Listening and Speaking
I. Teaching goals
1. Target language

Help the students to learn and use some important words: bend, blow, move, shake, nod, point, raise, eyebrow, and so on.

You should shake hands when you meet new people.
You shouldn’t arrive too late.
You must thank your host for a wonderful evening.

1) Enable the students to learn how to give advice.
2) Train the students’ listening skills to learn how to grasp the important information.

Enable the students to learn how to use correct body language in different cultures.

Step 1Warming up
Purpose: To arouse the students’ interest in learning the lesson.
Play a song If you’re happy for the students.
Step 2 Vocabulary
Purpose: Learn some common expressions about body language.

Step 3 Pre-listening
Purpose: To lead the students to the listening material.

Purpose: To train the students’ listening skills.
Listen to a conversation between an American and a Chinese student who is going to the US.
