It gives us a vivid description of the many difficulties and incidents which happen on his journey. From this story, we can see the author's deep love for the sea, travel and adventure, which played a vital role in his life. He not only led us to an appreciation of the beauty and perfection of English language and literature, but also aroused our great interest in exploring something deeper in this field. 英语四六级考前要背的六篇作文

英语四六级考前要背的六篇作文

1. Career or Family: which is more important? When asked about their opinion of career and family, people always respond differently. Some people deem it more important to pursue their career, while there are always other people who argue that family should be the number one in one’s life.It goes without any question that career plays a key role in our life. In the very first place, career can give us an aim to live on. Without career, much of our living time will be certainly wasted. What’s more, career can provide us with a means to live on. Most of the people earn their income from a job. On the other hand, family is also an indispensable part of life, as many people will admit. Family is always regarded as a place where we can escape from troubles in life. In addition, we can obtain a sense of belonging to from family. Without it, anyone will feel lonely and desperate. In my opinion, career and family are not in opposition to each other. Rather, they can enhance each other so that one’s life can become better and better. Therefore, it’s not a choi ce between right and wrong, but one between ideal and practical.2. Olympics and IDear friend,I have a great news to inform here. Through long efforts, Beijing has been granted the right to host 2008 Olympic games. As a resident in Beijing, I feel quite excited and like to share with you my happiness. This success means a lot more than a game to me. In the first place, this Games will definitely promote the development of our economy. According to a recent survey by some experts, this games will raise our GDP by about 3%, and offer about 10,000jobs. What’s more, our culture will be widely recognized and accepted all over the world through the Games. People will come over from every corner of the world, and experience Chinese culture in every aspect. Besides, through the games, our living environment will be greatly improved. For example, the public transportation system will be up-dated. Moreover, it’s known that more trees will be planted, and grassland will be considerably expanded. My friend, I really look forward to the coming of this great Games. As an individual, I’m all ready to offer my help in any way I can. I also hope to invite you all to come here, and watch the games in 2008.Sincerely yours,3. Tourism in ChinaRecent years have seen a tendency in China that tourism is growing faster. According to a recent survey made by some experts, about 47% urban residents travel regularly, and 28% rural residents also make their tour across the country. The survey also shows that more people are interested in tourism, and will join the army in the future.Facing this tendency, we can’t help exploring some underlying factors that are responsible. In the very first place, with the policy of reform and opening up, Chinese people’s living standard has been greatly improved, and therefore, most of them can afford to travel around. What’s more, it is believed that people now take a more positive attitude to tourism, and regard it as a life style. In addition, tourism facilities are becoming better and better. For example, transportation develops fast, and many scenic spots are available now.Though there are still some problems with tourism, Ipersonally believe that tourism should be playing a key role in our life. I also hope that our government will make policies to create a better environment for tourists.4. Income GapThere has been a heated discussion over the growing income gap now. Some people hold that the gap is natural because it reflects different contributions that different people make in their work.. In their view, those people with high income work hard and long. Besides, these people bring high efficiency, and create more wealth. Accordingly, they deserve high pay.On the other hand, there are always some people who view this gap negatively. They believe that a lot of crimes happen as a result of this income gap. Some people make so little from their work that they risk taking criminal acts to get rich. In fact, experts have long found out that most cases of crime are directly related to low income. There is another point to back up a negative view against income gap. For most people, income gap may destroy the satisfaction that they obtain from work.As anything has two sides, so has the problem of income gap. Personally, I believe that this gap may motivate people to compete better in job market. When this gap is growing too wide, however, our government should make some policies to get rid of its negative consequences.5. Knowledge is powerAs a popular saying goes, knowledge is power. With our country developing fast, the importance of knowledge is becoming more and more obvious to us all.In the very first place, with knowledge, one can easily find jobs. It is often said that we are entering a new age of information, and knowledge plays a key role in this age. For example, if onewants to work in IT field, one needs to improve his knowledge constantly. What’s more, knowledgeable people can get quick promotion in their work. As is often the case, a person in charge of an organization is the one who has most knowledge. In addition, more knowledge is also needed to make our life rich and fulfilled.Accordingly, we must try hard to acquire as much knowledge as we can. Luckily, a lot of means may enable us to do so. Among other things, web proves the best and fastest way to get information.6. Saving animalsThere is an undeniable fact that the number of animals is declining faster than ever before. According to a recent survey made by some experts, about 37 species disappear from our earth every year. It is obvious that the problem has become a serious one worth our concern. When we explore this problem, some underlying factors emerge. In the very first place, human beings have played a big part. With the fast development of human society, the environment is much destroyed, and animals lose their home. Accordingly, some species become extinct. What’s more, people hunt animals for food and skin. A good case in point is that the Japanese have killed a lot of whales because they like to eat the meat. In addition, human beings are largely responsible for the pollution of natural environment, and poison animals in many ways. The current problem, I believe, should be solved immediately. First of all, our government should play a key role in making relevant rules and protecting animals. The general public should also be educated to value the existence of these animals on ourplanet.编辑建议:大家注意不要照搬照抄影响考试得分,而要理会其中思路。

No subjects can be taught successfully mere ly through being approached with intent [n. 意图;目的;含义/adj. 专心的;急切的;坚决的]to take examinations. In addition, the most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. 四六级考范文背诵50篇

1大学英语四六级考试易考范文背诵50篇Topic 1 The Necessity of ExaminationAs regards examination, there has been a heated discussion among the general public in our society.People who believe in its necessity may have some arguments as follows. To begin with, examination helps to tell the better-behaved from the worse-behaved students. What’s more examination may stimulate the students to work harder. Take Xiao Wang as an example, a student from Hebei Normal University, he used to have poor command of English. However, under the pressure of College English Test Band 4,he made great progress and can now speak fluent English. By contrast, some people think that examination may give rise to a series of negative effects. They maintain that examination can not always faithfully reflect one’s study performance. It is believed that too many students may be mislead and neglect the improvement of practical ability. Examples of “High marks but poor competence” are often cited on different media.Just as any coin has two sides, it’s no exception with the issue of examination. Students should develop a right attitude toward it and strike a balance between examination and practical ability achievement.[00:00.30]Topic 2On Self-employment of College Graduates .Nowadays, our government encourages college graduates to employ themselves by starting their own career. If their plan is creative and original, the government will grant a financial aid to them. This act aims to stimulate graduates’ creativity and alleviate the pressu re of employment. Firstly, the rate of unemployment and underemployment of college graduates is on the rise in recent years because of the competitive job market. Secondly, some graduate employees are not satisfied with the present job and their enthusiasm for work has been frustrated to some degree. Thirdly, some brilliant and ambitious graduates lack start-up capital even though they have a good idea.In conclusion, the act does not only bring many opportunities to college graduates, but also restore their confidence in themselves and the future. Moreover, many job opportunities are created for the society as a result.Topic 3On the Popularity of Internet-based InstructionWith the rapid development of information technology, there is a boom in Internet-based instruction. Most of the universities offer online courses which have gained much popularity among students nowadays. This new way of teaching brings many advantages. Firstly, it gives much convenience and freedom to students. Students can study at any time and any place as they like, even in pajamas睡衣, 宽长裤. Secondly, it is very economical because students are not required to come to the campus, and schools can cut the expenditure on electricity and water supply, doorkeepers’ payment, pa rk lots maintenance and so on. But online learning has drawbacks as well. One of them is that there is no effective way to ensure that students make the required efforts. As for me, I prefer the traditional way of teaching. The face-to-face communication with teachers can give me more encouragement to learn. As a matter of fact, the direct guidance and class interaction benefit me a lot. Topic 6Fashion Pursuit in Colleges.Nowadays students in colleges and universities are in hot pursuit of fashion, which is an unquestionable fact. They are crazy for everything that is prevailing in society, such as owning luxurious mobile phones and wearing blonde curls. Many people think it acceptable for college students to follow fashion. College students are very flexible in thought and are easy to accept new things, so following fashion may well reflect their pioneering spirit and may help them form a good habit for their future career. But on the contrary, some people have the idea that it is imperative to resist the fashion. College students should concentrate themselves exclusively on studies, which should be on the top of their agenda. Holding the right concept of value makes sense. To earn an impressive academic performance, we college students must pour determined efforts into study and pay no attention to vogue时尚.As far as I am concerned, college students should have the spirit of pioneering. However, the spirit cannot always be shown by fashion, but by their academic performance. We should compete with our peers for better scholarly achievement instead of more expensive fashionable clothes.Topic 7Campus Certificates Craze. If you just randomly ask a student on campus what he is busy doing, very possibly, he may answer that he is preparing for a certificate of some kind.Investigating a little more, you will find that this has become a new craze among college students. The reasons behind the phenomenon can be summarized into just one: the pressure of finding a job after graduation. With the admission expansion of colleges, a lot more graduates have to compete for the limited job posts. How to make oneself more competitive? Maybe more certificates at hand. Hoping that the employers might find one of them more attractive, the students are compelled to run from one exam to another. As far as I am concerned, the students should have a more rational attitude toward certificates, because exam certificates do not necessarily represent one’s ability. For me, one should work hard at his or her major. Opportunity will come to you if you are competent enough in your field.Topic 8On College Students’ Taking Part-time Jobs.Nowadays more and more people voice growing concern over college students’ taking part-time jobs. Some people argue that it is unquestionably beneficial to the students inthat it can enlarge their horizon and enrich their experience, while others firmly hold that part-time jobs of all kinds are harmful since they will hinder the students’ normal college study. Personally, I think this question should be probed in depth. On the one hand, the first group is not totally correct because not all part-time jobs are beneficial. Students are somewhat immature and easily led astray误入歧途地by those money-addicted employers. On the other hand, the second opinion seems not so satisfactory because we also witness successful examples in universities home and abroad. Early working experience can be invaluable as the preparation for future career. From what has been discussed above, we can see clearly that the key lies in whether the student in focus is able to strike a successful balance between work and study. Otherwise, the college life will be caught in the so-called vicious circle no matter whether the student takes part-time jobs or not.[00:00.69]Topic 9My View on Amalgamation合并of Universities.Recently there have been many reports of amalgamation of universities. It turns a new page of advanced education in China, and will have far-reaching effects in the forthcoming years. The biggest benefit, in my eyes, is that the merging often results in a comprehensive university with increased overall strength. To take part in international competitions, we need more universities of this kind. In addition, the integration of staff members will significantly improve the quality of both teaching and research. Finally, reorganization will optimize使最优化the disposition安排;布置of limited resources, which is the symbol of successful educational reform.Apart from the benefits mentioned above, we should also face several unavoidable challenges. In the first place, the integration process itself will be difficult even painful—many people may need to sacrifice their own interestsfor the whole university. In the second place, the management of such biguni versities is not easy at all. What’s the most important, the most successful university is not necessarily the largest one or the one with most students the key lies in the unique spirit of the university. Only when we deal with these problems successfully can we benefit the most from university amalgamation.Topic 10My View on Double BA Degree .Recently it has become a common phenomenon for college students to have two majors at the same time.In this way, they can get double BA degrees when they graduate from the university several years later. Although it may bring unfavorable相反的consequences, we can be sure to conclude that this practice is favorable on the whole. To begin with, most students will become more hard working and efficient in order to finish the learning tasks satisfactorily. Moreover, with two degrees at hand after graduation, they will stand a better chance in the job market full of fierce competition.Weighing the pros and cons赞成和反对的理由;利弊;正反两方面;优缺点of such a new trend, we can naturally arrive at the conclusion that it is beneficial and rewarding值得做的;有益的. This system not only compels students to work hard, but also prepares them for the coming competition.Topic 11On Opening Psychological CoursesRecently, more and more educators and common citizens suggest that universities and colleges open more courses which are helpful for students’ psychological health.Personally, I fully agree with their proposal for the following reasons. On the one hand, the ever-increasing pressure of study at the moment andjob-hunting in the future may lead to many psychological problems, such as anxiety, depression and even despair, and the psychological courses open a door for communication and relaxation. On the other hand, such courses can teach students how to regulate调整; 调节feelings and emotions under different situations, which is a good preparation for the future life in the complex society. Finally, these courses also introduce good habits which are conducive to one’s mental and psychological health. To be mature and qualified citizens in the society, students have to do more than study hard.In a word, I warmly welcome the establishment of psychological courses in universities. In my mind, they are good for students’ psychological developme nt. Topic 12Should College Students Have a Credit Card?At present, credit cards, the once exclusive possessions of the rich, have become quite popular on campus. Some college students hold more than one credit card. They use credit cards to buy a variety of goods, such as clothes, stationery, electronic products and other expensive goods. What’s more, they also use credit cards to pay mobile phone bills and other bills. In my opinion, credit cards are not necessities for college students. With credit cards, some students tend to purchase goods on impulse. They can get temporary临时的, 暂时的satisfaction this way; however, hot-headed purchase will leave a heavy financial burden on students. Worse still, if they can not repay debts on time, their dishonest behavior will be recorded. In a world of credit, such a record is definitely unfavorable to the students. Topic 13My View on Remedial ExaminationsRemedial examinations have been part of university education for many years. After careful observation, we can find that it is more complicated than we have thought. On the whole, I should say remedial examinations are necessary for our educational system. On the one hand, some college students are not working hard, and if none of them fail the examination, how can we guarantee the quality of education? On the other hand, by preparing for and taking part in remedial examinations, students can make up for the lost time. If they can learn from thislesson, it will certainly be beneficial for their future life. To make remedial examinations do the job, however, we have to make sure of several points below. For one thing, we should make all the examinations as fair as possible. Some students cheat in the examinations to get high scores, and others beg the teacher for a satisfactory grade. All of these people should be severely punished. For another, teachers should not decide the number of students failing the test before the examination. They should bear a standard in mind, which is comparable across the years. The remedial examination is an important part of college education. Only by planning it wisely and conducting it reasonably can we make best use of it.Topic 14On Overseas StudyLike anything else, overseas study has both advantages and disadvantages. The main benefits of studying overseas are as follows. In the first place, the overseas students can benefit greatly from the higher academic level and the more advanced research facilities in some famous universities. In the second place, it’s the best way to understand a new culture and its people and language. Last but not least, the experience will be invaluable to character building, making most students more independent, diligent and enterprising有事业心的,有胆量的. However, the negative effects are also obvious. To begin with, if a person does not make full preparations before going abroad, he will have great difficulty adapting to the new environment. What’s more, the cultural differences will hinder the regular life in many ways. Finally, money is always a big problem. Many students have to find part-time jobs to earn money to pay tuition and fees. in conclusion, the advantages of overseas study outweigh its disadvantages. Once they return home, the overseas students will make great contribution toour motherland.[00:00.68]Topic 15On Electronic DictionaryThe discussion about electronic dictionary has never stopped in the past few years. Some people hold that it has a lot of advantages. To begin with, it’s extremely convenient. Whenever you meet new words or expressions, you can know the meaning quickly by looking up it. What’s more, it’s becoming cheaper and cheaper, and more and more students can afford it. However, other people argue that its negative effects are also obvious. Firstly, some students rely too much on it—they never put their heart into learning new words and expressions. Secondly, some explanations are neither complete nor accurate, which are quite misleading.Up until now, we can see it clearly that electronic dictionary is not beneficial or harmful in itself. The key lies in its user—so long as we can make proper use of it, it can be most helpful to us in many respects.Topic 16Are College Students Diligent? When we talk about whether college students are diligent or not, we will be most surprised to find that the present situation is so complicated. On the one hand, many students do not cherish their time on campus: Some indulge themselves in video games or Internet chat, and some go shopping or dancing frequently. On the other hand, many others seize every minute to turn their dreams into reality: Some study in library every day including weekends, some conduct experiments until midnight, some collect data for research papers and others take part in all kinds of examinations. Two reasons, in my eyes, can account for this phenomenon. In the first place, the general environment in university is a decisive factor—if most students are fighting for their future, the others will be affected. In the second place, the general social atmosphere also plays an important role—if the reality can always testify to the proverb “Diligence is the mother of success”, students will not hesitate to take action.Topic 17Going on Studying or Going to WorkCurrently, the major dilemma which most students face upon graduation is whether to continue pursuing postgraduate studies or to find a job immediately. Those who decide to go to work immediately cannot wait to put what they have learned into practice. They believe that only by applicationcan they master knowledge in the real sense真正意义上地. Most important of all, they can live on their own and have the feeling of accomplishment for the first time. Other people, however, believe that if a person wants to be an expert in a specialized专门的field, four years in university is far from enough. The best way is to choose a direction and study it in depth. It is not late at all when they go to work, because they start at a much higher level. No matter which choice a student will finally make, he has to be extremely careful to look into his unique situation and consult the predecessors for their advice. He will make the right choice if he knows his goal in life and how to turn it into reality.Topic 18Stepping away from Online GamesNowadays, more and more college students are addicted to online games. Those games may be fun and exciting, but are very harmful to those addicts. In my opinion, there are many disadvantages of game addiction. Firstly, online games take up a lot of players’ time for study. Many of the addicts found themselves forced to drop out of school for poor academic performance. Secondly, addicts tend to isolate themselves from the reality. What’s worse, indulging in the virtual world for a long time, they are more liable to suffer mental problem and physical collapse. Finally, players are exposed to too much violent and unhealthy material, which is definitely harmful to their growth. In short, I cannot see any benefits from online games. Studying should be theprimary concern of college students. Therefore, I do hope they can step away from online games.[00:00.50]Topic 19How to Eliminate Cheating on CampusNowadays, instead of listening attentively in class and working hard after class, a number of students adopt all kinds of dishonest methods to get high scores in examinations. It has become such a serious problem that it has aroused the concern from the whole society. To put an end to such a serious problem, in my mind, it calls for the efforts from all sides. First of all, the university authority should make it clear that any cheating behaviors in the examinations, from whispering, copying and receiving answers via mobile phones to asking ringers for help, will be severely punished with no exception. Moreover, teachers of all subjects should go all the way to restore honesty by setting an example for the youth through speaking sincerely and behaving truthfully.Last but not least, young students, the future of our nation, should view integrity as the prerequisite先决条件,前提to an upright正直的, 诚实的and responsible citizen so as to learn to despise鄙视, 看不起某人(某事) and fight dishonest behaviors throughout the life. Only when all of us join in the efforts of eliminating cheating at all levels can we expect to have a cleaner society and a more beautiful future.[00:00.32]Topic 20Changing the Major in UniversityRecently it has become a common phenomenon for college students to apply for changing their majors. In this way, they can learn what they’re most interested in if their applications are approved.Although it may bring unfavorable consequences, we can be sure to conclude that this practice is favorable on the whole. To begin with, some students can’t choose their favorite major because their entrance examination scores are not satisfactory enough, but the new system of changing major gives them a second chance. Moreover, once they are learning their favorite major, they will probably be more confident and diligent than before. Finally, students learn largely the same basic courses during the first one or two years, so changing major will not bring learning difficulties. In a word, we can naturally arrive at the conclusion that it is beneficial and rewarding. This system not only gives students a second chance to choose their major, but also prepares them for the coming competition.[00:00.61]Topic 21 CreditCredit is of great importance to one’s development. Without credit, one wouldn’t get the trust from others, let alone get help from others or cooperate with others.Howev er, nowadays the whole society is faced with “credit crisis”. To begin with, business is threatened by the lack of credit and trust between enterprises and banks. According to a recent survey conducted by the People’s Bank ofChina, a total amount of 3240 billion Yuan debts were not paid off to banks by the enterprises in the year 2006. In addition, lies often exist between friends. For example, Xiao Wang—my neighbor—was persuaded to buy certain insurance product and turned out to find that he was cheated. What’s more, we have heard lots of news reports that family members cheated each other for their respective benefits. We should take measures to improve people’s sense of credit and establish stricter laws to punish the behavior of those who do not have credit. Only in these ways can we hope to enhance the credit of the whole society.Topic 22Is EQ More Important than IQ?Nowadays, many people in the society hold the idea that 20% of one’s success lies in his Intelligence Quotient, while 80﹪in his Emotional Quotient. People now are more and more aware of the importance of EQ.In my opinion, I fully agree with that. First of all, with a high EQ, one will get along well with his peers and companions, so they can conduct business or finish their work in a harmonious atmosphere and improve the working efficiency. Furthermore, only with high EQ can one be self-restrained and bravely overcome the difficulties encountered in work and life.In brief, a high EQ will make a person become more optimistic, confident and passionate in his work. As the saying goes, one’s character determines one’s destiny, which stresses on the importance of EQ. Therefore, while IQ indeed can’t be ignored, EQ is more vital for one to be successful.Topic 23My View on Global Food CrisisRecently, people are talking about an urgent threat—the global food crisis, and the year 2008 is even defined as The Year of Global Food Crisis. The global food crisis, firstly, can be said to be triggered by the fast population growth in recent decades. With more and more people to be fed, we have to find better ways to increase our agricultural yields. Moreover, while we are striving for a higher civilization, the damages we have done to the environment make much of the world’s soil deteriorate. W ith the land yielding little, there is no wonder that people will go hungry. Last but not least, many farmers in some countries are leaving the land because the cost of production exceeds the return. Some of them work at jobs off the land, and some just lay waste the land altogether.Solving the global food crisis is a big issue, and needs the concern and cooperation of every nation of the world. On an individual level, we should be frugal节约的,节俭的,节省的about the food, and never waste a bit of it.Topic 24 Food SafetyDue to the tainted腐坏的, 污染的, 沾污的, 感染的milk produced by Sanlu Company, many infants were suffering from kidney stone, and some even died. This case, however, is only the latest food safety problem. In the near past, KFC food was found to be tainted by Sudan red, a dangerous chemical that couldcause cancers.Food contamination will result in not only direct health problems, but also other indirect consequences. On the one hand, when a product is discovered to be contaminated, people will have lingering fears ,take Sanlu scandal for instance, when the scandal was brought into the daylight, the company only reaped its bankruptcy, which can affect social stability due to unemployment brought by it.I n order to counter对抗food safety problems, corporate leaders should not only attach importance to short-term profit through adulteration掺杂,掺假货and other unlawful不合法的means. Meanwhile, the government should also perfect its supervision procedures and increase financing for food testing. [00:00.26]Topic 25My View on Freeters飞特族Nowadays, the emergence and rise of freeters in China has caught public attention. Freeters are those who do not have any stable jobs and only earn money when they are in need of it. When they have adequate money, they usually do things at their pleasure. The phenomenon of freeters shows that people can enjoy a flexible schedule and live a desirable life. However, there are some potential problems for them. For one thing, they are always moving and changing jobs; as a result, their welfare can not be guaranteed. For another, they are less likely to have a long-term career development because of too frequent change of jobs. Last but not least, they are possibly not aware that what they do is kind of irresponsibility for their family and the society. To my mind, the rise of freeters manifests social progress. However, the scale of freeters should be controlled; otherwise it will cause problems.Topic 26My View on Self-reliance自力更生From my point of view, self-reliance means doing whatever we can by ourselves, and when facing difficulties, we try our best to deal with the problems rather than rely on others. Self-reliance is vital to everybody in that we can not depend on others all the time. Besides, it is also a sign of growing-up, which means that we can take the responsibilities for the family and the society. Then how can we become self-reliant? Firstly, we should get out of the bad habit of being looked after by our parents. Secondly, we should not ask for help from others easily when we are involved in some troubling situation. Moreover,self-confidence is a precondition of self-reliance, for only when we trust in ourselves, we can be self-reliant. Trust thyself”, so says American author and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson in his famous essay“Self-reliance”.Self-reliance is important to everybody and is one of the key factors that make us successful in life.Topic 27My View On TV ShoppingNowadays, with the fast development of mass media networks, people areexperiencing unprecedented convenience of handling daily matters. TV shopping programs, for example, have made shopping so simple that it has become a fashion and trend that we can hardly resist. However, everything can be a double-edged sword and TV shopping program is no exception. TV shopping has its advantages. Firstly, it is very convenient for consumers to make their purchase without going out and walking wearily from one shop window to another. Secondly, compared with paper advertisements, TV shopping programs show us the goods more vividly. When it comes to disadvantages, it seems that we, as consumers, can hear and see what is presented, but stand a narrow chance of knowing for sure what the goods are really like, and sometimes these salesmen just sweet talk us into buying what we do not need or something of poor quality. While making good use of TV shopping programs, we should be rational about what is advertised on TV and spend our money in a reasonable and cost-effective way.Topic 28 My View on Train Ticket ScalperFor many college students, going back home for the Spring Festival proves to be an ordeal. Despite the efforts of queuing up for several hours or even days, some can not get the tickets. As the last resort, they would turn to train ticket scalpers.According to numerous media reports, illegal ticket deal has become a flourishing茂盛的, 兴盛的and well-organized business. Though illegaltrain-ticket deal does help some home-bounded people, often times ticket scalpers sell fake tickets. Consequently, those with fake tickets will be punished by train conductors. Furthermore, suspicion of scalpers being hand in glove密切合作、互相勾结with railway employees has already resulted in the public anxiety and anger, which will pose potential threat to the social stability. While the railway infrastructure can not be improved in the near future, the only solution to controlling the illegal ticket deal depends on the efficiency of railway system management. If the ticket distribution system is reliable, then scalpers will eventually find their flourishing business doomed.Topic 29On Idol WorshippingIdol worshipping is not a new phenomenon, but the recent cases of unreasonable behaviors conducted by some young people have made it a focus of attention again. Espec ially, a young girl’s father has committed suicide just to wake up his daughter who is possessed by the idea of following her idol wherever he goes. Some people argue that the mass media is to blame for the tragedy, because they always show a picture of glamorous富有魅力的;迷人的movie stars, pop singers and all the other entertainers. They represent a lifestyle that young people desire to have. However, the young people are just not mature enough to distinguish the reality from the dream. Other people believe that it shows the。

1.On Open PolicyThe open policy means that our country is open to investment, trade and technical and economic cooperation with other countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. The purpose of open policy is to acquire advanced technology, management skills to serve our socialist construction so as to promote the realization of the four modernizations. We must adhere to the open policy. Because economic relations between states today have become increasingly close, and no country can possibly advance behind close doors. Only in this way, can we gradually close the gap between our country and the developed countries.Through the implementation of policy, we can learn advanced technology and managerial expertise from abroad; make full use of the foreign capitals to set up great enterprises; absorb useful and healthy ideas and new knowledge of the modern civilization; and broaden our views and raise our level of competence.2. The place of Science and Technology in Modern Life.Human life can not continue without science and technology. For many years, human society has developed with the advance of science and technology while the development of science and technology has in turn brought the process to mankind. So the life we are living now is more civilized than that of our fore fathers. The development of science and technology have brought aboutmany changes in people's life. For example, the invention of television and space rocket have opened a new era for mankind. Through the use of TV people can hear the sound and learn the events happening thousands of miles away. Owing to the invention of spaceship and rocket, the dream of man's landing on the moon has now come true.Science and technology also play an important role in our socialist construction. We may say, our socialist construction is just like a skyscraper, while science and technology are its base. Without the base, the skyscraper can't be built. Therefore, we should try our best to contribute to the development of science and technology so as to providea more solid base to build our country.3. Importance of EducationChina, as a developing country, is determined to catch up with and even surpass the developed ones. I think that one of the best possible ways to do so is to give first priority(优先)to the development of culture, science and especially education. In modern times, when science and technology are making great progress, the education of the work force is of primary importance. Moreover, many of the success in advanced countries have demonstrated that a nation 's prosperity mainly depends on the quality of its labour force, namely those who have been well educated. In a developing country such as China, our investment in culture, education and science, and especially elementary education, must enjoy top priority. This is crucial(决定性的)for China to catch up with the developed nations in today's surging(汹涌的) waves of technological revolution. Otherwise, the gap between China and advanced countries will be widened rather than bridged.4. Air PollutionAir pollution is one of the major problems of the modern world. A great deal of energy is needed to run the factories of modern industrial nations. Automobile, trains, planes and busses need energy, too. Nearly all of this energy is produced by burning fuels. The burning produces wastes, some of which remain in the air, causing air pollution.Scientists are finding ways to stop air pollution especially in big industrial areas and densely-populated cities. They are studying new ways of generating electricity that may be less damaging to the environment. In the meantime, many power plants are being modernized to give off less polluted material. Also, engineers try to design and locate new power plants to do minimum damage to the environment. However, it may be that we still have a long way to go before we have a "clean" world. Nearly all of the countries are trying hard to prevent and control air pollution. There indeed seems to be no end to tasks that environmentalists will be required to do. People will continually find new ways to control pollution.5. Environmental ProtectionToday the quality of our natural environment has become an important issue. The world population is rising so quickly that the world has become too crowded. We are using up our natural resources and at the same time polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue to do this, life on earth cannot survive.Concerned people have made some progress in environmental protection. Governments of many countries have established laws to protect the air, forests and sea resources and to stop environmental pollution.Still more measures should be taken to solve environmental problems. People should be further educated to recognize the importance of the problems, to use modern methods of birth control, to conserve(保存) our natural resources and recycle(再循环) our products. We are sure that we can have a better and cleaner place in the future.6. AutomobilesAutomobiles, as a product of modern civilization, have been playing a vital part in the daily activities of human society. Industry needs automobiles for farming as well as transportation. Every day, automobiles drive people to and from work. On weekends automobiles take families for joyful outings. And during holiday seasons, automobiles fill the highways everywhere, even in remote areas. It could be said that thewheels of automobiles move society forward. But automobiles have also given rise to a series of problems. For example, cities are overcrowded with automobiles. They create a lot of noise and traffic accidents which disable(伤残) or kill many people each year. Worst of all perhaps is the air pollution caused by the exhaust gases produced by automobiles. Some of the gases are highly toxic(有毒的) and a serious health hazard.7. ComputerThe computer is widely used in all fields of society. Today, wherever you go, you will find computers being used. For example, computers are used in universities, large corporations, and small offices, etc. It has even entered the homes of ordinary people. As it is able to store and process a large amount of information, the computer bring about great convenience and high efficiency to people of all walks of life.Computers can help people in different ways. For example, computer help scientists in analyzing data and doing complex calculation. For another example, computers are made use of by engineers in designing a plane, or a spaceship. Besides, computers may also play a great role in helping children with their lesson. Whatever you are doing, you many find computer a useful aid. However, the computer must be designed and instructed by man. What is more, it is true that computers can make decisions, but they needdetailed instructions and programs prepared by humans to operate. Therefore, the computer can never replace the human brain.8. TravellingIt is exciting to visit different places. As you travel, you will see beautiful sceneries typical of the region. Besides, you can meet and make friends with people of different colors and races. Finally, you can get to know the customs and living habits of the local people. Today people are so fond of travelling that tourism has become one of the faster growing industries in most countries. The main reason why people travel is, perhaps, for pleasure. For example, having worked hard throughout the weekdays, people will find a widened trip to the nearby mountains or beaches a real relaxation. For another example, spending an annual holiday travelling abroad is an especially satisfying experience for those who do not have much of an opportunity to be away from their homelands. When people return from their travel, they will generally feel fresh and energetic, ready to work harder.Travelling is also one of the best means for learning. You may have read or heard about something but you can never get an accurate picture of it until you see it for yourself. Seeing is believing. Furthermore, if you area careful observer, you can learn much during your travel about the geography, biology, and history of the places you visit. No matter howwell educated you are, there is always a lot for you to learn through travelling. The knowledge acquired from travel, as you will have found in your life, is no less valuable than that from any influential reference book.9. The World Population ExplosionThe human race has experienced a consistent increase in population since the beginning of its history. Famine and disease have done little to offset(抵消)this steady increase. Too many people are added annually to the population of the world. So both the causes of population increase and the results of having more people are worth careful study.Culture evolution is the major factor responsible for population increase. Early in human development, people invented tools to hunt animals. Later they built shelters to protect themselves. Step by step, they made life easier. As a result, fewer died from natural forces, such as harsh climate and disease. In the past, when population grew, there was unexplored territory to inhabit. But now, almost all the habitable land has been explored. The world's population may reach 8.7 billion in 2033. It is clear that world population is a serious issue that needs careful attention. Human beings are unique to solve problems through cultural evolution.(发展) Facing the world population explosion in the near future. We must carry out the birth control program in order to save the mankind and save the world.10. Opening-door Policy is the Only Way to Make China Strong .Modern Chinese history leads us to the conclusion that socialism, not capitalism is best for China. But how a socialist China should look at capitalism and more importantly, make use of the better side of capitalism for its own advantage is of vital(至关) importance to the country. As far as our country's economic construction is concerned, taking advantage of the part of capitalism that is useful to us means we need to develop foreign trade, introduce advanced technology and better management, and make use of foreign funds. It also means we can absorb some of the economic theories, and make use of those economic policies, methods and measures that comply with(遵循) the law of mass production and a commodity economy.By opening our windows wider to the outside world, people can learn more about other peoples and learn to make sensible judgments. Absorbing the better part of the cultures of other people to enrich ourselves is the best way to safeguard our socialist culture. So taking advantage of capitalism and stepping up economic reforms is the only way to make China strong. Closing the county to international exchanges will only keep it weak.11. Choosing an OccupationEvery one faces the problem of choosing an occupation after graduation from college or university, which plays a vital role in his life.An appropriate occupation makes a man work with zest(热情) and vigor, as well as contribute to his country. To make a wise choice, two important things should be taken into consideration. One is the interest, the other, the demands of people and society. Only if the two aspects are connected, can a man show his talent and ability to the best advantage. If the two conflict, the former should be under the latter, for the people's interests are more important than the individual's.In regard to my choice in the future, I am fond of learning foreign languages; what is more, with the implementation of the Open-Door Policy, exchange between home and abroad in economy and culture has been growing significantly, thus I'm determined to be a qualified interpreter.12. The Brain and the ComputerSome recent developments in the computer industry make scientists predict that the gap between human beings and machines will be closed about the year 20000.To understand the significance of this prediction let us compare the human brain with existing computers. The brain consumes electrical energy at the rate of 25 watts and occupies a volume of one tenth of a cubic foot. The brain houses between 10 billion and 100 billion items of information. Every brain cell is directly connected to many other cells. Asa result, the cells in which information is stored can communicate with thousands of other cells. However, the computer consumes 1000,000 watts of electrical power and occupies hundreds of cubic feet of space. Its million items of immediately accessible information. In contrast, the computer memory is like a cell of pigeonholes, with no thinking capacity and no connections elsewhere. In a word, the electronic brains are hopelessly inadequate in comparison with the human brains.13. Health and LifeAs the saying goes, you don’t know what happiness is until you lose it’you don’t know what health is until you are ill. “Health is of vital importance to life”sounds like a cliche to everyone, but it is absolutely true. The negligence of the delicate balance of your body and soul, the harmful habits such as smoking, excessive drinking and burning mid-night oil will catch up with you someday. How many big plans are interrupted by bad health! Even a normal life is unimaginable without the guarantee of health. How to keep fit is an eternal topic of diversity and controversy. Regardless of all the different suggestions poured from all kinds of sources, one should do at least two things for him/herself. First, hold anactive and optimistic attitude toward life and maintain a mental well-being. Second, live a regular life and keep a balanced diet. Anyway, a healthy life is within reach when you begin to adjust your mind and body.14. Energy ResourcesChina is rich in various energy resources. Coal and petroleum, for instance, are two major ones. They are essential in developing the country's industry, science and technology. China has done a great deal in the past few decades to raise its output of coal and petroleum.Three energy resources are being used up rapidly, With the building of four modernization, new industrial and science projects are springing up like bamboo shoots after rain. They are all big consumers of energy resources. Besides there has been considerable waste in the utilization of these resources. To avoid an energy crisis in the future, the government must take certain measures. First, it should let people know the importance of saving energy. Second, efforts should be made to develop new energy resources, such as solar energy, geothermal(地热) energy and so on. We have reason to be optimistic in this respect.15. CompetitionCompetition makes people original and creative. It very necessary to compete if human society wants to advance. (Even animals compete forsurvival.) Without it, we would become lazy and nobody would rake any responsibility. When three monks live together, there will be no drinking water. This Chinese proverb vividly describes why China's productivity was so low before Mr Deng came to power. At that time, we had the so-called planned economy. There was no competition at all. So neither farmers nor workers worked hard. China was on the edge of collapse.Competition can stimulate people to try their best to do anything. For example, in 100-meter race, each sportsman runs as quickly as possible, trying to win the champion. The same things happen in our society and in our daily life. If a company wants to surpass others, it must compete with them. It must raise its efficiency. All the companies doing this will no doubt benefit the whole society and the whole human race.Being a student, I must compete with other students in our studies. I must study hard in all the fields so that I can be a useful man when I enter the society after graduation.16.Students’ Part-time jobsThere are many advantages for a student to have a part time job. For instance, it helps him to realize that no success comes from nothing. It enables him to be independent and builds up his self-confidence. Therefore, part-time jobs can get the students out of the ivory tower and give them the opportunity to know more of himself and of his personal value in society. As everything has two sides, the disadvantages can’t be ignored. Part-time jobs cut into students’study time; some even become so preoccupied with making money that they ca ‘t focus their attention on studying. In the end, the students may fall behind or fail in their studies. In my opinion, students can choose to take up a job according to their own situation. The most important thing is for him to keep a good balance, put his study on top of the list and assign an adequate amount of time to it.17.Wealth and HappinessEverybody wants to get wealth. In today’s material world, making money or becoming wealthy symbolizes a person’s success and capability. Many people just make every effort, pay any price to attain greater wealth. With money, they can but nice, large apartments in nice neighborhood; with money, they can own stately luxury cars. Wealth seems with money, they can own stately luxury cars. Wealth seems to bring all happiness in life.In my opinion, people cannot do anything without money, but money is not everything. What money will bring you depends on your personal belief and goal in life. If you are kind enough to help others, especially the poor, money is a good thing to you. With it, you can do much more for the benefit of people and your country, and it will and to your own happiness. If you want money just for your own needs, you’llnever be satisfied or happy. In a word, you should have money spent for more people, only then can money be the source of your happiness.18.IdealsEveryone has his ideals. A businessman wishes to make greater profit; a farmer expects bumper harvests; a student tries to learn more and better. And everyone strives, with more or less effort, to realize his ideal. One should be sensible about whether his ideal is well founded or not. If it is, one has to plan and work hard for its realization. Effort, skill and persistence are all necessary. And very often, one has to get help from others, including advice and support in one form or another. My ideal is to become a doctor, It is said that the field of medicine is a well-paid profession, but I take it as a lofty profession entrusted with saving people’s lives. To realize my ideal I have concentrated on laboratory work to develop the analytical skills necessary to become a qualified doctor. I am sure I will realize my ideal if I persevere in this pursuit.19.Popular Sports in ChinaSports are flourishing in china now. More and more people are willing to take part in sports of different kinds, such as table-tennis, football, volleyball, and so on. Every year there are many matches played on the city, provincial or national level. Sports are no longer limited to a few professional players.Early in the morning people may be seen doing exercise. Martial arts (like Chinese boxing or swordplay) which formerly were cultivated for self-defense, now have become a form of physical exercise and are practiced in parks, streets, gardens, or on campuses. In addition young and old people are also often seen running in order to build up their bodies.China promotes sports to enhance the physical condition of its people; she is formulating policies to provide encouragement of this activity. She awards prizes to the excellent players for the best records both in china and the world. In the world the Chinese have become a strong people instead of “the weaklings of East Asia”.20.Is Failure a Bad Thing?Failure is what often happens. It is everywhere in our life. Students may fail in exams, scientists may fail in their research work, and athletes may fail in competitions.Although failure happens to everyone, attitudes towards failure are various. Some people don’t think their failure is a very important thing at all. So they pay no attention to it. As a result, they will have the same failure a period later. Some people think themselves are fools and lose their hearts in everything after they get a failure. Consequently, they spend their time and energy on useless things and they may really be fools as they have thought.Other people are quite different from the two kinds of people mentioned above. Instead of being distressed and lost, they draw a lesson from every failure and become more experienced. After hard work, they will be successful in the end. It is said that failure is the mother of success. Success will be gained after times of failures so long as we are good at drawing lesson from our failures. In my opinion, failure is not a bad thing, the really bad thing is taking a failure as failure or even lose our heart after failure.21.Modernization of Family LifeWith the rapid development of the society, family life is becoming modernized. Years ago, people considered owing radios, sewing machines, watches and bicycles as being modernized. But in recent years, almost all families have TV sets, refrigerators and washing machines. It is very common to see people ride motorcycles or even drive private cars and more and more families have telephones, computers and air-conditioners.The modernization of family life brings us convenience and comfort. One may enjoy TV or radio programs, communicate with his friends through telephone or work with his computer while his washing machine, refrigerator and air-conditioners are running. And by car or motorcycle one can quickly reach wherever he wants to go.In spite of this, these modern facilities also bring us disadvantages. For example, radiation from TV sets and computers is harmful to ourhealth; improper driving of cars and motorcycles becomes the major cause of traffic accidents. The quietness of a family is often disturbed by a falsedialing or unwelcome phone call. But it is believed that these disadvantages will be disposed of with the improvement of modernization and our life will be more healthy and more comfortable.。

大学英语四六级作文CET4-10n Pursuing FashionNowadays, more and more are pursuing fashion. Some of them even cut down the expenditure/expenses on books and meals to satisfy their desire for fashionable dress. The blind following/pursuit of fashion has had a great influence/impact,effect on college students. First of all, the pursuit of fashion has made many college students get lost. Some of them even fail to focus on/concentrate on their study. Secondly, it is a costly hobby to follow the tide, which will impose great financial burden on their parents. As far as I am concerned, college students should cherish ambitions rather than become slaves of fashion. As for them, the main task on computer is not to pursue fashion but to study. All in all, undergraduates should adopt a more reasonable attitude towards the pursuit of fashion.CET4-2The Prevalence of Western Fast FoodFast food is becoming more and more popular in China, especially among children and teenagers. Today, nothing is more representative of the fast pace of modern society than fast food. There are several reasons for its popularity. For one thing, it is fast and convenient. Go into a fast food restaurant, and your food will be ready in a minute. Precious time won’t be wasted waiting-in-line to order or waiting at your table for your food to arrive. For another, its popularity is also attributed to the clean food, the excellent service and the comfortable environment of the fast food restaurant in American style.I think that fast food isn’t healthy enough because it doesn’t compose a balanced diet and is low in nutrition. Fast food is only a good choice when you are in a hurry and we should turn to only once in a while.CET4-3CreditCredit is of great importance to our development and plays a significant role in the society. It is our wealth and way to success. It is the fundamental factor that our society develops in a sustainable way.Unfortunately, the whole society seems to be faced with “credit crisis” nowadays. You don’t need to look far for evidence. The worldwide financial crisis, triggered by borrower’s failure to pay back the money to the banks, is a typical example. Even family members and friends cheat each other, just for their respective benefits. For instance, my neighbor Mark was persuaded by his friend to buy an insurance product last month but it turned out that he was cheated. As college students, we should realize the importance of credit and form a good habit of keeping our word. For instance, if we have credit cards, we should bear in mind paying debts on time. Whenever we make a promise, we should try to keep it. As long as we take credit seriously, we can be trustworthy.1 / 4CET4-4Environmental protectionToday the quality of our natural environment has become an important issue. The world population is rising so quickly that the world has become too crowded. We are using up ournatural resources and at the same time polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If wecontinue to do this, life on earth cannot survive.Concerned people have made some progress in environmental protection. Governments of many countries have established laws to protect the air, forests and sea resources and to stopenvironmental pollution. In my opinion, more measures should be taken to solve environmental problems. People should be further educated to recognize the importance of the problems, to use modern methods ofbirth control, to conserve our natural resources and recycle our products. We are sure that we canhave a better and cleaner place in the future.CET4-5The Advantages of Saving MoneyMany people are fortunate enough to make more money than they immediately need. Whatshould they do with this extra income? Most people would like to enjoy it immediately. There aretoo few saving it. They have no idea how important saving money is.Saving money is of great importance. By saving money, people gain themselves more security.Their savings can spare them a great deal of suffering and help them through a hard time. Inaddition, saving money helps people develop the habit of setting goals and planning for the future. While it is tempting for people to spend all their income on things they desire, as a collegestudent I believe it is better to save at least a portion of the extra income for the future. If we learnto save our money, we will lead a more secure and, thus, happier life.CET6-1Moral Cultivation in Higher EducationWith more negative reports on college students’ immoral behavior appearing in the newspaper, people come to realize the importance of enhancing student s’ moral education. Now, highereducation institutes starts to emphasize more on the young’s moral cultivation, as the primary andmiddle schools do.There is no doubt that moral education is of great significance to human beings and thedevelopment of the society. It is well known that man’s civilization should be governed by law. However, law is not that almighty. There still are many fields that are beyond the reach of law, which makes morality and moral education necessary for our society. Only with moral educationwill the advance of our society be guaranteed. In my opinion, moral cultivation is as important as academic education in colleges. If peoplefocus too much on high marks and neglect moral education, students bred in such an atmospheremay turn out to be graduates with flaws in character, which will do no good to the society in theend. Therefore, it is high time people attached more importance to moral cultivation.CET6-2The Old in the Empty NestTraditionally, most elderly people lived with their children, grandchildren and even grandgrandchildren if possible. However, with the social development, more senior citizens live onlywith their spouses or live alone nowadays. These old people are referred to as “ the old in theempty nest”.There are mainly two reasons for this phenomenon. On one hand, due to the fierce competitionin the job market, millions of young people have to pursue their careers in another area or city faraway from their parents. On the other hand, with the improvement in economy and housingconditions, it is possible for a family to own more than one apartment. Together, the two factorschange people’s former lifestyles and make the empty nest possible.Elderly people in the empty nest are more likely to feel lonely and depressed than those wholive with their children. To alter this situation, joint efforts should be made. The young should tryto spare time and visit their parents regularly. What’s more important is that the senior citizensshould cultivate their own hobbies, join in various activities and turn their focus from theirchildren to their own life, which will help fight with the loneliness.CET6-3NEETThe problem of NEET, once well-known in the UK and Japan, has been brought into publicattention now in China. NEET refers to the group of the young who are not currently engaged ineducation, employment or training. Most of these young people just stay at home or idle about, avoiding employment and relying on their parents. There are mainly two reasons for this phenomenon. For one thing, with the expansion ofuniversity enrollment, an increasing number of college graduates pour into job-hunting marketevery year. Unfortunately, some of them are not fully prepared and thus become unemployed thetime they graduate. For another, some young people are badly spolt as the only child of theirfamily, so they psychologically and financially depend on their parents even when they are alreadygrown-ups.To solve this problem, first, colleges should provide pre-job training courses for the young.Second, parents should cultivate their children the sense of independence. Last but not the least, college students should equip themselves with skills and knowledge so that they will becomecompetitive when seeking jobs.CET6-4Left-behind Children in the CountrysideThere are about 58 million left-behind children in rural China and over 40 millionof them are under 14 years old, according to a report released by the All-ChinaWomen’s Federation in February 2009. The report also found that more than half ofthe children left behind don’t live with either parent. Telephone is often the onlymeans by which they can contact their parents.Left-behind children can not get enough good care and necessary instruction in their everyday lives, including emotional support and study help. The biggest risk forleft-behind children is that they lack of family intimacy. Intimate family care isindispensable to every child’s growth. Since most of the left-behind children are at acritical stage of development, they may develop psychological problems stemmingfrom their parent’s absence. With the number of left-behind children rising rapidly, efforts will be needed from rural families, schools and governments to care for this special group, who need, as itis, more communication from their parents to reduce their loneliness, psychologicalcounseling and relative activities from schools to maintain a healthy mind, and specialhomes set up by local governments where they can meet other kids of the same kindand experience the warmth of society.CET6-5Say No to PlagiarismMany people copy the passages without citing the original contributors while writing theses. Some people even reproduce the theses by simply changing the author’s names and try to pass thematerial as their own. Take the notorious former associate professor of the X University , whocopied a doctoral supervisor’s research results in his theses and sent one paper to different journalfor publication. There is no doubt that plagiarism does great harm. A famous person once called academic plagiarism as a “serious violation of collegial trust, the fundamental principle on which theintegrity of medical journalism depends.” In addition to the violation of trust, it can also offend therights of the original author. It is the “theft of intellectual property” and plagiarists are “stealing”others’ words or ideas without permission. To prevent plagiarism, we may resort to modern technology to detect it beforehand.Although it is generally difficult to detect plagiarism, advances in information technology aremaking it increasingly possible. For example, the availability of dedicated web site designed toprovide information on plagiarism had made it easier for people to detect copying.。

However, still some college students do not like to attend sports activities, they think those activities waste their time and influence their study. Indeed, it is very unwise for college students to keep distance from physical exercise because physical exercise is not harmful but good to them.College students can benefit a lot from physical exercise. First of all, attending physical sports can help students build a strong body, and keep abounding energy. Moreover, physical exercise is an effective way to relief pressure and keep a pleasant move. Besides, by attending physical activities, students can have chances to contact and communicate with others which can help them improve their social skills. Nowadays, all colleges and universities have provided many sports facilities for students to do physical exercises, students can chose freely according to their interests and needs. As for me, I am keen on all kinds of ball games, especially football and basketball. From these games, I have gained a lot, and enjoined great pleasure. To conclude, physical exercise is beneficial to every college students, and therefore do not hesitate to attend sports activities.大学英语四级范文背诵(02) Online gamesAs a product of modern computer and the Internet, online games have become very popular among college students. Many students have enjoyed great pleasure and satisfaction from these games. But as we see, some students lacking self discipline on too much indulge in these games. So that their health and academic performances are affected. This phenomenon has caused much worry from the teachers and parents. However, some others argue that online games are not always harmful. They can train their ability of youngsters to respond to things quickly. Moreover, they can stimulate their imagination and their interest in computer science. More importantly, it does bring college students much pleasure and release their pressure greatly.Form my point of view, online games are wonderful entertainment if you play them in a clever way. When they interfere too much with your study, it is better for you to give them up at once, but if you have enough self control over them, you can certainly obtain real pleasure and benefit a lot from them.大学英语四级范文背诵(03) Certificates Craze on CampusIn recent years, to get a certificate has become a new craze among college students. Just randomly, ask a student on campus what he or she is busy doing, quite possibly, you may get the answer that he or she is preparing for a certificate of some kind. Why does this craze appear? There are two mainly reasons behind this phenomenon. First, it is the employments pressure that forces college students to get more certificates. With the admission expansion ofcolleges, a large more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the job markets. How can one make himself more competitive, more certificates at hands maybe. Second, the diplomas and certificates are still important standard by which many employers measure a person’s ability in order to increase qualification for a job, the students compel themselves to run from one exam to another.Form my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since certificates do not necessarily prove one’s ability, being crazy in getting certificates blindly. It is nothing but wasting time. To conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but not getting a certificate of no practical value.大学英语四级范文背诵(04) How to deal with peer pressure?College students are often obsessed by peer pressure from their classmates or schoolmates. Facing others’ hard work and good performance in academic and other aspects, many students feel great pressure. Then, how to deal with this kind of peer pressure? The following measures can be taken.First, you should take a careful look at your present level and set a practical object. Y ou needn’t always compare yourselves with those on the top and just make your efforts towards your object.Second, under peer pressure, you shouldn’t feel discouraged and pressed. Instead, you should make it your motivation for harder work. Finally, if you find pressure is nearly beyond your c ontrol, you’d better turn to professional psychological guidance. As a college student, I have no way to avoid peer pressure, so I try to figure out the way to do with it well.I set my own goal, including my practical level and my position among the pee rs. Because of my focus on my own goal, I have no time and energy to think about the pressure. So I’m little troubled by it.To conclude, we should not escape from peer pressure, but learn to make best use of it, since it can hardly be avoided.大学英语四级范文背诵(05) Should college students be tutors?Nowadays there are more and more provided tutors among college students. Some students even take a few tutor jobs at the same time. People have different opinions about this phenomenon. Some people believe college students can benefit a lot from being tutors. On the one hand they can earn some money and lessen the burden on their family. On the other hand they can have chances to apply their knowledge to the solution to the practical problems. However still others object to college students being a tutor. They think that a student should focus on his study instead of doing a part-time job. If they spend too much time on teaching, they will not have enough time to study, and naturally their academic performance will be affected. In the two arguments, I’m in favor of the former one. In my opinion, to be a tutor is a good practical activity for us college students, from which we can gain practical experience and skills. But it is worth notingthat we cannot spend too much time in being tutors. We should balance the relationship between the tutor job and study.大学英语四级范文背诵(06) W elcome to the camera clubWelcome to the camera club. Many college students spend money like water and have no concept of thrift in their mind. They take it for granted that they spend money from their parents before they enter into society. This extravagant spending is mainly causd by the following factors: First of all, nowadays, most students are the only children of their families. They are the apple in their family's eyes and naturally get more care and pocket money. Secondly, with the improvement of living standards, parents can afford higher expenditures of their children. Thirdly, some students like to pursue fashion and trends, which tends to need more money. Finally, campus love is also a possible factor causing extravagant spending.Form my point of view, a college student as a pure consumer should learn to be thrifty we should limit our expenditure on barely necessities but not buy whatever we want, regardles s of their prices. The habit of thrift can help us form right values and is favorable to our future development.大学英语四级范文背诵(08) A quarrel in the dormitoryWeeks ago I witnessed the quarrel between my two roommates. It shocked me the two good friends fired out just for a very trifling matter. It was in the morning at weekend when I was washing my face in the bathroom. Suddenly I heard Ann and Sue shouting at each other. I hurried to come out to see what happened. It turned out that the noise of Sue’s clos ing the door waked Ann, whose bed is just beside the door. Ann thought Sue deliberately closed the door heavily. Sue didn’t have made her fault and said Ann was making trouble out of nothing. So their argument became ambits of quarrel. Though later they stopped quarreling under ourpersuasion, neither of them would like apologize to the other.Such a quarrel leaves me to think a lot about dormitory harmony. If either Ann or Sue can be a little tolerant or take a better way to express herself, this quarrel, I think, can be avoided easily. It is no doubt that a harmony dormitory life benefits all the members. But it needs our common efforts to build it.大学英语四级范文背诵(09) Students’ Pursuit for Famous BrandsNowadays many college students like to pursue famous brands. From clothes to mobile phones, even study articles like electronic dictionaries and pens, they are inclined to buy famous brands. Moreover, many students from poor families begin to follow this consumption trend as well. This phenomenon has aroused wide attention. The following reasons can account for college students’ preference for famous brands. Above all, in many college students’ eyes, a famous brand is a symbol of sophistication and taste. They expect others to admire their high class and g ood taste. What’s more, in modern society, famous brands to some extent are equal to fashion, which has a great attraction to young college students. Besides, parents’ spoiling their children helps form their bad consumption habit. As far as I am concerned, it is irrational for college students to pursue famous brands. After all, most of famous brands are far beyond their consumption ability. Besides, it is not famous brands but a person’s noble character that really makes him high class. Therefore, college students should attach more importance to cultivating a good character rather than pursuing famous brands.大学英语四级范文背诵(10) How should college students relieve pressure?Today’s college students face many pressures, mainly from parents’ expectation, st udy, economy, employment and all kinds of competition. Although pressure, to some extent, can provide motivation, overdue pressure has a serious negative affect. Pressure can destroy a student’s confidence. More seriously it might make some students lose control of their emotions and behaviors.Considering the great damage of overdue pressure, college students should learn how to relieve pressure. First, we should have a right evaluation of ourselves, so it’s to make use of advantages and avoid disadvanta ges. Second, we should set a clear aim of struggle. The aim can give us motivation and make us become active. Third, attending collective activities is an effective way to relieve pressure. Finally, if you find pressure is nearly beyond your control, you’d better turn to professional psychological guidance. As to me, my pressure is mainly from future employment. In order to reduce upset, I ask my parents to help me analyze my advantages and disadvantages and produce more practical job objection. So my employment pressure has been relieved greatly. Now I become very confident in my future, and I do believe I can get an ideal job after my graduation.。

Yours sincerely,Li Ming六、考试Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic My Views on Examinations. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1、大学都用考试来衡量学生的成绩2、考生可能带来的副作用3、我对考试的看法In most colleges and universities the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject. Although it does the job quite efficiently, its side effects are also enormous. To begin with, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. No subjects can be taught successfully merely through being approached with intent to take examinations. In addition, the most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. As the examination score is theonly criterion for his academic performance, a student is driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively. In fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students' academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?七、最难忘的人Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic The most unforgettable Person I ever Know. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1、我生活中最难忘的人是··2、为什么他(或她)令我难以忘怀3、结论In my life I have met many people who are really worth recalling. But perhaps the most unforgettable person I ever know is my English teacher. What frequently brings back memories of my school teacher is his special qualities. First of all, he gave us the greatest gift a teacher can offer—an awakening of a passion for learning. He not only led us to an appreciation of the beautyand perfection of English language and literature, but also aroused our great interest in explorating something deeper in this field. Second, I was attracted by his lively wit. I remember that we students always anticipated his class with great eagerness because his lecture were humorously delivered, never failing to provoke chuckles or loud laughs.Although it is nearly two years since I attended his last class, he is the talk of our old classmates, and I know part of him has already stayed in my heart.八、图表作文Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Statistics in People's Daily Expenses in Xi'an. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1、Describe the changes indicated in the table.2、The reasons for the change.3、Make predictions about the future tendency. What is shown in the table above indicates that dramatic changes have taken place in the daily expenses inXi'an from 1995 to 1999. The expenses on food have declined by 30% while those on clothing and recreation have increased respectively by 9% and 7%.There are two factors accounting for these changes. In the first place, the risen income resulting from economic growth plays a vital role in the less expense on food. In the second place, when food presents no worry to the average, people begin to focus more of their interest on handsome appearance and happy leisure time. As a result of such a shift, spending on clothing and recreation increases year by year. From the analyses made above, with the further growth in economy and more changes in life style, the tendency indicated in the table will continue in the better direction.九、压力Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Is Stress a Bad Thing? You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1、有人害怕压力2、有人认为压力并不是坏事3、我的看法In the past few years, quite a number of men and women have chosen to do something less competitive. They are afraid that the stress and strains of work will rob them of joyand happiness and do them harm both physically and mentally. In fact, however, stress isn't the bad thing it is often supposed to be. Above all, unless it gets out of control, a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and challenge, and to give purpose and significance to an otherwise meaningless, idle life. Furthermore, people under stress tend to express their full range of potential and to actualize their own personal worth—the very aim of a human life.Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. What we can do is to develop our adaptive abilities to deal with it rather than to escape from it.十、就业Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Jobs for Graduates. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1、大学生难找工作2、原因很多3、解决的办法Job hunting has always been a headache for college students. Though many graduates are employed right aftergraduation, some are not. Most serious of all, some still have no idea where to go working even a long time after graduation. The reasons for this phenomenon are various. On the one hand, a few years ago colleges and universities enrolled so many students in popular majors, such as economy, finance and so on that the number of graduates was greater than the need in the market. On the other hand, most graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable job to do than go to the country.I reckon this problem can be solved if both colleges and students take measures. First, they should research the market and develop special skills to suit its need. Second, students' attitude towards employment should be changed. They should go to small cities and country. There they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. In a word, if we pay much attention, the situation can be improved.【备注说明,非正文,实际使用可删除如下部分。

Everyone has his own view. Some people think we should read selectively. They argue that with the development of modern science and technology, more and more books are being published every day. It is impossible for us to read all the books. What's more, there are many bad books that are poisonous to our mind, and we shouldn't read them. Since we can't read all the books, and we shouldn't read bad books, we must read selectively. But others may not agree. They emphasize that today's society is not what is used to be. If you want to be successful, you must read widely and acquire knowledge in both natural sciences and humanities, if a man knows much in one field but little in others, he may not be of great use to the society. Since we must have a wide range of knowledge, we must read extensively.Who's right? There is a lot to be said for both sides of the argument. I am looking forward to your visit and to the opportunity to catch up. Welcome to my home in Nanjing! As you know, Nanjing has many places of interest to see, to discover, and to enjoy. Among its historical sites are stone city wall, the Confucius Temple with its magnificent night view, and Dr. Sun Yetsen's Mausoleum. With all its universities, Nanjing is a cultural center, offering an abundance of artistic and musical performances. It's also a city of beautiful gardens and parks, such as the Xuanwu Lake Park. With all these features, we will have a fun-filled week, especially that in early-October, there are many sunny and mild days for outdoor activities. So, I would suggest visiting these places first, and deciding on the others as our week develops. Finally, since at this time of the year the weather gets a little chilly in the evening, I would suggest that you bring some warm clothing with you. Also, as there will be crowds of people at the stations and on the trains, you need to be very careful with your belongings!Best wishes for a pleasant journey!Yours,Zhang Ying13. How to Succeed in a Job Interview1.面试在求职过程中的作用2.取得面试成功的因素:仪表、举止谈吐、能力、专业知识、自信、实事求是……Nowadays, in an ever tighter job market, great importance has been attached to an interview by both the employer and the applicant. The interview, so to speak, has become indispensable for getting a satisfactory job. On the one hand, the interviewer can take advantage of the occasion to learn about the candidates, such as their work experiences, education and their personalities, so as to pick out the right candidates for the company. One the other hand, the interviewee can make use of the opportunity to get to know the job he is going to take up, the credibility of the firm to which he has applied, and the working conditions as well.Essential as it is, the job interview is far from fearful. Well begun, half done. Excellent performance in it will enable the would-be employee secure the job. But how can one succeed in it?First of all, the interviewee has to pay attention to his or her appearance. Though we can never judge a person by his appearance, the first impression is always where we start. Secondly, good manners are equally important. The interviewee has to be neither too proud nor too timid. Just be courteous. Thirdly, the interviewee must demonstrate his aptitude and skills for the job and knowledge about the job-related areas; he must express himself clearly and confidently. Last but not the least, the interviewee ought to be honest about his or her personal as well as academic background, for honesty is the best policy. To sum up, the job interview is indeed important. There is no need to be nervous, however, if the interviewee has made full preparations for it and given a fairly confident and honest performance, his or her success can be ensured.14. You should write according to the outline given below. Please remember to write it clearly on the ANSWER SHEET.Some college graduates choose to work as village officials.1、Do you think it is a good idea?2、What can they offer the countryside?3、What can they gain from their village positions?范文College Graduates Work as Village OfficialsThere is no denying the fact that it is a hotly debated topic today how college graduates should choose their careers. Some time ago, it was reported that some college graduates chose to work as village officials. To this peoples attitudes differ sharply. Some hold the positive view while others are against it. As far as I am concerned, I believe that it is a wise choice. On the one hand, college graduates can contribute a lot to the development of the countryside. First, they can apply their professional knowledge there. Secondly, they can introduce new concepts to the countryside and speed the development of ruralculture. As a result, the gap between the city and the countryside can well be bridged. On the other hand, these graduates can benefit a lot from working as village officials. While too many college graduates are fighting for the handful of positions in big cities, these graduates can find themselves a wider stage of development and realize their value. Therefore, college graduates working as village officials is a win-win choice and more graduates should be encouraged to work in the countryside.。

As the examination score is the only criterion for his academic performance, a student is driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively. In fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students’ academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?七、最难忘的人Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic The most unforgettable Person I ever Know. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1、我生活中最难忘的人是······2、为什么他(或她)令我难以忘怀3、结论In my life I have met many people who are really worth recalling. But perhaps the most unforgettable person I ever know is my English teacher. What frequently brings back memories of my school teacher is his special qualities. First of all, he gave us the greatest gift a teacher can offer—an awakening of a passion for learning. He not only led us to an appreciation of the beauty and perfection of English language and literature, but alsoaroused our great interest in explorating something deeper in this field. Second, I was attracted by his lively wit. I remember that we students always anticipated his class with great eagerness because his lecture were humorously delivered, never failing to provoke chuckles or loud laughs.Although it is nearly two years since I attended his last class, he is the talk of our old classmates, and I know part of him has already stayed in my heart.八、图表作文Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Statistics in People’s Daily Expenses in Xi’an. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1、 Describe the changes indicated in the table.2、 The reasons for the change.3、 Make predictions about the future tendency.(图表死活贴不上去,只能贴文章了,^_^)What is shown in the table above indicates that dramatic changes have taken place in the daily expenses in Xi’an from 1995 to 1999. They are afraid that the stress and strains of work will rob them of joy and happiness and do them harm both physically and mentally. In fact, however, stress isn’t the bad thing it is often supposed to be. Above all, unless itgets out of control, a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and challenge, and to give purpose and significance to an otherwise meaningless, idle life. Though many graduates are employed right after graduation, some are not. First, they shouldresearch the market and develop special skills to suit its need. Second, students’ attitude towards employment should be changed. They should go to small cities and country. There they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. In a word, if we pay much attention, the situation can be improved.Should free music download be bannedWith the development of technology, more and more people are making use of the internet and are enjoying downloading all types of materials. Some are especially fond of downloading free music .they argue that free music downloads not only enrich our life , but also are good for the music industry because they help increase the popularity of music. However , from my point of view, it is not advisable to allow free music downloads. For one thing , they violate the intellectual property rights of musicians . for anther , they have a negative impact on the products such as CDs , which may do harm to the whole music industry . without good returns , who would like to invest in the music industry ?In order that the music industry can develop healthily, we had better ban free music downloads. Let’s all start to do so with ourselves .On TV showsNowadays , TV shows are very popular . TV programs like super girls and dreams in china have attracted thousands of people to participate , and many more wait to watch them when they are on show .Why are so many people interested in such programs ? Advocates say , that thee programs provide excellent opportunities for young people to express themselves and to show their specialty . they help improve their self-confidence and can add to their courage to face all kinds of challenges .However , some people criticize these problems , arguing that they are not only a west of energy , money and time , but also revelation of social vanity .In my opinion , we need not be too critical about such tv programs . if they can bring happiness to those who participate in them as well as to the audience , they justifiably entitled to prosper. On Students Dealing in StocksWhen many people make a fortune in the stock market, a great number of university students follow their steps and get involved in dealing in stocks too. They deal in stocks in their free time, trying to earn some money and gain some experience in managing properties. Most people accept this understandingly. They say dealing in stocks provides students an opportunity to combine what they've learned in school with practice. However, there're also people who take a negative view on this. They argue that dealing in stocks will not only take much of the students' energy and time ,but it will also make huge economic risks. When huge losses occur, they may lead to disastrous results. As for me, I think university students must be discouraged to deal in stocks since campus life is not yet ready for the turbulent stock market.Should English Classes Be Compulsory For Students? Most universities in China have made English a compulsory course which has aroused many complaints among students. Many students wish that English could be removed from the list of compulsory courses. However, I think it is of great significance for all university students to study English. To begin with, as an international language, English is widely used. Today, university students must master the language if they are to communicate with foreigners and to participate in the fierce international competition in the future. In addition, studying English as a foreign language dos not only provides students with the useful tool for communication but also open the door to cultures different from our own. As is universally acknowledged, mutual understanding among different cultures is vital for keeping the world safe and peaceful. Therefore, I strongly recommend that all students should take advantage of the compulsory course and try to study English well.Fast FoodFast food has been increasingly popular in our life. For one thing, more fast food restaurants both Chinese and western style appear in the street. For another, more customers welcome fast food. Several years ago, only the young went to McDonald's. But now people of all ages rush to fast food restaurants. The popularity of fast food apparently relates to the fast pace of modern life. Office workers have to turn to fast food because of their short lunch time. Some families, with both husband and wife working full time, cannot afford the time to cook. So they choose it, too. However, evidence shows that fast food lacks nutrition. And if we eat only fast food it is surely bad for health. Therefore, I think, for convenience's sake, we need fast food. But if we want to keep good health, we should try our best to cook for ourselves. On Students Quitting SchoolMany college students have quit school recent years. They do it for different reasons. Some students quit school because of their poor health. A serious disease or a traffic accident may have made it impossible for them to continue their schooling. Other students may be forced to do it because their family couldn't afford the tuition. However, there are some students who quit school out of their own choice. Some are brace a good job offer and leave school. Others may find that they cannot afford to lose the good opportunity to start their own business. So they quit school to start their career just like Bill Gates.Whatever the reason, I think college students should think twice before deciding to quit school. After all, graduates are normally better prepared for their future than those who quit school. College education pays off in the long run.Should Students Follow Fashions?Young university students are sensitive to fashions. Some are keen on following fashions. They use mobile phones of the latest style. They wear stylish clothes. They enjoy popular music. Some people are not happy with this phenomenon. They argue the university students should focus on their studies rather than on fashions. They say fashions cost so much that university students cannot afford them. Some students follow fashions crazily for fear of losing face. Fashions have caused much trouble on campus. However, others may hold different opinions. They say fashions can drive students to work harder for a better life and broaden their horizons, which is essential for their future development.I understand those students who follow fashions. But they must be responsible and not go to extremes. If their family is poor, there is no need for them to have such luxurious hobbies.A Letter to the University PresidentDear Mr. President:I'm a sophomore major in law. I'm writing to make suggestions on improving the education equality of our university. First, I think there is still much room for an improvement concerning our classroom education. Some teachers just recite textbooks, and their course are boring. It's not very helpful for us. We need more interaction and communication in the classes and we welcome lively and practical courses. Second, we students need help to develop our indicative in our studying.I hope our university can invite some famous people to deliver lectures to us on how to study . Finally, in order to get all students involved our studies, I suggest some contests behalf of university. For example, the department of law can have a legal knowledge contestsThank you for reading my letter. I hope my suggestions will be serious to look into.your sincerely,LimingGrades and AbilityDo high grades imply excellent ability? Opinions vary from person to person. Some agree that high grades reflect high intelligence and are thus indicative of one’s ability. Students who do well in exams are therefore always favored in class. Others hold that grades have little to do with one’s ability. They point out that some students who do not well enough in school may also make great achievements. They take Edison for example, saying that Edison was considered not clever by his primary school teacher but became a very famous inventor later. In my view, grades are important for us students. When people have no other ways to assess ability, they can decide whether we are qualified for school place or position only from our grades. Therefore, we must try to achieve high grades in school, even though they are not the only standard for our abilities.Annual Expenses for Studying EnglishThe chart show that college students have change much in their ways of studying in English and their totally expenses for have also increased greatly. In2000, they borrowed either reference books or tapes ,but in 2008 they can choose their reference books, tapes, CDs, or DVDs, Mp3s on the internet. Consequently, their annual expenses for studying English have reason from 150 Yuan to 230 Yuan per person a fifty percent increase. Many factors contribute to such changes. Firstly, as an international language, English is not only useful when we travel abroad or communicate with foreigners, but also has become a must if we apply for a job in some large companies. Secondly, the income of most family has increased considerably. so college student can spend more on the English study. Last but not least, with the advancement of new technology, more efficient English study facilities become available for students。
