迅速得就像应验，“其亡也忽焉”，As fast as thou shalt wane, so fast thou grow'st
一瞬间，你的儿孙又勃然兴起； In one of thine, from that which thou departest;
你青春岁月，付出的那些心血， And that fresh blood which youngly thou bestow'st,
在暮年时，或可得回馈和补齐； Thou mayst call thine when thou from youth conver test.
世上若无愚蠢、衰老、腐朽多好，Herein lives wisdom, beauty, and increase;
只生活着智慧、昌盛、以及美丽；Without this folly, age, and cold decay:
但若人人皆是如此，精盘细算， If all were minded so, the times should cease
则又将会时光停滞，世界封闭； And threescore year would make the world away.
就让粗鲁、丑陋和笨拙者绝后， Let those whom nature hath not made for store,
并且让他们都，死无葬身之地； Harsh, featureless, and rude, barrenly perish:
上天的赠予，已然超出你预期， Look whom she best endow'd, she
gave the more;
