1. 教材分析
本单元以“学校生活”为话题,通过单元学习,学生将获得不同国家的学校生活的具体信息,阅读并学习不同类型学校的不同学习和生活方式。
1.1在Wele to the unit部分先介绍了英英与美英中一些同意不同形的词汇.
1.2 在Reading部分则介绍了英国和美国两种不同的学校生活。
1.3 Vocabulary部分介绍了一些常用的课程名词以及与之相关的简单的评论性形容词,对各个课程发表不同意见,给学生更加自如地谈论各种课程提供了词汇和常识基础。
1.4 Grammar部分,不定限定词many/much,few,little的比较级more, fewer, less 和最高级most, fewest, least的引入使学生更加灵活地描述不同的学校生活。
在这一部分,学生还将学到如何在可数和不可数名词前熟练运用以上不定限定词的比较级和最高级;运用“the same as”和“different from”谈论不同学校学生的不同生活方式。
1.5 Integrated skills部分则是对前面所学知识的一个综合,要求学生在掌握不同的学校的生活后,能流利而准确地讨论不同学校的学生学习情况。
1.6 Pronunciation则介绍了在表达惊讶感情时,句子读法上的升调和降调的用法和作用,使学生通过比较标准的语音语调来表达出正确的感情。
1.7 Main task的问卷调查部分则与现实生活更加紧密地联系起来,对学生提出了更高的要求,要求学生能看懂并正确填写问卷、能清晰写出自己的理想的学校生活,从而实现了本单元的教学目标。
1.8 Checkout部分则对比较级,最高级,同级比较结构、课程名称进行了复习,要求学生从词汇知识和语言应用能力两方面进行自我评价,检验对本单元目标语言的掌握程度。

Step IWarm-up (presentation)
1. Talk with Ss freely about their daily life in school. Let them list a timetable of their one-day life in school.
1) When do you go to school every day?
2) How many courses do you have in all? What are they?
3) Which subject do you like best? Why?
4) What do you do after class?
5) If you have the chance to go to Britain or America for study, which country would you like to choose?
Step IImon knowledge
T: If you want to go to these two countries, first, you should get familiar with their culture. For example, although people in both Britain and the USA speak English, sometimes they use different words which mean the same thing. Now I’d like to give you some British English and American English, please try to match them by the same meaning.

Explanation
T: Before we math the words, there are some new words. First let's discuss the meanings of them.
S1: What’s the meaning of the 3rd word in British English?
T: OK. I show you one picture of it. Can you guess?
S2: I think the Chinese meaning of it is “电梯”.
T: That’s right. It mentions a lifting device which can move people from one floor to another in a building.
After discussion of the new words, match the words one by one.

Step III Practice
T: Now after we get to know some different words in BrE and AmE, let’s do more practice. Let’s see which words are also different used in these two countries. Now please open your books and turn to page 23, please finish Part B.
Step IV Listening
T: We have learnt both British and America people sometimes use different words which mean the same meaning, so besides the difference of vocabulary, how about the school life in these countries? Are they quite different or do they still have some mon points? Now let’s go to learn them through two students, one is a British boy John; the other is an America girl, Nancy. Let’s listen to their introduction of their school, during your listening, please consider following questions. Show the questions on the screen.

Play the recording for the first time, students just listen.
Play it for a second time, ask students to give the answers.

S2: John’s school has a Reading Week every Week.
T: That’s Right. And what does Nancy do every Monday?
S3: She goes to a ‘buddy club’ every Monday.
T: Very Good.

T: Both John and Nancy has introduced their school life, it seems very interesting. Each school has its special course and activity. Now could you list the subjects, activities and hobby group you have in the school.
S1: We studies Chinese, Math, English, History, PE and so on.
T: OK. Do you join any clubs or hobby groups?
S2: Yes. I join the singing club. There are singing, dancing, drawing, art hobby group in the school.

T: Suppose you have the chance to go America for study, which club do you most want to join?

T: Introduce the club your want to join to your partner and tell the reason. Give the Ss three to five minutes to discuss in pairs.
S1: Which club would you like to join?
S2: I’d like to join buddy club.

S2: Because I can make a lot of friends there. And I also can learn a lot from them. Ask some pairs to act their dialogues out.
