Perhaps the most important thing you do in school days is to learn how to learn. This is very important because you are not always going to be at school, and yet you are going to want to continue learning things after your school days are over.
Different people learn things by using different strategies. For example, some people increase their vocabulary in a foreign language by reading a lot. Other people gain new words by making vocabulary lists and learning the words on them by heart.
Whichever way you learn, you will never again learn so much so fast as you did when you were a child at school. This is because a child is very open to
learning. A child accepts new concepts without questioning them.
A short while ago I went to a lecture where both children and adults were
present. The lecturer did an experiment to show the audience how children were
smarter than adults, and much faster at understanding new ideas. Just before the
coffee break, the lecturer put the same symbols (see left) up on the board, and told
us he was going to give us a 15 – minute coffee break to discover which should be
the next symbol in the series.
Immediately, a child from the eighth grade jumped up and ran to the board.
She didn’t need the coffee break. In less than 30 seconds she had solved the puzzle.
All the adults present were amazed. Even when the new symbol was on the board,
we adults couldn’t understand how it fitted into the series. Most of the children did!
58. The writer mainly wants to tell us ________ in this passage.
A. different people learn in different ways
B. an interesting experiment during a lecture
C. the fast ways of learning a foreign language
D. the importance of learning how to learn at school
59. According to the writer, children learn new things very fast because ________.
A. they usually study in a smarter way than adults
B. vocabulary lists can help them learn new words
C. it’s easy for them to accept new ideas and concepts
D. they remember what they learn quickly by reading a lot
60. The lecturer showed how open children’s minds are to new concepts by ________.
A. putting a puzzle on the board
B. giving a 15 – minute coffee break
C. asking a child to run to the board
D. making all the adults present amazed
61. What can be the new symbol written by the child from the eighth grade? ________
A B C D
(D)
Did you take an “e-mail 101”class before getting your e-mail account? Probably not. No training is required to get an e-mail account these days. Mary e-mail users get started without really knowing how to use the technology properly.
Unfortunately, this lack of e-mail know-how leads to a large list of problems. Chain letters
clog(堵塞)mailboxes. And for a variety of reasons, we’re often unable to send or receive messages. Wouldn’t e-mail be much easier to use if everyone followed a few simple guidelines? Yes, indeed!
Let’s learn what you can do to make e-mailing more enjoyable for everyone.
☆Guideline1. Think twice before sending messages with huge attachments(附件).
Large attachments can clog people’s mailboxes, exceeding storage capacity(容量). Mailboxes have size limits and often get so full that they cannot receive more messages.
It’s fun if your friend e-mails a dancing cat video to everyone in your class. It’s not fun if you don’t get that important e-mail from your teacher because you mailbox is full. Be careful when sending photos, videos or other large attachments.
☆Guideline2. Don’t forward chain letters.
Does everyone on your mailing list really want to read that romantic poem someone just e-mailed to you? Probably not! Chain letters don’t serve much purpose besides costing readers time and mailbox space.
If you want to show kindness to a friend, write them a short personal e-mail. Personal greetings move people more than funny messages written by strangers.
☆Guideline3. Don’t forward personal e-mails without first asking the author.
If someone wrote you a personal letter on paper, you’d hesitate before showing it to everyone. The same rule should relate to e-mail, also. Try to be polite to your friends. Don’t forward their personal e-mails without asking permission first.
☆Guideline 4. Clean out your own mailbox regularly.
Make sure there’s empty space in your mailbox, so new messages can come in. Otherwise, you might be wondering why that important message never came.
OK, students, e-mail class is dismissed. Good day and happy e-mailing!
62. The underlined word exceeding probable means _________.
A. making up
B. going beyond
C. enlarging
D. reducing
63. Which of the following pictures shows us the main idea of Guideline 2?
A B C D
64. According to the passage, we _________ when using e-mails.
A. should send chain letters to our friends
B. shouldn’t send our friends’ e-mails to others
C. should form a habit of emptying out mailboxes
D. shouldn’t receive e-mails with huge attachments
65. What can we learn from the “e-mail 101 class”?
A. How to use e-mails properly.
B. How to get an e-mail account.
C. How to clean out the mailbox.
D. How to send e-mails to friends.

In addition, many educational programs make it easy for people of different levels to learn more on all subjects. So all of can benefit from watching TV.
However, 25% of the people think there are so many advertisements on TV, which waste people lots of time. Besides, some teenagers are addicted to some programs which have bad effect
on them.
