二、阅读单选
It seems food deliverymen (送货员) are always in a hurry. They wear blue, red or yellow helmets (头盔) and many of them don’t follow traffic rules. They drive on the wrong side of the road and run red lights. They use mobile phones while driving. These reckless (鲁莽的) behaviors have caught the public’s attention.
In the first half of 2017, food deliverymen had 76 traffic accidents in Shanghai, according to Shanghai Public Security Bureau. That means every two and a half days, a food deliveryman will
die or get hurt on the road.
What makes deliverymen take such risks? The strict rules of the food delivery service companies
and the anxious (焦急的) customers may be the answer.
Many companies will fine a deliveryman up to 2,000 yuan, if he fails to deliver an order on time,
reported China Daily. Fines also go to those who get bad reviews from customers.
To solve the problem, food delivery service companies need to improve their incentive systems
(激励制度), noted CRI Online.
Some cities are also taking action. Shanghai has asked companies to train their deliverymen on
traffic rules and safety. Now in Shenzhen, if a deliveryman gets caught breaking traffic rules more than twice, then he will be banned from driving food service delivery vehicles (交通工具) for a
whole year .

A.work very hard B.are good at driving

13.If a food deliveryman________, the companies will fine him.
A.drives too slowly B.delivers food on time
C.obeys traffic rules D.gets bad reviews

A.It’s a pity that all food deliverymen don’t follow traffic rules.
B.If a deliveryman can’t deliver an order on time, he will be fined up to 200 yuan.
C.It matters a lot to a deliveryman if he gets bad reviews from customers.
D.The deliveryman isn’t allowed to send food for a whole year if he breaks traffic rules more than twice.
15.What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
A.Companies are improving their review systems.
B.Some cities are working to improve the situation.
C.To drive safely, food deliverymen will obey more traffic rules.
D.Food deliverymen cannot drive on important roads in the future.
Dear Dad,
Today I was at the shopping centre and I spent a lot of time reading the Father's Day cards. But as
I chose and read, it seemed that not a single card said what I really wanted to say to you.
You'll soon be 84 years old, Dad, and you and I will have had 56 Father's Days together. I didn't think that you were too old. But the sad thing happened last week. I watched as you turned at the
corner in your car. I didn't realize at once that it was you because the man who was driving looked so elderly.
Fifty years ago this spring, we planted carrots together in a garden in Charles City, Iowa. This week, we'll plant carrots together again, perhaps for the last time but I hope not. I don't understand why planting carrots with you is so important to me. Well, I don't quite know how to tell you this, dad. I don't like carrots…but I like planting them with you.
I guess what I am trying to say is exactly what every son and daughter wants to say to their dad today. Praising(赞扬) a father on Father's Day is not just about a dad who brings home money or shares a dinner. It's also about a dad who deeply loves children. He knows everything about his children and won't listen to anyone. It's about love that can't be expressed(表达) in words, and I wish that it would never end.
Love,
Jenny
16.Where did Jenny go today?
A.A garden. B.A shopping center. C.A cinema. D.A hospital.
17.How old is Jenny now?
A.84. B.56. C.50. D.34.
A.An old man. B.A car driver.
C.Jenny's father. D.Jenny's husband.
19.What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A.It's the last time for Jenny to plant carrots with her father.
B.Jenny and her father plant carrots together every year.
C.Both Jenny and her father like eating carrots.
D.Jenny would like to stay with her father.
20.What does Jenny talk about in the last paragraph?
A.Deep love for Dad. B.Best wishes for Dad.
C.The importance of Dad. D.The beginning of Father's Day.
Have you ever noticed the black and white bars on a book?Do you know what they are used for?
They are bar-codes(条形码)used in most products. If you go to a supermarket, you can see almost every product with a bar-code on it. Bar-codes have information about the product, such
as name and production date. It's an easy and convenient way to know about the products.
Just scanthe bar-code and everything is clear.
The first use of a bar-code in a supermarket checkout system was on a pack of American Wrigley Company chewing gum in 1974.Beyond supermarkets, bar-codes are needed everywhere:for renting cars, for luggage checks on a plane, for parcels(包裹) you send. Life would be rather difficult without bar-codes.Most of our things would get lost in the post.
Bar-codes change as well.Bar-codes in the past were 1-D(one-dimensional空间), but now there are 2-D bar-codes,such as QR code.Since 2009, QR has been used on Chinese train tickets. People can enter stadiums, cinemas and theaters by holding certain types of bar-codes.
With these small codes, life is getting much easier for us.
If you find these bar-code things boring, a bar-code building might be more up your street. In St Petersburg, Russia, there is a building designed like a bar-code.It looks strange, but it's actually a shopping mall. There are games too. Bar-code Monsters is a mobile phone game.
