Economy of America After World War II As one of the victorious countries after world war II, America economy increased dramatically and had complete advantages. Its economy strength was considered to be the number one at that time in the world. Next, I will describe its development process of economy from after world war II to 60's、70's、80's and 90's, then analyse its causes and characters.
Economy development from after world war II to the late 1960's During this time, America pursued Keynesianism and intervened for full employment. When facing with crisis, government used the fiscal deficit inflation and other means to alleviate the crisis. That was why the economy at the area of west and south grew rapidly. However, it also arose some troubles like national debt and inflation, which had a strong effect on the 1970's America economy.
The development of USA economy in 70
In 1970's, America economy got into stagflation, due to great cost in Vietnam War, international balance of payment became deteriorated, then dollar crisis happened. Specifically, the dollar devalued quickly by ten percent, so,the Bretton Woods monetary system collapsed. In 1973, the Middle East war broke out, which arose oil crisis. Accordingly, the production of those west countries greatly decreased, in which America
car industry fell down obviously until by thirty-two percent, American GDP average annual growth rate is only half of the 60's. Lots of factories went bankrupt, numerous workers lost their jobs. At the same time, the total world trade fell by six in 1975.。
