Spring Festival is my favorite holiday. It is the most important traditional festival in China, also known as Chinese New Year. It falls on the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar, usually in late January or early February.
During the Spring Festival, families gather together to celebrate and enjoy various traditional activities. We clean our houses to sweep away bad luck and make way for good fortune. We also decorate our homes with red lanterns, couplets, and Chinese knots to bring in happiness and prosperity.
One of my favorite parts of the Spring Festival is the food. We have a big reunion dinner on the eve of the festival, where we eat delicious dishes such as dumplings, fish, and niangao (New Year cake). We also exchange red envelopes filled with money, known as "hongbao," as a symbol of good luck.
Another highlight of the Spring Festival is the fireworks. We set off fireworks and firecrackers to ward off evil spirits and bring in the New Year with a bang. The colorful lights and loud sounds create a festive atmosphere that is both exhilarating and unforgettable.
Overall, the Spring Festival is a time of joy, reunion, and blessings. I love the warm atmosphere, the delicious food, and the fun traditions that make this holiday so special.
