The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. The graph illustrates changes in the amounts of beef, lamb, chicken and fish consumed in a particular European country between 1979 and 2004.In 1979, beef was by far the most popular of these foods, with about 225 grams consumed per person per week. Lamb and chicken were eaten in similar quantities (around 150 grams), while much less fish was consumed (just over 50 grams). However, during this 25-year period the consumption of beef and lamb fell dramatically to approximately 100 grams and 55 grams respectively. The consumption of fish also declined, but much less significantly to just below 50 grams, so although it remained the least popular food, consumption levels were the most stable. The consumption of chicken, on the other hand, showed an upward trend, overtaking that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef in 1989. By2004 it had soared to almost 250 grams per person per week.Overall, the graph shows how the consumption of chicken increased dramatically while the popularity of these other foods decreased over the period. (173 words)The charts compare the sources of electricity in Australia and France in the years1980 and 2000. Between these years, electricity production almost rising from 100 units to 170 in Australia, and from 90 to 180 units in France. In 1980, Australia used coal the main the electricity source (50 units) and the remainder was produced from natural gas, hydro power (each producing 20 units) and oil (which produced only 10 units). By 2000, coal had become the fuel for more than 75% of electricity produced and only hydro continued to be another significant source supplying approximately 20%.In contrast, France used coal as a source for only 25 units of electricity in 1980, which was matched by natural gas. The remaining 40 units were produced largely from oil and nuclear power, with hydro contributing only 5 units. But by 2000, nuclear power, which was not used at all in Australia, had developed into the main source, producing almost 75% of electricity, at 126 units, while coal and oil together produced only 50 units. Other sources were no longer significant.Overall, it is clear that by 2000 these two countries relied on different principal fuel sources: Australia relied on coal and France on nuclear power. The greatest increase was in telephone ownership, rising from 42% in 1972 to 77% in 1983. Next came central heating ownership, rising from 37% of households in 1972 to 64% in 1983. The percentage of households with a refrigerator rose 21% over the same period and of those with a washing machine by 14%. Households with vacuum-cleaners, televisions and dishwashers increased by 8%, 5% and 2%, respectively. In 1983, the year of their introduction, 18% of households had a video recorder. The significant social changes reflected in the statistics are that over the period the proportion of British houses with central heating rose from one to two thirds, and of those with a phone from under a half to over three-quarters. Together with the big increases in the ownership of washing machines and refrigerators, they are evidence of both rising living standards and the trend to lifestyles based on comfort and convenience. There were no figures given for male part-time workers, but female part-time had forty hours of leisure time, only slightly more than women in full-time employment, perhaps reflecting their work in the home.In the unemployed and retired categories, leisure time showed an increase for both sexes, as might have been expected. Here too, men enjoyed more leisure time—over eighty hours, compared with seventy hours for women, perhaps once again reflecting the fact that women spend more time working in the home than men.Lastly, housewives enjoyed approximately fifty-four hours of leisure, on average. There were no figures given for househusbands! Overall, the chart demonstrates that in the categories for which statistics on male leisure time were available, men enjoyed at least ten hours of extra leisure time. (173 words)4. 剑二-Test4-Task1 (Bar chart)The table below shows the figures for imprisonment in five countries between1930 and 1980.Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below. The table shows that figures for imprisonment in the five countries mentioned indicate no overall pattern of increase of decrease. In fact there is considerable fluctuation from country to country. In Great Britain the numbers in prison have increased steadily 30,000 to 80,000 in 1980. On the other hand in Australia, and particularly in New Zealand, the numbers fell markedly from 1930 to 1940. Since then they have increased gradually, apart from in 1980 when the numbers in prison in New Zealand fell by about 30,000 from the 1970 total. Canada is the only country in which the numbers in prison have decreased over the period 1930 and 1980, although there have been fluctuations in this trend. The figures for the United States indicate the greatest number of prisoners compared to the other four countries but population size needs to be taken into account in this analysis. The prison population in the United States increased rapidly from 1970 to 1980 and this must be a worrying trend. (167 words)剑七-Test3-Task1 ( Bar chart)Band 6.51.剑一--Practice Test 3, Writing Task 1 (bar chart combined with line graph) The chart below shows the amount of money per week spent on fast foods in Britain. The graph shows the trends in consumption of fast-foods.Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.(Model answer 165 words)The chart shows that high income earners consumed considerably more fast foods than the other income groups, spending more than twice as much on hamburgers (43 pence per person per week) than on fish and chips or pizza (bothunder 20 pence). Average income earners also favoured hamburgers, spending 33 pence per person per week, followed by fish and chips at 24 pence, then pizza at 11 pence. Low income earners appear to spend less than other income groups on fast foods, though fish and chips remains their most popular fast food, followed by hamburgers and then pizza. From the graph we can see that in 1970, fish and chips were twice as popular as burgers, pizza being at that time the least popular fast food. The consumption of hamburgers and pizza has risen steadily over the 20 year period to 1990 while the consumption of fish and chips has been in decline over that same period with a slight increase in popularity since 1985.。

IELTS Writing Task 1: describe a processHere is some more advice for describing a process diagram. The question I'm using comes from Cambridge IELTS 6. It's also on this website(go down the page to test 3).Advice:1.Introduction: paraphrase the question statement (one sentence).2.Summary paragraph: write how many steps there are in each of the2 diagrams. You could also mention the first step and the last stepin each process (two sentences).3.Details: describe each step in the diagrams. We'll look at this nextweek. Here's my example introduction and summary paragraph:The figures illustrate the stages in the life of a silkworm and the process of producing silk cloth. There are four main stages in the life cycle of the silkworm, from eggs to adult moth. The process of silk cloth production involves six steps, from silkworm cocoon to silk material. Can you see the paraphrasing I have used? Next week we'll work on describing the stages in each process.paraphrasing:diagrams=figuresshow=illustratestages=stepsthe life cycle of the silkworm=the stages in the life of a silkworm production=process of producing...=process of ...production.there are ...stages=...involves ...steps.Hello Simon,I hope the paraphrasing aboved is correct. I enjoy you daily lessions very much. I am preparing for the IELTS test, and your lessons help me a lot. Thank you very much. Here I have some qustions about this lession. The following is my sentence:There are six stages in the process of silk cloth production, beginning with selecting cocoons. Then the qualified cocoons will* be boiled, unwind into* thread, and the thread will be twisted and finally weaved. My first question is that should I use future tense (will be boiled....) or present simple tense (is boiled)? The second question is that which preposition should i use? (the qualified cocoons will be unwind into* thread: should I use "into") ?I am looking forward to your reply. Thanks again.Best wishesTheresaHi Theresa,Your paraphrasing is perfect. Here are the answers to your questions:1. I would use the present simple to describe processes e.g. "The selected (not 'qualified') cocoons are boiled."2. I would avoid trying to use a preposition - I'd find another way to describe it e.g. "The cocoon is unwound, leaving a single thread". Or, "it is then possible to unwind the cocoon in order to have a thread of silk."Hope this helps,SimonWhen describing stages in a process:1.Start at the beginning. Use words that clearly show the stages (e.g.firstly, at the first stage, after that, next, following this, finally).e the present simple tense.e the 'active' when someone or something does the action (e.g.the moth lays its eggs).e the 'passive' when it is not important to say who or what doesthe action (e.g. the silk cloth is dyed). Here are some example sentences from last week's question: The life cycle of the silkworm begins when the moth lays its eggs.∙After 10 days the silkworm larva is born, and 4 to 6 weeks later the larva produces silk thread.∙At the first stage in the production of silk cloth the cocoon is boiled in water.∙Next, the silk thread is unwound and twisted.∙It is then dyed, to give it colour, or woven to make cloth and then dyed.I have highlighted the passive verbs and the words that mark stages.Advice: you can avoid difficult passive verbs like 'unwound' or 'woven' by writing 'it is then possible to unwind' or 'the thread is then ready for weaving'.IELTS Writing Task 1: describe a tableToday I'm going to look at a question from Cambridge IELTS book 5 (page 98). You can see the question and an example answer on this website. The problem with the example answer is that it is long (233 words) and quite complicated. I'm going to suggest some changes, starting with the introduction and summary paragraph.1. Introduction. Paraphrase the question (make small changes):∙The table shows data about the underground rail networks in six major cities.2. Summary paragraph. Look for the most noticeable feature or main trend:∙The table compares the six networks in terms of their age, size and the number of people who use them each year. It is clear that thethree oldest underground systems are larger and serve significantlymore passengers than the newer systems.Next week I'll add the final paragraphs.Last week I wrote the introduction and summary paragraph for this question. The example answer on the website is good, but it's 233 words long, it contains a few mistakes, and it's a bit complicated.I've now written the full essay. I've followed my usual 4 paragraph structure (see previous Task 1 lessons) and I've tried to make the essay clear and simple.I'd give my essay a band 9, but maybe I'm biased! Please let me know if you find any mistakes in my writing (nobody's perfect), or ask if anything is unclear.Describe a table (Cambridge IELTS 5, page 98)The table shows data about the underground rail networks in six major cities. The table compares the six networks in terms of their age, size and the number of people who use them each year. It is clear that the three oldest underground systems are larger and serve significantly more passengers than the newer systems. The London underground is the oldest system, having opened in 1863. It is also the largest system, with 394 kilometres of route. The second largest system, in Paris, is only about half the size of the London underground, with 199 kilometres of route. However, it serves more people per year. While only third in terms of size, the Tokyo system is easily the most used, with 1927 million passengers per year.Of the three newer networks, the Washington DC underground is the most extensive, with 126 kilometres of route, compared to only 11 kilometres and28 kilometres for the Kyoto and Los Angeles systems. The Los Angeles network is the newest, having opened in 2001, while the Kyoto network is the smallest and serves only 45 million passengers per year.(185 words)Analysis of this essay:∙ Simple paragraph structure: Introduction, summary paragraph, one paragraph about the 3 older systems, one paragraph about the 3newer systems.∙ Select key information: There is too much information to include in ashort essay. I found it difficult to write less than 185 words. Notice that Itried to include only one (sometimes two) statistics for each city.∙ Compare as much as possible: e.g. London is the oldest and largest; Paris is about half the size but serves more people.∙ Commas: Notice how I use commas to add extra information e.g. “…isthe oldest system, having opened in…” I often use the word “with” aftera comma to add a figure to the end of a sentence e.g. “…is the mostused, with 1927 million passengers.”ModelIt is a nice piece of writingI have tried one.The table reveals information on the Underground railway station among six cities during two centuries. As is shown by the table, London, the oldest railway system, has by farthe longest distance with 394 km, closely followed Paris, the second oldest underground railway , with 199 km, or equaling a haft distance of London system. This then preceded the opening of the railway system in Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles.Interestingly, although Tokyo has the middle position as regards the kilometers of route with 155 km, it appears to be the highest system used by passengers, with 1927 million. This number is considerably higher than that of both Paris and London. These figures are 1191 and 775, respectively.Surprisingly, Kyoto and Los Angeles have the lowest number of either kilometers of route and passengers per year. In fact, the number of passengers using both of them is a great deal less than that of Washington DC, with approximately three times less , while the distance of Kyoto and Los Angeles railway system is negligible (ranging from 11 to 28).In conclusion, London has the highest number of kilometers of route, while Tokyo occurs to be the successful railway system with the overwhelming majority of passengers(193 ws)IELTS Writing Task 1: comparing (bar charts)。

你对学校的住宿条件不满意。
请撰写一封正式的投诉信。
1. 提出投诉2. 提出待解决的问题3. 建议如何解决SampleDear Sir or Madam,I am writing this letter to make a complaint of the accommodation at the university. There are some problems about the living conditions, which are quite unsatisfactory.Firstly, the light is turned off at 10 o'clock every night, and I think it's too early. Secondly, the supply of hot water is only available during certain periods, which is quite inconvenient for my daily life. Thirdly, there is no Internet access in the dorm. So, when I need to do research for my learning projects, I have to go to the library. These problems have caused trouble to my study and life. Therefore, I have some suggestions: keep the light on for another hour, provide 24-hour hot water supply, and install Internet access in the dormitory. I sincerely hope that you will take my advice into consideration, and I'm looking forward to your reply.Sincerely yours,Li MingWriting task 2Directions: For this part, you will write a short passage entitled Making Friends Online. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below.1. 网上交友变得越来越普遍2. 网上交友的优势和所带来的问题3. 如何正确看待网上交友Making Friends OnlineWith the popularization of the Internet, making friends online is rapidly becoming a part of life for people of all ages in the world, and more and more youngsters begin enjoying life online. It is argued drastically whether it is good for the youngsters to make friends in the virtual world where we can gain as much as we lose. Surfing on the Internet is much easier to make friends because people feel freer and more convenient to express themselves. The traditional ways of getting people together are not working as well as they did before, therefore, there's a need for something new, and the Internet is filling that need. You can meet people whom you may have no chance to meet in person, and furthermore it allows you to choose from thousands of them. Of course, the situation isn't perfect. It is difficult to judge someone through computer communication. Certain things look really good, but then in real life, it's a completely different story. And the Internet addiction, cheat and even crimes still bother both the adolescents and adults. As a new product of this period, making friends online has undoubtedly made an impact on our life. We’d better accept it and use it to serve us. However, we shouldn't spend too much time online or easily believe in people we don't know. Anyway, it can be as exciting as making friends in person. Enjoy it, but remember to move slowly.Writing task 3Directions: For this part, you will write a short passage entitled The Practice of Handwriting. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below.1. 目前人们是否真的越来越少使用手写了2. 打字在哪些方面能代替手写,哪些方面不能3. 练习手写字(或书法)是否还有必要The Practice of HandwritingIt might be true that modern people would rather type than write with their own hands when communicating with others. Yet, I still think it necessary to practice handwriting. With the popularity of computers nowadays, some people hold the view that the traditional way of writing letters to others is out of fashion. They see more and more people sending e-mails to each other on either business or personal matters. So they believe we can live in the modern world without handwriting at all. "Post-it" even becomes unnecessary since people can either make a phone call or send a message. However, I hold the opposite view. I believe good handwriting would be more important just because people use it less. Sending e-mails might be quick, but informal, and sometimes not in a respectful manner. As with communications like greetings and congratulations, the phone has a way of lessening the warm feelings. On such occasions, good handwriting has a power of impressing others with your sincerity. On the other hand, handwriting can tell one's personality, as no two people have identical ways of handwriting. And good handwriting would have an even greater effect when people are getting used to the same typed letters. To sum up, to practice one's handwriting is not only necessary but also important in the modern world.Writing task 4Directions: For this part, you will write a short passage entitled On Overall Quality of College Students. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below.1. 近年来,全社会越来越重视培养大学生的综合素质2. 综合素质重要的原因3. 如何培养综合素质On Overall Quality of College StudentsIn recent years, there is a growing public concern over the overall quality of college students. Many people, including employers and educators, regard it as an attribute that a college student should possess. Two factors have led to the awareness of the importance of overall quality. To begin with, although college graduates have acquired the scientific knowledge needed in their careers, they cannot endure the hardships in their lives, nor can they get on with other people who have a different personality. Besides, as science and technology have developed quickly, college students face more challenges and they are expected to become a generation with well-developed overall quality. Therefore, we cannot overestimate the importance of cultivating students' overall quality. To meet the requirements of the society, college students should realize that it is their top priority to cultivate the overall quality. They should build up their bodies as well as their personalities. While acquiring knowledge at college, they should get to know the society through social practice and making contact with different people. Thus, they will develop an all-round ability with which they will meet the challenges ahead of them and become the pillars of our country.Writing task 5Directions: For this part, you will write a short passage entitled Higher Education in China. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below.1. 高校曾是令许多人向往的地方,如今却出现了一些学生放弃上大学的现象2. 有些人认为这是因为我国高等教育存在着一些问题3. 在我看来……SampleHigher Education in ChinaUp to now, the Chinese higher education system has developed for more than 30 years. In the past, it was many young people's dream to be accepted by universities. However, in recent years, some students are determined to give up the chances to go to university, which should be paid great attention to.Some people have pointed out there are some problems with our higher education system. Firstly, some courses are tedious and outdated, but students do not have the rights to choose the courses they prefer. Secondly, test-oriented education has made the examination play a leading role in judging students' abilities. Consequently, practical skills are neglected and passing examinations seems to be the final target for most students. Thirdly, high tuition has prevented many intelligent students from entering universities. As we know, the average tuition per year in universities is 5,000 yuan, which could possibly put many low-income families in debt. About 60 percent of China's college students come from rural areas, where most families have to spend 70 percent of their income to cover tuition. From my perspective, our universities should take some measures to reform the curriculum and administration systems, providing more practical courses or professional training for students, and giving students more options to choose the courses they like. Besides, the government should intensify the support for the students in poverty. Only in this way can numerous outstanding youths spring out and higher education in China reach a new level.Writing task 6Directions: For this part, you will write a short passage entitled Living off Campus. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below.1. 一些大学生选择校外租住2. 这样做有何好处和弊端3. 我对此现象的看法Living off CampusInstead of living on campus, an increasing number of college students prefer to live outside in a rented apartment. This phenomenon is disputed, attracting support as much as opposition.Living off campus has both advantages and disadvantages. There are some clear advantages. Students don't have to share a room with several roommates, but have a room to themselves without disturbing others or being disturbed. They can also enjoy more freedom and a quieter learning environment. However, there are more disadvantages of doing so. The most important ones are as follows. To begin with, the students' personal safety can't be guaranteed. In addition, communication with their classmates will inevitably be reduced. Last but not least, freed of the disciplines and supervision that resident students are subject to, the students who live off campus tend to be distracted from their academic studies and worse still, to fall into ill habits. To sum up, I think the disadvantages of living off campus far outweigh its advantages. Therefore, universities should forbid their students from doing so, and at the same time provide them with more pleasant living conditions.Writing task 7Directions: For this part, you will write a short passage entitled Living a Low-carbon Life. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below.1. 你对低碳生活的理解2. 为什么要提倡过低碳生活3. 如何过低碳生活Living a Low-carbon LifeLow-carbon life has become a heated topic recently across the globe. As I see it, low-carbon life refers to a kind of lifestyle in which people do their best to reduce energy consumption as well as greenhouse gas emissions, mainly carbon dioxide. The reasons why we advocate the low-carbon life are various. But the main reason is that the present environment in which we live has been getting worse, which threatens our survival. For instance, there are more kinds of pollution; the greenhouse effect makes our planet warmer and warmer. All of these things are mainly caused by the greenhouse gases. In one word, our homeland is at great risk and a low-carbon life may be a good solution to the problem. Then how can we live a low-carbon life? Firstly, everyone should raise the awareness of low-carbon life and know our responsibility. Secondly, we should develop good habits in our daily life. For example, we can choose bikes or public means of transportation rather than private cars; we can turn all the lights off when we leave the classroom; we can take a shorter shower, and so on. I believe that with every effort we make, the environment will become better and better.范文点评此文是涉及环保话题的论述文。

Without this crucial tool, life would probably come to a standstill. In many countries, financial transactions are done entirely online. So if the Internet were to stop working, it could cause many hassles for the users.People all over the world are connected through the Internet. However, it can also be easy to distract yourself and waste countless hours of your time.Sample 2 – Essay on Internet 500+ WordsThe United States is responsible for inventing the Internet in the 1960s; however, it was initially known as ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), a project funded by the United States Department of Defence. It was quite primitive and transferred data through“packet switching,” which would later go on to become a fundamental aspect of the Internet. It took a few more decades before the Internet became widely accessible. By the 1970s and 80, the technology grew to a more recognizable form. And by the late 1990s, most households were connected to the Internet. Though it was very primitive, it set the stage for future events that would change the world. The first-ever website went live on the 6th of August, 1991. It was dedicated to the World Wide Web project and provided relevant details about the same. The original address still exists–>http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject. html. However, there are no instances of the original page instead, the link leads to the version taken in 1992. Ever since then, countless websites came into existence on the world wide web. Today, as of January 2019, there are over 1.94 billion websites. This number is only expected to grow in the coming years.Essay on Internet and Its UsesThe Internet is one of the best tools for productivity today. A student can learn any subject from vast online resources. Technicalsubjects can be explained better through videos or online guides. Abstract subjects like mathematics can be better understood through online practice pages and forums. Writers can find inspiration online. Moreover, the Internet can host many distractions and illegal activities; hence, one should be careful not to get entangled in it.Another essential concept readers should know about the Internet is the dark web. To understand the dark web better, consider this analogy: An iceberg floats on water, but only 10-15 percent of the entire structure is visible abovethe waterline. The dark web is the part of the iceberg present below the waterline. So why does this part of the Internet exist? Conclusion on Internet Essay in EnglishImportant information, such as credit card numbers, online banking details exist on the dark web, and it is heavily encrypted. The bar chart shows the number of social networking sites visited by internet users in Canada in 2014 and in 2015. We can see from the data that, in general, there was a growing tendency to use more than one site. Although just over one fifth of internet users did not use any social networking sites in either of the years, the proportion in this category decreased from 22 percent in 2014 to 21 percent in 2015. In both years the highest proportion of users in any group fell into the ‘One site’ category. However, this group declined sharply from 36 percent in 2014 to 28 percent in 2015. In contrast, the numbers who reported using two sites, three sites, four sites and five sites all grew over the period analysed. In both years the proportion of internet users fell as the number of social networking sites increased, with only 2 percent using five sites in 2014 compared to 4 percent in 2015.

雅思写作Task1柱状图考官范文(17)The graph below shows the number of Computer and Internet users in different Arab countries.Write a report describing the information in the graph below.Sample Answer:The chart shows striking differences in the level of computer and Internet penetration in the Arab world. The UAE and Kuwait are by far the most computerized countries, with Lebanon a distant third. The UAE has over 150 computers for every 1000 inhabitants, compared to Kuwait's 130 and Lebanon's 60. In contrast, countries such as Egypt, Morocco and Syria have less than 20 computers per 1000 inhabitants. There are also great differences in Internet use and availability. The UAE has by far the highest proportion of users, with more than one-third of its population using the Internet. Kuwait and Lebanon are second and third again, with 100 users per thousand in Kuwait and 80 in Lebanon. In some countries the number using the Internetis negligible: Saudi Arabia has less than 20 users per thousand, and there are fewer than 5 users per thousand in Syria. One unusual feature of the graph is that Internet use does not seem to be directly related to the number of computers. In several countries (the UAE, Lebanon, Jordan and Oman), there are more Internet users per thousand people than computers. However, in other countries, such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Syria, the number of Internet users is lower than the number of computers. In summary, there are major differences between computer use and Internet use in the Arab world, but the UAE clearly leads the area in both number of computers and number of internet users per capita.(Approximately 245 words)( This model answer can be followed as an example of a very good answer. However, please note that this is just one example out of many possible approaches.)。

Employer support is more commonly given to younger students.Around 80% of students aged under 26 study to further their careers, whereas only 10% study purely out of interest. The gap between these two proportions narrows as students get older, and the figures for those in their forties are the same, at about 40%. Students aged over 49 overwhelmingly study for interest (70%) rather than for professional reasons (less than 20%). Just over 60% of students aged under 26 are supported by their employers. The amount spent by French people on tennisLINEThe line graph compares the percentage of people aged 65 or more in three countries over a period of 100 years. It is clear that the proportion of elderly people increases in each country between 1940 and 2040. Japan is expected to see the most dramatic changes in its elderly population. In 1940, around 9% of Americans were aged 65 or over, compared to about 7% of Swedish people and 5% of Japanese people. The proportions of elderly people in the USA and Sweden rose gradually over the next 50 years, reaching just under 15% in 1990. By contrast, the figures for Japan remained below 5% until the early 2000s.Looking into the future, a sudden increase in the percentage of elderly people is predicted for Japan, with a jump of over 15% in just 10 years from 2030 to 2040. By 2040, it is thought that around 27% of the Japanese population will be 65 years old or more, while the figures for Sweden and the USA will be slightly lower, at about 25% and 23% respectively. In 1990, almost 90% of 14 to 24 year olds went to the cinema at least once a year. On the other hand, the leisure/education category has the lowest percentages in the table.Out of the five countries, consumer spending on food, drinks and tobacco was noticeably higher in Turkey, at 32.14%, and Ireland, at nearly 29%. The proportion of spending on leisure and education was also highest in Turkey, at 4.35%, while expenditure on clothing and footwear was significantly higher in Italy, at 9%, than in any of the other countries. It can be seen that Sweden had the lowest percentages of national consumer expenditure for food/drinks/tobacco and for clothing/footwear, at nearly 16% and just over 5% respectively. Spain had slightly higher figures for these categories, but the lowest figure forleisure/education, at only 1.98%.The table below shows the proportion of different categories of families living in poverty in Australia in 1999.The table gives information about poverty rates among six types of household in Australia in the year 1999.It is noticeable that levels of poverty were higher for single people than for couples, and people with children were more likely to be poor than those without. Poverty rates were considerably lower among elderly people.Overall, 11% of Australians, or 1,837,000 people, were living in poverty in 1999. Aged people were the least likely to be poor, with poverty levels of 6% and 4% for single aged people and aged couples respectively.Just over one fifth of single parents were living in poverty, whereas only 12% of parents living with a partner were classed as poor. The same pattern can be seen for people with no children: while 19% of single people in this group were living below the poverty line, the figure for couples was much lower, at only 7%.The table below gives information about the underground railway systems in six cities. The table shows data about the underground rail networks in six major cities. While only third in terms of size, the Tokyo system is easily the most used, with 1927 million passengers per year.Of the three newer networks, the Washington DC underground is the most extensive, with 126 kilometres of route, compared to only 11 kilometres and 28 kilometres for the Kyoto and Los Angeles systems. The Los Angeles network is the newest, having opened in 2001, while the Kyoto network is the smallest and serves only 45 million passengers per year.MIXThe chart gives information about UK immigration, emigration and net migration between 1999 and 2008.Both immigration and emigration rates rose over the period shown, but the figures for immigration were significantly higher. Net migration peaked in 2004 and 2007.In 1999, over 450,000 people came to live in the UK, while the number of people who emigrated stood at just under 300,000. The figure for net migration was around 160,000, and it remained at a similar level until 2003. From 1999 to 2004, the immigration rate rose by nearly 150,000 people, but there was a much smaller rise in emigration. Net migration peaked at almost 250,000 people in 2004.After 2004, the rate of immigration remained high, but the number of people emigrating fluctuated. Emigration fell suddenly in 2007, before peaking at about 420,000 people in 2008. As a result, the net migration figure rose to around 240,000 in 2007, but fell back to around 160,000 in 2008.The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries. The charts compare the amount of water used for agriculture, industry and homes around the world, and water use in Brazil and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is clear that global water needs rose significantly between 1900 and 2000, and that agriculture accounted for the largest proportion of water used. We can also see that water consumption was considerably higher in Brazil than in the Congo. In 1900, around 500km³ of water was used by the agriculture sector worldwide. The figures for industrial and domestic water consumption stood at around one fifth of that amount. By 2000, global water use for agriculture had increased to around 3000km³, industrial water use had risen to just under half that amount, and domestic consumption had reached approximately 500km³.In the year 2000, the populations of Brazil and the Congo were 176 million and 5.2 million respectively. Water consumption per person in Brazil, at 359m³, was much higher than that in the Congo, at only 8m³, and this could be explained by the fact that Brazil had 265 times more irrigated land. The diagram below shows the water cycle, which is the continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. The picture illustrates the way in which water passes from ocean to air to land during the natural process known as the water cycle.Three main stages are shown on the diagram. Ocean water evaporates, falls as rain, and eventually runs back into the oceans again.Beginning at the evaporation stage, we can see that 80% of water vapour in the air comes from the oceans. Heat from the sun causes water to evaporate, and water vapour condenses to form clouds. At the second stage, labelled ‘precipitation’ on the diagram, water falls as rain or snow.At the third stage in the cycle, rainwater may take various paths. Some of it may fall into lakes or return to the oceans via ‘surface runoff’. Otherwise, rainwater may filter through the ground, reaching the impervious layer of the earth. Salt water intrusion is shown to take place just before groundwater passes into the oceans to complete the cycle.BrickmanufacturingHere are my 2 main paragraphs describing the steps:At the beginning of the process, clay is dug from the ground. The clay is put through a metal grid, and it passes onto a roller where it is mixed with sand and water. After that, the clay can be shaped into bricks in two ways: either it is put in a mould, or a wire cutter is used.At the fourth stage in the process, the clay bricks are placed in a drying oven for one to two days. Next, the bricks are heated in a kiln at a moderate temperature (200 - 900 degrees Celsius) and then at a high temperature (up to 1300 degrees), before spending two to three days in a cooling chamber. Finally, the finished bricks are packaged and delivered.'process diagram' detailsLooking at the coffee production process in detail, coffee beans must first be picked in the fields. These beans are then dried, roasted, and cooled before being put in a grinding machine, which turns the beans into coffee granules. At the sixth stage in the process, the ground coffee is mixed with hot water, and the resulting mixture is strained. Next, the mixture is frozen and then passed once again through the grinder. After that, the ground, frozen liquid is dried in a vacuum so that the water evaporates, leaving the coffee granules. Finally, these granules are packed into coffee jars for delivery to shops.Did you notice the passives and sequencing phrases?- Passives: must be picked; are dried, roasted and cooled; is mixed...- Sequencing: then; and; at the sixth stage; next; after that; finally...。

The table below gives information about changes in modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000.This diagram above compares the statistics about changes in modes travel in England between 1985 and 2000. There are significant changes in every kind of travel. We can see from the table, the increased figures contain car, long distance bus, train, taxi and other kinds of travel. The greatest increase was average distance of car, growing by 1607 miles from 1985 to 2000. Next came the other’s, rising from 450 miles in 1985 to 585 miles in 2000. Moreover, average distance of long distance bus, train and taxi increased by 70 miles, 77 miles and 29 miles respectively. On the contrary, data of walking, bicycle and local bus decreased in the same period. The least decline was average distance of local bus, falling by 2 miles. It is also the least change in the table. The average distance traveled by walking declined significantly form 255 to 237, while there was a slight drop in walking, by 7%.There was a significantly upward tendency in the average distance of travel in England between 1985 and 2000. We can assume that people in England traveled more than 15 years ago in 20002. The table below shows us the information on incomes, taxes and prices in fiveThe diagram above compares the figures on average hourly wage, taxes and monthly rent for 4-bedroom flat in five cities, namely, Athens, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, and Tokyo. As is shown in the table, Geneva offers the highest wages (13 pounds), and its taxes and rents are 26.6% and 1300 pounds respectively. In comparison, people in Hong Kong earn the least (3 pounds) as well as paying the least taxes 15%, but the rent is higher, on a position of 2400 pounds. The highest taxes are found in London where the salaries and rents are all at a medium level (7 and 1200 pounds respectively). In terms of the rents, people live in Tokyo need to pay the most (5300 pounds) which is over 7 times of the price in Athens. Simultaneously, their wages are relatively higher (12 pounds), while the incomes of Athens are 4 pounds. The taxes of the two cities are very close (19.3% VS. 18.9%).It is difficult to determine which city may offer the best average lifestyle. However, London may be a place where people earn less but need to pay more.ExerciseYou should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The table below presents information about the Australian economy in the late 1980s.
Many people, including employers and educators, regard it as an attrib ute that a college student should possess.

雅思13test1writing task 1范文The IELTS Test is designed to assess the English language skills of individuals who wish to study or work in English-speaking countries. One of the sections of the test is the Writing Task 1, which requires test takers to analyze and interpret visual information, such as graphs, charts, or diagrams, and present key features or trends. In this task, I will provide a sample response for the Writing Task 1 of IELTS Test 1 from Cambridge IELTS 13. The given chart displays the percentage of children from four different countries who used the Internet between the years 2009 and 2014.The chart presents information on the Internet usage of children aged 5 to 15 in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and France. The data is divided into three categories: those who never used the Internet, those who used the Internet less than once a week, and those who used the Internet once a week or more.Overall, the chart illustrates an increasing trend in Internet use among children fromall four countries between 2009 and 2014. In addition, it demonstrates significant differences in Internet usage patterns among these countries.Starting with the United Kingdom, in 2009, approximately 10% of children never used the Internet, while around 35% used it less than once a week. About 55% of children in the UK were regular Internet users, spending at least one hour per week online. Overthe five-year period, the percentage of non-users decreased steadily, dropping to around 3% in 2014. Conversely, the proportion of children using the Internet less than once a week remained relatively stable. Meanwhile, the percentage of those using the Internet once a week or more increased significantly to reach approximately 85% in 2014.In Spain, the initial figures in 2009 showed that around 18% of children never had access to the Internet. In contrast to the UK, the percentage of non-users increasedslightly to nearly 20% in 2014. Similarly, around 45% of Spanish children used the Internet less than once a week in 2009, with this percentage remaining relatively unchanged by 2014. On the other hand, a drastic increase occurred in the proportion ofchildren who used the Internet once a week or more, rising from around 37% in 2009 to over 60% in 2014.Turning to Italy, the data indicates that almost 20% of children did not have access to the Internet in 2009. This number decreased to approximately 8% in 2014. Additionally, the percentage of children using the Internet less than once a week remained relatively unchanged at around 40%. However, a remarkable upward trend is evident concerning children who used the Internet once a week or more. This figure started at around 40% in 2009 and ended at approximately 80% in 2014.Finally, in France, the percentage of non-users was the highest among the four countries in 2009, with over 20% of children not accessing the Internet. By 2014, this proportion substantially decreased to roughly 5%. Similarly, the percentage of children using the Internet less than once a week remained relatively steady. Conversely, the proportion of those who used the Internet once a week or more experienced a dramatic surge from approximately 30% in 2009 to about 75% in 2014.In conclusion, the chart illustrates the changing patterns of Internet usage among children aged 5 to 15 in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and France between 2009 and 2014. Despite disparities among these countries, there was a general increase in Internet use, with the majority of children using the Internet regularly by 2014.。

TASK 1【题型 1】Line Chart【题⽬目】【范⽂文】The line graph shows the changes in the proportion of spending on three social causes as a share of GDP in a certain country since 2000, and predicts their trends up until 2025.The expenditure on education in 2000 stood at five percent, slightly higher than the figures for healthcare and railroads. It had grown to reach a peak of almost 7% in 2005 before decreasing constantly to around 5% in present year. It is estimated that this reduction will continue, ending at 4%. In contrast, healthcare spending showed an upward trend, with only 4% in the first year, rising gradually by 2% in 2015, which overtook the figure for education counterpart. The proportion of money spent on this public sector is projected to experiencean even more significant growth during the future seven-year period, and approximately 8% of the public fund is likely to go to this area by 2025, twice as much as the figures for the other two sectors. In addition, apart from a marginal decline over the first half of the ten years in the survey, the percentage of spending on railroads, despite some fluctuations, has remained steady at roughly 3.8%. Such figure is predicted to be more stabilized at this level from 2017 to 2025.Overall, it is expected that the disparity of the expenditure on these three sectors will be widened, with more funding being directed towards public medical services. On the other hand, quite a small number of the seniors (5%) were unpleased with the school canteen, which was tripled in the junior group. When it came to the evaluation of social facilities, two groups presented quite an opposite attitude. Almost all the students in the first degree were content (85% with high satisfactory and 14% for quite satisfied). However, nearly half of the advanced students felt disappointed on the school social facilities, with only 21% high satisfactory.Overall, most of school facilities meet the expectation of the respondents, but more improvement on the social facilities was required among the postgraduates. A person in North America consumes 60 grams of animal protein and 40 grams of other kinds of protein on average, which is also true in Latin America. The total protein consumption in East Africa is around 95 grams, mainly as a result of their lower intake of protein from animals (55 grams). Yet, the Indians consume a smaller amount of protein from both sources, despite the gap being not significant, with 50 grams of protein from animal products and approximately 35 grams from other sources. In terms of average calorie intake, the pattern seems to be strikingly different. The consumption of calories per day in North America exceeds the calorie-intake standard by 700 units, reaching nearly 4200 per person, which is almost twice as many as consumption figures in the rest of the areas listed. While about 2500 units of calories are taken in from the food by the people in East Africa and Latin America, slightly lower calorie consumption is documented in India (2200 units).Overall, the average calorie intake among the four areas surveyed varies to a greater extent compared to the average intake of protein. It is obvious that the most significant income source of the three years is hiring rooms, followed by funding from other bodies and funding from town council. Interestingly, the income of Café, although only accounting for a small proportion of the total revenue, witnesses a noticeable increase, rising from £3,000 in year 1 to £4000 in year2 then 6,000 in year 3.The profit, however, shows a downward trend throughout the period, due largely to the stable increase in expenditure incurred on maintenance etc. and the gradual and small decline in funding from town council and other bodies. High-income families provided most college students. The total number of university students and the amount of government sponsorship experienced quite opposite trends during the period in question. Starting at 300,000 in 1984, the figure for university students climbed rapidly to nearly 450,000 in 1994. Conversely, these ten years brought a sustained decline to government funding which dropped from 15000 to about 13500 euros. Afterbouncing back a little, the funding reached the trough at merely 11000 euros in 2004. In contrast to this, the year 2004 witnessed a peak for number of college students, at as much as 500000. The last five years, however, saw a slow rise in government spending, while college students started to level off.As for the family backgrounds of these students, an overwhelming 52% of them came from affluent households, which doubled each of the rest two groups. In general, the pie chart shows that temperature control, both for heating and cooling, is the major user, followed by water heating, and the table shows that energy consumed per capita drops as household size increases.Heating and cooling devices account for almost 40% of total energy, and water heating consumes a quarter total household power. Other appliances, such as dishwashers, televisions and smaller items, make up 16% of energy consumption. Slightly less than half that amount (75) is used for both refrigeration and lighting. Standby power comprises a remarkable 3% compared with stoves, ovens and other cooking equipment that expand only 4% of household energy. The table shows that a single person’s electricity usage is 5,000 to 6,500 kWh per annum, whereas two people use a similar amount or not much more. A three-person Australian household typically uses about the same as two people (6,000-8,000) or perhaps up to 10,000 kWh. Six people or more living in the same house only double the consumption of a two-person household. In summary, all forms of heating and cooling —air temperature, water, refrigeration and cooking—are major consumers of energy in Australia houses, and it is more economical to live in a larger household. In general, there was anincrease in travel over the period. The use of public transport markedly increased, while private car usage declined slightly.Light rail and bus usage was approximately the same in 1985, at around 5 million trips, but in 1990 light rail saw a dramatic increase to reach approximately 7.8 million trips by 2000. By 2010, this was the most popular form of transport at just over 8 million trips. Usage of buses remained steady as trains grew in popularity, but in 2000, this also started to grow to a high of just over 7 million trips in 2010.In 1985, private cars were the most popular form of transport in Metropolis, at just over 6 million trips. However, there was a small but steady decline in car usage to just under 6 million in 2010. Overall, although the two cities have approximately the same annual rainfall, the distribution of rain over the year is widely different. In general, Moscow has a more even yearly rainfall that San Francisco. Rain average about 50mm in the months of January to March, dropping to an annual low of just under 40 mm in April. It then rises steadily to a high of about 90 mmin June, and slightly less in July and August, and from that point on it fluctuates, dropping at the end of year to about 45 mm in December. In contrast, San Francisco illustrates a different trend. It has a widely fluctuating rainfall, with significantly greater annual variation. December, January and February are by far the rainiest months, averaging just under 120 mm in each of these months. From March onwards, there is a dramatic drop to less than 10 steadily and evenly to the December high of about 110 mm.The chart shows us that Moscow has the most rain in July and August, as a time when San Francisco is virtually dry. Notably, 85% of the engineering teachers were male and only 15% female. Three quarters of the academic staff in education were women, with just 25% males. However, other faculties were more balanced in their composition. In medicine, gender representation was almost equal, while in arts subjects slightly more thanhalf the academics were female (55%). It is interesting to note that business and science had the same proportions of men and women, with 65% male to 35% women at 40%.Although the faculties of engineering, business, science and law were still primarily male-dominated in 2012, women made up half the faculty of medicine and were predominant in education and arts.(157 words)【⾼高分表达】1.a large gender disparity …很⼤的年龄差异2.more balanced in …⽐…更平衡3.the same proportions of … 有相同⽐例【题型 10】Table Chart【题⽬目】The table below give information about Favorite Pastimes in different countries.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. From 30 - 50 years oldTV Sport Reading Hobbies Music Beach Sleep Canada60221540302France//30204//England//30214/20Australia653015455304Korea22216045224China152********USA6023154223302Japan//62////【范⽂文】This table clearly presents and compares favorable pastimes in eight different countries. The pastimes, across the top of the table, are analyzed in relation to each country. As can be seen, about 60% of Canadians, Australians and Americans like watching television. On the other hand, this figure is quite low for China where only 15% of people watch television. Predictably, Americans like music at 23%, whereas only 2 to 5% of people in the other countries feel the same way. 20% of people in England enjoy sleeping as a pastime whereas in Canada and the USA, for example, the figure is only 2%. Interestingly, the Chinese like hobbies the most at 50%, as opposed to only 20% in France. It isn't surprising that the highest percentage of beach-lovers is in Australia and the USA at 30%.It seems that pastimes of people of different nationalities may be influenced by a number of factors such as the socio-economic situation or the climate. Thesefactors influence cultural differences between different nationalities and make cross-cultural experiences more interesting. A large area behind the hospital was turned into a car park, while the area behind the shopping centre was farmland.By 1980, the shopping centre had been demolished in order to make way for two additional hospital building which became a pharmacy and a cancer centre. Furthermore, the hospital gained the farmland and converted it into a nursing school. In 2000, the main hospital building remained unchanged but the cancer centre was extended to cover the entire nursing school. As a result of this, the original car park was divided into two so that it provided a smaller car park and a small nursing school.During this period, the hospital has increased in size and, in addition to a new nursing school, a cancer centre has been created and extended. Two of these stages involve actual preparation of the clips, whilethe other two consist of quality control before the clips are sent out from the factory to the retailers to be sold to the public. To begin with, molten plastic is poured into three different moulds depending on the color required; the colors are red, blue and yellow. Once these clips emerge from the moulds a quality control machine checks them for strength. Unsatisfactory clips are rejected. In the third stage in the process the clips are stored by hand into two groups, mixed and single colors. WRITING TASK 1You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The table below gives information about past and projected populationfigures in various countries for different years.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words. The table indicates population figures in four different countries, namely Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States both in the past (the year 1990, 1993 and 2000) and the future (the year 2020 and 2050).It is immediately apparent that population in all these countries grew and will continue to climb into the future. The United States accounted for the largest population of all four countries in all the five years, increasing from 249.9 million in 1990 to 258.2 in 1993, and 275.1 in 2000. In contrast, the country with the fewest people was New Zealand, at a mere 3.4 million in 1900. This figure only rose slightly during the decade to 3.8 million in 2000. Australia and Canada experienced moderate increase in their population, from 17.1 and 26.6 million in 1990 respectively, to 19.2 and 31 million in 2000.In accordance with the past trends, population in all countries is predicated to edge up further into the future. In the USA, the two decade following 2000 witnessed an increase of roughly 45 million, compared with an additional rise of only 29 million predicated for the three decade between 2020 and 2050. It is predicated that population will reach 26 and 39 million for Australia and Canada respectively. There will still only be 4.7 million people living in New Zealand in 2050.In conclusion, population growth dominated and will continue such domination for all the years and in all the countries. However, the rate of increase will slow down after 2020. 252WRITING TASK 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Some individuals feel that working from home, while of benefit to employees, is actually a drawback for employers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words. In contemporary society, information technology is enabling us to telecommute, doing all the work while staying at home. In the meantime, some people fear that this development, though beneficial to workers, may be perceived as a drawback for the employers. As I see it, this view is only partly true.Admittedly, telecommuting undermines companies’ interest. To start with, working face-to-face in an office setting brings about high productivity. Thus, if employees communicate with each other only through indirect means, such as telephones and video conferencing, they may create less value for their employers. In addition, employers may have only very limited control on what their employees do at home. The lack of scrutiny and discipline may lead to many problems, with low productivity being the least serious outcome. However, many researchers in the field of management have refuted such claims as ill-founded. Self-discipline and motivation are likely to counterbalance the negative sides of telecommuting. On the other hand, telecommuting has many benefits, for individuals, their company, as well as society as a whole. First of all, working from home save employers time spent travelling to and from work. This, in turn, helps to ease traffic congestion and alleviate air pollution caused by traffic. Second, if employees are able to work at home, they are likely to feel more relax and happy. A good mood is not only beneficial to their health, but also conducive to higher productivity. Finally, thanks to telecommuting, employers now can tap into a larger labour pool, since people who are previously out of the work force due to fixed working schedules and commuting difficulties can now work from home. For example, many mothers can now workpart-time from their home offices without leaving their kids to baby-sitters. Disabled people are also a case in point. In a nutshell, though telecommuting has some drawbacks, they can be offset by the benefits, which are enjoyed by both individuals and their company. In fact, I believe companies should capitalize on the upside of home office by devise guidelines for their home-working employees. 343。
