22.(8分)Slowly, so slowly that we never even noticed how it happened, our family stopped talking to each other. Our own worlds opened up to us through the computer or the cell phone or the CD player.
Family Night was born when Mom called us for dinner. Jessica and I came and sat down. Dad loaded his plate and started to rise from the table.
“Where are you going?” Mom questioned.
“To the living room. I have some work,” Dad replied as he hurried away. Mom’s face go t tight, but she said nothing. About two minutes later, my cell phone buzzed. Jessica kept her earphones on during most of the meal. Mom was clearly upset.
Family Night started the next week. Mom established three rules: no phones, no music, and no leaving the table.
Everyone would eat together and play a game together “like a real family.”
All seemed to be going according to Mom’s plan until the first buzz of a cell phone. After dinner, we had been playing the board game for only ten minutes when another cell phone let out a shrill scream. This time the phone belonged to my father.
“Work’s calling. I have to answer,” he whispered as he hurried out of the room.
Mom sighed, but she forced a smile and encouraged us to continue with the game. We kept playing through every interruption afterwards: the beeping of Jessica’s phone, the buzz of another text message from Darnell, the soothing voice announcing the arrival of an e-mail on Dad’s computer. When the game was over, Mom released us to our rooms.
That first Family Night was not a success, but Mom soldiered on. Every Monday evening we silenced our electronics and gathered around the table; and each time, setting aside our technological toys became a little easier. The next two months my father would be taking b usiness trips. We wouldn’t be able to have Family Night every Monday.
To my surprise I realized that I would miss those few hours each week when the house was filled with my family’s laughter and conversation. I was also glad to know that when we really wanted to, we could silence the electronic buzz and just be a family again.

4、It can be inferred that ________.

B.the author enjoyed Family Night
C.Family Night would not continue
D.the children threw away the cellphones
23.(8分)The influence of America is increasing in my country. Spanish people drink Coca Cola, wear blue
jeans, watch Hollywood movies, listen to American music, and eat fast food, and they do these things every day.
I think that American movies are a good way to spread American culture because people are often influenced by what they see in the movies. Most of the programs and documentaries(记录片) we watch on TV are from America, and most of the movies we go to see are made in Hollywood.
In the last few years, the government has tried to protect the Spanish movies. Now, in our cinemas, at least twenty percent of the movies which are shown must be from Spain or from other countries in Europe.
American culture is a part of Spanish life now. It’s certain that many things from America are as much a part of pe ople’s lives as Spanish things. For example, Coca Cola is as familiar to everybody as any typical Spanish product. I’ve known about Coca Cola for my whole life.
However, it’s different with Western fast food. For example, I don’t think McDonald’s is as suc cessful in Spain as it is in other countries. In my opinion, one of the reasons may be the lifestyle of the Spanish people, The Spanish people normally eat at home.
On the other hand, maybe McDonald’s hamburgers will eventually replace the famous Spanish tapas. It’s true that in every city in Spain you can find a McDonald’s, and it is more popular among the Spanish children than among the adults. In any case, it’s obvious that American culture is becoming more and more a part of our lives every day.
1、From the first paragraph we can know that .
A.the influence of America on Spain can be found everywhere.
B.most Spanish people don’t like to listen to their own music,
C.fast food spreads from Spain to the United States.
D.some Spanish actors go to America to improve their acting skills.
2、What plays an important part in the spreading of American culture in Spain?
A.American novels. B.Hollywood movies.
C.McDonald. D.American music.
3、Why did the government set some rules for the films shown in Spain?
A.To protect foreign culture in Spain.
B.To earn more money from Spanish films.
C.To limit the number of foreign movie.
D.To unite European Communities.
4、What do you think Spanish tapas might be?
A.The name of a drink. B.The name of a restaurant.
C.A clothing brand. D.A certain kind of food.
24.(8分)Competition occurs naturally between living beings which co-exist in the same environment. In modern society there is a great deal of argument about competition. Some value it highly, believing that it is responsible for social progress and prosperity(繁荣). Others say that competition is bad ;that it sets one person against another ;that it leads to unfriendly relationship between people.
I have taught many children who held the belief that their self worth relied on how well they performed at tennis and other skills. For them playing well and winning are often life and death affairs. In their single minded pursuit(追求)of success, the development of many other human qualities is sadly forgotten.
However, while some seem to be lost in the desire to succeed, others take an opposite attitude. In a culture which values only the winner and pays no attention to the ordinary players, they strongly blame competition. Among the most vocal are youngsters who have suffered under competitive pressures from their parents or society.
Teaching these young people, I often observe in them a desire to fail. They seem to seek failure by not trying to win or achieve success. By not trying, they always have an excuse :”I may have lost, but it doesn’t matter because I really didn’t try.” What is not usually admitted by themselves is the belief that if they had really tried and lost, that would mean a lot. Such a loss would be a measure of their worth. Clearly, this belief is the same as that of the true competitors who try to prove them-selves. Both are based on the mistaken belief that one’s self respect relies on how well one performs in comparison with others. Both are afraid of not being valued. Only as this basic and often troublesome fear begins to dissolve (缓解) can we discover a new meaning in competition.
1、Which is the main point of this passage?
A.Competition is an interesting experience in one’s life.
B.Competition is helpful to set up self-respect.
C.Competition is harmful to personal quality development.
D.Different opinions about competition among people.
2、Why do some people value competition highly?
A.They think it makes nations become rich.
B.They think it helps to improve people’s abilities.
C.They think it has the duty to push society forward.
D.They think it makes nations more competitive.
3、What is the meaning of the underlined phrase “the most vocal” in Paragraph 3?
A.Those who strongly blame competition.
B.Those who value competition highly.
C.Those who want success very much.
D.Those who fail many times.
4、What can we know about competition?
A.It can determine one’s achievement.
B.Its winning should become a life-and-death matter.
C.It should be encouraged in all countries in the world.
D.It arises when a goal cannot be shared.
25.(10分)Ask any American what he/she is doing on Sunday, February 7 and the answer is likely to be either hosting or attending a Super Bowl Party. Played for the title of the National Football League Champion, Super Bowl is the most watched annual television program in the United States.
That's because Super Bowl which is celebrating its Golden Anniversary this year, is more than just a 60-minute football game—it is a well-designed production that features half-time performances, fireworks shows and television ads that people discuss for days.
But most important of all, it is the day to set aside all diets and enjoy foods one would normally avoid or at least not consume at the same time. It should, therefore, come as no surprise that Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest food consumption days in the U.S. — Second only to Thanksgiving.
The noshing will start early in the day, long before matches begin and continue long after the 2016 NFL Champions have retired to celebrate.
As a result, it is estimated that on Sunday, the nation will consume 1.2 million pounds of potato chips, 8.2 million pounds of tortilla chips, 3.8 million pounds of popcorn and 3 million pounds of nuts.
When the real hunger pains start to hit, they will seek out comfort foods. Not surprisingly, pizza tops the list. Chicken wings are also very popular. It is estimated that almost 1.3 billion wings will be consumed on Super Bowl Sunday. Other favorites include bacon, hot dogs and burgers.
But the food consumption is not without consequences. Data released indicates that antacid (解酸药) sales increase by 20% on the Monday following the big game. Additionally, over seven million Americans call in sick. It is no wonder that fans have been urging the government to declare Super Bowl Monday a holiday.
1、Why does Super Bowl become the most popular television program?
A.It is the longest football game.
B.It is hosted by famous film stars.
C.It contains the most wonderful ads.
D.It involves in various performances.
2、Which can replace the underlined wo rd “noshing” in Paragraph 4?
A.playing B.eating
C.competing D.resting
3、Which comfort food is consumed the most?
A.Hot dogs. B.Pizza.
C.Nuts. D.Chicken wings.
4、What bad result might Super Bowl Sunday lead to?
A.Lots of food is wasted.
B.Public disorder is caused.
C.Some people have an upset stomach.
D.Many people lose their work.

21、Most people realize that fast food isn't the healthiest or best-tasting cuisine(菜肴). It is, however, expected to be fast.
Many chains like McDonald's have struggled with slower food delivery in recent years, because there are more items on the menu. But the world's largest restaurant chain, which serves 68 million customers daily in 119 countries, is trying to change that.
For several months, McDonald's has been testing what's called the “justforyou experience”. In 200 U S restaurants (and more than 2,000 across the globe), customers are able to order directly from a self-serve kiosk(售货亭), af ter which an employee brings the meal directly to the table.
McDonald's chief executive Steve Easterbrook, speaking at a McDonald's i n New York's Tribeca neighbourhood on Thursday, said the company has long expected customers to adapt to its business model of ordering at the counter and then waiting to collect their own food. Now, he s aid, “We're adapting our business around customers.”
It showed that “test runs at more than 500 restaurants…showed an increase in foot traffic and contributed to a
mid-single-digit percentage increase in restaurant sales, lifting the 5 to 6 average check b y 1, on average.” Customer satisfaction scores also increased, “because families, in particular, appreciate having their food brought to them.”The company also announced the beginning of a new mobile order-and-pay app, which would allow customers to order and pay for food from their smart phones.
Mike, a common customer, said, “As a father of two small children, I'm every fastfood chain's target customer. My wife and I try to avoid McDonald's when possible, but like many parents we end up going.
