Xxx, one of my classmates, is very close to me. He is my best friend. He is very optimistic and smiles all the time. He is taller than most of the students in our class. As a result, he is good at sports.
XXX and I live in the same dormitory. Tha t’s to say, we are not only classmates, we are roommates. So, we have more time to know about each other. XXX likes basketball, which is my favorite sports, too. So, we often play basketball together in the spare time. XXX is kind-hearted. He is ready to help others. He knows that I am not good in academic courses. He always introduces his learning methods to me which proves to be quite useful. Gradually I improve a lot in this aspect.
I learn a lot from XXX. He is a good company to be with. Because of him, I become more efficient and confident. I will cherish our friendship forever.
Sample Writing for task one, Unit 3: Man Does Not Live by Bread Alone Man’s existence relies on material things. We need them to get fed, clothed and sheltered. When we can’t meet these basic needs, we will feel frustrated and miserable.
However, our happiness does not merely lie in material things. Nowadays, the economy has improved our lives and met most of our material needs. Then, there comes the need of spiritual satisfaction which includes good health, close friends, a home built on love, etc. While material things may lose their attraction, spiritual satisfaction will bring us lasting happiness.
Therefore, to live a happy life, we should focus more on those things that meet our spiritual demands. After all, when our need

Why Do the Young Adults Kill Themselves?
Young adults are in the best time of their lives are should pursue their dreams and enjoy a happy life. Yet it was reported that suicide is the main cause of death among young adults in China. Why have so many young people ended their lives?
Three factors can explain the high rate: increasing stress, loneliness and a lack of medical support for depression. The most important one, I think, is stress. Take my own life as an example. From the first day I entered the university, I have been living under pressure. I used to worry that I could not quite fit into the campus life. I also feared that I might not catch up with my classmates in my studies. Now I am deeply concerned about whether I can find a desirable job after graduation. Many young people find they just feel helpless when they are suffering from sadness or frustration.
Suicide is a great tragedy, especially for the young. If we can find ways to relieve
them of their stress and offer them timely help, we may save many young lives.

Nowadays, it’s very common for us Chinese to go to MacDonald’s or KFC. We eat fried chicken, drink Coco-cola and talk about Hollywood’s movies. We read foreign novels, listen to Western music and watch NBA. We know Bill Gates, Mike Jacobs. We celebrate Christmas and other western festivals. We
can feel the influence of western culture almost everywhere in our life.
This influence may prepare us to meet the competition in the world. But we should not ignore the side effects. Our national culture may lose its ground if our attention is focused only upon Western culture. When we follow the trend of globalization we should maintain our own cultural identity, cherish our culture.

Competition is present day is fierce and cruel. It exists in different fields of work. Whatever we do, we may feel the pressure of competition.
However, competition exists side by side with cooperation. For example, while competing with other factories, producers and distributors of the same factory must cooperate and make coordinated efforts to satisfy the needs of the customers. Business rivals have to cooperate with one another when their common markets are threatened. Therefore, completion alone will not bring us success in what we are doing.
In the face of competition, we should keep acquiring skills and updating our knowledge so as to enhance our competitive ability. At the same time, we should learn to cooperate with others in an effective way.。
