1. set out启程，出发，陈述。如：

They set out as the sun was rising. 太阳升起时，他们出发了。

She set out as an actress with the help of a director. 在一位导演的帮助下她开始当演员。

He set out his ideas in simple English. 他用简单的英语表达了他的想法。

【拓展】1) set out for 动身去（某地）。如：

We set out for New York in May. 我们五月动身去纽约。

2) set out on sth开始进行某事。如：

They set out on the last stage of their journey. 他们开始了旅行的最后一程。

3) set out to do sth / set about doing sth 打算做某事，着手（开始）做某事。如：

He sets out to make a lot of money. 他打算挣很多钱。

2. out of order发生故障，次序颠倒。如：

My clock is out of order. 我的闹钟坏了。

These books are out of order. 这些书都乱了。

【拓展】1) in (good) order 整齐，整洁，情况良好。如：

She always keeps her things in order. 她总是把她的东西收拾得整整齐齐。

Sam always keeps his bicycle in good order. 山姆总是把他的自行车保

护得很好。

2) in order to do sth / in order that 为了……。如：

Every day she listens to English over the radio in order to improve her pronunciation. 为了提高英语发音水平，她每天听英语广播。

They talked in a low voice in order that they should not be heard. 他们谈话的声音很低，故意不让人听见。

3) in order of 按……顺序。如：

Characters are listed in order of appearance. 人物是按出场顺序排列的。

3. get through 度过（艰难或不愉快的一段时间），通过（考试），打通（电话），完成（任务）。如：

It’s going to be hard to get through the next couple of days. 未来几天会很不好过。

I got through the written papers last term. 我上学期笔试及格了。When you get through (with) your work, let’s go out. 你完成工作后，我们出去吧。

【拓展】1) get down to (doing) sth开始做某事，认真处理某事。如：He got down to (doing) his work after the holidays. 度假之后他开始专心工作。

2) get into 进入，陷入。如：

How did the thief manage to get into the house? 这贼是怎样设法进入屋子的？

3) get away 逃脱。如：

Two tigers got away from the zoo last night. 两只老虎昨夜逃出了动物园。

4) get around 四处走动，传播。如：

When word about this matter got around, people quickly headed for the spot. 关于这件事的消息一传开，人们都往这个地方赶来。
