【拓展】形容词形式为silent，意为“不说话的；沉默的”，在句中作定语或表语，常用于固定搭配keep silent中，表示“保持沉默”。

5.巧记单词
本单元我们来学习一个形容词后缀-y。

后缀-y可以加在某些名词之后，构成与该名词意思相关的形容词。

①某些名词在词尾直接加后缀-y可以变为相应的形容词，如health→healthy和本单元词汇表中的黑体词wind→windy等。

②如果名词以重读闭音节结尾，且词尾只有一个辅音字母，这时应双写词尾的辅音字母再加-y，如sun→sunny,fun→funny等。

③如果名词以不发音的e结尾，变为形容词时，应去掉e再加-y，如noise→noisy和本单元词汇表中的黑体词ice→icy等。
