My Good and Bad Habits
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 9 years old. Today I want to tell you all about some of my good habits and bad habits. We all have things we do really well and things we could work on improving, right?
Let me start with one of my good habits - I always brush my teeth twice a day, once in the morning after breakfast and once at night before bed. My mom says this is really important to keep my teeth healthy and avoid cavities. I use a yummy bubblegum flavored toothpaste that makes brushing fun! After I brush, I also floss every night to get anything stuck between my teeth. Having good dental habits now will help me have strong, white teeth when I'm older.
Another positive habit is that I always do my homework as soon as I get home from school. I don't even stop to play video games or watch TV until my homework is completely finished. My teacher says I'm a great student because I turn in quality work on time. Getting my homework done early means I have the rest of the evening to relax and do fun activities without staying up too late.
I also try to eat fairly healthy most of the time. I always have
a nutritious breakfast like oatmeal or eggs before school to give me energy. I pack a balanced lunch with things like a sandwich, fruit, veggies, and milk. And my parents make sure we have a good dinner with protein and vegetables every night. Of course, I still get treats like ice cream sometimes, but I don't overdo it on junk food.
Now let me share some of my bad habits that I'm working on improving. One of my biggest problems is that I can be pretty messy and disorganized. My room is a disaster area! I have toys, books, and clothes just thrown all over the floor. My mom is always telling me to clean up after myself, but I just never seem to get around to it. I need to get better about keeping my spaces neat and tidy.
Another bad habit is that I tend to procrastinate on big tasks or chores. Just last week, I waited until the very last minute to study for my big science test. I ended up staying up late cramming and didn't do my best work. And I hate having to clean my entire bedroom whenever my messiness gets totally out of control. If I just did a little bit at a time, it wouldn't be so overwhelming. I'm going to try working on tasks right away instead of putting them off.
My final bad habit is that I'm a major nail biter. It's just such a nervous habit for me. Whenever I get anxious, worried, or bored, I'll start gnawing away at my fingernails without even realizing it. My nails always look ragged and I sometimes make them bleed or get infections around my nail beds. I keep telling myself I need to stop, but it's really hard to break this habit. Maybe I'll start wearing little mittens over my hands to make it impossible!
So those are some of my good habits that I'll keep working on, and some of my bad habits that I want to improve. We all have works in progress, right? I'm only 9 years old, so I still have plenty of time to fix my bad ways. My parents and teachers are always encouraging me, so I'll keep trying my best. I bet by the time I'm a teenager, I'll have all my habits totally under control!。
