CL524 $2858
State-of-the-art graphic display for the simultaneous indication of measured and simulated values (with large, easy-to-read digits), and messages related to engineering units, types of sensor or signal, temperature scales, RJ mode and battery level.
User-friendly design with menu-driven procedures and in-line “Help” key for immediate (and relevant) instructions. Optional set of intelligent temperature and pressure modules for sensor calibration and certification PERFORMANCE
The CL524 indicator-simulator is a high-accuracy, multifunction instrument, with two insulated, independent channels, designed to meet the needs of instrumentation engineers, in both laboratory and field work.
Measuring and Simulating Functions:
Both Channel 1 (Out) and Channel 2 (In) have the following operative mode capabilities:
• Millivolts
• Volts
• Milliamperes (active and passive loop)• Ohms
• Temperature with Thermocouples • Temperature with Resistance Thermometers
• Frequency
• Pulse
Remote auxiliary inputs are available for • Relative Humidity and Temperature The CL524 calibrator has been developed using the most advanced
A/D conversion and a fast, powerful
32-bit microprocessor to provide high accuracy through extended ranges and powerful operational flexibility. The firmware is stored in a flash memory to allow future upgrading directly from serial interface using a floppy disk in a personal computer. The ergonomic case design allows the use of the instrument in three different ways:
PORTABLE
Two different leather cases, with cover and shoulder strap, are available on request, for the instrument alone or for the instrument with printer and accessories. These are extremely practical, since they leave one hand free for operating the instrument under test conditions.
PANEL MOUNTING
Requires a panel cutout of 242 x 88 mm (9.5 x 3.5"). The instrument bezel flange abuts the front of the mounting plate; two lateral mounting brackets fit over the rear panel.
TABLE TOP
The case is equipped with two pivoting feet to change the vertical viewing angle when using the instrument on the top of a table, desk, or workbench.

GENERAL FEATURES
Innovative Design
The CL524 calibrator uses innovative electronics based on a powerful 32-bit microprocessor and sophisticated high stability, low level, thermal emf-free analog circuitry. Flash memory allows firmware updating through serial interface & modem. The CL525 incorporates a real-time clock, PCMCIA memory card and improved performance.“Help” Key
The operative set-up mode is simplified by a sequence of menu pages that require only <Select> and <Enter> instructions. A complete Instruction Manual is stored in memory for instant on-site use by the operator. Relevant instructions are accessed by using the <Help> key.
Keyboard and Display
Both the CL524 and CL525 come with a thermoformed metal-click polycarbonate membrane keyboard. The setting of the simulation signal value uses a unique
in-line single-digit setting mode or a direct numeric entry mode. The high contrast LCD graphic display, equipped with a backlight device, allows easy reading, even in poor light conditions.
A backlight auto power-off mode is installed to extend battery life. The graphic display allows a simultaneous indication of the measured and simulated values (in large digits), together with messages related to engineering units, types of sensor or signal, temperature scales, cold junction selection and battery level. A swap feature is installed to change the position of the IN and OUT parameters on the display.
Digital Interface
The CL524 and CL525 calibrators feature full bi-directional TTL level digital interfaces for communication with computerized systems.
Firmware
Firmware includes the following capabilities:
• Multiple Measurement and Generation Mode
• Signal Processing: Filter,
Average, Min, Max
• Downloadable Test Procedure
• Data Acquisition
• Switch Test Routine
• Ramping and Stepping for
Dynamic Testing
• User Definable Linearization
• User Entry of Probe-Specific Calibration Coefficients
Scale Factor - Square Root
All non-temperature ranges are fully programmable to read both measured and output values in selected engineering units. Four programmable
alphanumeric characters are available on the display to show the symbol and
unit of measurement (i.e., mbar, % RH,
% CO, etc.). mA readings and output
can be related to flow when using a ∆P
transmitter across a calibrated flange.
RJ Compensation
OMEGA’s calibrators feature accurate
and fast response compensation,
through a special low thermal capacity
design of binding posts which
incorporates thin-film high-accuracy
Pt100. The cold junction temperature is
directly displayed.
Transmitter Simulation
The CL524 can be connected to system
inputs to simulate 4-20 mA transmitters.
It has power sufficient to drive 20 mA
into a load of 1000 Ωin the source
mode. For fast loop checks,
preprogrammed steps can be recalled
to output 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 mA or %
equivalent. Since the instrument has
two separate channels, it is possible to
read the error directly in % (In/Out). The
operator can set and change
temperature values while obtaining the
equivalent output mA. The mA mode
may be connected directly either on
passive or on active loops.
Frequency – Counts
The “Out” mode is designed to generate
zero-based square pulse, with an
adjustable amplitude, at a frequency up to
20 kHz. A preset number of pulses may
be programmed and transmitted to test or
calibrate totalizers and counters. The
instrument can be configured to measure
frequency and count pulse (totalizer
mode). Technical units in Hz, pulse/h and
pulse/m. The threshold is adjustable from
0 to 20 V with 0.01 V resolution.
Calculated Readings
The CL520 series permits measurement
of unstable input signals through a
programmable averaging or min/max
identification. A “hold” function is also
included for keyboard or external contact
instructions.
Programmable Signal Converter
The instrument can be used as a
temporary signal converter replacement.
Any input signal (including remote
auxiliary inputs) can be converted into
any of the available output signals while
maintaining full galvanic insulation.
4-Wire Resistance Thermometer
Although resistance and temperature
may be measured with a resistance
thermometer on a 2- or 3-wire
connection, the instrument is
designed also for 4-wire measurements
with a resolution as low as 0.1°C or
K and 0.1°F.
Remote Temperature Probe
A high-accuracy probe is available on
request for general purpose
temperature measurement and/or
remote cold junction compensation.
Graphic Mode
This feature allows the operator to
obtain a real-time graph of any
measured parameter. The input data
are memory stored, and the actual
values, keyed to the time of observation,
can be digitally displayed using the
cursor key.
Power Supply
Both the CL524 and CL525 have a dual power supply, with both an external charger circuit and an internal rechargeable battery. The instrument can operate off of line voltage continuously without removing the battery.
Simulation Capability
Our calibrators feature a menu-driven set-up that generates:
• Continuous or step ramp output;
• Continuous programmable cycle rises, soaks, falls;
• Signal value setting uses either a unique in-line single-digit setting mode or a direct numeric entry
• Direct keyboard access to 20 programmable memory-stored values.
Report of Calibration
Each instrument is factory calibrated to NIST to ensure traceability, and shipped with a Report of Calibration stating the nominal and actual values and the deviation errors.
Temperature Calibration Modules
An optional set of temperature modules is available for temperatures ranging from
-30 to 125°C (-22 to 258°F) and from ambient up to 600°C (1112°F). These intelligent
modules can be equipped with a multisensor input scanner and fully automatic calibration
and switch test procedures.
One-hand-free operation
Each unit comes complete with: operator’s manual, and NIST report of calibration.†
CL525comes with options RTC and RSN standard.
Ordering Example:CL524-CPS-RSN, 2-channel multifunction calibrator, software and non-isolated RS-232 communications, $2858 + 278+ 87 = $3223.
OCW-3,OMEGACARE SM extends standard 1-year warranty to a total of 4 years, ($350), $2858 + 350 = $3208.
