Sample
It’s very hard for college graduates to find a job, of course harder to get an ideal job. In fact, ma ny factors contribute to the unfavorable situation.
First, more and more students can go to college because of the being fast improved high education of China. As a result, there are more graduates every year. However, job vacancies don’t increase that fast. More people, less food, which is the exact description of the hard condition. Second, more and more people go on to pursue their master and doctor degree; more and more Chinese oversea students come back to China to hunt better working chances. It is sure that the competition is more and more f ierce. Third, because of the fast development of science, technology, economy, society and the interchan ge of different nations, all units have higher requirement of their employees, for example, stronger abilit y and higher degree.
In addition to the factors above, there are still more which bring hardship for graduates to find job s. Nevertheless, how to solve the problem is more important. It is a good idea for the graduates to lea rn more knowledge with a higher degree and to practice and improve their capability of dealing with a ll kinds of situation, organization, having good terms with others and cooperative spirit. Besides, the go vernment should try to and encourage all units to create more job vacancies for the college graduates. Of course, the graduates should have a proper attitude towards various jobs, but not always pursue thos e with higher payment.
(2)My View on Job-hopping(换工作)
Outline: 1. 有些人喜欢始终从事一种工作,因为…….
2.有些人喜欢经常换工作,因为…..
3.我的看法
People's opinions are always different when they talk about job-hopping. Those who never change t heir job throughout their life maintain that they have accumulated enough experience to work smoothly and efficiently, so what's the point in changing it and taking another job? They also firmly believe that anyone who wants to excel in his specialty has to work hard on the same post for years to acquire t he required skill and knowledge.
However, many others hold just the opposite view. On the one hand, they believe that if the prese nt job can offer neither satisfactory working conditions nor future opportunities, they will not hesitate a moment to leave. On the other hand, they hold that life is but once and job-hopping can provide rich and exciting experiences.
My own opinion is that job-hopping, in this fast-changing era of information, has become more tha n common and acceptable. If we want to keep pace with the times, we have to change for the faster, t he higher and the stronger. If life is a journey, we have nothing to regret so long as we put meaning into it. So why not make a change?
(3)Choosing a Career (择业)
Outline: 1. 择业是每个青年人都要面临的问题。

2. 择业的标准是什么。

3. 我们应持的态度。

Choosing career is a problem that every youth must be faced. First of all, when a person has gro wn up, he has to decide which field he will go into so that he can earn enough money and support hi mself. Besides, with so many people rushing into the city from the coun¬try, there are fewer and fewer job opportunities available and it is becoming increasingly difficult for one to find a suitable job.
There are many factors to be considered when one is choosing a career. One factor is that a youn g man has to find a job that will bring him a good income for a comfortable life. Interest is another f actor. The job should be interesting and motivating. Finally, one should find a job that suits his talent, so that he can make full use of his potential.
But what preparations should a young man make in order to choose a good job? One must first o f all be serious about this matter be¬cause it will have an influence on his whole life. Then, to meet t he requirements of demanding jobs, one needs to have certain qualifica¬tions. It is therefore essential fo r him to acquire basic knowledge and skills.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write a letter. Suppose you are Peter. Write a letter to your friend Li Dawei. You should write at least 120 words according to the situation given below in Chinese:
假设你的好朋友李大伟是大学四年级学生,正在考虑是考研究生继续深造、还是大学毕业后就踏上工作岗位。

请你给她写封信表明你的态度。

June, 2003
Dear Dawei,
I understand that you are in a dilemma. Although so many gradu¬ates are eager to set feet on the ir work-life road, there are still some who prefer to start their new life after gaining another degree to make better preparation for entering society. In my opinion, the latter are more admirable. You are goo d at all your courses these years, so if you do like to spend another two or three years on cam¬pus, y ou should stick to it. In today's society, the achievement and status you can get and the devotion you can make are no doubt in proportion to your educational background and degrees, coupled with the eff
orts you put in them. If you want to stride to your destina¬tions more smoothly and easily, why not h ead for the further study courageously?
Whichever you choose, I firmly believe your industry will en¬sure your success. After all, it is yo u who have the final say on the final choice.
Best wishes.
Yours sincerely Peter
(5)“College Graduates Work as Village Officials”. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below in Chinese: Remember to write it neatly. (当村官)
1. 现在许多大学毕业生愿意到农村当村官。

2,分析形成这种现象的原因。

3.你的看法。

In recent years being a village official has become the first choice of many college students when they graduate and are trying to find a job. According to a report carried by The Chinese Education D aily the number of students who apply for the post increases at the annual rate of 20 percent in recent five years, which well justifies the popularity of becoming a village official among college students.
Several factors may account for this popularity. First, it is the fierce competition of job market tha t forces the college graduates to consider other alternatives other than staying in the big cities as they used to. Secondly, to encourage well-educated young talents to work in the rural areas, the government authorities have made some policies offering major incentives to college graduates who are willing to work for rural governments at grassroots level, especially for village committees. For example, those wh o work for a rural committee for at least three years after graduation can get a 10-point credit in their
exams to enter graduate schools. The preferential treatment is appealing to many students. Last but not least, many students consider working as a village official is a rewarding opportunity. It will acquaint themselves with the very society of our country as well as improve their adaptability to different circu mstances, both of which are believed to be beneficial to their future career.
In my opinion, college students working as a village official is worth promoting. It is possible that some graduates may use the job as “spring boards”: on ly applying for it in order to receive the favor able treatment, but the majority of them genuinely hope to serve the rural areas and better the life of t he villagers. With the participation of so many college graduates, we have reasons to believe that it wil l not take too long to realize the blueprint of Constructing New Village.。
