2015年6月6日雅思写作(一)题目类别society 提问方式Discussion考试题目Some people prefer to provide help and support directly to those in their local community who needit. Others, however prefer to give money to national and international charitable organizations.Discuss both views and give your opinion.有人认为给需要救助的人自己的帮助更加可取,有人认为给有需求的国家或国际援助组织提供经济援助更加重要,讨论两种观点,给出你的意见。
Although people in industrialized countries lead a high standard of living, it is undeniable that there are still 1.2 billion people living below the poverty line. In order to solve poverty-related problems, I feel that all kinds of help should be encouraged and respected.Giving a helping hand to those who are in need in the local community seems reasonable. It is because even in the richest countries, there are still a lot of people, such as disabled people and orphanages, suffering from famine and extreme poverty. For this reason, it is easy and convenient for us to help our fellow citizens, such as donating food or clothing to them, so that we can see the result of our actions immediately. By contrast, it is rather difficult to track expenditure of international aids, which might result in corruption in some cases. Those who donate money to domestic and international charities believe that the collection of money has a tremendous effect on the poor countries compared with other forms of help. This is because few people are able to donate a large amount of money to construct schools, hospitals and roads in poor areas. Instead, governments and charities can achieve this. International aids can also purchase vaccines which are available in developed countries by using the money raised worldwide and save millions children’s life.In my view, minor proportion of donated money and other sorts of help should be appreciated equally as long as the money reaches to those who need it desperately. The government could run campaign and encourage door-to door help. At the same time, charitable organizations should make every penny count for donors.(word count:274)2015年6月6日雅思写作Developing countries require help offered by international organizations to ensure healthy and sustainable development. 2015年雅思大作文真题2015.1.10The leadersor directors of organizations are often older people. But some people say that young people can also be a leader. What do you think?2015.1.17Some people think that the amount of noise people make have to be controlled strictly, others say that people are free to make as much as they wish. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.2015.1.29Nowadays both scientists and tourists can go to remote natural environments such as the south pole. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?2015.1.31Some people argue that too much attention and too many resources are given to the protection of wild animals and birds. To what extent do you agree or disagree?2015.2.7Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists, not local people. Why? What can be done to attract local people?2015.2.12Some people think the best way to improve road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving cars and motorcycles. To what extent do you agree or disagree?2015.2.28Some students take one year off between finish school and going to university, in order to travel or to work. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?Sample Answer:An increasing number of students choose to spend one year travelling or working before going to university after they graduate from high schools. Although students can benefit a lot from the experiences in a gap year, its drawbacks cannot be ignored. On prominent advantage of experiencing a gap year is that it helps students to accumulate working experience and have a clear perspective of career development. High schools emphasise academic development, which often makes students perplexed whenthey decide to choose a major in university. If an opportunity can be provided for them to participate in social activities, they will probably be more certain about their choice of major and work. In addition, working or traveling contributes to broadening students’ horizons and enriching their life. They need to live independently and communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds, which is of great value to both their life and work in the future.Despite these advantages, this view still cannot be supported by some parents and teachers. It is worried that students will devote too much to work and travel, and will probably give up their academic development. University is a place where students can acquire knowledge and skills. If they give up a bachelor degree, not only will the academic development be delayed, but also their career development will be negatively influenced. This is because with only a high-school degree, students are less likely to stand out in the employment market. Some graduates with low degrees have to undertake some jobs demanding long time and offering low income. To sum up, taking a gap year before starting university life provides students good opportunities to know more about themselves and the real world. However, if they are indulged in travel or work and abandon their academic task, they might feel regretful soon.2015.3.12Some people think it is important to plant more trees in open areas in towns and cities than build more housing. To what extent do you agree or disagree?主体段第一段:绿色植物光合作用不但能吸收二氧化碳而且能释放氧气。

2015雅思写作真题版
2/ 8/ 2014: In many parts of the world, children and teenagers are committing more crimes. Why is this happening? How should they be punished?Today, news about youth crime is rife. Theft, burglary or even murder are now committed by people of younger and younger ages. The aim of this essay is to investigate the factors responsible for the increase in juvenile delinquency and put forward a number of ways to appropriately punish young offenders. It is observed that extreme behaviors are exhibited by most children from dysfunctional families. Without the supervision from parents or caregivers, children’s extreme behaviors such as aggression, hostility or defiance are given free rein to develop in their later lives. In addition, there is a direct correlation between the lack of engagement in educational activities and serious criminal offending in children. Out of boredom, children befriend with antisocial peers and will gradually copy their behaviors. Media also plays an enormous role in shaping children’s crim inality. For example, games such as grand theft auto can desensitise younger players to extreme acts of violence and cruelty, encourage them to commit crimes while giving them the impression that it is morally acceptable to do so.Imprisonment is often cited as a way to punish juvenile offenders. However, it is my view that this approach can produce extremely destructive effects. The youth can potentially be victims of physical or sexual abuse from older prisoners, as well as can adopt their negative behaviors. I feel that the better cure for young criminals is rehabilitation. Throughout education and training, the youth can realise their wrongful actions and be given opportunities to turn over a new leaf and transform themselves into useful members of society later in life. There are reasons to explain why today antisocial behavior among the youth nowadays has reached a historically unprecedented high and rehabilitation is the answer for this.9/ 8/ 2014: Some people think that governments should ban dangerous sports, while others think people should have freedom to do any sports or activity. Discuss and give your opinion.Dangerous sports have been very much in vogue in the last decades. With its high risk factor, some think that they should be outlawed. However, others hold the belief that the decision to take part in any sport activities should be made free by individuals. This essay will delve into these both points of view.On the one hand, there are justifications to the argument that people should be given freedom to take up any sport activities however high risks they involve. Since the beginning of time, men or women always have the need to explore, challenge themselves or test their levels of endurance. Therefore, banning these activities will rob people of these opportunities. Besides, participation in any kind of sports, be it swimming or soccer, would incur the risks of potential injuries. In fact, news of world famous footballers having to retire prematurely due to injuries are not few and far between. For this reason, there is no compelling reason to discriminate dangerous sports against other sports in terms of danger level. However, others have grounds to believe that the governments should ban dangerous sports. What is worth mentioning is as these sports gain popularity, those who take part in them gain undue confidence and neglect to equip themselves with proper safety equipment. When accidents happen, they are often very expensive. For example, statistics show that each rescue attempt on Everest can cost adventurers hundreds of thousands of dollars. This could cripple their financial situation in a long time.To conclude, I feel that high risk adventure sports should not be banned. However, those who pursue these activities should be better prepared bear the costs of rescue if accident occurs.16/ 8/ 2014: In some countries, governments are encouraging industries and businesses to move out of the cities and into regional areas. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? In the past, factories were often built in close proximity to city areas as the lack of transportation forbade people to do otherwise. However, this is not exactly the case today, when industries and businesses are moving from municipal and into countryside areas in flocks. This essay will elaborate on both positive and negative effects of this trend. On the positive side, firstly, this movement makes environmental sense. Due to industrial activities, residents of many cities around the world are still breathing in air and consume water dirty enough to cause numerous health diseases. Therefore, moving businesses out of the cities will rid human and other species of pollution. A further advantage of this trend is reducing the gap between the rich and the poor in a country, as countryside dwellers can opt to work in factories with higher pay, rather than agricultural work. This will eventually bring about peace and harmony to society. On the negative side, doing business in the countryside also represents some notable drawbacks. To begin with, skilled workers are a rarity in rural areas. Most of people living in small towns and villages do not receive sufficient education to undertake intellectual jobs. What is also disadvantageous is based in regional areas, companies can distance themselves further from their customers, their suppliers and other partners in their business transactions, which can weaken their profitability. In conclusion, moving business from cities to rural areas can be a smart decision. However, there are disadvantages that should be weighed carefully against the advantages.10/ 1/ 2015: Leaders and directors in an organisation are normally elder people. Some people think younger leader would be better. Do you agree or disagree?Leadership is long thought to be within the province of elder people. With this belief, many people harbour doubts about the significance of the youth in high ranks. However, it is my personal conviction that the youth display qualities that are conducive to the health of any organization. The first justification for why leaders and directors should be young people is that they are more technologically-inclined. In the fast changing world today, being able to keep up with technological trend is an overwhelming advantage that young people have over their elder counterparts. It helps them to interact with customers more quickly and clearly and creates stronger public image for the company. The young can also use technology to increase the efficiency of operation, to manage the cash flow and resources more properly. In an era when security threats are always imminent, technology also enables young leaders to protect important data and ideas away from its competitors. What’s more, the youth possess great creativity, which can be conside red one of the most important leadership qualities. It is a simple correlation that higher creativity results in greater innovation within the organization and hence more spectacular success in the long run. In a similar fashion, when failures occur, the young with their creative capacities can come up with better solutions and in a shorter period of time. The long-standing belief that leading positions should be exclusively held by elder people has eclipsed many remarkable contributions of the youth in society. Therefore, the importance of having younger participants in top positions should not be refuted or downplayed.17/ 1/ 2015: Some people think that there should be some strict controls on noise. Others think that they could just make as much noise as they want. Discuss both views and give your opinion.People of the twenty-first century are being plagued by noise pollution, a problem which is growing considerably in extent, frequency and severity. Due to numerous wide-ranging adverse effects brought about by noise, some are of the opinion that the government should enforce noise ordinances. However, it is also argued that individuals have the freedom to make as much as noise as they want. Both sides of the argument will be analysed below.Attempts should be made to regulate noise because noise is associated with many adverse health consequences. As studies show, a growing number of modern day people are experiencing hearing impairment as a result of prolonged exposure to loud noise. No matter where it comes from - in their homes,at their workplaces or in other public places, noise is secretly killing the hearing ability of people of all ages, affecting their communication and also behaviors. In addition, noise can cause long-term effects on the psychlogical well-being through sleep disturbances. In fact, it is the culprit of frequent mood swings, decrements in work performance , memory loss and the decline in other mental functions. For these reasons, environmental noise should be kept under close control. However, the argument that there should not be control on noise also has some convincing points. It can be said that noise restriction violates the basic human rights that every individuals are entitled to. As long as people have freedom to eat whatever they desire, speak whatever is on their minds, they should also be given permission to make noise. Therefore, legislation to limit noise production can prove unfeasible. In summary, the modern day environment is being gradually degraded by noise. Nevertheless, the most effective method to control it is by education, not by force.29/01/2015: It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environment, such as South Pole.Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?Barely a hundred years ago, virtually inconceivable to many was the idea of travelling to extreme places on Earth, such as South Pole. Today, there is no such thing as an inaccessible destination. However, the ease with whichanyone can travel to many remote areas of the world has presented itself both as a blessing and a curse. It is the goal of this essay to delve into both merits and demerits of this development. On the positive side, this development has a paramount role to play in the furtherance and dissemination of knowledge about the world. South Pole, for instance, is the place where scientists can avail themselves to the opportunity of exploring and learning more about astronomy and the formation of the Earth. Besides, the influx of travelers into remote areas has given a welcome boost to the tourist industry. Without question, many local inhabitants are lifted out of poverty thanks to the trade with outsiders. However, it is imperative that the drawbacks brought along with this development not be shrugged off. It is universally acknowledged that in the encroachment of tourists, these places are now littered with huge amount of bottles, used food packages and cans. There is no doubt that the tourists themselves are the also the chief contributors of the ecological disruption in these areas. Furthermore, local people often find themselves in disharmony with foreign travelers, due to their differences in lifestyles, behaviors and ways of thinking. Gradually, this can mutate into conflicts and possibly war.To conclude, despite its disadvantages, this development should by no means be stopped.31/01/2015: Some people say that too much attention and too many resources are given in the protection of wild animals and birds. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion? For centuries, deforestation, farming, urbanisation and other human activities have wreaked havoc with wild animal species and sent them to the verge of extinction. Regarding wildlife protection, awareness has been raised and attempts have been made. However, some hold the idea that the protection of endangered species has been given inordinate amount of attention and resources. Personally, I do not see eye to eye with this point of view.In the first place, wildlife protection has never taken center stage on the media. Compared with celebrities, for example, the amount of coverage of wild animals is infinitesimal. Clearly, the reason is profits. In other words, programs featuring wild animals do not generate interest of the public and accordingly returns for the producers. The absence of educational programs concerning the lives of wild animals has blinded people to the reality that wild animals are dying and the ecological system is being disrupted severely. In addition, governments around the world do not prioritise wildlife conservation on their agenda’s. As a matter of fact, laws to save wild animals have been introduced, but they are loosely enforced. Because of this, every man can freely exploit land, chop down forests, and divert the water sources, all of which combine to destroy the natural habitats of threatened animals. In every corner of the world, with or without intention, human are still causing changes in climatic and geographical conditions, which accelerates animal extinction. In light of this fact, I feel that not enough attention and resources are being given in the conservation of wild flora and fauna and stronger actions need to be taken to save them.07/02/2015: Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists but not local people. Why is this the case and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these places? In terms of local people’s attendance, museums and historical places have always paled in comparison with other recreational centers. This essay will present some reasons why this has occurred and put forward some solutions to resurrect the interest of local people in visiting these places. The small and dwindling number of local visitors to museums can firstly be attributable to the low frequency with which activities are held. In other words, the renewals of existing exhibits or the organization of new programs and events are few and far between. For this reason, little interest is aroused in those who had once been to the museum or places of historical significance. Furthermore, museums and historical sites do not come cheap. In fact, to get admission to these places, visitors are often required to pay a substantial amount of money, which can be worth a day’s salary. In order to drum up more interest of local people in coming to museums, a number of ways can be employed. What can be done first of all is to organise activities which incorporate art performances with appropriate content. This not only encourages the attendance of local people but also represents a greatopportunity to educate them about the history of their places of origin. In addition, the authorities can also lower the admission fee or offer discounts to local inhabitants. To conclude, many reasons can be given as to why local people lose their enthusiasm for museums and places of historical importance. However, the revival of these places is within our grasp should proper actions be taken.12/02/ 2015: Some people think that the best way to ensure road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving cars or riding motorbikes. To what extent do you agree or disagree? The legal driving age issue has always been a societal hot potato in many countries. Suggestion has been made that the only measure to reduce road fatality is to outlaw young people from driving. As far as I’m concerned, I partly share this point of view.Firstly, I agree that road safety can be guaranteed by raising the minimum legal driving age. In fact, young people with their hot heads and devil-may-care attitudes are the authors of most traffic accidents. In order to parade their driving audacity, they often throw caution in the winds and drive without helmet at lightning speed. Combined with their limited ability to maneuver their vehicles, accidents are all but inescapable. Furthermore, for other traffic participants, their fates are also sealed. It is no exaggeration to say that no matter how well people drive, their lives can be claimed in an instant by other younger and more reckless drivers.Nonetheless, increasing driving age is not the panacea for all traffic problems and roads can be made safer by other methods as well. For example, more overpasses or underpasses should be constructed with foolproof instructions of how to use them. By doing this, the government can save thousands of pedestrians from being killed in road crash. Next, at intersections or along sections of the roads, lightning, road conditions should be improved and more guide posts should be installed. Together with these, a blanket ban should be imposed on the use of mobile phone, drugs or alcohol while driving. With the collective effort of the government and their citizens, I believe that road safety can be within reach. To conclude, it is my belief that fewer people’s lives will be put in jeopardy while taking part in traffic should the governments take the bull by the horns, restrict young people from driving and enforce other regulations with strict adherence.28/02/2015: Some students prefer to take a year off between school and university, to work or to travel. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? Many parents spurn taking a gap year and consider it a start of the downward spiral of their children both socially and academically. Despite their opposition, the idea of gap year has never lost ground among new high school graduates. In my opinion, the advantages of a gap year leave its disadvantages in eclipse. After 12 years of burning the midnight oil trying to pass examinations and polish school records, a gap year is a chance for students to get in touch with themselves and also the world outside their school walls. In fact, for many students, schoolwork is prioritized over their hobbies or creating memories with their friends and family members. Furthermore, going straight to college without spending time to decide what major fits most or to reflect on their future goals and aspirations would be a one way ticket to school swapping, which can cost students and their parents dear.A gap year can be misspent by a few ways, such as partying or being couch potatoes. However, it should be noted that a majority of students opt to work or travel during their year off from school and win uncountable benefits for themselves. To be more specific, travelling can help improving their adaptability and resilience, expanding their circles of friends and sociability. Likewise, with past experience in any kind of part time jobs, students will have a shinier resume and accordingly, higher likelihood of getting employed. In light of these facts, taking a year off from school is not an ill-advised decision and parents whose children gravitate towards spending one year off before university should shake off any unfavorable attitudes toward it.14/03/2015: Nowadays, many families have both parents working. Some working parents believe other family members like grandparents can take care of their children, while others think childcare centers provide the best care. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. It is not an uncommon practice that in many families nowadays, both fathers and mothers are actively engaged in employment. Within these family structures, there has been a mounting concern about the children’s diminished access to parents. It is often argued that in the absence of their parents, relatives are the best caregivers; however, others claim that children are best put in daycare centers. In this essay, both these points of view will be discussed.Under the supervision of a family’s relativ es, particularly grandparents, children are in good hands. In fact, it can be said that grandmothers can fulfill children’s needs in a more effective way than their own mother, due to their past motherhood experience. In addition, they are also the glue that helps binding the relationship between children and their parents whose full attention is paid to their careers. Even though their parents are not always near, children would not suffer the feeling of isolation or neglect with the presence of their relatives. On the other hand, childcare centers offer a variety of advantages for children whose both parents participate in the workforce. First of all, children’s social skills such as sharing and taking turns can be promoted as a result of regular contact with peers. Second of all, daycare centers are also a field upon which children regardless of gender or ages can fairly compete with each other. Without doubt, competition in early years can facilitate children’s academic achievement in later lives becauseit often spurs them to pursue excellence and prove their self-worth.To conclude, parents who choose to pursue dual income can rely on either relatives or daycare centers for childcare responsibilities. However, it is suggested that both parents should strive to clear up the blurred line between their personal and professional lives, achieve a work-life balance and find more time for their own children.21/03/2015: Some people believe famous people's support towards international aid organizations draws the attentions to the public. Others think celebrities make the problems less important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.Celebrities’ involvement in humanitarian activities has almost become the rule in the modern world. While it is often said that the presence of famous people has been conducive for charities, others believe they contribute little in raising the awareness of the public. This essay will elaborate on both of these perspectives. The endorsement of celebrities benefits charities immensely. With the participation of celebrities, more attention is called to international aid programs, which accordingly brings more income for the charities to proceed appropriate actions with charitable causes. One prime example of this is Angelina Jolie, whose interest in humanitarian affairs inspires millions of individuals to provide financial support or to do volunteer work, in order to ease the suffering of African children. Statistically, thanks to the campaigns that carry celebrities’ images, bil lions of dollars are raised annually, which makes it wrong to entirely disregard their help in making the world a better place. However, ample justifications can be provided for the cynicism of celebrity activism. Lamentably, for many celebrities, their primary purposes in supporting charities are to promote their own images, gain more public respect, and further their own careers. Obviously, the blame for this should be assumed by the media, which brings the celebrities into the spotlight and effectively puts the causes on the sidelines when broadcasting relief programs. For instance, after watching the single “You’ve got a friend” from Comic Relief charity featuring the band Mcfly, many of their fans are impressed with how adorable the band members cry, rather than how appalling the condition that the impoverished are living in.To conclude, the jury is still out on the contribution of famous people in international aid organizations.28/03/2015: Some people think that the increasing use of computers and mobile phones in communication has negative effects on young people's reading and writing skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Despite several undeniable virtues of computers and mobile phones, much concern has been raised about their corrosive effects on human literacy skills. From my perspective, I agree that this worry is not at all groundless. The deterioration of people’s reading and w riting skills is first explained by the widespread use of word abbreviation and the lack of regard to grammar rules when people use messages to communicate with others. For instance, “idk” is so commonly used as a replacement for the phrase “I don't know” that some internet users might forget how to write it right. In addition, computers and mobile phones permit the use of emoticons and stickers toexpress emotions, which can lead to the slow reduction of people’s ability to communicate feelings in words.Critics might claim that that prevalence of computers and cellphones has greatly facilitated the development of literacy and the argument given is that users can avail themselves of a deluge of academic articles on the Internet. Although it is true that a majority of reading materials are easy to find and freely up for grabs for internet users, they do not seem to have much pulling power these days. Classic novels, as famous as Frankeinstein for example, are viewed and downloaded much less than tasteless and poorly-written modern-day novels such as Fifty Shades of Grey. This fact effectively refutes the statement that people who own computer and cellphone have superior reading and writing skills than those who do not.To conclude, I am inclined to restate that although the advent of computer and cellphones might be a tremendous boon to society in many aspects, it fails to do people favors as far as literacy goes.18/04/2015: Some people think that schools should reward students who show the best academic results, while others believe that it is more important to reward students who show improvements. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.During their knowledge acquisition process, students are affected by many factors. In terms of how to improve students’ performance in school, opinions are widely divergent. While many suggest that only students whose academic results are the best should be rewarded, others hold the opinion that students who make improvements are more deserving of praise and incentives. This essay will discuss both of these views. There are reasonable grounds to believe that rewards should be given to students who do best. In fact, the validity of rewards cannot be doubted given that it is an easy and effective way to give recognition and attention to students. This can consequently provide them with more motivation, which is a highly influential factor in determining success or failure in their studying process. However, in the same class, students are often of mixed intellectual levels and aptitudes. This explains why some students face an uphill struggle in achieving good results in many subjects while others can accomplish this withlittle effort. This fact is demonstrable in the subject of Math, for example. Clearly, male students with higher levels of intelligence and logic can master this subject with less hitch than the female counterparts, even though they do not try as hard. This means if rewards are offered to those who does best in Math class, it will always be boys who receive them. Girls, on the other hand, will feel resentful and lose interest in learning. For this reason, it is not an advisable idea to invariably give rewards to best students in class. To conclude, rewards can generate strong motivation in students and it is better to give them to those who show the greatest improvements in their studies, rather than the highest achievers in the class.25/4/2015:Young people who commit serious crimes should be punished in the same way as adults. Do you agree or disagree? To date, more and more criminal cases have been reported with the involvement of young people. This has certainly raised the question of whether changes should be implemented in terms of how to deal with those who are considered unpunishable by law. In my opinion, every offender, regardless of their age, should receive equal punishments. The first reason is age does not determine the criminality of an individual. Scientists have concluded that the tendency to antisocial behavior is rather influenced by genes or environments than by how old they are. That means if children are long exposed to violence or have a genetic predisposition to criminal behaviors, they are likely to engage in illegal acts or even more serious crimes. Besides, with the ready availability of information, young people are fully aware of the consequences of their actions. It can be said that a majority of them do it with deliberation. For this reason, there should not be any differentiation between young people and the older ones once crimes have been committed. Moreover, if young people were legitimately exempt from criminal responsibility, malicious adults would waste no chance to take advantage of this loophole. There have been more than just several cases in which adults hired younger people to perform criminal acts so that they can stay away from, or reduce their responsibilities. Without such policy, citizens would be better protected from harms and live in much greater safety.。

International aids can also purchase vaccines which are available in developed countries by using the money raised worldwide and save millions children ’s life.In my view, minor proportion of donated money and other sorts of help should be appreciated equally as long as the money reaches to those who need it desperately. The government could run campaign and encourage door-to door help. At the same time, charitable organizations should make every penny count for donors.(word count :274)2015年6月6日雅思写作Developing countries require help offered by international organizations to ensure healthy and sustainable development. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
word count:250With the rapid urbanization of our society, tree seems more valuable than ever before. At the same time, a great number of people support more greenery in open areas in towns and cities rather than more housing buildings. I am of the opinion that this action has more benefits than drawbacks.Trees are an important part of the urban environment and a city with easy access to green spaces is more livable and attractive for most people. First of all, as we all know, green plants can carry out photosynthesis, which not only absorb carbon dioxide, but also release oxygen. Therefore, the air quality in cities will be improved greatly. Secondly, people living in cities with plenty of trees are less likely to suffer health problems caused by smog and fumes. This is extremely important because today travelling by car has become a major means of travel in most cities.Housing guarantees people’s basic need of accommodation. Today, many real estate developers overdevelop the open areas with the purpose of gaininghuge profit. This will occupy the valuable and limited land resources. In addition, considering our almost saturated real estate industry and market, there is no more need to build more housing. In fact, many employerscannot afford to purchase a flat because of the high housing price. Therefore, compared to housing building, trees seems more significant to our environment. To sum up, I believe that planting more trees in open areas will bring far more gains than losses.2015.3.14Some working parents believe children centers can provide best care for children, while others think of other family members like grandparents can do this job. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.Traditionally, toddlers are raised by their relatives such as grandparents in most countries. However, daycare centres have gained a growing popularity among working parents in recent years. From my point of view, attending a childcare centre has more benefits. One obvious argument in favor of daycare centres is that it provides children with the professional childhood education. This is because a good daycare centre is normally equipped with well-trained staff who can impart different skills, such as singing, dancing, painting and storytelling, to children through a variety of activities during the day. In addition to thewell-organised, structuredprojects, toddlers are provided with more opportunities to socialize with other peers, which helpsthem gain confidenceand self-consicousness. However, these opportunities are rare to achieve if they are watched over by grandparents.Opponents feel that a relative care is as effective as children centre. The reason for this is that taking care of a child is never an easy task, as children need constant love and attention. In fact, due to the limited number of caregivers, children are less likely to get the one-on-one care. By contrast, relatives, grandparents in particular, have sufficient time to take care of their beloved grandchildren, which also contributes to the family bond.I personally believe that no child can become anactive and valuable member of any society without intercommunicating with other peers. Therefore, although there are conniving arguments for a relative care, it is better to send them into daycare centers in the childhood period.2015.3.21Some people believe famous people’s support toward international aid organizations draws the attention to problems, while others think celebrities make the problems less important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.这个题目有很多关键词,famous people, international aid organization, MAKE problems less important. 很容易跑题,或者举例不恰当.word count:271With the negative influence of famous people’s bad behavior exposing to our slight more frequently, plenty of citizens begin to doubt their support towards international aid organizations. However, many people still believethat famous people are helpers rather problem makers. From my point of view, international aid organizations can attract more citizens’ attention on problems if celebrities give the right support and set up good images. It is sensible to argue that international charity groups can take advantage of the publicityof celebrities. With the announcement of high-profile figures, such as famous singers, movie stars and sports professionals, the activities or campaigns of international organisations can be responded immediately, if they are endorsed by celebrities. In the early time of this year, ALS Ice Bucket Challengespread around the world within a few days by the sharing of many celebrities. Meanwhile, the organisations also received millions of donationby fans as well.Nevertheless, it is an undeniable fact that a small part of celebrities don’t gain muchpopularity or bring any convenience to international aid organizations. Although some celebrities give their support to these organizations outwardly, they don’t brin g any tangible help. For example, some celebrities lead a luxurious life and never take practical actions to social problems, or even only take advantage of international aid organizations to advocate for themselves. As a result, the public will looseconfidence to these organizations, not to mention solving problems. To sum up, I believe international aid organizations will receive much more help fromcelebrities and figure out more problems if celebrities can make the right choices andtheir celebrity effect is used appropriately.2015.3.28Some people say that communication by computers and phones will have negative effects on young people’s writing and reading skills. Do you agree or disagree? Some educators have warned that the prevalenceof mobile phones and the internet has a negative effect on adolescents’ academi c ability. I agree with this view.Firstly, the wide use of “Internet English” is regarded as the culprit of the declining writingskills. One obvious reason is that young adults may make some grammatical mistakes unconsciously because of the frequent use of improper abbreviations and punctuation on mobile devices, and this might pose a threat to their future career where a professional writing ability is required in most companies. Therefore, many linguists have expressed their concerns that the instant messaging and chatting on mobile phones might harm the ability of using formal written English.Secondly, the poor reading proficiency can be put down to the frequent use of technologiesas well. Compared to the older generation, young people today are cluttered with different gadgets, like iPad and iPhone. For instance, with easy access to wifi, they can surf the internetanywhere and anytime to follow the latest information of their idols in another country. However, most social networks deliver fragment and useless information, which not only steals time away from solitary reading but also undermine the ability to think independently. In myopinion, this phenomenon should be reversed as soon as possible because reading has a profound effect on a nation’s future. In conclusion, while these electronic devices make the communication much more convenient, I am in the camp that they might affect young people’s academic performance negatively.2015.4.11Nowadays, older people who need employment have to compete with younger people. What problems do this cause? And what are the solutions? It is true that a growing number of young adults are faced with increasing competition from the elderly in the workplace.Although there will undoubtedly be some negative consequencesof this trend, we can take steps to mitigate these potential problems. Some related problems can be anticipated. The main issue is that more young employees are likely to suffer unemployment. This is because young employees are relatively restricted in terms of work experience and communication skills, compared with those experienced workers. Therefore, employers prefer to recruit older people with higher working efficiency rather thanthose who just graduate from the university. In addition, without a decent job and salary, it is extremely difficult for young people to make a living and raise their families, and this poses a threat to social stability sincesome of them might commit a crime to make a fast buck.Personally, I feel that governments and academic institutions should work hand in hand to tackle this issue. Most elders of retirement age, especially those living in industrialized countries receive a pension monthly, so there is no need for them toseek a job. In other words, the government should allocate more money to pension system, which can basically guarantee the basic needs of most elders. Besides that, education system should update the curriculum used currently and design more career-oriented courses for job hunters. By doing this, young people can become more competitive in the job market. In conclusion, I am in the camp that more steps can be taken to improve the wellbeing of the two generations.2015.4.18Some people think only best students should be rewarded, others think they should reward students who make progress. It is universally believedthat providing students with many rewards is an effective way to improve academic performance. Although some would argue that only those top students are eligible to receive these rewards, I am in the camp that anyone who makes progress should be rewarded as well.Firstly, advocates believe that it is reasonable to offer prizes to thehigh-level performers.Thisis because one needs to pay a great amount of effort than other classmates in order to earn a highgrade in the exam. In addition, top performers normally act as a facilitator to encourage otherstudents to work harder and they can create a competitive learning setting in the school. However, rewarding top players merely is likely to result in some undesirable results in some occasions. The reason is that those best students are relatively few in the class. If we only pay attention to those fewhigh-level learners and ignore the rest of the students, the enthusiasm for study might be reduced. Some opponents, therefore, feel that it is necessary for teachers to give certain awards to those who put forward reasonable efforts in study. The extrinsic reward provided to them is not only a recognition of their former performance, but also a motivator for further study since a sense of accomplishment can boost their confidence and help them become thehigh-level students eventually. In conclusion,my view is that both types of students should be rewarded, which is beneficial for the learning environment in the campus.2015.4.25Young people who commit crimes should be treated in the same way as adults by authorities. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is sometimes argued that young lawbreakers should be tried as adults for crimes. I personally believe that this is partly reasonable. On the one hand, those who participate in violent crimes should not be treated differently than adult offenders. This is because most crimes, such as rape or murder, are thoughtful, deliberate and cunning in its planning and execution. If our courts trend toward amore lenient position, then the related laws and punishment will not have a deterring effect on teenagers. As a result, teenagers are likely to commit horrible crimes since they are aware that they have legal protection. What’s worse, these teens might recommit after they are released from jails. In some cases, the lighter sentencing might also lead to resentment towards the judicial system as victims might argue that these young offenders do not confess what they have done. This could also result in insecurity in our society eventually. On the other hand, the circumstances of a crime and its motivation should be taken into consideration when it comes to juvenile delinquency. For example, because of distress and hunger, some teens may turn to stealing food or robbery during a period of famine. Under this circumstance, harsh punishment, such as long-term jail might not be the best solution. In my view, most of the young offenders lack parenting and self-discipline, which would mean that other alternatives, such as community service and rehabilitation might be better alternatives for them.In conclusion, I feel that it is vitally important for judges and state legislators to ensure the justice equality regardless of the criminal’s age.2015.4.30In some countries, more and more adults are continuing to live with their parents even after they have completed education and found jobs. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?Sample Answer:Nowadays, an increasing number of adults choose to live with their parents after finishing their academic tasks and finding jobs. The overall effect of this phenomenon is negative, although the younger generation can get much help from their parents. It is widely acknowledged that living with parents contributes to relieve young adults’ strainsand stresses. They bear great pressure from their work and study, and are not willing to adapt to an independent life. The parents, especially the retired adults, are always ready to prepare everything for their children, helping them to concentrate on their work. In addition, young people can learn much experience from their parents who are more experienced in dealing with interpersonal relationships and career development. As a new comer in the working arena, the young generation are too naïve to manage their various challenges. Undoubtedly, it is of great value for them to live with their parents. On the other hand, continuing to live with parents will unavoidably cause some conflicts.Growing up in two different times, the views and lifestyles between these two generations are less likely to be the same. With the passage of time, the family bond will be alienated. What’s worse, if the adults lead a life with parents for a long time, they are particularly likely to have a sentimental attachment to their parents excessively. It will be increasingly difficult for them to start a new life when their parents cannot provide help any longer. It is detrimental for forming a new family in the future. When considering the effects of living with parents on young generation, we can concludethat this lifestyle is not universally suitable for every individual. As to most young people, they had better to live independently in order to keep a harmonious relation with parents and a balance between work and life.2015.5.9Developments of technology are causing environmental problems. Some people think the solution is that everyone accepts a simpler life, while others believe that technology can solve these problems. Discuss both views and give your opinion. There is no doubt that modern technology has caused a variety of environmental issues, both in cities and towns. Ironically, I feel that technology can address some of these problems but at the same time, personal effort is a must.Theoretically, addressing some environmental issues by adopting simple lifestyles is sensible. According to the statistics, during the last 100 years, the earth’s surface temperature hasrisendramatically because of human activities. Therefore, some people feel that the changes in our lifestyles can reverse this worrying trend. For example, the growing number of vehicles on the road emits a large quantity of green house gases, such as carbon dioxide, which will worsen the air quality. If residents chose other modes of transport, like buses or subways, this serious condition would be alleviated to a large extent. However, in my opinion, this policy would be very unpopular with some people, especially those living in the suburb, who do need to travel on roads. While it is undeniable that an individual’s behaviour has a profound effect on the environment, other people argue that the improvement in technology can tackle some problems in turn. For example, the technology today is available to produce electric cars that would be both quieter and cleaner to use. Persuading manufacturers and travellers to adopt this new technology would be a more effective strategy for improving air quality fundamentally. My own view is that apart from individual effort and environmental friendly technologies, we need to do more, such as introducing related laws and regulations. Environmental problems are so complex that each effort should be combined together to win the battle.2015.5.16To improve the quality of education, people think that we should encourage our students to evaluate and critics their teachers. Others believe that it will result in a loss of respect and discipline in the classroom. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.Nowadays, whether evaluating and criticising teachers should be supported in the classroomhas become a controversial issue. From my perspective, evaluation and criticism of teachers are necessary for the improvement of education if they are objective and reasonable. On the one hand, proposing changes to teachers’ lesson content contributes to the improvement of teaching quality. Usually, it is difficult for teachers to realise the mistakes and slips in their teaching unless students remind them. Additionally, teachers may not clearly know what students have known and want to know when planning their lessons. If students can put forward their ideas and suggestions towards the lesson, it will be of great help for teachers to upgrade the teaching projects. Moreover, trying to evaluate teachers’ lesson is particularly beneficial for students’ academic and career development in the future. The modern education emphasises criticism and innovation. Undoubtedly, it is an effective way for students to debate or discuss with teachers. On the other hand, the disruptive students will probably disturb the class and negatively affect both teaching and learning outcomes. When students voice their opinions in the classroom, it will be hard to maintain the order and discipline and the teachers may feel disrespected. Also, students will suffer a loss in terms of knowledge and other learning content. This is because teachers always devote much to delivering knowledge and explaining theories. If they aredisrupted, the teaching plan may not be able to be fulfilled. As a result, both teachers and students have to face a loss in the quality of education. To sum up, it can be recommended that students evaluate and criticise teachers in the classroom on the premise that they have decent manners without disturbing the learning atmosphere. Only in this way will teachers and students achieve a win-win outcome in education.2015.5.21In some countries around the world men and women are having children late in life. What are the reasons for this development? What are the effects on the society and family life?Sample Answer:In the modern world, young adults prefer to raise children late in their life. This essay will mainly analysethe potential reasons and how it will affect society and family life as well. There are three main factors contributing to the postponed parenthood. In general, people who bear great pressure from their work are less likely to prepare childbirth early, considering that they may have little time to attend their children. This problem can also beattributed to the high cost of modern life. The young people without adequate savings will probably be afraid of high living cost and expensive tuition. Another reason for this is the difficulty in balancing work and life. More young people emphasise the promotion in career, and thus spare little time for a stable marriage life which is viewed as a significant element for rearing children. It cannot be denied that late childbirthis able to provide more time for young couples to be ready for the new members in their families. They need to learn how to raise children before they decide to have children. In addition, if they delay childbirth, they can provide more economic support for children’s rearing and education. However, the low birthrate will cause an increase in ageing population. It is widely known that most medical needs and costs occur in the last years of life. Therefore, young people have to face the need to care for the elderly family members. From the perspective of the society, due to a shift in the age structure of the workforce, an ageing society with a low birthrate is likely to encounterlabour shortage. To summarise, the delay in having children is mainly attributed to the stresses and strains men and women bear in both their life and work. Although this may help them better prepare for their children’s development, the negative effects on both society and family life can not be ignored.2015.5.30In some countries, people believe that international tourism is a bad thing for their country. What are the reasons for this? How to change their views?Travelling abroad has become anew lifestyle nowadays. However, complaints about the potentialnegative effects of internationaltravel have been sparkedamong thepublic in recent years. This essaywill outline two main reasons forthese complaints and providecertain measures to change theopinion.First of all, it is a widespread phenomenon that foreign travellersmight repel the local community because of their inappropriate languages and behaviour in some resorts. Due to the cultural differences, visitors’behavior may break traditional rules in t ravel destinations sometimes. For example, a visitor will annoy anIndian when he passes food by his left hand. For this reason, the local government can take actions to provide more specifictravelling tips in popular scene spots for foreign travellers. In addition, more and more transnational travels will cause damage to the unique nature of a culture. Foreign visitors will bring not only tangible matters like food and clothes but also something intangible, such as their festivals or customs. In other words, these visitors are assimilating their country’s culture while they are travelling abroad, which will be bound to cause antipathy in racist society. Germany is a case in point. For this reason, the government can encourage locals to hold a tolerant attitude toward foreign arrivals as they have no common knowledge of local conventions in most times. Travelling is for cultural communication instead of invasion. In conclusion, breaking conventions and cultural uniqueness are the two main factors leading to the bias regarding international tourism. Both governments and individuals should m2015.6.6Some people prefer to provide help and support dierctly to those in their local community who need it.Others, however prefer to give money to national and international charitable organizations. Discuss both views and give your opinion.SAMPLE:Although people inindustrialised countries lead a high standard of living, it is undeniable that there are still 1.2 billion people living below the poverty line. In order to solve poverty-related problems, I feel that all kinds of help should be encouraged and respected.Giving a helping hand to those who are in need in the local community seems reasonable. It is because even in the richest countries, there are still a lot of people, such as disabled peopleand orphanages, suffering from famine and extreme poverty. International aids can also purchase vaccines which are available in developed countries by using the money raised worldwide and save millions childr en’s life.In my view, minor proportion of donated money and other sorts of help should be appreciated equally as long as the money reaches to those who need it desperately. The government could run campaign and encourage door-to door help. At the same time, charitable organisations should make every penny count for donors.2015.6.13Traffic and accomodation problems are increasing and government should encourage some business to move from cities to rural areas. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? It is sometimes argued that some business should be removed from cities to rural areas. Personally, I believe thishas more benefits than drawbacks.Firstly, suburbs usually have better surroundings than urban areas. This is because companies can provide their employees with a better office environment and livingcondition there, which would enhance employees’ enthusiasm for work. In addition, a comfortable office environment and living condition can decrease frequency oftalent-flowing and ensure companies’ development.Secondly, migrating some business to rural areas will make our cities a better place to live in. Large factory buildings will cover urban places extensively. If businesses relocate their factories to rural areas, these places can be used to build roads, parks, hospitals and other public facilities, and there might be less traffic jam in the rush hour. At the same time, governments can plant moregreenery to reduce air pollution. As a result, it provides citizens with better air quality, which is beneficial for their health. However, we have to admit that this policy still exist some disadvantages. Although moving some business torural areas can ease traffic problems, it will increase the cost of transportation for those who live in the remote areas. Besides, the ecosystem inrural areas is quite fragile, the。
