◆教材分析
本单元是新目标八年级下册第三单元Section B 局部。

话题为“chores and permission〞家务活和许可。

教学内容贴近学生生活,学生有一定学习兴趣。

本课是一堂典型的阅读课,其主要目标是训练孩子的阅读能力,培养学生正确的阅读方法和阅读技巧。

◆教学目标
【知识目标】

①There is no need for them to do it.
②It’s the parents’ job to provide a clean and comfortable environment for their children.

Brainstorm about whether teenagers do chores at home.
Step 2: Review
What do your parents always ask you to do?
And review some target languages in Section A.
Step 3: Learn 1a
What do teenagers ask their parents’ permission for?
What do parents ask their teenagers to do?
Write parents or teenagers next to each phrase.
Step 4: Practice
Use the phrases in 1a to make conversation.
“Could you …? 〞or “Could I … ?〞between a child and a parent.
e.g.:
Parent: Could you make your bed?
Child: Yes, I can.
Parent: Could you make your breakfast?
Child: No, I can’t.
Step 5: Listening
Listen to a conversation between Sandy and her mom.
Check (√) the things in 1a that you hear.
Then listen again. Fill in the chart.
Step 6: Learn 2d
1. Pre - reading
Master the skimming skill
Know the main idea of two letters
2. While-reading
Have students read through letter/while listening and circle fire phrases. Explain the key words and make some sentences.
Ask different students to answer.
Check the answers.
3. Letter 2
After skimming finish the mind map.
This Letter is about two kinds of people,who are they?
Which is important for children to do?
What’s the relationship between them?
Why should children do chores at homes?(Give me three reasons)
Step 7: Group work
According to Mr. Smith and Ms. Miller, what are the cons and pros about kids doing chores? Discuss with your group. Then fill in 2c chart.
Step 8: Summary and Homework.
Do chores for your parents.
Review what you have learned today.
Finish P23 2d.
