I had an opportunity to go to Winnipeg,Canada as an exchange student, which is an unforgettable experience for me in my life.
As for things I experienced during my stay in Canada,I think nothing else could be unforgettable compared with the weather there, which was extremely horrible. As it was winter when I arrived there,it was so cold that I was afraid my ears and nose would be torn off by the cold wind.I looked out through the window, only to find the ground covered by nothing but thick white snow. The Canadians said that there would be snow even in May!
People I met there came from different parts of the world, such as the United States,Mexico,France,Denmark,Japan,Korea, etc.,which provided me with good opportunities to practice my spoken English and understand more about their countries and cultures through communicating with them.As time passed,I could express myself in English more and more freely.
Students there could discipline(严格要求)themselves well. They used to prepare well before class and they never hesitated to quiz teachers and take part in the discussion and find out the answers to the questions they raised.Besides, they would have fun and relax themselves after school.
During the examination periods,a rule would be set up in the dormitory—all the students are required to keep quiet from 3 p.m. to 10 a.m. of the next day.In my opinion,it would be impossible for my extremely active roommates, the noisy boys,to obey the strict rule when I first saw the notice on the door. However, the result turned out really surprising!
After I returned home,I found that I had become more independent than before.Besides,I widened my horizon(眼界)greatly.
Never will I forget the days in Canada.

Not everyone wants to take medications forever. In my research, people with diabetes(糖尿病) who eat a totally plantbased, lowfat diet will lose weight, reduce their cholesterol(胆固醇) and improve their blood sugar better than those on a portion (部分)control diet. You can use diet to change the condition, but if you return to your old habits,it will come right back.
—Neal D.Barnard,MD, President,Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
Diet and exercise have the biggest impact, and the best diet is high in fiber and low in what can be slowly changed into sugar. The American Diabetes Association recommends eating about 30 grams of fiber a day,but studies suggest that eating up to 50 grams provides significant benefits, because fiber lowers insulin (胰岛素) and cholesterol levels.
— Dwight McKee, MD,Aptos,California
Being overweight is a main cause of type 2 diabetes. Exercising is the key to changing the condition. As you change your diet, aim to burn 300 calories
a day through exercise. If you have to,work out twice a day if you can't do
it in one shot. And as you get fitter, gradually increase your exercise time.
— Joel Fuhrman, MD,Flemington,New Jersey
Diabetes is a disease, not a moral failing. Lifestyle changes can make it better, but that doesn't necessarily mean horrible lifestyle choices cause it.
If diet and exercise don't help,we try a drug that doesn't cause weight gain.
If that still doesn't work,we add more medications. Type 2 diabetes is generally
a progressive disease. Even if you do everything right, you may need to increase
your medicine over time.
— Robin Goland, MD, Columbia University Medical Center,New York

D.Diabetes will always last a short period of time.
70.Expert Robin Goland may probably think that .
A.improper lifestyles will cause diabetes
B.proper lifestyles may help treat diabetes

As a saying goes, “If you have a good friend, your joys are doubled and your sorrows are halved”. Friends are a helping hand, a comforting shoulder to lean on, a patient ear to listen to you and most importantly, a warm and loving hug to embrace(拥抱) you. Man is a social animal by nature. We all need friends, as they are there for us when we need support, just as we are there for them whenever they need us. Therefore, it is necessary for you to know how to make friends.
The first step is to open yourself up. If you want to make good friends, you should be able to share your thoughts and feelings with other people first. Only when you share something of yourself with others, can you begin making friends. When your friends open a conversation with you, they are usually expecting you to share information in return. That is to say, when you are in a conversation, yo u’d better express your own thoughts and feelings. If a conversation is one-sided, the person doing all the talking may think the other person is not interested in what he is saying. So, when talking with your friends, be sure that the conversation is a two-way street.
One of the most important keys to building a solid friendship with other people is to listen to them—really listen. When your friends tell you something that happened to them or complain(埋怨) about a situation, they are usually not looking for agreement but just want to be heard. So don’t try to change their mind or solve their problems, just let them know that you are listening to them.
Respecting your friends is also important to keep your relationships healthy and strong. Looking at your friends while they are talking to you is one way to show your respect, as they will feel that what they are saying is important to
you.
Unconditional support and encouragement is one of the things which friends have. True friendship means offering a shoulder when they need it, crying with them when they are sad, and laughing with them when they are happy. Only in this

Being a Popular Student
We all hope to be popular with our classmates and teachers. To enjoy popularity,we are supposed to regard the class as our big family and even offer to sacrifice our personal interests whenever necessary. While taking an active part in all our class activities,we should work responsibly to build up a good reputation as a team.
To be students with high popularity,we are to show respect, concern and sympathy for others. What's more,we never hesitate to lend a hand to those in need.
To be a popular student,we ought to be strict with ourselves in everything we do at school and make every effort to achieve all round development, being good not only at our lessons but also at sports, music, painting, social services and so on. In time of success we remain modest, while in time of difficulty we keep strong minded.
All in all, popularity among classmates and teachers comes naturally to those who keep improving their personal qualities.。
