What’s that smell?Do you hear that noise?Taste this!Look at me! Feel this, isn’t it soft? When you hear,or even use these phrases, you probably don’t stop to think about why we use them.Well,it’s because of our sense.Without us even knowing, our sense organs (nose, eyes, ears, tongue, and skin) are taking in information and sending it to the brain for processing. If we didn’t have them,we would not be able to smell, see, hear, taste,or touch anything!

Unit 1 The world of our Senses1. A pleasant day at the parkToday, I would like to share with you my experience of a pleasant day at the park. It was a beautiful summer day, with the sun shining brightly and a gentle breeze blowing. I went to the park with my friends, and we had a wonderful time exploring and enjoying the natural surroundings. 2. The Beauty of NatureAs we entered the park, the first thing that caught our attention was the lush greenery all around us. The trees were tall and majestic, providing shade from the sun. The flowers, in various vibrant colors, added a touch of beauty to the landscape. We could also hear thechirping of birds and the buzzing of insects, adding to the peaceful ambiance.3. A Feast for the EyesWalking further into the park, we came across a mesmerizing lake. The water was calm and clear, reflecting the blue sky above. We saw ducks swimming gracefully, their feathers glistening in the sunlight. It was a sight to behold. We also noticed families having picnics on the grass nearby, enjoying the serene view.4. The Melody of SoundAs we continued our stroll, we reached a playground where children were playing happily. We could hear their laughter and shouts of joy, filling the air. The sound of their footsteps and the squeaking of swings created a cheerful atmosphere. It was delightful to witness the innocence and happiness that filled the park.5. A Whiff of FragrancePassing by a flower garden, we were greeted by a delightful aroma. The scent of roses, lilies, and other flowers wafted through the air, givingus a pleasant sensory experience. We couldn't resist stopping for a moment to appreciate the captivating fragrance that surrounded us.6. A Taste of NatureFinally, we found a cozy spot to sit and enjoy a picnic lunch. We savored sandwiches, fruits, and homemade lemonade. The combination of flavors was refreshing and satisfying. It was the perfect way to conclude our day at the park.In conclusion, our day at the park was a delightful sensory experience. From the picturesque landscapes to the sounds of nature, and the pleasant fragrances, everything added to the overall enjoyment. It reminded me of the importance of appreciating the beauty of our senses and the wonders of the natural world.。

A retold version of the text FogOn a foggy afternoon at 4 o ’clock, Polly, a young lady, left work and began to walk asquickly as possible towards her usual bus stop, ready to go to King Street by bus. However, the busconductor theretold her that no buses would run that far, because of the thick fog. Thus, she had to take an underground train to GreenPark, where the weather might be better and she might be able to get a taxi.On the train, she sensed herself being watched by a tall man. Upon getting off the train, she set off to Park Street, and couldn ’t see anyone with the fog like a grey cloud outside. While she was walking, she was frightened by the sound of footsteps behind her. Then to her great surprise, she heard a voice offering help to the lost in the fog. Soon,Polly ’s arm was touched and she was led by the old man through the thick fog and got to King Street without any trouble, safe and sound. Fancy all this was due to the help of a blind man hoping to pay back the help he got from others on fine days!。
