BIOCHEMISTRY SEMINAR
"Biotechnology and Bioinformatics"
This course is intended for junior and senior biochemistry majors, but is open to all students who meet the prerequisites. Students will make oral presentations of classic papers in biotechnology and recent papers in bioinformatics.
•The course satisfies an Oral Communications (“C”) Skills requirement.
•The course satisfies the Capstone Requirement for the biochemistry major.
Outcomes: Students will learn to read, write abstracts for, critically evaluate, make oral presentations of and discuss research published in biochemical journals. Students will be competent to make both formal PowerPoint presentations and to lead journal clubs as presenters/facilitators. Students will learn to be critical listeners of scientific presentations.
