My Wonderful Weekends
Weekends are the best! I love Saturdays and Sundays because I get to sleep in late and don't have to go to school. Instead, I get to do lots of fun activities and spend quality time with my family. My weekends are always full of excitement and adventure!
On Saturday mornings, I usually wake up around 9am. My mom lets me stay in my pajamas and we have a big breakfast together. Sometimes we make pancakes or waffles, which are my favorites. Other times we have eggs, bacon, and toast. My dad reads the newspaper comics to me while we eat. After breakfast, I'll play some video games or watch cartoons for a little while.
Around 11am, we start getting ready for our Saturday activities. If the weather is nice, we might go to the park and have a picnic lunch. I love running around on the playground and playing on the swings. Sometimes my dad brings his baseball gloves and we'll toss the ball around too. The park near our house has a big walking trail, so we'll take a family hike as well. I try to find interesting leaves, rocks, or animal footprints along the way.
If it's raining or too cold outside, we'll find indoor activities instead. We might go bowling and get pizza for lunch. I'm not very good at bowling yet, but I have a lot of fun trying. Other times we go to the movies to see whatever new kids movie is playing. We get a big tub of popcorn to share and I get to pick my favorite candy at the concession stand.
My parents also like to take me to museums or science centers on rainy Saturdays. I really enjoy seeing the dinosaur skeletons and learning about how they lived millions of years ago. The science museums have great hands-on exhibits where you can do experiments. Last time, I got to build my own robot hand! Sometimes we go to an art museum instead, and I'll get paper and pencils so I can try sketching some of the paintings and sculptures.
After a busy day out, we'll come home for a restful evening. For dinner, we'll either order pizza or make tacos at home. Tacos are another one of my favorite meals! I'm allowed to have a glass of juice or soda with my dinner on Saturdays. Then we'll watch a movie together as a family before I get ready for bed. I try to pick something silly and funny so we can all laugh a lot.
I sleep in again on Sunday mornings until 8 or 9am. My dad usually makes chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast those days.
Yum! After we clean up from breakfast, we'll go to church. I don't love sitting still for so long, but I do enjoy singing the songs and seeing my friends at Sunday school.
When we get home from church, my mom and I work on cleaning my room together while my dad does yard work outside. I'll vacuum my floor and make sure all my toys and books are organized nicely. Then we'll straighten up the rest of the house before taking a break for lunch. We'll have simple sandwiches or leftovers from Saturday's dinner.
Sunday afternoons are my favorite part of the weekend! That's when we have family time set aside to do something really special together. Many Sundays, we'll get in the car and take a scenic drive admiring nature. We'll roll down the windows so we can feel the fresh air and warm sunshine. We always blast fun music and sing at the top of our lungs too. My parents take turns letting me pick the music and I love classic rock songs.
Other weeks, we'll stay at home and have a movie marathon day. We'll make a giant bowl of popcorn and everybody gets to pick a movie that we'll watch together on the big TV. I'll build a pillowfort in the living room using couch cushions and blankets to really get cozy. Sometimes my parents will let me stay in my pajamas all day for movie days.
If the weather is really nice, my dad will fire up the grill and we'll have a backyard barbecue cookout. I'll run through the sprinkler getting soaked while my parents grill hamburgers and hot dogs. We'll make lemonade and popsicles for a refreshing treat. Before eating, we always have races across the backyard while my parents time us. Then we'll eat our meal outdoors at the patio table.
No matter what we do, Sunday nights are for winding down and getting ready for the new school week. We'll take baths, pack our lunches and school bags for Monday, and then read stories together before bedtime. I get really sad when the weekends are over because I love having so much quality time with my parents. But I know another fun weekend is right around the corner, so I'll count down the days to Saturday!
Weekends are my happy place. I'm so grateful to have parents who make sure I have an awesome time every Saturday and Sunday. Between all the activities, meals, and
memory-making, weekends are always jam-packed but in the very best way. I hope I can keep having amazing weekends like this forever!。
