One of the books that I have recently read is called At Home: A ShortHistory of Private Life by an author called Bill Bryson. It is a thick, factualbookabout many different subjects. It is really a collection of information andanecdotes related to our private lives, past and present. The book is mainly about things that have been included in our homes overthe centuries. The author started out by wondering about the history ofeverything in his own home. As it is a factual book rather than a novel, it doesnot have a plot as such. Each chapter in the book covers the history of aparticular room. For exle, the chapter on the kitchen talks about the historyof running water, electricity, gas cooking and so on. The chapter aboutthebathroom looks at the history of plumbing, sanitation and privacy. Thebookcontains so much interesting information that I think I will have to read itagain in order to take it all in.As to the kind of people who would enjoy it, I think anybody who isinterested in history and enjoys learning lots of interesting facts would enjoyreading this book. It would also appeal to a busy person, as it’s a good book todip in and out of, because you don’t have to follow a story, as you would with anovel. You can just take it chapter by chapter, or even page by page, as thereis something to learn on every page. Each chapter is written like a story, eventhough it is a factual book, so it takes the reader to all sorts of unexpectedplaces, and for me it was a real page-turner.I like this book because I learned such a huge amount from it, which hasmade me look around my own home with different eyes and appreciate just how farwe have e in a short space of time in terms of architecture, technology, lighting, fort and many other things. (Describe an exciting book you have read)You should say:What is the name of the bookwhat type of book it ishow you knew this bookand explain why you like to remend this book to your friend1.

Describe a visitor in your homeYou should say:Who was this visitorWhen did he/she visit your homeWhy did he/she come to visitAnd explain whether you like him/her or not雅思口语8分范文:I’m going to talk about an occasion when a very close friend of mine visited where I live.He is a Chinese person. His real name is Xin Lin, but we usuallycall him by his English name, which is Steven. He was studying in the same university with me in England when we did our Master’s last year, and we both lived in the same flat in the university halls of residence. We were so close with each other because we spent a lot of time cooking and talking with each other, but we have n’t met for a few months since we left England. So the occasion was a month ago when he visited Vietnam to travel. He had never been to my country although China is right next to Vietnam. So, he decided to come to my country to visit me.We were really excited to meet each other again, and he was excited as well to come to my house for the first time. I invited him for dinner, and I myself cooked something very special for him, which was a traditional Vietnamese dish. We talked a lot during the meal, and we reminded each other of the memories we shared in England.I was very happy when Steven came to see me. The reason is because we had not had a chance to see each other for a long time, and you know, it always feels good seeing an old friend. The occasion brought back a lot of good memories that I think I can never forget. 1. In your country, how do people treat visitors?I think people in my country are generally very hospitable, and they are usually very welcoming when having visitors. They would usually be willing to invite visitors to have dinner, especially if the person is a close friend or a relative.2. Do you think hospitality is less important than it was in the past?I do not think so. I believe it has always been important for people to be friendly and welcoming to people visiting their houses. It is even more crucial to behave properly with visitors coming from other countries such as tourists, because the way local people treat tourists can have a great effect on the image of a country. So, I think hospitality is as important today as it was in the past.3. What are the benefits of staying with a friend when visiting a new place?Well, the biggest advantage is that you can save money when staying in a friend’s house. This is because it is usually expensive when staying in hotels. Another benefit is that when you stay with your friend when coming to a new place, your journey is likely to be more interesting and enjoyable. If you stay alone, you might get bored and lonely.4. What are the advantages of staying in a hotel instead? It would be more convenient to stay in a hotel, I guess. Hotels are usually located close to the main tourist attractions of a city, so it will be less time-consuming if travellers choose a hotel. Also, you can receive good services from the hotel. For example, you can have free breakfast ready in the morning, while you will need to spend time cooking when you stay with a friend.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之城市角落(a place in your city you want to go to)Describe a place in your city you want to go toYou should say:What is this placeWhere is this placeWhy you like this placeAnd explain what do you want to do there1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:城市角落(a place in your city youwant to go to)There are lots of places I like to go, depending on my mood. Today ‘though, I’m going to tell you about a special place near to where I live. I will explain where it is and how I get there. I will try and describe what it looks like and explain why I like the location so much.I am lucky, although I live in a city, from my house I can walk to the edges of the Peak District, which is a beautiful national park just a few miles from the city centre. To get to the national park I have to walk from my house down some local roads, and up a steep hill past some allotments. After about a mile or so striding out away from the urban areas, I get to a lovely bit of woodland which has a public footpath you can follow on wards and upwards. It can be a bit of a scramble towards the end of the path as it is very steep indeed, but eventually, you leave the woodland and are on the edge of open farmland. Another footpath crosses some sheep-filled fields, and finally, you are on the moors of the Peak District. It is really spectacular. The Peak District can be a really wild place, with its vast expanses of open moorland. You are high up, and it is quite exposed so it can be very windy and cold even in the summer. There are rocky outcrops and strange configurations of stones that have been weathered by centuries of wind and rain to create dramatic shapes. Some boulders are in piles, and there are steep vertical cliffs too. The area attracts lots of people who like walking, climbing and bouldering because of its unique and beautiful landscape. Everywhere is dark wet peat underfoot and lots of heathers. This is a low growing plant that flowers at the end of the summer turning the wholelandscape purple. The park covers a huge area, I think around 555 square miles, so the terrain differs from area to area, of course, I am biased, but I believe I live near the most remarkably beautiful part.I love this place, because if ever I am feeling down, or a bit enclosed, in just an hours walk I can find myself in a deserted but picturesque place, where the elements are more extreme. In winterrain and wind can batter you, but in summer the sky seems to go on forever. Every day is different up there, and every hour of every day too. The area is so huge, that often you can have it all to yourself, of course, there are other walkers about, but you can quickly disappear in the vastness of the space. The people who live in Sheffield, like me, are very proud that we are so near to the Peak District National Park, and it is no surprise it became the United Kingdom's first national park on 17 April 1951. A birthday that should be celebrated I think!PART 31. The real summer in Canada lasts only two months, July and August. During these two months, thetemperature climbs above 20 and it's always sunny. The trees become green again and the whole city is full of various flowers. Day timeis longer and night time is shorter. Most time we have sunlight until 10 in the evening. The reason that I like summer is because summer time is the best season for outdoor activities. I love hiking, jogging, and biking. I can go to national parks or city parks easily in summer. Summer gives me so much fun.Just like what I've said, I love hiking, jogging, and biking in summer. I still remember I went to different national parks last summer for hiking. I saw beautiful lakes and mountains. I even encountered a bear looking for food, which was pretty amazing experience.Weather may affect people' choice of activities. It's warm outside in summer, so more people will choose outdoor activities. We always have more music festivals or food festivals in summer. Winter is super cold in Canada. Today, I would like to talk about acharismatic person I met a year ago.Last year I was going to Mumbai by train for an official meeting. On the way, a young lady boarded the train from a small railway station. She occupied the seat in front of me. Very soon we started talking about our hobbies, studies and work etc. Her name was Sukriti Singh. She was a second-year student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. One particular thing which made her quite special was her high confidence level. Normally, girls don’t travel alone in my country. In most cases, they are accompanied by their parents or some other family member. But, since she was on her own, that clearly reflected her boldness.I found this girl very interesting. Her in-depth knowledge of latest technology and space science made me re-think about my opinion about females. I used to think that Indian women are only interested in fashion. Science is not their cup of tea. But, this meeting was a real mind-changer. She helped open my eyes towards the commonattitude of ignorance males have towards females regarding their intelligence. Now, I fully understand that women have the potential to succeed in any field. Describe a public place that you think need improvementsYou should say:What the place isWhen do you go thereWhat do you like and dislike in the public place1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:改进公共设施(public place that you think need improvements)The public place that I think need improvements is the community library near my home. I often go there after work, probably twice a week. There are several aspects I like about the library. The first one is the whole atmosphere. Every time I go into the library, I can see people in all ages reading books, surfing in the internet, discussing questions, or watching movies, which makes me feel peaceful. The second one is the variety of books. It not only has Chinese books but also some English books. The third one is the easy access to all the materials. Application to the library card is easy and free. People can borrow 6 books for one time. However, there are some parts I don't like about the library. For example, the library doesn't have a quiet study area. It's pretty noisy for people or students who want to study lonely and quietly. The library can consider to build a quiet study room in the future.雅思口语话题part2高分范文之:未来居住的城市(city or country you want to live)Describe a city or country you most want to live in the future You should say:What is itWhere is it locatedWhy do you like it1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:改进公共设施(public place that you think need improvements)The city I most want to live in the future is Guangzhou. First of all, the portions of materials used were hard to control because I didn't have enough professional cooking tools. I estimated all the materials and merged together. I actually failed once, and succeeded at the second time. Secondly, baking cakes in rice cooker is different from baking in oven. I couldn't change the temperature of rice cooker and I couldn't know how well the cake became with the time passing by either. I had to guess and make sure the cake was not over-cooked. However, I found it's broken after being washed on the same day. It is a classic song by The Beatles. It is a song written by Paul. When his friend John divorced, he feared that John’s little son Julian could be upset because of his parents’ marriage. Theref ore, he wrote the song to Julian to encourage him to face the difficulties in life and never give up. In some parts of the song, Paul also told some stories between him and his girlfriend. Therefore, at first, many people thought this song was for his girl friend, and even Julian himself didn’t know this song was written for him.In terms of the reason why I think this song is interesting, as I mentioned earlier, when I listened to this song for the first time, I thought it was a song for a girl. After my classmate told me the story behind it, I was surprised. To be honest, at first, I was inspired by this song. I thought this song was trying to tell me that I should love myself even though I faced some problems which made me lose self-esteem. Besides, the abundant use of chemical pesticides also makes the water seriously polluted.can individuals do to protect our environment?Well, it is everyone’s civil responsibility to protect our environment and there are many things that individuals can do to protect it. Thirdly, we can recycle resources by passing through a series of changes or treatments as to process, recover or make available for reuses through natural process of biochemical degradation or modification.you think individuals should be responsible for pollutions?Well, individuals should be partially responsible for pollution anddo their part to control what they can at their home, going to workor play, but the government has a larger responsibility to remove more vehicles off of the roads and to control the exhaust from power plants.is there a need to involve government in environmental protection? The need is very obvious. We finallyfinished this trip to Hongkong. Before the trip, I thought it mightbe better than the trip I had had before, but I didn't expect it tobe so terrible. At first, the manager told us that we would take a coach to Zhengzhou, from where we would take a train to Hongkong, but when we got on the coach they changed their idea. They said that for some reason theyhad taken us to Hongkong by the coach. From Nangyang to Hongkong, the coach was running for 24 hours that it was really terrible for us.After sitting on the coach for 24 hours, we arrived to the border of Shenzhen and Hongkong. There were a lot of passengers. We followedthe crowd to check into Hongkong until 11 o'clock at night. We stayed at Hongkong only one and half a day but about two-third of time was shopping in stores. Jewelry store, clocks and watches store, giftstore and electrical shop and so on. The tour guide constantly changed. There were three guides in one and a half days. One of the guides even bullied us to buy their watches. In the last day, by the former plan, we should visit Zhuhai for all day and then going back to Nanyang by coach. But in that situation, no one had interesting to visit. We didn’t want to take the coachfor 24 hours again. The second reason I can think of is that nowadays people mostly work among skyscrapers and it'll be very comfortable and released for them to see green stuff back home.you often go to visit gardens? No, not really, I think that's probably because there are few gardens in the downtown area.there any houses or apartments with gardens?Yes, there are houses with individual gardens and they are mostly in the rural area. As for apartments, usually there is a garden in the middle of the neighborhood.houses, is there any other types of housing with gardens?Eh, No, I don’t think so. They should be free to the public.雅思口语part1范文(篇十二)Describe a historical building in your country. You should say:where it iswhen and who you went withwhat it is likeand explain why you think you wanted to visit it.I don’t think you can t alk about historical buildings in China without mentioning one of the most recognizable buildings in the world, the Great Wall. It is located in the north of China, with some parts close to the capital, Beijing.I visited it with my parents and siblings during a summer vacation a few years ago. Unfortunately this is peak season as the weather is glorious and people like to travel during this period, so it was jam-packed. The Great Wall is one of China’s premier tourist attractions and as such is a major draw. The Wall itself was fantastic. As it is an ancient structure, partsof it are ruined due to the effects of time, but other parts havebeen reconstructed for tourists in order for them to see how it would have looked, as well as making it safe to climb. When you look out across the hills and mountains, it seems to go on forever, as far as the eyes can see.I wanted to visit the Great Wall as it is an iconic building in China, no trip to Beijing is complete without a jaunt out to the Wall. Asfar as I’m co ncerned it has a timeless quality and I could spend all day walking up and down it. It was voted one of the Seven New Wonders of the World and people say it is visible from space, although thisis actually a misconception.雅思口语part1范文(篇十三)it good for children to take part in the teamwork?a leader important for teamwork?are the disadvantages of teamwork?one do you prefer, project-based teamwork or function based teamwork?is necessary for people to be good team members (not leader)?Sample answers:, I think so. Children cannot always work alone and many tasks and projects can only be accomplished through collective efforts. Also,in the future, no matter in their college life or in their career, they may be required to work in a team. But, the problem is that children tend to be more self-centered than adults and when they are very little kids, they usually do not know how to cooperate with others. So, if chances are provided, children should take part in the teamwork, trying to help each other, figure out solutions and improve their cooperation skills., of course. There should be someone to make final decisions and lead the team in the right directions. Although teamwork does have the advantages like less individual responsibility, less workload and so on, it does have the problems that some thoughts might conflict with others. The whole project may reach a plateau. If a leader is elected, he/she can make decision to take whose ideas, eliminating the conflicts.teamwork, it is hard to allocate the tasks equally to everyone. Some team members may feel unfair. For example, to writing a research paper, a team member may be responsible for collecting related information; another team member may be assigned to do some experiments. It is likely that collecting information is verydifficult, while finishing the experiments is comparatively easier. So the one who searches for information may feel unfair.prefer function based teamwork. You know, in a function based team, everyone’s duty is clear-cut. Many redundancy can be reduced in this way. For example, in the app team, there might be 2 Android engineers, 2 IOS engineers, 1 project manager and 1 editor. According the titles of these positions, you can see that this is a function based team. I think less redundancy means higher working efficiency.think a good team member should have strong sense of responsibility. He or she has to make every efforts to accomplish his or her duties with high efficiency and quality. Thus, the leader doesn’t need to spend too much time on supervising his/her team members, taking more time to make important decisions and formulate blueprint for new projects. Thus, the whole team’s performance can be greatly enhanced.雅思口语part1范文(篇十四)you send gifts to others quite often?kind of gifts are popular in your country?there some special gifts in your country?are the difference between the gifts sent nowadays and those sent in the past?you have a child, when will you give presents to him/her?do you feel about receiving an expensive gift?Sample answers:really. Only when someone invite to their home or attend some kind of celebrations will I send gifts to others. For example, when one of my friends invited me to attend her wedding, I sent her a microwave oven as a gift. And usually, Chinese prefer to give red envelope with 500 RMB to 2000 RMB to the inviters instead of sending gifts. In this way, the inviters can use this amount of money to purchase whatever she/he likes.a common visit, we tend to send fruits, cookies and the like to the host. You know, most of people like to eat this kind of things. Andwe don’t want to send something the host doesn’t like. So food is always one of the best choices. For some important occasions like wedding ceremonies, we prefer to send household appliances as gifts. To conclude, Chinese are more willing to send necessities as gifts.my point of view, red envelope seems to be one of the special giftsin China. Every time when we celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year, the elder would give red envelope to kids. Usually, within these red envelopes is money, ranging from 100 RMB to several thousand RMB.This money is called lucky money. The elder hopes the luck money can bless the kids have a lucky, happy new year.the past, like my parents, usually sent health products to the old as gifts. In their view, these products did good to people’s health. However, notion of health has undergone great changes. People startto recognize that most of these products exaggerated their pesticide effect and some of them even have many side effects. As a result, nowadays people send other kinds of things such as fruits, cookies or household appliances as gifts.would give presents to him/her when he she celebrate for birthdays or for some other important events. For example, when he/she graduates from university, I would send him/her a business suit as presents. You know, after graduation, he/she has to look for a job and takelots of interviews. A business suit is necessary for interviews, which might leave employers good impression of the interviewers.depends on who send me this expensive gift. If one of my friend, not a close friend, send me an expensive gift, I would feel a little bit nervous. And maybe later, I would send something back. However, if my parents send me a MacBook, I will not feel a great burden. You know, in Chinese cultural, how much expensive gifts you send depends on the relationship between you and the receiver. Too much or too less are both improper.。

told me a lot of the historic stories of China and also other countries,at thattime I thought history the subject is also about listening to the stories so I looked forward to learning the subject very much. But later when I actually learn about it,I found that there are also boring issues and things like the impact of the movement, the background of the new policy for me to memorize,so gradually I lost my interest.5)I am not a fan of history,so to be honest, the last time I read a book about history is the vacation that I was insenior high school, which is a task given by my history teacher.I theories, ranging from business activities, prisoner's dilemma,to daily activities. And it also enables the students to rethink about the things happening around themselves and give them the explanation in terms of economics.3)Both of the two are important. For teachers,it is important for them to shoulder the responsibilities to try tomake every student understand the knowledge they have taught, and for students,it is their task to respond to the teachers and spare every effort to work hard and get good results.4)I do not think so.Since I have done some internship before, and what I found is that sometimes marketing ismuch more than using the theories and models I learned from class,it is more related to connecting the company and the customers,it is a thing that needs the help of the whole company.5)I learned about various models, formulas, theories, and different solutions to problem that may happen inthe marketing process. It is of some use when companies really do marketing, but what embarrassing for us to have an afternoon tea with each other.3)I think so,because as a friend,I’m willing to listen to my friend’s complaints and doubts, and then I would liketo give some advices for
Today I am going to talk about collecting postcards—a hobby that is both fascinating and financially rewarding. I would like to explain the basic kinds of collectible postcards, why they are so valuable, and how collectors buy and sell their cards. It’s Saturday mor ning, and you are helping clean out your grandmother’s house. After working a while, you stumble upon a trunk, open it,and discover hundreds of old postcards.Thinking about getting to your driving lesson on time, you start tossing the cards into the trash can.Congratulations! You have just thrown away a year’s tuition.

Since I had lived in Argentina for more than 10 years, I guess I was the ideal person to give him suggestions for his trip.At the beginning of the conversation, he thought I was also a tourist (because of my Asian looks) so he wanted to share and exchange trip ideas with me. But once I told him who I really was, I was the one making most of the talking. I remember he was a really nice guy and very very adventurous. He basically wanted to try everything and make themost of his trip, thats why he was very willing to listen to me and take notes of my suggestions on some secret spots around the city as well as popular tourist attractions in different provinces. I also wrote down for him the names of some traditional foods that he must try as part of the experience.I found the conversation really interesting because it was hard for me to believe that a person could have such courage to travel by himself to a country he had never been to. It was also quite difficult to imagine how he could survive with his broken Spanish! But well, I guess that is what a backpacker is supposed to be.All in all, although we havent kept in touch since that conversation, I really hope he had a good time in Argentina! What are the advantages and disadvantages of communicating face to face and via internet? Why some people like to communicate via internet? Why do people like talking with others?Do you think women are more likely to talk about others? An activity you do to keep fitYou should say:What the activity isWhen and where you usually do ithow you do itand explain why it can keep you fit示例范文:单车骑行Im an outgoing person so that I like keeping myself busy even if Im not working. We need to leave in fifteen minutes, or we'll be late to class!LH: Get it together? 你在说什么嘛?LL: I said "get it together"! That means, get organized, focus on what you need to do.LH: 噢,你是要我赶快准备好上学。

get yourself together翻译

Recently I ate buffet at City Night Restaurant with my friends.I had this meal about two weeks ago and we ate buffet in the evening time. That was actually a get together short of a party with my school friends whom I have not met for a long in person. Over the phone, we talked and planned to have a meal cum get together party together to discuss us and to meet those friends in person. We picked the City Night Restaurant because it is in a suitable location for all of us and we knew the food quality of this restaurant was good.We met at around 5 pm and we spent some good timetogether. Lots of things have changed and some of our friends have done many challenging things and we all enjoyed the stories and updated we gave each other. Four friends of mine from school came to this occasion and they were James, Jessica, Harper and Patrick (...or say names of your friends...)It was a gathering we had been planning for a long and as part of our meeting, we planned to have a great feast. From the very beginning, we planned to have met in a restaurant and not at home. Usually arranging to get together type party at a restaurant is easier and more convenient than arranging it at home. No one feels shy or uneasy being at other's home and the host does not have to go through a big preparation. The friends who came at this gathering also liked the environment and foods of City Night Restaurant and that was the main reason we planned to have it outside our home. Describe a place where you often visit with your friends or familyYou should say:Where the place isHow you know the placeHow you go thereWhy you want to visitToday, I’m going to share with you a place where I usually/often go to relax/read and write/ hang out with my friends, which is a small café/restaurant near my company/my house named “ABC”As a full-time employee/student, I have to go to work/ school 5 days a week; therefore, the only time that I can visit this place is on weekends. I always try to make time for my little trip to“ABC” café every Saturday or Sunday. The coffee house is located on a quiet street with a lot of trees planted on both sides. Additionally, it has a patio with hanging gardens which I like very much; it makes me feel like I?m sitting in a garden of my own.Separated from the hustle and bustle of the city life in Hanoi, this place allows me to sit quietly and reflect, relaxing after a week of hard work. I can concentrate on a personal project such asreading or writing in my journal without being interrupted by other people. It serves great coffee, tea, and cakes, thus, the place always smells very nice. In addition, the employees are also friendly and helpful.Sometimes, I go there with my friends. Over a nice cup of coffee/tea, we share our stories and smell the beautiful scent of the flowers. At that moment, we can escape from reality for a little while and enjoy ourselves even more. 1. In other words, I am… 雅思口语:Get it together打起精神
LL: Hey, Li Hua!? You're not ready for school! We need to go now! It's already 8:30.
LH: Larry?
LL: Get it together, Li Hua! It's already 8:30! We need to leave in fifteen minutes, or we'll be late to class!
LH: Get it together?
LL: I said "get it together"! That means, get organized, focus on what you need to do.
Get it together
LL: "To get it together" , or "get one's act together" can also mean something very general, such as arranging one's life for the better.
Larry,
LL: Here's an example: After finishing college, I didn't work hard to plan for the future for several years. But finally I got my act together, and got accepted into graduate school.
LL: That's right... here in the U.S. people usually have several chances to get it together. One of my friends almost failed his first semester of college. But he got his act together, and now he's a Ph. D. candidate at Yale.
LL: Right, right... enough talking! Get it together, Li Hua. If you're not ready in ten minutes, I'm leaving!
