Everyone needs entertainment to take his or her mind away from the boring chores of everyday life. Entertainment can be in the form of music, movies, plays and various other activities. The most common form of entertainment is movies, which are watched by people of all ages.
Movies are entertaining, but some movies can have a negative effect on their audience. Little children may watch animated movies (动画片) played by their favorite superheroes, who do supernatural things, or by some other characters they admire, like Mickey Mouse, who does all sorts of things that are not possible in real life. These movies can lead children into thinking that they too can do all these things.
Many young people like watching action movies, and the violence in these movies also has an effect on their minds. It makes them think more about violence and extremism, and may lead them into committing crimes and other acts that can hurt others. These young people may watch their favorite actors do other things that are disliked in society. Their favorite actors and characters may take drugs and smoke cigarettes in their movies, which negatively influences the young audience. They may begin smoking too, or they may think that smoking is “cool” or it will raise their social status.
Although some movies have a negative effect on their audience, others may have a positive effect too. There are many educational movies that are informative. These movies are very few in number compared to other movies that are not informative. These educational movies are not liked by young audience, so generally speaking movies have a bad influence on young people.

In 1964, Eady Rothstein was just a 5-year-old girl. One day she hanged out with her family to a beach near Long Island, New York. Suddenly, she fell into the water and nearly drowned. Fortunately, a 21-year-old lifeguard, Larry Brickman, saved her life. And now, NBC reports that nearly 50 years later Rothstein has tracked down the former lifeguard to thank him for rescuing her. “I always say I want to thank him, and I should do it,” Rothstein said.
After the 1964 rescue, Rothstein and Brickman fell out of contact. Rothstein started going online and looking for Brickman’s contact information after she found a reference to him in her family album by chance. After she found his phone number, the two were able to connect over the phone and plan to meet in person.
“My final words to her when I sent her to hospital were, ‘You know, I guess we just got very lucky, you and I both,’” Brickman told NBC. Brickman says his knowledge of CPR, w hich was rare at the time, was instrumental in the rescue. “If no one was there to do this, I’m afraid she would have died,” Brickman said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 3,533 people drowned in the U.S. from 2005 to 2009. That means about 700 people per year drowned. But that number was much higher in previous decades before CPR and other life-saving medical methods became more readily available. “The best man in the whole tribe (部落) is Manute the brave”, everyone would say. You could see for yourself, at any time of the day, just how brave he was. He would jump to the ground from amazing heights; he would fight poisonous snakes... They said the exact opposite about Pontoma. No one had seen him catch even a monkey.
One day, they happened upon each other in the forest. It began to rain, so they both ran to shelter under some thick foliage (枝叶). However, when they were about to leave the shelter, they heard the roar (吼叫) of a tiger at a distance of only a couple of meters. The foliage was very thick, and the tiger wouldn’t be able to get through to attack them. Manute was getting restless. He wanted to get out and face the tiger in open space, where he could fully use his great hunting skills. Pontoma was gesturing at him to keep still and be quiet, but Manute went out, surprising (奇袭) the tiger. The tiger suffered a couple of deep wounds, but soon recovered. The tiger hurt Manute with its paws, throwing him to the ground. It leapt upon Manute, but Manute’s spear (长矛), in the hands of Pontoma, stopped the tiger’s attack. T he spear moved as fast as light and hurt the animal again and again, until it fell to the ground, lifeless.
Manute witnessed all this while lying flat on his back on the ground. Never before had he seen anyone fight a tiger, and use the spear with such calmness and strength, as he had seen Pontoma do just now. Neither of them said anything. Manute’s grateful expression needed no words to be understood. From that day on, people gradually talked less about Manute’s braveness. They thought maybe he was less co urageous than before. But Manute just smiled and remembered the day when he learned that true bravery lay not in seeking out danger, but in controlling one’s fear when danger crosses your path.

15. What happened to Manute after the accident?
