动词的一般过去时是英语五种基本时态中最常用的时态之一，而本单元是Goforit!教材中第一次正式接触一般过去时，通过学习，让学生在基本掌握动词现在进行时和一般现在时的基础上，跨入一个新的认知领域，即对过去活动的表达。

2.教学目标的确立及其依据。

本单元的整体语言目标，即LanguageGoal,是“谈论最近的过去所发生的事情”。

教材的安排也是通过听说读写各种活动，使学生学会如何谈论过去发生的事情。

本课时作为本单元的第一课时，学生对过去时的概念几乎一无所知，他们即使在表达现在的概念时，对已经学过的一般现在时和现在进行时也常常搞混。
