war horse 战马观后感PDF.pdf
The Shining Humanity in War HorseAn excellent movie does not win by its magnificent scenes or by its expensive cost of production, but by the humanity it reflects. The movie, war horse, directed by Steven Spielberg is just the masterpiece that reflects the shining humanity.“War Horse” beg an in rural England where a teen named Albert befriended, tamed, and trained a horse he named Joey after his father bought him in an auction. Because of the owing money of the landlord, they eventually sold the horse to a member of the British military to take part in World War I. As a result, Albert is depressed, and he promised he would find Joey and reunite with him some day, even if he has to enlist as a soldier himself. The film then followed Joey through various experiences depicting the death and devastation that the war brought – only we’re seeing it through a horse’s eyes. Yet everywhere Joey winds up, he finds someone with a kind heart who looks after him. This, to me, is the essence of the movie. At first, Joey was sold to Captain Nicholls, bur Albert was failed to join the army with Joey for he was too young to go tothe front. But Nicholls promised that he would take good care of Joey, and he draw a picture of Joey and sent it to Albert. Unfortunately, Nicholls died in battle and Joey was captured by the Germans along with his friend Topthorn. The head of the Germany army gave the order that all the horses should be killed. Luckily, with the intersession of two Germany brothers, they survived. Not wanting his younger brother to go to the front and die there, the elder brother took him away to France along with the two horses. But unfortunately, the two brothers were found by the army and were killed.Next morning, French girl Emilie surprised to find the two horses in her house. She and her grandpa tried their best to protect them even if their house was robbed, but eventually the two horses were still taken away by the Germany army. Again, Joey and Topthorn had to step onto the battlefield.Thankfully, the Germany hostler gave protection to the horses with all his forces, not wanting the excellent horses die from overwork, he changed another horse to drag the heavy cannon. When the Germany army was defeated, the kindhearted hostler let Joey go.Then, here comes to the climax of the film, which is also themost moving part. Joey tried to flee from the war, so he ran wildly on the battlefield. However, he charged through barbed wire barricades that completely entangle him and fell to the ground. In danger of dying from his wounds, he is trapped in “no man’s land” between the British and German trenches. Soldiers on both sides spot him, and are moved by the horse’s plight. A British soldier named Colin risked his life and tried to rescue Joey, but then he lamented that he did not bring along gloves or something to cut the wire. At that moment, a German soldier appeared behind him holding out a pair of wire cutters, saying, “I thought perhaps you might need these.” Whereupon, a historically significant moment came when the two sides ceased fire. Without the smoke of the war, everyone held his breath, waiting for the successful rescue. At that moment, the safety of Joey touched the heart of each and every soldier, and it felt like the world were all peaceful.Albert and Joey reunited in the military hospital as if by a miracle. The war came to the end, and according to the rules, Joey should be auctioned off again. Albert’s comrades pooled their money and encouraged Albert to buy Joe y back. Emilie’s grandpa bought Joey with a high price of one hundred poungs, but when he found that Albert is the real owner, he made thedifficult decision to give it back. When I was watching the movie, I always worried about the safety of Joey, but luckily, he survived after so many sufferings. His survival is owing to the valiant Captain Nicholls, the two young Germany soldiers, the lovely Franch girl Emilie and her grandpa, the warm-hearted hostler, also the kindhearted Colin and Peter. Joey was taken care and rescued time and again, which embodies the most precious thing of human beings, that is, the shining humanity. 。

war horse
In Devon, England, a boy called Albert Narracott watches the birth of a thoroughbred foal and watches with admiration the growth of the young horse, galloping through the fields at his mother's side. Much to the dismay of his mother, Rose, Albert's father, Ted, buys the colt at auction, despite a friend pointing out a more suitable plough horse for his farm. The desire to spite his landlord, Lyons and then retain his pride, being the apparent motivations for Ted to make higher and higher bids for the colt. The high cost of the horse means he is unable to pay rent to Lyons, who threatens to take possession of the farm if the money is not paid by the autumn. Ted promises to meet thedeadline, suggesting he could plough and plant a lower, rock-filled field with turnips. Albert names the horse Joey and devotes much time to training him. Albert's best friend, Andrew Easton, watches as Albert teaches his colt many things, such as to come when he imitates the call of an owl by blowing throughhis cupped hands.Ted, who has a bad leg from a war injury, is frequently shown drinking alcohol from a flask he carries. Rose shows Albert his father's medals from the Second Boer War in South Africa, where Ted served as a sergeant with the Imperial Yeomanry. Ted was severely wounded in action, and receivedthe Distinguished Conduct Medal for bravery under fire. She gives Albert his father's regimental pennant, telling Albert that his father is not proud of what he did during the war, and that he had thrown the flag and medals away, though Rose saved and kept them hidden.Albert trains Joey for the plough and, to his neighbours' astonishment, prepares a stony hillside field to plant with turnips. However a rainstorm destroys the turnip field, so to pay the overdue rent (and without telling Albert), Ted sells Joey to Captain Nicholls, a young cavalry officer, as World WarI breaks out. When Albert finds out he confronts the officer and begs for him not to take the horse. Nicholls promises he will take care of Joey as his own horse and hopefully will return him after the war. Albert tries to enlist in the army, but is too young. Before the captain leaves with Joey, Albert ties his father's pennant to Joey's bridle.Joey is trained for military operations and deployed to France with a flying column under the command of Captain Nicholls. Cavalry charges– once a major form of warfare are now hopelessly obsolete when faced with machine guns, as Captain Nicholls and his fellow cavalrymen discover after they charge through a German encampment. Nicholls is killed alongwith most of his fellow cavalrymen, and the Germans capture the horses.Joey becomes attached to Topthorn, a black horse with whom he trained for his military role. The two horses are used to pull an ambulance wagon driven by two German soldiers, Gunther, and his 14-year-old brother, Michael. Gunther gives the pennant to Michael as a good-luck "charm" when he is assigned to the German front, despite being too young to fight. Gunther ignores an order to remain behind and await call to a later position. Unable to persuade his brother to remain behind, Gunther rides Joey and brings Topthorn along on his escape so he and his brother can ride them to Italy, at this time still neutral. One night, German soldiers discover the absent without leave brothers hiding in a windmill and execute them by firing squad for desertion. After the two young Germans are shot, Emilie, a young French girl who lives at the farm with her grandfather, finds the two horses inside the windmill. Emilie suffers from brittle bones, and is not allowed to ride the horses for fear of falling. Later, German soldiers arrive and confiscate all food and supplies from the property; Emilie hides the horses in her bedroom to avoid them being taken by the Germans to fight. Emilie's grandfatherallows her to ride Joey on her birthday, and she gallops the horse up a hill, adjacent to the farm. When Emilie does not come immediately back, the Grandfather worriedly runs up the hill. On the other side of the hill, the Grandfather discovers that Emilie has run into the grasp of the German soldiers who wereat the farm earlier. The German soldiers take the horses, but the grandfather keeps the pennant.Joey and Topthorn are put to the task of pulling German heavy artillery, an exhausting task which kills horses quickly. The two horses are, however, put in the care of a German soldier who loves horses and who tries to help them survive. The story moves forward to 1918, where Albert has enlisted and is fighting alongside Andrew in the Second Battle of the Somme, under the command of Lyons's son, David. After a British charge into no-man's land, Albert, Andrew, and other British soldiers miraculously make it across into a deserted German trench, where a gas bomb explodes, filling the trench with the white chemical fumes of mustard gas.Meanwhile, Joey and Topthorn have survived years of hard service in the German army – much longer than most horses last – but Topthorn finally succumbs and dies from exhaustion, while Joey and the German private comfort him, pleading with him to not lie down where he'll be seen and subsequently shot. Cornered by an advancing tank Joey escapes and runsinto no-man's land where he gallops through the devastating destruction of the Somme and gets entangled in barbed wire. From their respective trenches both British and German soldiers spot Joey in the mist, although disbelieving at first that a horse could have survived the battle. Colin, a British Geordie soldier waving a white flag, crosses No Man's Land at Joey's side to try and coax him to the British side. Peter, a German soldierfrom Düsseldorf, comes over with wire cutters, and together they free Joey from the barbed wire. They flip a coin to decide who should take possession of the horse; Colin wins, guiding Joey back to the British trench, having formed a strange friendship with the soldier on the side he has been instructed to kill. The film shifts back to Albert's perspective, where Andrew has succumbed to the gas attack, but Albert has survived, temporarily blinded with bandages covering his eyes. He is recuperating at a British medical camp when Colin brings Joey in looking for a veterinary surgeon to heal the wounds from the barbed wire. Albert is told about the miracle horse rescued fromno-man's land. The army doctor instructs Sgt. Fry to put Joey down due to his injuries, but when Fry is about to shoot, the owl call he learned from Albert as a colt catches Joey's attention. Albert is led through the troops to Joey, again sounding his call, and Joey hurries to meet his long-lost friend. Albert explains he raised Joey, and his bandages still covering his eyes, gives an exact description of his horse's markings, confirming his claim. Joey is covered in mud, so the veterinary surgeon refuses to accept Albert's statement, but is quickly corrected when soldiers wash away the grime, revealing the four white socks and diamond blaze on Joey's forehead.Armistice brings the end of the war and Albert's eyesight is restored. He learns only officers' horses will be shipped home, while Joey and the others are to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The soldiers gather funds to help Albert buy Joey, but during a bidding war with a French butcher reaching 30 pounds, a bid of 100 pounds is entered without revealing who placed the bid. Approaching the auction ring is an older gentleman, Emilie's grandfather. No other bid is placed and he is shown taking ownership of Joey. The grandfather implies that Emilie has died, and after hearing about the miracle horse, hergrandfather walked three days to get Joey back for the sake of Emilie's memory.Albert pleads with Emilie's grandfather for the horse, but the old man remains stoic in his auction win. As the grandfather walks away, Joey breaks free and goes to Albert. As he watches the horse and the young English soldier, the grandfather pulls the military pennant from his pocket and asks Albert if it means anything to him. When Albert tells the old man that it belongs to his father, the grandfather has a change of heart. First he gives Albert the campaign pennant, then moments later gives him Joey, saying it is what Emilie would have wanted. In the end Albert rides Joey back to his family's farm, hugs his parents, and returns the pennant to his father.。
After watching the movie "War Horse," I was deeply moved by its captivating storyline and powerful emotional impact. Directed by Steven Spielberg, "War Horse" tells the tale of a young horse named Joey and his journey through the trials and tribulations of World War I. As I sat in the theater, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the beauty and poignancy of the story. The film begins by introducing us to Albert Narracott, a young farm boy who forms a special bond with Joey. As Albert tames the wild horse, their friendship grows stronger, and it becomes clear that Joey is no ordinary horse. Their relationship is tested when Joey is sold to the British army and sent to the front lines of the war. Separated from Albert, Joey must navigate the horrors of war, encountering both friend and foe along the way.One of the aspects that struck me most about the film was its incredible cinematography. The sweeping landscapes captured the essence of the English countryside, while the battle scenes were visceral and intense. Spielberg masterfully juxtaposed the tranquility of the farm with the chaos of the war, highlighting the stark contrast between the two.In addition to its breathtaking visuals, "War Horse" featured a remarkable ensemble cast. Jeremy Irvine portrayed Albert with a raw and earnest performance, capturing the character's unwavering determination and love for his horse. The film also boasted strong supporting performances from Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, and Tom Hiddleston, who brought depth and nuance to their respective roles. What struck me most about the film was its exploration of the human-animal bond. Through Joey's journey, we witness the power of love and loyalty, not only between humans and animals but also among people in times of adversity. The film serves as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, compassion and empathy can prevail. Moreover, "War Horse" delved into the futility and senselessness of war. As Joey moves from one owner to another, we see the devastating effects of conflict on both sides. The film does not shy away from depicting the harsh realities of war, highlighting the loss and sacrifice that many endured. It serves as a poignant reminder of the senselessness of violence and the human cost of conflict.Another aspect that impressed me was the film's score, composed by John Williams. The music perfectly complemented the emotional journey of the characters, enhancing the film's already powerful storytelling. The combination of visuals, performances, and music created a truly immersive experience.Overall, "War Horse" is a cinematic masterpiece that resonates long after the credits roll. Its beautiful cinematography, compelling performances, and poignant exploration of the human-animal bond make it a film that stays with you. Spielberg has brought to life a story that celebrates the power of love, loyalty, and the indomitable spirit of humanity. As I left the theater, I couldn't help but reflect on the impact that "War Horse" had on me. It reminded me of the importance of compassion, empathy, and the futility of war. The film serves as a powerful reminder ofour shared humanity and the need for understanding and unity in the face of adversity. In conclusion, "War Horse" is a must-watch film that leaves a lasting impression. Its universal themes and powerful storytelling transcend language barriers, making it a film that can be appreciated by audiences around the world. I highly recommend experiencing the emotional journey of "War Horse" and allowing its message to resonate within your heart.。

War Horse
The movie War Horse, whose theme was about opposing wars, was a huge success. It told of the harm wars brought to people through the experience of a horse. It’s said in the film that wars robbed everyone.
I was deeply moved by the movie. At the beginning, Albert’s father spent much money buying a horse which was the leading character of the film. He loved it very much and took charge of training it. He called it Joey. The horse had to help them plough because the whole family owed the landowner’s landtax. Albert took it to plough, but it was unable to plough. Though he was hurt, he still believed that Joey could do that and never gave up. Eventually, they made it. The scene that both of them worked in the rain touched my heart. Unluckily, in order to manage the farm, Albert’s father was forced to sell the horse to others, making Albert very sad. At the same time, the war broke out.
Except for humans, there were also susceptibilities between animals. In the film, two horses, Joey and Topthorn, were full of sentiment with each other. After losing their owners, they cared for each other during the war. For example, when Topthorn whose legs were injured was commanded to pull the ordnance, Joey looked at it soulfully and started to neigh. Finally, Joey helped it successfully. As a saying goes, prosperity makes friends and adversity tries them. It’s quite moving.
It’s unimaginable that two men from different enemies worked together to cut the steel enwinding Joey. When soldiers found the horse, only a man called Colin walked up to it bravely, and then another soldier named Peter came to help him with a wire-cutter. They discussed how to cut the steel and cooperated to finish the tough task. In the end, they brought it off. What’s more, they decided who the horse belonged to by throwing the coin rather than by violence. In a word, it indicated that people were still kind and they were heartily sick of wars. In fact, wars were politicians’ tool as well as everyman.
Personally, what’s the most moving is that Albert and Joey met again. It made me burst into tears. When the horse was taken back to the barrack by Colin, everyone looked at it quietly. No one could survive in no man’s land, but Joey made it. In their eyes, it was a wonder. However, the doctor refused to treat it and asked the soldier to kill it. At the moment, Albert appeared and prevented them. Although he became blind, he could still recognize Joey. At the same time, Joey did n’t forget its owner. What a stirring scene! The deep affection between them wasn’t effaced in spite of the long-term war. Perhaps it’s the affection that supported people until the war ended.
As we know, wars are so merciless that poor people lose everything. Humans’ history is filled with wars. Not only do Wars promote the development of the technology but also it will destroy humans one day. Sincerely, I hope that wars can end forever and everyone all around the world will live in harmony.。
