美国东部时间1月10日，奥巴马回到家乡芝加哥，在他8年前开始总统生涯的地方发表自己的告别演讲（farewell speech）。

演讲一开始，奥巴马就开启了自嘲模式，说自己是个“跛脚鸭”，说话都没人听了，引得一片笑声，白宫“第一段子手”果然不是浪得虚名。
