Moscow city authorities have begun using comics (漫画) with characters from Russian fairy tales to explain to migrants (移民) how they should behave. They say a 100-page guide is needed to "keep a positive image" of the city and could help reduce "tensions" between natives and migrants. But critics have pointed out that foreign migrants and natives may be regarded as antagonists in the manual (手册).
Russians and migrants have repeatedly flooded in Moscow recently. Many migrants from ex-Soviet republics in Central Asia, the Caucasus (高加索) and North Caucasus, arrive in Moscow every year, attracted by the capital's job opportunities and relatively high salaries. A significant number of them work in the Russian capital illegally.
The new guide in Russian seeks to explain the "dos" and "don'ts" to migrants. They are urged not to cause trouble, by staring at women, or eating or talking loudly on the streets. They are also warned that the police may routinely (例行公事) stop them to check their documents.
In the manual, Russia's famous "three warriors" are meant to represent the city's law enforcement agencies (执法机关), while Prince Yuri Dolgoruky (a historical character) is used for tours around Moscow. Meanwhile, Vasilisa the Wise and The Snow Maiden test the reader on Russia's language and history. A special section of the book explains the importance of following Moscow's strict residency and employment rules, stressing that migrants could otherwise be deported (驱逐出境) or banned from entry.
The manual was written primarily for illegal migrants, Alexander Kalinin, who heads the group Support for Working Migrants in Moscow, told BBC Russian.
"We want to raise their level of law awareness," he added.
Migrant characters had initially (最初) been identified as representatives of different nationalities, but the book's authors later decided to drop this idea so as "not to offend anyone",
said Mr. Kalinin.
"The old conflict between Russian heroes and non-Slavic invaders is being revived," Yevgeny Varshaver, a migration expert told BBC Russian. He also suggested that the language used in the book would be "difficult" to understand for some migrants who were not native Russian speakers.(1)The underlined word "antagonists" in Paragraph 1 can probably be replaced by "________".
A. friends
B. acquaintances
C. cooperators
D. opponents
(2)People from other countries come to Moscow "________".
A. to find well-paid jobs
B. to have a new lifestyle
C. to enjoy the fine climate
D. to experience a new culture

A. consequences the migrants may suffer
B. the purpose of publishing the handbook
C. the measures to attract foreign migrants
D. characters and their functions in Russian fairytales
(4)Which of the following would be the best title of the text?

Beginning life at college naturally develops both excitement and anxiety for many reasons. Fors ome, this feeling is quickly overcome as they adapt to a new environment; for others the change takes longer and sometimes appears as homesickness.
If you are homesick, you might notice an increase in:
Low energy or motivation.
Trouble sleeping.
Increases/decreases in appetite.
Having difficulty with school.
Increased use of drugs or alcohol.
Lack of interest or involvement in new surroundings.
CAUSES
The distance from home—the farther you go, the worse it may be.
Unhappiness when things are different from your expectations of student life.
You have finally arrived at college after working toward it for so long.
A heavy workload.
Students who are homesick often feel they have no control over their environment.
WHAT MIGHT HELP?
Keep in good contact with the people you have left behind, but also give yourself time within the university to begin to get involved here.
Be realistic about what to expect from student life and from yourself. Set up a balance between work and leisure.
If work is proving too difficult, you may need to improve your study skills or your organization of time.
Remember to get enough food and sleep! These affect you emotionally as well as physically.
Make contacts and friends through shared activities such as sports or other interests.
If you stop being able to do normal social and academic things, seek professional help either from your advisor or dean or the counseling service.
(1)What might be a sign of feeling homesick?
A. Feeling like quarreling with someone else.
B. Becoming interested in study than ever before.
C. Finding food or fruit less attractive.
D. Participating in almost all activities in college.
(2)New college students might be homesick because .
A. they are never far away from their parents
B. they feel upset about something unexpected
C. they suddenly do not have anything to do
D. they do not like the university they are in
(3)Which of the following measures might be helpful for homesick students according to the text?

C. Forcing themselves to stay in their dorms on weekends.
D. Going in for sports with their friends.
【答案】(1)C
(2)B
(3)D
由原文“Increases/decreases in appetite.”
由原文“Unhappiness when things are different from your expectations of student life.”
由原文“Keep in good contact with the people you have left behind”可知,要跟留下的人保持联系,所以A选项“要一直让老朋友留下”是不正确的。
由原文“Set up a balance between work and leisure.”
由原文“Make contacts and friends through shared activities such as sports or other interests.”

The year 3700, Earth is far too hot for any human to call it home. On this planet at least, man is nothing more than a memory--if there is anything left to remember the "wise man". But what about our wisdom--will any of it survive us?
The conventional answer is no. Knowledge requires a knower, and there will be no knowing minds around then. But if information survives, perhaps in books or hard drives, maybe the knowledge isn't quite dead but dormant(休眠), ready to become alive with the help of other minds that develop over time or come to visit Earth in the distant future.
At first sight, that seems to be reasonable: after all, we have done similar things with past knowledge. For example, we saved an ancient computer from a ship destroyed at sea off the southern coast of Greece, and succeeded in finding the meaning of Egyptian hieroglyphics(象形文字). Careful work can bring previously lost wisdom back to life.
However, the key point is that there is a certain cultural continuity with those ancient times that allows us to reason and make progress in the dark: we know we are dealing with the legacy(遗产)of other humans. Without that link, the survival of objects and raw data doesn't guarantee the survival of knowledge. And a lack of continuity in language with any future intelligence would be a barrier. Knowledge is closely connected with language. When a language dies out, we can lose systems of reasoning that they contain. If that's lost, then it can't be recovered.
All this means that other minds might not be able to fully make human knowledge alive when
we are gone. It is better to concentrate on not dying out in the first place.
(1)How many opinions are mentioned in Para.2?
A. One.
B. Two.
C. Three.
D. Four.
(2)What does the underlined phrase "similar things" in Para 3 probably refer to?
A. Making lost wisdom alive again.
B. Rescuing disappearing knowledge.
C. Preserving future knowledge.
D. Gaining new knowledge.
(3)How can we make knowledge survive?
A. We know a lot about human beings.
B. We learn ways to draw conclusions.
C. We have a certain cultural continuity.
D. We protect the legacy of other humans.
(4)What's mainly talked about in the text?
A. Can human beings live on?
B. Will our knowledge survive us?
C. What will the earth be like in the future?
D. How can we protect our culture?
【答案】(1)B
(2)A
(3)C
(4)B
Knowledge requires a knower, and there will be no knowing minds around then. But if information survives, perhaps in books or hard drives, maybe the knowledge isn't quite dead but dormant(休眠), ready to become alive with the help of other minds that develop over time or come to visit Earth in the distant future.
For example, we saved an ancient computer from a ship destroyed at sea off the southern coast of Greece, and succeeded in finding the meaning of Egyptian hieroglyphics(象形文字). Careful work can bring previously lost wisdom back to life.
At first sight, that seems to be reasonable: after all, we have done similar things with past knowledge.
故选A。
However, the key point is that there is a certain cultural continuity with those ancient times that allows us to reason and make progress in the dark: we know we are dealing with the legacy(遗产)of other humans.
The year 3700, Earth is far too hot for any human to call it home. On this planet at least, man is nothing more than a memory--if there is anything left to remember the "wise man". But what about our wisdom--will any of it survive us?

It is quite reasonable to blame traffic jams, the cost of gas and the great speed of modern life, but manners on the road are becoming horrible. Everybody knows that the nicest men would become fierce tigers behind the wheel. It is all right to have a tiger in a cage, but to have one in the driver's seat is another matter.
Road politeness is not only good manners, but a good sense. It takes the most cool-headed drivers great patience to give up the desire to beat back when forced to face rude driving. On the other hand, a little politeness goes a long way towards reducing the possibility of quarrelling and fighting. A friendly nod or a wave of thanks in answer to an act of politeness helps to create an atmosphere of good will and becomes so necessary in modern traffic conditions. But such behavior of politeness is by no means enough. Many drivers nowadays don't even seem able to recognize politeness when they see it.
However, misplaced politeness can also be dangerous. A typical example is the driver who waves a child crossing the street at a wrong place into the path of oncoming cars that may not be able to stop in time. The same goes for encouraging old ladies to cross the road wherever and whenever they want to.
An experienced driver, whose manners are faultless, told me it would help if drivers learnt to correctly join in a traffic stream without causing total blockages that give rise to unpleasant feelings. Unfortunately, modern drivers can't even learn to drive, let alone master the roadmanship Years ago, experts warned us that the fast increase of the car ownership would demand more give-and-take from all road users. It is high time for all of us to take this message to heart.
(1)The most suitable title for this passage would be __________.
A.Traffic Jams.
B.Good Manners.
C.Road Politeness.
D.Modern Drivers.
(2)Troubles on the road are often caused by __________.
A.traffic jams
B.the behavior of the drivers
C.the great speed of modern life
D.terrible road conditions
(3)According to the writer, a good driver should __________.
A.encourage children to cross the road whenever they want to
B.beat back when forced to face rude driving
C.be able to recognize politeness when he sees it
D.join in a traffic stream quickly however other people feel
(4)t is not always right for drivers to __________.
A.master the roadmanship
B.neglect politeness when they see it
C.give a friendly nod in answer to an act of politeness
D.encourage old ladies to cross the road whenever and wherever they want to
【答案】(1)C
(2)B
(3)C
(4)D
根据第二段中的“Road politeness is not only good manners, but a good sense. ”;以及第三段中的“However, misplaced politeness can also be dangerous”可知,文章从正反两面讲述了司机在道路上行驶的时候所应该注意的礼貌问题,而且作者在最后一段介绍了一位有经验的司机对此的看法,由此判断这篇文章最合适的标题是道路礼仪。
故选C。
(2)考查细节理解。
根据第一段中的“...but manners on the road are becoming horrible. Everybody knows that the nicest men would become fierce tigers behind the wheel”;以及第二段中的“..., but good sense too. It takes the most cool-headed drivers great patience to give up the desire to beat back when forced to face rude driving.”
根据第二段中的“Many drivers nowadays don't even seem able to recognize politeness when they see it.“可知,现在的很多司机看起来不知道什么才是道路礼节。
根据第三段中的“misplaced politeness can also be dangerous”;以及“The same goes for encouraging old ladies to cross the road wherever and whenever they want to.”

Beneath the water in the China's Qiandao Lake lies a hidden treasure. The ancient city of Shi Cheng (also known as Lion City), located in the province of Zhejiang, has been submerged underwater for 53 years. Shi Cheng was founded about 1,300 years ago in a valley surrounded by the Five Lion Mountains. When the Chinese government decided they needed a new hydroelectric power station (水力发电站),a dam and man-made lake were constructed and the city was left at the bottom of this new body of water. Now, it sits at depths ranging from 85 feet to about 103 feet.
Much like the Machu Picchu ruins in Peru, this underwater city remained forgotten until some renewed interests lead to its rediscovery. Qiu Feng, a local official in charge of tourism thought about utilizing Shi Cheng for entertainment on the lake and as a destination for diving clubs. On September 18, 2001, scuba divers made their first attempt underwater. "We were lucky. As soon as we dived into the lake, we found the outside wall of the town and even picked up a brick, "Qiu told Guangzhou Daily in an interview. More research was conducted, and it was discovered that the entire town was intact (1881), including wooden beams and stairs. After the initial findings, international archaeologists and a film crew then recorded the preservation of the lost ruins.
Looking at surface of the lake, dotted with over 1,000 islands, you'd never know that an entire city was below.
It's incredible to think that after all this time, the structure still remains intact and we could one day visit it. Until then, Shi Cheng will continue to remain inconspicuously submerged.
