本课时通过Mike 和张鹏在博物馆里谈论恐龙的情景展开教学活动，在已有的单词句型基础上进行新对话的学习。
本节课作为本单元 A 部分的第一课时，其核心句型为：How tall is it? It’s ... How tall are you? I’m ... It’s/I’m ... than ... 学生通过学习感知上述核心句型的语义及语用情景，学会比较人或动物的外貌特征，富有很强的实用性和趣味性，也为本单元后面的教学提供了语言知识铺垫。
【学情分析】本节课的教学对象是六年级的学生，三年多的英语学习，帮助他们积累了比较丰富的词汇和句型。
他们能听懂有关话题的语段；能读懂简单的故事或小短文；能够根据提示，在有意义的情境中进行语言输出。
总体来说，多数学生对英语还保持着较高的热情，课堂上也乐于展现自己。
