When I was a law professor, a student reported that I made an error in grading his exam by giving him too many points. He was ___36___ and after thanking him for his honesty, I changed the ___37___ in my records. His beaming (欢笑的) face turned to __38___. “You’re lowering my grade?” he said angrily. “I would never have come in ___39___ ……”
He didn’t finish the ___40___, but it was obvious that his display of honesty was false. He thought
he’d have it all—praise and the ___41___ grade.
Several colleagues thought I should have let the higher grade ___42___ because all I’d accompl ished was to discourage him from being ___43___ in the future. And every time I tell this ___44___, some people agree with this remark.
But I can’t see how I could give good __45____ for worsening my mistake in grading by undermining the honesty of all my grades by failing to ___46___ an error. The grade itself would be a dishonest ___47___ of his knowledge and it would have been ___48___to other students. How could I possibly give a student a gift of an__49___ grade?
I know ___50___ reporting an error in o ne’s favor is unusual, but, like ___51___ extra change, it’s clearly the right thing to do. People of character, those with real honesty, hate to give up benefits as __52____ as anyone else. The difference is that for them a good conscience and reputation is ___53___enough to give reason for the cost of doing the right thing.
Perhaps lowering the student’s grade did ___54___ him from being honest in the future, but bribing (行贿) him to be honest so that he does the right thing when it’s cost-free would have ___55___him even more. The duty to be honest is about right and wrong, not risks and rewards.

In a nation with a one-child family planning policy, it’s understandable for parents to worry over whether they are petting their children. Are the children truly as fragile as sometimes made out to be?
The concern has been brought into focus with the popularity of a hit reality TV series, Hunan TV’s Da d! Where Are We Going? and Zhejiang TV’s First Time In Life. In both, children as young as three have become new public figures. In the show First Time In Life, children chosen from ordinary families are given small tasks to complete by themselves;the ongoing Dad! show centers on five celebrity fathers and their children who are forced to live a simple life in rural areas, far outside their comfort zone.
Regardless of their family background, the children’s reactions to new environments have struck the public.
In one episode of Dad! , the five-year-old daughter of former Olympic diving champion Tian Liang cries and hides behind her father when they arrive at a rural village. In an episode of the other series, a young girl in Tianjin breaks down into a tearful fit after being asked by her father to go out alone to buy eggs and a pancake.
In the eyes of some observers, these kids show no sense of independence, and the reason is put down to parents who are overly sheltering. But television viewers and parents were heartened when the sobbing
Tianjin girl finally w iped away her tears as she returned holding the pancake. In the case of Tian’s daughter, she eventually began to take care of her younger companions and learned to seek help from people she didn’t know.
The father of the Tianjin girl felt “delightfull y shocked” and said. “She used to have to be accompanied by her mother or grandmother. Now she has the courage to do it all by herself. ”
The shows have led many parents to change how they raise their children. Shanghai mother Liang Jing said she would try to “give some training” to her shy son, asking him to tidy up his toys. Lin Yi, a parenting expert in Beijing, said giving kids a chance to do things for themselves helps to raise their sense of achievement, which carries benefits throughout their liv es. ”
61. The children in the two programs are different in .
A. family background
B. age group
C. personality
D. popularity
62. What attracts the audience’s eyes in the programs?
A. What the kids’ family background is like.
B. Where children’s real comfort zone is.
C. How children react to new environments.
D. Why those children are independent.
63. What is Tian Liang’s daughter expected to do in the show?
A. Go out to buy something alone.
B. Hide in a safe place to avoid a danger.
C. Make friends with strange adults.
D. Live in a rural village with her father.
64. It can be inferred from the underline words “delightfully shocked” that .
A. father is more important than mother in a family
B. children deserve a chance to be independent
C. parents should provide a safe environment
D. the children are as fragile as parents expected
65. The shows are bound to raise a wave of discussion about .
A. protecting good traditions

In times of economic crisis, Americans turn to their families for support. If the Great Depression is any guide, we may see a drop in our skyhigh divorce rate. But this won’t necessarily represent an increase in happy marriages. In the long run, the Depression weakened American families, and the current crisis will probably do the same.
We tend to think of the Depression as a time when families pulled together to survive huge job losses. By 1932, when nearly one-quarter of the workforce was unemployed, the divorce rate had declined by around 25% from 1929. But this doesn’t mean people were suddenly happier with their marriages. Rather, with incomes decreasing and insecure jobs, unhappy c ouples often couldn’t afford to divorce. They feared neither spouse could manage alone.
Today, given the job losses of the past year, fewer unhappy couples will risk starting separate households. Furthermore, the housing market meltdown will make it more difficult for them to finance their separations by selling their homes.
After financial disasters family members also tend to do whatever they can to help each other and their communities. A 1940 book “The Unemployed Man and His Family”, described a f amily in which the husband initially reacted to losing his job “with tireless search for work.” He was always active, looking for odd jobs to do.
The problem is that such an impulse is hard to sustain. Across the country, many similar families were unable to maintain the initial boost in morale. For some, the hardships of life without steady work eventually overwhelmed their attempts to keep their families together. The divorce rate rose again during the rest of the decade as the recovery took hold.
Millions of American families may now be in the initial stage of their responses to the current crisis, working together and supporting one another through the early months of unemployment.
Today’s economic crisis could well generate a similar number of couples whose relationships have been irreparably(无法弥补地)ruined. So it’s only when the economy is healthy again that we’ll begin to see just how many broken families have been created.
66. In the initial stage, the current economic crisis is likely to __________.
A. tear many troubled families apart
B. bring about a drop in the divorce rate
C. contribute to enduring family ties
D. cause a lot of conflicts in the family
67.In the Great Depression many unhappy couples chose to stick together
because_______.
A. starting a new family would be hard
B. they expected things would turn better
C. they wanted to better protect their kids
D. living separately would be too costly
68.In addition to job losses. What stands in the way of unhappy couples getting a
divorce?
A. Mounting family debts
B. A sense of insecurity
C. Falling housing prices
D. Difficulty in getting a loan
69.What will the current economic crisis eventually do to some married couples?
A. It will irreparably damage their relationship
B. It will undermine their mutual understanding
C. It will help strengthen their emotional bonds
D. It will force them to pull their efforts together
70.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A. The economic recovery will see a higher divorce rate
B. Few couples can stand the test of economic hardships
C. A stable family is the best protection against poverty.
D. Money is the foundation of many a happy marriage
D
Autumn means different things to different people. “It all depends on your personality.” said British naturalist Richard Mabey. “Personality shapes your view of the season,” he said. “You may see it as a fading-away, a packing-up(终止), or as a time of packing in another sense --- the excited gathering of resources before a long journey.”
If this is true, perhaps it tells us a little about, for instance, Thomas Hood, the 19th Century English poet. About November, he wrote:
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees
November!
On the other hand, another English poet John Keats, already sensing he was seriously ill, was inspired by a late September day to pen one of the most famous poems in the English language, To Autumn. He wrote to a friend afterwards that there was something comforting and healing about it.
According to Richard Mabey, Keats has the biological evidence on his side. Autumn is not a time of slowing down, but a time of new beginnings and great movements of creatures. For example, just at the moment that Keats's “gathering swallows” (in T o Autumn) are departing for Africa, millions of creatures
are fleeing from the frozen north like Iceland, Greenland and Russia to winter along the east and south coasts of Britain. According to scientists, before falling, the leaves transfer their chlorophyll(叶绿素) and carbohydrates into the woody parts of the tree for safe-keeping over winter. What remains are the natural antioxidants(防老剂) in the leaves: the yellow and orange carotenoids(类胡萝卜素), and another protective chemical specially produced for autumn, the bright-red anthocyanin. High color is not a signal of deterioration(退化) and decline, but of detox(排毒的) ability and good health.
A century after Keats, the American poet Loren Eiseley wrote in his journal: “Suppose we saw ourselves burning like maples in a golden autumn. And that we could break up like autumn leaves…dropping their substance like chlorophyll. Would not our attitude towards death be different?”
71. From Tho mas Hood’s poem, we may infer that _______.
A. he suffered a lot from cold November
B. he missed the shining summer days very much
C. he had a negative attitude towards autumn
D. he enjoyed butterflies and bees very much
72. In autumn, leaves turn yellow before falling because ______.
A. they can’t bear the freezing
B. they can’t get enough water from the wood part
C. chlorophyll and carbohydrates have been lost through leaves
D. chlorophyll and carbohydrates have come back to the wood part
73. From the passage we can learn that________.
A. autumn has different faces in different people’s eyes
B. John Keats was a good biologist as well as a poet
C. all creatures move from the cold north to Britain for winter
D. The three poets were only known for their poems about autumn
74. Which word can best describe Loren Eiseley’s attitude towards autumn?
A. Fearful
B. Optimistic
C. Doubtful
D. Realistic.
75. What does the underlined sentence mean?
A. Man can never live long, just as leaves must leave the tree annually.
B. Man is different from autumn leaves, which will come again the next spring.
C. Man should have a positive attitude towards death, quite different from autumn leaves.
D. Man should treat death calmly, just like autumn leaves fall to the ground.

On October 21st, Beijing Educational Examination Yuan declared that in Beijing the total score of English in the 2016 College Entrance Examination will be declined from 150 to 100, which arouses a heated discussion. Opinions vary from person to person.
Some people think the policy will contribute to reduce the study pressure of the high school students, providing students with more time to learn other subjects especially our mother language Chinese. Additionally, a good command of English can be achieved in university instead of at high school. On the other hand, others hold the opposite opinion that since English has become an international language, that is, a practical language tool, English learning must be strengthened to keep pace with other developed countries during the economical and cultural globalization age.。
