Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel nestled in the Andes Mountains. It was built in the 1400s and abandoned just over 100 years later, likely due to the Spanish conquest of Peru. The ruins were rediscovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, an American archaeologist.

What makes Machu Picchu so fascinating to me is not

just its age and history, but also its location and construction. The citadel was built on a mountain ridge and is surrounded by steep cliffs, making it both difficult to access and well-protected. The Incas used advanced

engineering techniques to construct the site, including terracing the mountain slopes and building intricate water systems.

Exploring Machu Picchu is like stepping back in time. Walking through the ruins, I can almost imagine what life was like for the Inca people who built and lived there.

It's a humbling experience to be in the presence of something so ancient and impressive.
