More than 3 million people worldwide are giving up their time to help search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
However, they are not on the 57 ships and 48 aircraft but at home on their computers. The volunteers are part of the crowdsourcing appeal on the Tomnod website -- the online search party scanning more than 24,000 square kilometres of satellite imagery in hopes of finding a clue that will lead to the discovery of MH370, reports The Guardian.
Tomnod is run by commercial satellite company DigitalGlobe, which soon after the plane’s disappearance repositioned two of its five satellites over the plane's last known location in the Gulf of Thailand, and uploads high-resolution satellite images to its site.
Tomnod users are provided with a randomly chosen map from the search area and are told to drop a pin if they see signs of aeroplane wreckage, life rafts, oil slicks or anything that looks “suspicious”.
Experts then find where there is overlap in tags from people who tagged the same location, and the most notable areas are shared with authorities. A Tomnod spokesperson said that up to Thursday every pixel(像素)had been looked at by human eyes at least 30 times, The Guardian report said.
The Tomnod hunt has so far proved inconclusive. However, for those taking part in the search for MH370, sacrificing their time is worth it if their efforts unearth some clues.

Napoleon climbs up the ladder, takes a running start and leaps into the pool. He splashes down, and the crowd cheers. As Napoleon swims to the edge of the pool, he looks excited. It might sound a lot like a diving event at the Olympics, but this sport is for a different type of
competitor—the furry, tail-wagging type. It is called dog diving.
Napoleon, a black Labrador retriever, has been participating in the sport for two years. That is not the only thing that makes Napoleon special. The person who trains him and handles him at dog-diving events is Ashley, a 10-year-old kid!
Ashley became interested in the sport of dog diving while at a state fair near her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She saw the dog divers competing to leap the farthest into a pool, and thought Napoleon would be good at the sport because he loves the water. When her parents tried working with Nap oleon he didn’t do well, so Ashley decided to try it herself. With Ashley as his trainer, Napoleon caught right on, leaping as far as 24 feet at a time!
On June 30, Ashley and Napoleon participated in a competition in Denver, Colorado. Dogs showed off their skills in several fur-raising events, from jumping over hurdles to catching flying disks. As usual, Napoleon focused on the competition.
To warm up, Ashley took Napoleon on a walk, had him practice fetching and stretched him out. “Napoleon was scared when he first arrived at the competition, ”said Ashley. “But when he focused, he did a good job. ”Leaping into the water to grab his favorite toy, Napoleon took sixth place out of nine.
It was not enough to qualify for(有……的资格)the upcoming “Dog Olympics”, o fficially known as the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge. But that won’t stop Napoleon and Ashley from pressing on.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. —A cat whose owners thought was lost spent nearly three weeks crossing the Pacific Ocean in a shipping container with no food or water — and appears to be just fine.
The voyage began after Pamela Escamilla lost sight of her 3-year-old calico, Spice, while packing a huge container with household goods in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.
The container was shipped June 15 to Southern California. Escamilla, 39, and her husband couldn’t find the cat before taki ng their flight and asked neighbors in Hawaii to call if Spice returned.
While the Escamillas feared the worst, Spice spent 18 days in the pitch-black container without food or water as it crossed the Pacific before arriving at the San Bernardino home of Escamilla’s parents.
“We really thought that cat was going to be dead,” said Edward Gardner, Escamilla’s father.
When Escamilla opened the container, she and family members huddled around her noticed fluffs of cat hair on the floor.
They started removing items, and Escamilla climbed into the container to search.
“I saw (Spice) poke her head out from behind some bicycles, and I started to scream,” said Escamilla. She gently picked up the cat and went to the veterinarian, who said the feline’s prognosis (预后) was good.
“It’s always a good day when the cat’s alive,” said Escamilla. “We didn’t know what we would find.”
Spice’s kidneys had shrunk and her bowels were backed up, but she managed to get some food and water down at the vet, Escamilla said.
The vet gave the Escamillas a soup recipe for Spice made of chicken broth and marrow.

That morning I made sure I had enough to drink and went to the toilet about three times 43 we left. I thought l was totally prepared__44 the journey, but nothing could have prepared me
for my family's complaints.
“Relax! Don't hold the steering wheel so 45 (tight)." called a nervous voice from the backseat.
"Speed up. 70km/h isn't fast enough. You are holding up the traffic," another voice ordered from the seat next to _46 (I).
How 47 (annoy)! To content them ,I 48 (step) hard on the accelerator, and within a second, an angry voice began to yell again.
‘‘Stop! Slow down! Are you crazy? Did I tell you to go above l00km/h'?"
Finally I drove into the city, where the speed limit was only 50km/h.
My family seemed relieved and stopped__49 (tell) me what to do. On our way home, the journey was much 50 (easy) than before as everyone else fell fast asleep. So ,I just took my time and enjoyed the drive.

The end-of-term exam was drawing nearly. Tom was busy preparing their lessons. One night, he stayed up until almost two o’clock, worked har d at maths. As a result he overslept the next morning, but he was late for school. In the history class, he felt too sleepy that he couldn’t fix his attention in what the teacher was saying. In the end, he could hardly keep his eye open, so he bent over his desk and fell in asleep. He dreamt that he failed to pass exam and got a fierce scolding from the history teacher. At that moment he suddenly awoke. Guess what? The history teacher
was shouting at him and all his classmates was laughing.
1. nearl y → near。

2. their → his。

3. worked → working。

4. but → so/and。

5. too → so。

so+形容词或副词+that……

6. in → on/upon。

7. eye → eyes。

8.去掉in。

9. exam前加the。

exam为特指。

10. was → were。

2. 乘坐的大巴车又脏又乱,导游介绍不积极、不详细等;

注意:
1. 词数不少于100;
2.可适当增加细节,以使行文连贯;

Our guide didn’t show us around the tourist attractions as planned, so we were not able to visit two of them. In addition, the bus we were traveling on was dirty and messy, making us uncomfortable all the way. What’s worse, the guide wasn’t active in introducing the attractions to us, and sometimes he couldn’t explain them in detail, making our tour terrible and unpleasant.
Therefore, I’m writing to you, wishing that you could deal with the affair in a proper way and give us a reply as soon as possible.
Yours, Li Hua。
