Title: English Newspaper Reading Teaching Design
Objective:
- To familiarize students with different genres and writing styles present in newspapers.
- To help students develop critical thinking and analytical skills through newspaper reading.
Materials:
- English newspapers (both local and international)
- Classroom projector
- Handouts of newspaper articles (optional)
Introduction:
1. Begin the lesson by discussing the importance of reading newspapers in improving English language skills.
2. Explain to students that newspapers provide a wide range of articles, including news, opinions, editorials, and feature stories.
3. Introduce different sections of newspapers, such as politics, sports, entertainment, science, current affairs, and lifestyle, and explain their contents and purposes.
4. Inform students that they will be engaged in various activities related to newspaper reading to enhance their language skills.
Activity 1: Vocabulary Building
1. Select a newspaper article and identify five to ten challenging words.
2. Distribute copies of the chosen article to students or project it onto the classroom screen.
3. Ask students to read the article silently and underline any unfamiliar words.
4. Discuss and explain the meanings of the selected words as
a class.
5. Write down the new vocabulary words on the whiteboard or provide handouts with definitions for further reference.

2. Emphasize the benefits of reading newspapers for English language improvement, increasing general knowledge, and staying informed about current events.

Extended Activity:
Outside the classroom, assign students to read an English newspaper article of their choice from an online source, focusing on a topic of personal interest. Ask them to summarize and present it to the class, highlighting key information and their thoughts or opinions about the article.。
