Multi-Voltage Analog/Digital Insulation Tester
DESCRIPTION
The Megger BM50 is a multi-voltage insulation tester offering advanced performance, specifications and features, and simplicity of use. It has insulation test voltages of 50 V, 100 V, 250 V and 500 V with measurement sensitivity up to 100 GΩ.
The BM50 includes Megger’s patented analog/digital LCD display that incorporates the benefits of an analog arc indication with the accuracy of a digital reading. The analog scale helps to make rapid identification of condition and to monitor variable readings, while the digital display provides precision and simplicity.The BM50 incorporates Megger’s unique Intelligent Safety System (ISS) to protect the user and the instrument from an inadvertent connection to a live system. As part of the ISS, a voltage warning is provided in the BM50, alerting the user to the presence of external voltage greater than 25 V and inhibiting testing if 55 V or greater is detected. The BM50 is designed to IEC 1010-1, VDE0411 and BS4743 safety standards.
The BM50 is designed in a tough ABS case to withstand the most rigorous application requirements. The IP54 environmental protection rating ensures product reliability in wet and dusty conditions. Six “AA” cells housed in a separate battery compartment provide exceptional battery life.

Default Voltmeter
The default voltmeter operates when an external voltage of >25 V ac or dc is detected on and range except OFF. If this voltage
exceeds 55 V, insulation testing will be inhibited. Reverse polarity dc will ‘-dc’ to appear on the display.
Battery Condition
If the battery voltage is low during a test, the symbol
appears automatically. Batteries should be replaced as soon as possible with suitable dry cells as below.
Automatic Discharge
When the test button is released after an insulation test, the item under test will be discharged automatically. Any voltage present
will be indicated on the display so that the discharge can be monitored.
Safety
Meets the safety requirements for double insulation to IEC1010-1(1995) EN61010-1(1995) to CATIII 300V phase to earth (ground)and 440 V phase to phase.
