1. know about ...意为“了解，知道”
2. in many ways 在许多方面
拓展： by the way 顺便说一下 on the way to ...... 在去的途中......
in a way 在某种程度上 in this way 用这种方法3. keep the air cool and clean 保持空气凉爽、干净。

keep+ n.+ adj.使保持（某种状态）
例： The bad news kept me sad .
拓展：keep +n.+ doing sth

6. look around =look round 四下环顾
7. be made of 由...... 制成（制成品能看出原材料）
例： Desks are made of wood.桌子是由木头制成的。

be made from 由...... 制成的（制成品看不出原材料）
例： Paper is made from wood. 纸是由木头制成的。

8．cut down 砍倒
例：It’s not right to cut down the trees.砍树是不对的。

9. millions of 数百万的，无数的。

（表示不是具体的数量）
类似短语有：hundreds of 数以百计的 thousands of 成千上万的例：There are millions o f stars in the sky.天空中有无数颗星星。

拓展：+hundred/thousand/million...+ n.pl.（表示具体数量）
例：There are three thousand students in our school.在我们学校有三千名学生。

10．stop doing sth.停止做某事（停止正在做的事）
The students stopped talking when the teacher came in.
老师进来时学生停止了说话。

stop to do sth 停止做某事（停下来去做另外一件事）
例：W e are tired, Let’s stop to have a rest.
我们累了，让我们停下休息一会吧。
