Preschool Mid-Class Walking English Lesson Plan
Introduction:
The objective of this English lesson plan for preschool mid-class children is to introduce them to basic concepts related to walking, with a focus on English vocabulary. The lesson will be fun and engaging, with a variety of activities that promote learning through play.
Target Vocabulary:
Walk, run, skip, hop, jump, tiptoe, crawl, slide, stumble, and fall.
Materials and Resources:
- Flashcards of target vocabulary words
- Ch ildren’s song about walking

Procedure:
Introduction (5 minutes):
- Greet all the children, and ask them how they are feeling today.
- Introduce the topic of walking, and ask if they know what it means to walk.
- Use flashcards to show the different kinds of walking (walk, run, skip, hop, jump, tiptoe, crawl, slide, stumble, and fall).

Play the children’s song about walking, and encourage the children to sing and dance along.
Activity 1 - Storytelling (15 minutes):
- Read a picture book about walking that has illustrations that show people walking in different ways.
- Use this as an opportunity to show the children the different ways of walking in real life.
Activity 2 - Obstacle Course (20 minutes):
- Create an obstacle course using different materials and objects to represent different forms of walking. For example: stepping stones to represent jumping, a tunnel to represent crawling, and a slippery surface to represent sliding.
- Divide the children into groups of four or five, and ask each group to complete the obstacle course together.
- Use yarns of different colours to mark the path of each group so that they can follow their own path and avoid bumping into other groups.
- Encourage the children to use the vocabulary words they have learned while they navigate the course.
Activity 3 - Audio Recording (15 minutes):
- Play a pre-recor ded audio of the children’s song about walking and have the children sing and dance along. This reinforces the vocabulary words they have learned.
- Encourage them to use the different forms of walking as they dance to the song.
Activity 4 - Art Time (15 minutes):
- Provide colouring materials and papers to the children, inviting them to create a picture using the target vocabulary they learned today.
- Ask them to name the different walking motions they are drawing on paper.
- Finally, collect their pieces, place them in the portfolio and encourage the children to speak up on the vocabulary they have used in their masterpiece.
Closure (5 minutes):
- Gather the children together and ask them to share what they have learned about walking.
- Ask if they have any questions or concerns.
- Recite the different ways to walk to ensure that the children remember them, gesture with them.
- Lastly, summarize today's lesson, and express excitement for the next English lesson.
