A Trip to Lanzhou
Last month, our seventh-grade class from Jiaozuo Middle School in Henan province went on an exciting trip to Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu province. It was a trip full of adventures, learning experiences, and unforgettable memories.
We set off early in the morning on a comfortable tour bus. The journey to Lanzhou was long but enjoyable as we chatted, played games, and admired the beautiful scenery along the way. When we finally reached Lanzhou, we were all eager to explore the city and learn more about its history and culture.
Our first stop was the Lanzhou Waterwheel Garden, where we marveled at the ancient waterwheels that have been used for centuries to irrigate the farmlands along the Yellow River. It was fascinating to learn about the ingenuity of the people who designed and built these waterwheels. We also took a boat ride on the Yellow River, enjoying the cool breeze and stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Next, we visited the Gansu Provincial Museum, where we learned about the history and culture of the region through its impressive collection of artifacts and exhibits. We were especially
fascinated by the Silk Road Gallery, which showcased the trade routes that connected China with the rest of the world centuries ago.
One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to the Binglingsi Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located along the Yellow River. The grottoes were filled with ancient Buddhist sculptures and carvings, some dating back over a thousand years. We were in awe of the intricate details and craftsmanship of the statues, which were a testament to the devotion and skill of the artisans who created them.
In the evenings, we enjoyed traditional Lanzhou cuisine, such as hand-pulled noodles and beef noodles soup, which are famous throughout China. We also had the opportunity to try local snacks and street food at the bustling night markets, where the sights, sounds, and smells of Lanzhou came alive.
Our trip to Lanzhou was not only a fun and educational experience but also a bonding opportunity for our class. We laughed, learned, and made memories that will last a lifetime. As we boarded the bus back to Jiaozuo, we knew that our trip to Lanzhou would always hold a special place in our hearts.
