Lesson 1 Where is it?
Teaching Aims:
1.Review the structures:
What’s this?
It’s a (nut).
2.Learn the structures:

2.Have the students understand this story.
3.Enable the students act this story in the scene, and have them get interesting in the study.

Teaching steps:
Step 1 Greeting
Step 2 Set the scene and Model the dialog
1.Show a nut for playing a game “Guess”.
T: Where is my nut?
(请个别学生上台将坚果藏在左/右手,然后用句型提问,请其他同学猜猜。


2.Say animals “rabbit”, “monkey”, and so on.
3.Have the students guess “Where is my squirrel?”for elicit the word “in” and “on”. Put them on the blackboard.
4.Show a picture, “where is the bird?” for elicit the word “behind”.
5.Repeat the procedure for the other words “in front of” and “under”.
6.Show the wall picture. Have the students find their places and answer. T: Where is the frog ?

7.Have the students listen to the commands and do the action.
Step 3 Talk about the story
Have the students open their books at page 38 and 39. Point to the title “Where is it?”Read the words aloud to the students. Then ask some questions about the each picture.
Step 4 Story
1.Play the tape without stopping. Have the students look at the pictures as they listen.
2.Play the tape again, pausing after each new picture. Have the students repeat the words each time.
3.Have students act the story in their groups.
4.Call some groups come to act it.
Step 5 Set homework
Encourage the students to tell the story to their families.

Teaching Aims:
1.Review the structures:
Where is (Ann)?

2.Learn the vocabulary:
on, under, in, behind, in front of, next to;
a bed, a sofa, a chair, a desk, and floor.
3.Have the students get interesting in the study.

Enable students use the words for making some sentences.
Teaching Aids: vocabulary cards, sentences cards, and tape.
Teaching steps:
Step 1 Review
1.Have the students open to the story pages of this Unit.
2.Play the tape. Have the students repeat after the tape.
Step 2 Words to learn
1.Have the students open their books at page 40. As the teacher play the tape, have them touch the matching words.
2.Play the tape again. This time, stop the tape after each word and have
the students repeat it.
3.Play the tape again without stopping. Have the students say the words along with tape.
4.Without the tape, pointing to the words and elicit the words from the students.
5.Divide the students into five groups, having a competition “Say it out quickly!”

Step 3 Listen to this
1.Direct the students’ attention to the pictures at the bottom of the page. Point the first one and ask, “Where is the hat?” Try to elicit, “The hat is on the table.”
2.Repeat the procedure for the other pictures.
3.Play the tape, stopping after each sentence. Have the students point to the correct answer each time.
4.Play the tape again. This time, have the students write the numbers.
5.Review the sentences in a class drill.
Step 4 Let’s sing!
1.Play the tape. Have the children touch the words in their books as they listen.
2.Play the tape again. This time stopping after each line. Have the students practice chanting each line after they hear it on the tape.
3.Now play the song without stopping, and have the students sing along. Step 5 Set homework
Ask the students to sing the song to their parents.

1.Show the wall picture. Have the students turn to page 4

4.Divide the class into two groups. One group is Ken and the other group is Ann. Have them repeat the dialog.

6.Put the students into pairs to practice the dialog. Encourage them to substitute different things and different places for acting.
Step 3 Listen and number
1.Have the students open their books at page 4
2. Point to each picture and have the students tell you what they can see.
2.Play the tape. Have the students point to the matching rabbit.
3.Play the tape again, stopping after each sentence. Have the students write the correct sentence number into the matching rabbit.
4.Check the answers in a class drill.
Step 4 Where are they?
1.Have the students look at page 43.
2.Draw their attention to the text. Tell them that Mocky and his friends are playing in a park. Have the students read silently by themselves.
3.Read the text slowly to the students. Make sure they understand each
sentences.
4.Read the story again. Have the students point to the people and write their names correctly.
Step 5 Set homework
Ask the students tell their parents about the story.

Enable the students use the sound to pronounce words with it. Teaching Aids: cards, tape.

1.Have the students open their books at page 44 and look at the top of the page.
2.Play the tape and have the students say the words aloud.
3.Find the pronunciation [a:].
4.Draw the students’ attention to the bottom of the page.
5.Try to pronounce the words by themselves in their groups.
6.Check the students’ pronunciation is correct.
7.Have the students repeat the sounds after the tape.
Step 3 Listen for sounds
1.Direct the students’ attention to the middle of the page.
2.Play the first four words on the tape. Have the students point to each picture illustrating a word with an [æ] sound as they hear the word.
3.Play the tape again. This time have the students cross the word that doesn’t have the [a:] sound.
Step 4 Model the structures
1.Hide a book in the desk and ask, “Where is the book?” Write it on the board and read aloud. Have the students repeat it.
2.Elicit, “It is in the desk.” Write it on the board. Read the sentence aloud, pointing to each word as I do so. Have the students read the sentence. 5.Repeat the procedure used to “Where are the (books)?
They are (on) the (desk).”.
Step 5 Uncle Booky’s blackboard
1.Have the students open their books at page 45. Model the structures on Uncle Booky’s Blackboard by reading them aloud to the class.
2.Have the students repeat the structures in a class drill. Use all possible combinations.
Step 6 Touch ,ask and answer
1.Drow the students’ attention to the pictures at the bottom of the page.
2.Point to the sentences and see if the students can read them out. Then read aloud and have the students repeat.
3.Put the students into pairs to act the dialog.
4.Ask some partners to act the dialog to the whole class.

2.Encourage the students to read the chant by themselves. Ask them to talk about what the chant is about.
3.Play the tape straight through. Have the students listen.
4.Play the first section of the chant, stopping after each sentence. Have the students repeat after the tape.
5.Repeat with the other parts of the chant.
6.Now play the tape without stopping this time. Have the student say chant in a class drill following the tape.
Step 4 Let’s find out
1.Direct the students’ attention to the bottom of page 47.
2.Point to the sentences in the speech bubbles and have the students read. Then model the sentences and have them repeat.
3.Have the students model the dialog to ask their parters and find out something from their partners.
4.At the end of the activity, call up individual student to report his/her finding.
Step 5 Set homework
Tell the students to say the new chant to their parents and color the picture on page 46 as homework.

Teaching Aims:
1.Review the structures about this Unit.
2.Try to read the story.

Enable students use all knowledge that they had learned in lives. Teaching Aids: wall picture, cards, tape.
Teaching steps:
Step 1 Uncle Booky’s storytime
1.Have the students open their books at page 48. Tell them that they are going to read a story.
2.Have the students read the story by themselves. The teacher walk around the classroom for providing helps when necessary.
3.Point to each picture and have the students say what is happening in each picture.
4.Play the tape straight through. Have the students touch the pictures when they are mentioned in the tape.
5.Play the tape again. This time stop at each picture. Have the students repeat with the tape.
6.Ecourage the students read the English story more and more.

See Unit 2 for the rules and procedure.
Step 3 I spy
The game review the beginning sounds of some of the core words from Unit 1 through 4.
Step 4 Self-assessment
1.Have the students model the sentence “It is (on) the (bed).” to write out the sentences on the lines below the pictures by themselves.
2.Tell the students to look at the dialog listed in the second activity. Elicit the students complete the dialog.
Step 5 Reflection
1.Draw the students’ attention to the Reflection Card at the bottom of the page. Tell them to think about their own learning and go over all the items individually.
2.Ask and answer in pairs one by one.
