高考英语一轮复习 第一 基础知识聚焦 Unit 2 Heal
入舵市安恙阳光实验学校Unit 2 Healthy eatingⅠ.阅读理解 01830487(2015·沈阳一模)Being physically active three times a week reduces the odds of being depressed by about 16%, according to new UCL research carried out as part of the Public Health Research Centre. The study, published in JAMA Psychiatry, found a twoway relationship between depression and physical activity. People who increased their weekly activity were reported to have fewer depressive symptoms but those with more depressive symptoms were less active, particularly at younger ages.Researchers followed 11,135 people born in 1958 up until the age of 50, recording depressive symptoms and levels of physical activity at regular intervals in adulthood. They found that each additional activity period per week reduced odds of depression by 6%. In England 19% of men and 26% of women are currently classed as “inactive”, and this study suggests that activity could significantly improve their mental as well as physical health.“Assuming the association is causal, physical activity has a protective effect against depressio n. If an adult between his twenties and forties who isn't physically active became active 3 times per week, he would reduce his risks of depression by about 16%,” said Dr Snehal of the UCL Institute of Child Health, lead author of the study.Professor Mark, Director of the Public Health Research Centre, said: “Many people are already aware of the benefits of physical activity on their general health, but now we are seeing more evidence that suggests it also has a positive effect on a person's mental wellbeing. The latest research highlights just how important it is to ensure that people are working and living in environments that allow them to be both physically active and mentally healthy.”文章大意:最新研究表明,增加每周锻炼身体的次数,能降低人们患上抑郁症的风险。
高考英语一轮复习 第一 教材全程攻略 Unit 2 Healthy
入舵市安恙阳光实验学校Unit 2 Healthy eating Ⅰ.阅读理解AThe spread of Western eating habits around the world is bad for humanhealth and the environment. These findings come from a new report in thejournal Nature.David Tilman, a professor of ecology at the University of Minnesota,America, examined information from 100 countries to identify what peopleate and how a diet affected health. He noted a movement beginning in the1960s. He found that as nations industrialized (工业化), populationincreased and earnings rose, more people began to adopt what has beencalled the Western diet. The Western diet is high in sugar, fat, oil and meat. By eating thesefoods, people began to get fatter and sicker. David Tilman saysoverweight people are at greater risk of noninfectious d iseases likediabetes (糖尿病) and heart disease.Unfortunately when people become industrialized, if they adopt thisWestern diet, they are going to have these health problems, especiallyin developing countries in Asia. China is an example where the number of diabetes cases has been jumping from less than one percent to 10 percent of the population as they began to industrialize over a 20year period. And that is happening all across the world, in Mexico, in Nigeria and so on.And, a diet bad for human beings is also bad for the environment. As the world's population grows, more forests and tropical (热带的) areas will become farmlands for crops or grasslands for cattle. We are likely to have more greenhouse gas in the future from agriculture than that coming out of all forms of transportation right now.Mr Tilman calls the link between the diet, the environment and human health, “a trilemma”—a problem offering a difficult choice. He says one possible solution is leaving the Western diet behind.篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。

(通用版)高三英语一轮复习 第1部分 基础知识解读 Unit 2 The universal lan
课后分层集训Unit 2 The universal languageⅠ.阅读理解A(2017·湖北省八校高三联考)Have you ever found yourself in this situation:You hear a song you used to sing when you were a child—a bit of nostalgia(怀旧) or “blast from the past〞,as we say.But it is not a distant childhood memory. The words come back to you as clearly as when you sang them all those years ago.Researchers at the University of Edinburgh studied the relationship between music and remembering a foreign language. They found that remembering words in a song was the best way to remember even one of the most difficult languages. Here is what they did.Researchers took 60 adults and randomly divided them into three groups of 20.Then they gave the groups three different types of “listenandrepeat〞 learning conditions.Researchers had one group simply speak the words. They had the second group speak the words to a rhythm,or beat. And they asked the third group to sing the words. All three groups studied words from the Hungarian language for 15 minutes. Then they took part in a series of language tests to see what they remembered. Why Hungarian, you ask?Researchers said they chose Hungarian because not many people know the language. It does not share any roots with Germanic or Romance languages, such as Italian or Spanish. After the tests were over, the singers came out on top.The people who learned these new Hungarian words by singing them showed a higher overall performance. They did the best in four out of five of the tests. They also performed two times better than those who simply learned the words by speaking them.Dr.Katie Overy says singing could lead to new ways to learn a foreign language. The brain likes to remember things when they are contained in a catchy 3,or memorable 4,tune 5.Dr.Ludke said the findings could help those who struggle to learn foreign languages. On the University of Edinburgh's website Dr.Ludke writes,“This studyprovides the first experimental evidence that a listenandrepeat singing method can support foreign language, learning, and opens the door for future research in this area.〞【语篇解读】本文是一篇科普说明文。

Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2014·银川、吴忠部分中学联考)Eating foods high in trans fats(反式脂肪) and saturated (饱和的) fats increases the risk of depression, according to a Spanish study, confirming previous studies that linked “junk food”with the disease.Researchers also showed that some products, such as olive oil,can fight against the risk of mental illness.Authors of the widereaching study, from the universities of Navarra and Las Palmas, followed and analyzed the diet and lifestyle of over 12,000 volunteers over six years. When the study began, none of the participants had been diagnosed with depression;by the end,657 of them were new sufferers.“Participants with an increased consumption of trans fats presented up to a 48 percent increase in the risk of depression when they were compared to participants who did not consume these fats,”the head study author said.“The more trans fats were consumed, the greater harmful effect they produced on the volunteers.”The research team found,at the same time, that after assessing the effect of polyunsaturated fats made up of larger amounts of fish and vegetable oils and olive oil, these products are associated with a lower risk of suffering depression. The report, published in the online journal PLOS ONE,noted the research was performed on a European population that enjoys a relatively low intake of trans fats-making up only 0.4 percent of the total energy taken in by the volunteers.“Despite this,we observed an increase in the risk of suffering depression of nearly 50 percent,”said researcher Miguel Martinez.“On this basis we think it of great importance to take this effect into account in countries like the United States, where the percentage of energy derived from these fats is around 2.5 percent.”The report pointed out that the current number of depression sufferers in the world is around 150 million people, and has increased in recent years. This rise is attributable, according to the authors,to great changes in the sources of fats consumed in western diets, where we have replaced certain types of beneficial fats in nuts, vegetable oils and fish with the saturated and trans fats found in meats, butter and other products such as massproduced cakes and fast food.【文章大意】本文主要讲述了吃含有极高反式脂肪和饱和脂肪的垃圾食品会增加患抑郁症的几率。

应对区爱护学校Unit 2 Healthy eating(60分钟81分)Part A一、阅读理解(共8小题;每小题2分,满分16分)AIt has long been hailed(宣称) as the most crucial meal of the day, vital for getting the body going and preventing overeating later on.But breakfast may not be so vital after all,if new research is to be believed.Contrary to popular belief, the study found the first meal of the day had little impact on snacking or portion sizes later in the day.It also had no effect on metabolism(新陈代谢).The researchers, from the University of Bath, now suggest the better health of people who eat a good breakfast may be due to their general, wide diet regime(养生法).They found there was no change in metabolism after six weeks between those who ate nothing for breakfast and those who consumed 700 calories before 11 am.The major difference was that those who abstained from breakfast ate fewer calories over the whole day. This goes against the long-held theory that people who skip breakfast simply make up for it by gorging on food later on.However, breakfast eaters were likely to expend more energy—around 442 calories—by being active, mainly in the morning after eating. They also had more stable blood sugar readings, especially by the end of the trial. The research added:“The belief that breakfast is ‘the most important meal of the day’ is so widespread that many people are surprised to learn that there is a lack of scientific evidence showing whether or how breakfast may directly cause changes in our health. It is certainly truethat people who regularly eat breakfast tend to be slimmer and healthier but these individuals also typically follow most other recommendations for a healthy lifestyle,so have more balanced diets and take more physical exercise.”In another study published this month, researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham divided volunteers into three groups. One skipped breakfast, others always ate it and a third continued with their current regime.Four months later,no one in any group had lost much weight.1.According to the new research, the people who eat breakfast tend to .A.prevent overeating later onB.expend more energyC.have more balanced dietsD.lose more weight2.If you want to be healthier and slimmer, you should .A.not eat breakfastB.snack as frequently as possibleC.eat general, wide breakfastD.have a healthy lifestyle3.The underlined phrase “abstained from” in Paragraph 2 means .A.didn’t haveB.hadC.had moreD.had less4.The best title of the passage is .A.whether to have breakfast or notB.no expected good to have breakfastC.difference between having and not having breakfastD.healthy diet【文章大意】本文为议论文,主要论述了“早餐没有预想中那么重要”的观点。
