Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has won her battle to prevent the further publication (出版) of a photograph of her son.
Anthony Clarke, one of the judges hearing the case(案件), said the child of a famous parent should have the same rights as that of “ordinary”parents. “Parents who are not in the public eye can surely expect not to have photographs of their child published in the media(媒体), and so should a famous parent,” he said in the judgment.
The photographs were taken on November 8,2020 in Edinburgh while David, then aged under two, was being pushed in a buggy(婴儿车) by his parents.
They were published in a Sunday Express magazine, causing Rowling, 42, and her husband to sue(控告) Sunday Express and the photo agency Big Pictures and try to block further publication.
Keith Schilling of Schilling’s Law Firm says, “This case makes a law

Big Pictures will have to pay the costs of the case, expected to be hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Why is setting goals important? Because goals can help you do and experience everything you want in life. Instead of just letting life happen to you, goals allow yourself to make your life happen.
Successful and happy people have a vision(洞察力) of how their life should be and they set lots of goals to help them reach their vision. By
setting goals you are taking control of your life. It’s like having a map to show you where you want to go. Think of it this way. There are two drivers. One has a destination in mind (her goal) which is laid out for her in a map. She can drive there without any waste time or wrong turns. The other driver has no goal or destination or map. She starts off at the same time from the same place as the first driver, but she drives aimlessly around, never getting anywhere, just using up gas and oil. Which driver do you want to be?
Winners in life set goals and follow through on them. Winners decide what they want in life and then get there by making plans and setting goals. Unsuccessful people just let life happen by accident. Goals aren’t difficult to set, and they aren’t difficult to reach. It’s up to you to find out what your goals, ideas and vision really are. You are the one who must decide what to pursue(追寻) and in what direction to aim your life.
55. The example of the two drivers was given to show ___________.
A. the importance of having a map and right direction
B. the foolishness of the second driver
C. the importance of setting goals
D. the foolishness of the first driver
56. According to this passage, the most important thing in realizing one’s ideal(理想) is to
_________.
A. have a clear understanding of what he or she wants in life

D. sign a contract with other people
58. What is the main idea of this passage?

B. Whenever you set goals, you will succeed.
C. Winners never stop their efforts for success.
D. Success is possible only when a person has clearly set his or her goal.

A few years ago, I worked with a man whose wife was known as a very good cook. I asked her once what recipes(食谱) she used most for meal-planning. She said that she hardly cooks from a recipe because she finds she usually spends more money that way. Her answer surprised me at the time, but I understand now what she meant. When I start with a recipe, I often end up buying expensive, out-of-season or processed foods like canned soup. When I start by shopping in the fridge, and the pantry(食品室), I do a better job of using things on hand and spend less at the store. Besides the money savings, there are other advantages to cooking without formal recipes, such as: •Dishes are often healthier. A vegetable prepared in a simple way like steaming usually has fewer calories and salt than the same vegetable in a pot or fancy sauce.
•I am more likely to eat produce in season when it's the cheapest and best-tasting. If I choose a recipe in December that calls for fresh beans,
I end up paying several dollars a pound more than the August price (and I’m disappointed in the quality).
•I have opportunities to get creative, and have even “invented” some dishes that become favorites.
I do have a huge collection of cookbooks and recipe files, and a list of recipe websites. But more often than not, I go to these sources for ideas and then adapt recipes according to what I have on hand, or what is on sale that week. My “go to” resource is a small binder (活页夹) with notes on ways to use specific components(成分). It includes some basic and favorite recipes, but the majority of them are simply notes. One page has ideas for using cooked chicken that is left and another lists ways to use the last 1/2 cup of apple sauce.
59. The man’s wife seldom cooks from a recipe b ecause she ___________.
A. is a very good cook
B. wants to save money
C. enjoys her own ideas
D. likes processed foods
60. According to the passage, if one cooks without formal recipes, he will ___________.
A. eat seasonal vegetables with more money
B. have healthier food
C. be disappointed with produce in season
D. always invent new dishes
61. What are more likely to be found in the writer’s binder?
A. Ideas on how to use the remaining cream.
B. Ways to cook food known to few people.
C. Components seldom used by the writer.
D. Recipe websites frequently visited.
62. Which of the following serves as the best title for this passage?
A. Why I Don't Use Recipes
B. What Recipes Bring to Us
C. How I Cook Good Dishes
D. How I Cook from Recipes

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there...to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out whom you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound(深远的) way.
And sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles(障碍) you would never realize your potential(潜力), strength, will power or heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of luck. Illness, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity(愚蠢) all occur to test limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere safe and comfortable but dull and utterly(完全地) pointless.
If someone hurts you, betrays (背叛) you or breaks your heart, forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but also because they
are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things.
Make every day count. Appreciate everything that you possibly can, for you may never experience it again. You can create your own life and then go out and live it without absolutely no regrets

A. Find it easy to overcome the next one.

64.What is the main idea of the second paragraph?
A. One’s life is certain to have illness, injury, sheer stupidity or something like that.
B. Life will be safe and comfortable without the small tests.
C. Life can be much meaningful with the small tests.
D. People don’t like to have the small tests in life.
65. What does the underlined sentence “Make every day count.” mean?
A. Count how many days left every day.
B. Count every day in our life because it is important.
C. Make our life meaningful as long as we can.
D. Make our life colorful every day because lost days will never come back again.
66. Which of the following is true according to the passage?
A. Don’t be too affected by downfalls because we can still learn
something from the bad experience.
B. We should know every person clearly in our life in case they betray
us.
C. We should love all the people whatever they do with us.
D. We can’t change our life because things will occur according to its own way.

There are a lot of things that happen to me in China but would certainly never happen in the US. One of those things is being called “strong”.
The first time was last December. I was walking across the high school campus in Guangzhou where I taught when a student in a gray scarf waved hello.
I smiled and waved back, but then she stopped and called my name. “You’re so strong!” She smiled and pointed at what appeared to be my right arm.
I looked down at my arms. Let’s get one thing clear: I’m a very skinny guy. Once, while rehearsing(排练) for a high school talent show, I was told by the teacher in charge that I couldn’t participate in the men’s shirtless dance routine because my visible rib cage(胸腔)would frighten the audience.
“I’m so what?”“You’re so strong!” she repeated. “Um, thanks!”
I didn’t know what else to say, so we both waved goodbye.
The next morning I stepped into my oral English classroom only to be greeted instantly by a unanimous(异口同声的) “Waaa!”of shock and admiration. “What?”I asked. “You’re so strong!”shouted a boy from the back of the class.
“Okay, will someone tell me that means?” I was curious as to the real reason for such praise. So I turned to the monitor, gesturing for him to speak.
“We just mean, you look very strong today,” he offered earnestly.
“What?! You mean like this?”I curled(卷起) my arm like a body-builder.
“NO! But it’s so cold, and you’re only wearing a short-sleeved shirt.”
Oh, I got it. My “strength” had less to do with my muscle and more to do with my apparent ignorance of the cold weather.
