1-2 XUANXUANHello everyone, today I want to show you a part of how the earth was made, and mainly talk about Yellowstone. As continents shift and clash, volcanoes erupt, and glaciers grow and recede, the Earth’s crust is carved in countless fascinating ways, leaving a trail of geological mysteries behind. And one of the greatest is Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. This is one of the world’s most geologically active places, shaken by up to 5000 earthquakes every year, and with more geysers and hot springs than in the rest of the world combined.Scientists studying Yellowstone are uncovering a violent past. Carved water, crushed by ancient glaciers and blasted by the biggest volcanic eruptions ever known on the planet. And even today, Yellowstone is one of the most dangerous places on Earth.3 LAOCAOYellowstone is one of the most amazing places on Earth, and it’s unique. It contains some of America’s most stunning scenery and wildlife.Yellowstone is the world’s first national park which is in the northw estern corner of Wyoming and overlaps into Montana and Idaho. The park covers 3468 square miles, 63 miles north to south and 54 miles east to west. It’s a very unusual geology that created the park.Hundreds of species of mammals, birds, fish and reptiles have been documented, including several that are either endangered or threatened. The vast forests and grasslands also include unique species of plants. Yellowstone Park is the largest and most famous megafauna location in the Continental United States. Grizzly Bears, wolves, and free-ranging herds of bison and elk live in the park.\Old Faithful is the star attraction of Yellowstone. It’s one of the most predictable geographical features on Earth , erupting almost 91 minutes.Beneath Old Faithful is a rather complex plumbing system, filled with caverns and conduits and constrictions. Rainwater saturating the ground around the geyser slowly fills its underground reservoir. Hot rocks below ground heat the water under pressure for around 90 minutes. Suddenly some water spurts through a tiny, five inch wide crack in the rocks. This causes a drop in the pressure within the water chamber. In a instant, thousands of gallons of water are turned to steam and blasted up into the air.The gases come out from the geysers is the same mix that is found coming out of volcanoes. So gases are clear evidence that under the springs and geysers is a volcano. Yellowstone must be powered by the heat of the volcano.People can’t see a smo king volcano or a big steep volcanic crater. But where is the volcano? Scientists find out evidences to show us that Yellowstone is the super volcano. The black layer that geologists call “obsidian” is actually a type of glass. It’s crucial evidence that the rocks and soil here came out of a volcano. Because of obsidian is forged when boiling hot ash and gas rapidly cool under great pressure. And that’s just what happens when hot volcano clouds roll out across the landscape. There is one way that so much ash could have been blasted so very far away from its source. The eruption must have been larger, far larger than anything ever seen by man.Scientists now label it as a super eruption. The geologists have recreated what must have happened here one the day Yellowstone exploded.Incandescent avalanches of ash raced out of the park in all directions. They travelled at very high velocity, easily over 100 miles per hour, across the land surface and obliterating everything in its path. It was extremely hot when it arrived here as hot as 1500 degrees Fahrenheit.11-13 3PAOAll of the evidences about the size of the super eruption help solve the mystery of the missing volcano. Scientists realized that the super eruption was so enormous that it must have blown the volcano to pieces. The repeated hotspot explosions on land have made Yellowstone unique. Each of the earlier explosions blew the original mountains to pieces. Then the land smoothed over with later flows of more runny lava that was released from deep under the Earth’s crust.Multiple strands of evidence combine to reveal Yellowstone’s slumbering monster , the gigantic hotspot plume lying under the park.On the timescale that the geologists work to, a coming super eruption in Yellowstone may will be right around the corner. That corner could be 10,000 or 100,000 years in the future. Or it could be tomorrow.A new and devastating chapter in the ever changing story of how the Earth was made.。

新视野大学英语presentation(5篇材料)
新视野大学英语presentation(5篇材料)第一篇:新视野大学英语presentation庄颖:(引入主题)Good morning, everyone.Today, we five will give a presentation about Chinese writer Mo Yan who had won the first Nobel Prize as a real Chinese citizen. At the first, I want to ask all of you that had anyone here had read just one or two books or articles written by Mr.Mo?All right, I had guessed the outcome.Er, I have to say that we college students should feel happy that we don’t have to take part in any tests like College entrance examination.Otherwise, we will must meet him in the Chinese examination. In this Nobel Prize competition, Mr.Mo’s competitor is a famous Japanese writer Haruki Murakami(村上春树).People say that the reason why Haruki failed to get the prize is that he had writer a very famous book named Norwegian Wood. And if he named the book Sweden Wood, he would must defeat Mr.Mo.Of course, it is just a joke..王越;(此次获奖情况)Let’s get to the point..Two years ago, when the jail ed Chinese dissident(持不同意见者)won the Nobel Peace Prize, the government reacted with disappointed and angry, cleaning up the announcement from the Internet, expressing strong disapproval of the award as a “shame” and calling it a Western tool to insult the ruling Communist Party. But all that seemed forgotten on Thursday, when word came that another Nobel, the 2012 literature prize, had been awarded to another Chinese citizen, the internationally famous author , and China erupted into something close to a national celebration. The state-run CCTV interrupted its prime-time broadcast to announce the news;and in a glowing account, the state-run People’s Dailyprominently wrote that the prize was “a comfort, a certification (证明)and also an affirmation(肯定)— but even more so, it is a new starting point.”赵壮:(莫言本人)Who is Mo Yan?The son of farmers, Mr.Mo was born in 1955 on the dusty plains of China’s eastern Shandong Province, where much of his fiction is set.A teenager during the fuss(骚乱)of the Cultural Revolution, he left school to work first on a farm and then in a cottonseed(棉籽)oil factory. He began writing a few years later while serving in the People’s LiberationArmy. The author’s given name is Guan Moye;Mo Yan, which means “don’t speak,” is actually a pen name tha t reflects the time in which he grew up.“At that time in China, lives were not normal, so my father and mother told me not to speak outside,” he said at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2011.“If you speak outside, and say what you think, you will get into trouble. So I listened to them and did not speak.”王冰洋:(莫言的作品)Mr.Mo’s books have touched on many of contemporary China’s most sensitive themes, including the Cultural Revolution and the country’s strict family-planning policies. One of his most fa mous books, “The Garlic Ballads” written in 1988, describes a country person’s rebellion against government wrongdoing, telling it in a semi-mythical(半神话)fashion that avoids criticizing specific government officials. But the book came in the consequence of the 1989 student unrest, and was at first considered too biting(使刺痛的)and satirical(讽刺的)to publish, according to Howard Goldblatt, Mr.Mo’s American translator.Mr.Mo instead had the book printed in Taiwan;it waspublished later on the mainland.潘英伦:(结尾)Still, some have criticized Mr.Mo’s failure to take a political st summer, he was publicly denounced for joining a group of authors who transcribed by hand a 1942 speech by Mao Zedong. The speech, which ushered(引导)in decades of government control over Chinese writers and artists, has been described as a death warrant for those who refused to subsume their talents under the Communist Party. As Mo Yan had said at a speech:“A writer should express criticism and indignation at the dark side of society and the ugliness of human nature, but we should not use one uniform expression, some may want to shout on the street, but we should tolerate those who hide in their rooms and use literature to voice their opinions.”Ps:各位,这是我结合纽约时报上的一篇报道加上自己的一些修改和补充整理出来的一份初稿。

Good morning everyone,。
Today, I am going to talk about the importance of time management in our daily lives. Time management is a crucial skill that everyone should possess in order to be successful and achieve their goals. It is the process of planning and organizing how to divide your time between specific activities. Effective time management allows individuals to allocate their time to the activities that are most important to them, which can lead to increased productivity and success.First and foremost, time management helps us to prioritize our tasks and activities. With so many things competing for our time and attention, it is easy to become overwhelmed and lose focus. By managing our time effectively, we can identify what is most important andallocate our time and resources accordingly. This allows us to focus on the tasks that will help us achieve our goals and be more productive in the long run.Additionally, time management helps us to reduce stress and anxiety. When we have a clear plan and schedule for our day, we are less likely to feel overwhelmed by the demands of our work and personal lives. By setting aside specific time for each task, we can approach our responsibilities in a more organized and systematic way, which can help to reduce stress and improve our overall well-being.Furthermore, effective time management can lead to increased efficiency and productivity. When we manage our time well, we are able to complete tasks more quickly and effectively, which can lead to greater success in our personal and professional lives. What is learning?
Learning is something that most people do everyday of their lives, whether it be learning a new way to make a new dish at home or simply learning the basics such as how to get to a new location. However, for children that are in school, the first concept of leaning is knowing how to learn. This may seem as though this is something that should come natural. But, for many people the act of learning is something that they have to learn, otherwise they simply listen to the information and never really absorb it. Learning is not just memorizing facts and being able to call them up at any point in time, learning is being able to use what you know to apply it to your life and everyday situations. In essence, we could say that learning is really being able to use what you know and make it to where other people are going to understand it. So how can you learn to learn?

Life comes in a package. This package includes happiness and sorr ow, failure and success, hope and despair. Life is a learning proces s. Experiences in life teach us new lessons and make us a better p erson. With each passing day we learn to handle various situations. Love
Love plays a pivotal role on out life. Love makes you feel wanted. Witho ut love a person could go hayward and also bec ome cruel and ferocious. In the early stage of our life, our parents are the ones who shower us with unconditional love and care, they teach us about what is right and wrong, good and bad. But we always tend to take this for granted. It is only after marriage and having kids that a person understands and beco mes sensitive to others feelings. Kids make a person responsible and m ature and help us to understand life better.
Happiness and Sorrow
Materialistic happiness is short-lived, but happiness achieved by bringing a smile on others face gives a certain level of fulfillment. Peace of mind is the main link to happiness. No mind is happy without peace. We rea lize the true worth of happiness when we are in sorrow. Sorrow is basic ally due to death of a loved one, failure and despair. But these things a re temporary and pass away.
Failure and Success
Failure is the path to success. It helps us to touch the sky, teaches us to survive and shows us a specific way. Success brings in money, fame, pride and self-respect. Here it becomes very important to keep our hea d on out shoulder. The only way to show our gratitude to God for besto wing success on us is by being humble, modest, courteous and respectf ul to the less fortunate ones.
Hope and Despair
Hope is what keeps life going. Parents always hope their children will do well. Hope makes us dream. Hope builds in patience. Life teaches us n ot to despair even in the darkest hour, because after every night there i s a day. Nothing remains the same we have only one choice keep movi ng on in life and be hopeful.
Life teaches us not to regret over yesterday, for it has passed and is be yond our control. Tomorrow is unknown, for it could either be bright or d ull. So the only alternative is work hard today, so that we will enjoy a b etter tomorrow.
