I. John has contempt for money; Mark has respect for money.
II. John buys without hesitation; Mark hesitates and compares prices.
III.John buys what he wants; Mark buys what he can afford.
For the same example, John and Mark, Point-by-point (Horizontal) organization requires that you first write point A about John and Mark, followed with point B about John and Mark and lastly point C about John and Mark.
Block (Vertical) organization requires that you first write about John on points a, b, and c, and then contrast Mark with John on these same points
Decide on the Organization of Comparison/Contin a book is often very different from seeing it as a film. When you read a story, you need to use your imagination. A book usually gives a lot of description about the people, places, and things in the story, so you can create pictures in your mind. In addition, the conversations between people are always written with details that describe how the people look or feel while they are talking. When you read, you use a lot of imagination to help ‘see’ the characters in the story. However, when you see a film, it is a different experience. When you watch a film, you don’t need to use your imagination. The pictures on the screen give all the details about the people, places, and things in the story. The conversations are spoken out loud, so you just listen and watch. The feelings of the people come through their faces, body movements, and voices. Although a book and a film might tell the same story, reading a book and watching a film are very different experiences.
三者对比英语作文初二
三者对比英语作文初二英文回答:Comparison Essay: Analyzing the Differences and Similarities Between Three Concepts. When faced with the challenge of comparing and contrasting three distinct concepts, a systematic approach is essential. Firstly, it is imperative to define and understand each concept individually. This involves identifying their characteristics, attributes, and any potential relationships they may have with one another.Once the concepts have been clearly defined, the next step is to establish a framework for comparison. This framework can be based on specific criteria or aspects that are relevant to all three concepts. By examining the similarities and differences between these aspects, it is possible to identify patterns and draw meaningful conclusions. While exploring the differences between the concepts,it is essential to highlight the unique features and contrasting elements that distinguish each one. This may involve analyzing their opposing viewpoints, contrasting their historical contexts, or identifying their distinct advantages and disadvantages. It is important to provide evidence and examples to support the claims made about the differences.Equally important is examining the similarities between the concepts. This involves identifying shared characteristics, overlapping elements, or common themesthat connect them. By understanding the areas of convergence, it is possible to gain a deeper insight into the nature of the concepts and their potential relationships.Throughout the comparison and contrast process, it is crucial to maintain objectivity and avoid biases. The focus should be on presenting a balanced perspective that accurately reflects the similarities and differencesbetween the concepts. This involves carefully weighing the evidence, considering alternative viewpoints, andpresenting a well-rounded analysis. In conclusion, comparing and contrasting three distinct concepts requires a systematic and thoughtful approach. By defining the concepts, establishing a framework for comparison, analyzing their differences and similarities, and maintaining objectivity, it is possible to gain a comprehensive understanding of their unique characteristics and the relationships between them.中文回答:三者对比英语作文初二。

Both have their merits and shortcomings.Living in the city has a great many advantages. First, you can enjoy various kinds of foods, both foreign and domestic. Second, there are more cultural activities in the city –you can go to the concert, the theatre, the movies or the disco club after a day’s hard work. But city life has many problems, too. The overcrowded population, traffic jam, industrial pollution, and the lack of understanding between people may result in disease and unhappiness. Living in the country, however, you can watch the magnificent sunrise and sunset and listen to the bird singing in the tree.If you want, you can certainly have a huge garden when a small green space seems a luxury in the city. In the country, you don’t have so mucn worries. You can enjoy the pleasure of work by planting seeds in the earth and watching them grow into flowers and finally into fruits or food. But rural life may not be that perfect. Things are going so slowly that sometimes you may feel that you are absolute left behind in some remote corners of the world. You may again miss the parties, friends and movies in the city.Like anything else, country life and city life have their advantages and disadvantages. The best solution may be that you enjoy pleasures of both lives and get rid of their inconveniences.范文二:Middle School Life and College LifeThere are many differences between middle school and the college.First,in middle school,we have to listen to what the teacher says in class, to understand the content of the text. Comparison&Contrast
表示比较的两个词comparison & contrast的区别首先看看这两个词的含义comparison - When you compare things, you consider them and discover the difference or similarity between them.compare更侧重于比较事物间的共同点,发现他们不同的地方。
e.g. Compare with dogs, cats are cleaner. 猫比狗干净。
猫和狗都干净,比较而言猫更加干净。
就干净这一点,它们是有共同点的。
contrast - A contrast is a great difference between two or more things which is clear when you compare them.contrast更侧重于比较不同点e.g. Cats catch mice, by contrast, dogs don't. 猫捉老鼠,但是狗不捉老鼠。
这一点上,猫和狗大不相同。
很多时候,这两者可以连起来用。
请看在网上找到的这个例句e.g. Please compare and contrast education in China and America. 请对中国和美国的教育系统做一下对比。

四级对比观点类型英语作文
四级对比观点类型英语作文Here is an essay with more than 1000 words on the topic of "Comparison and Contrast Essay":One of the most common and effective types of academic essays is the comparison and contrast essay. This essay type allows writers to explore the similarities and differences between two or more subjects, ideas, or concepts. By carefully analyzing the comparative elements, writers can gain a deeper understanding of the topics and present their findings in a clear and organized manner. The comparison and contrast essay format is a valuable tool for both students and professionals, as it enables them to effectively communicate their ideas and insights. When writing a comparison and contrast essay, it is crucial to establish a clear basis for the comparison. This means identifying the specific aspects or characteristics of the subjects that will be examined. For example, if the essay is comparing two different types of transportation, the writer may choose to focus on factors such as cost, efficiency, environmental impact, and convenience. By establishing a clear basis for the comparison, the writer can ensure that the essay is focused and coherent.Another important aspect of the comparison and contrast essay is the use of organizational strategies. There are several common approaches that writers can use to structure their essays, including the block method and the point-by-point method. The block method involves discussing one subject in its entirety, followed by a discussion of the other subject. This approach can be effective when the subjects being compared are quite different or have a significant number of unique characteristics. The point-by-point method, on the other hand, involves alternating between the subjects, discussing a specific aspect or characteristic of each in turn. This approach can be effective when the subjects being compared have a high degree of similarity or when the writer wants to highlight the specific points of comparison or contrast.Regardless of the organizational approach chosen, the comparison and contrast essay should be structured in a clear and logical manner. The introduction should provide an overview of the essay's purpose and the subjects being compared, while the body paragraphs should present the specific points of comparison or contrast. The conclusion should then synthesize the information presented and draw a final conclusion or recommendation. One of the key benefits of the comparison and contrast essay is its ability to facilitate critical thinking and analysis. By examining thesimilarities and differences between two or more subjects, writers are forced to engage in a deeper level of analysis and evaluation. This process can lead to a better understanding of the topics at hand, as well as the development of critical thinking skills that can be applied to a wide range of academic and professional contexts.Additionally, the comparison and contrast essay can be a valuable tool for persuasive writing. By highlighting the key differences between two subjects, writers can make a compelling case for the superiority of one over the other. This can be particularly useful in fields such as business, marketing, or public policy, where the ability to effectively communicate and argue for a particular position is essential.Overall, the comparison and contrast essay is a versatile and valuable form of academic writing. Whether used for analytical, persuasive, or informative purposes, this essay type allows writers to effectively communicate their ideas and insights, while also developing critical thinking and communication skills that are essential for success in a wide range of academic and professional contexts.。
comparison and contrast
The Comparison and Contrast Paragraph■ Part One: IntroductionA comparison examines how two or more things are similar.A contrast looks at how two or more things are different.◆ It is important that the two things you want to compare and contrast belong to the same general class. For example, you probably would not want to compare and contrast a car and a celebrity. You could, however, compare and contrast the R&B Music and the Jazz Music.◆ To write a comparison or a contrast paragraph, identify the comparable points between two (or more) topics. Once you identify the points of comparison, brainstorm a list of similarities and differences for each one. Then, list and explain examples of each similarity or difference. What’s the Point of Comparison and Co ntrast?*What is the 1st comparable point?*What is the 2nd comparable point?*What is the 3rd comparable point?…Writing a Comparison ParagraphA comparison paragraph focuses on the similarities between the two topics. The first sentence of the paragraph is an introduction to the argument that these two topics are similar. The following sentences provide evidence to support the introductory sentence. Each sentence should be about one thing the two topics have in common. Students can write additional supporting sentences or transition sentences as needed. The last sentence in the paragraph is a closing sentence that should reinforce the writer's claim that the two topics are similar.Writing a Contrast ParagraphWhen writing a contrast paragraph, select one difference between the two topics and discuss this difference in depth. In this case the introductory sentence is more like a thesis statement and the following sentences provide details to support the argument. The closing sentence should reiterate the contrast between the two topics.Writing a Comparison and Contrast ParagraphSome assignments will ask students to both compare and contrast two topics. In this case, the introductory sentence must communicate that the two topics are both similar and different. Th e following sentences should include two similarities and two differences between the topics, and this information should be specific. The closing sentence should summarize the supporting evidence and reinforce the idea that the two topics are both similar and different.■ Part Two:Writing process◆1. Your First ThoughtsBrainstorm about the images you just studied. Set a time limit, such as five minutes, and write in your notebook about the images and the details you generated. Write as quickly as you can without stopping. Let the ideas flow freely. Getting your first thoughts about a topic on paper is one excellent way to kickstart your writing process.◆2. The Main Idea (A topic sentence)When you write a comparison or a contrast piece, you limit your thoughts to a set of topics based on their relationship to each other. Most likely you have an opinion or belief about the two topics and their comparable points. Your opinion is your point or main idea. In a comparison or contrast paragraph, youalso reveal your opinion by discussing the topics and their points of similarities or differences in the order of your own choosing. A topic sentence states the overall point of the comparison or the contrast between the two topics. For example, the following topic sentence contains (1) the comparable topics, (2) the writer’s opinion about the topic, and (3) the pattern of organization used to organize details.Even though Giada De Laurentiis and Rachael Ray are both celebrity chefs , their styles differ greatly. The comparable top ics are “Giada De Laurentiis” and “Rachael Ray, celebrity chefs.” The pattern of organization is established with words “even though” (transitional words that signal contrast) and “differ.” The writer’s opinion is stated with the clause “styles differ greatly.”PracticeDirections: Practice creating topic sentences. The first two items present a topic, an opinion, and comparison and contrast signal word(s). Combine the ideas to create a topic sentence for a comparison or a contrast. Then, complete the practice by making your own topic sentences.TOPIC:___________________________________________________________________________ OPINION:_________________________________________________________________________ COMPARISON OR CONTRAST SIGNAL WORDS: _______________________________________ TOPIC SENTENCE: ________________________________________________________________ ◆ 3. Two ways to develop comparison and contrastOne is called block arrangement (S ubject-by-subject) of ideas; the other is called point-by-point or alternating arrangement of ideas.Suppose you are interested in showing the differences between vacationing in the mountains and vacationing at the beach.block arrangementI. Introduction in which you state your purpose which is to discuss the differences betweenvacationing in the mountains or at the beach.II. II.MountainA. ClimateB. Types of ActivitiesC. LocationIII. III.BeachA. ClimateB. Types of ActivitiesC. Locationpoint-by-pointⅠ. Introduction in which you state your purpose which is to discuss differences between vacationing in the mountains or at the beachⅡ. First difference between mountains and beaches is climateA. MountainsB. BeachⅢ. Second difference between mountains and beaches are types of activitiesA. MountainsB. BeachIV.Third difference between mountains and beaches is the locationA. MountainsB. Beach◆ 4. Generate and Organize Relevant DetailsAs a writer narrows a topic into a focused main idea, the thinking process brings to mind many details.A writer evaluates the relevance of each detail and uses only those that clarify or support the main idea. In a comparison or contrast paragraph, some relevant major details include those that identify comparable topics or points. Relevant minor details offer examples and explanations of the similarities or differences between comparable points. Relevant details include descriptions, explanations, and examples of similarities or differences between two or more topics.◆ 5. Logical OrderTo make a point using comparison or contrast, a writer moves from a general idea to a major support (a comparable point about the topics) to minor supports (details or examples of the comparable point about the topics). To signal the movement among these levels of ideas, a writer uses transitions to signal similarities or differences and examples.Words That Signal Comparisonalike equally in the same way likewise similarity as well as resemble just as in a similar fashion similarly just like sameequal like in a similar way as similarWords That Signal Contrastalthough conversely differently on the other hand as opposed to despite even though most still on the one hand to the contrary in contrast difference nevertheless yet but different in spite of unlike on the contrary by contrast different from insteadeg. An athlete trains the body for competitions; likewise, a student trains the mind for final exams.Just as an athlete trains the body for competitions, a student trains the mind for final exams.Sample 1Similarities Between Work and SchoolWork and school are very much alike in at least five ways. First, both require an early start. Going to work requires getting up early to avoid the traffic rush, and going to school requires g etting up early to be assured of a parking space. Second, promptness is important in both places. Being at work on time pleases the employer; being in class on time pleases the instructor. Third, both involve quotas. A job imposes various quotas on a worker to ensure maximum production--for example, a certain amount of boxes must be filled on an assembly line, or a designated number of calls must be made by a telephone solicitor. Likewise, school imposes quotas on a student to ensure maximum effort--for instance, a certain number of essays must be written in an English composition class or a specific number of books must be read in an American Novel course. Fourth, both work and school deadlines must be met. On the job, the boxes would have to be filled and the telephone calls made by a certain time; in a class, the essays would have to be submitted and the books read by a certain date. Finally, both work and sc hool benefit society. Workers produce useful and entertaining items for people to use, such as refrigerators and televisions. Similarly, students prepare themselves to enter fields like medicine and law, fields which serve society. It is not surprising that work and school share these five similarities, since one of the purposes of school is to prepare a student for the job of his choice.Sample 2High School and CollegeEven though high school and college are both institutions of learning, they differ in at least three ways. The first difference between high school and college is their social atmospheres. In high school the facility is usually smaller, and students are, for the most part, well acquainted with each other. In addition, students in high school have the same six hour 7:45 to 1:45 day, thus helping them to know one another better. On the college scene people are constantly coming and going, therefore rarely seeing the same person twice in a day, which accounts for fewer people being acquainted with each other. The second difference between high school and college is their policies about homework. In high school, homework is required to help motivate students to study. Knowing they have to submit assignments in algebra or history gives students an incentive to keep up with these subjects. In college most homework consists of studying; very little of it is written and turned in. If students do their homework, it is to their advantage; if they do not, the teachers will not force them to do it. The student is only wasting his own money if he neglects his course work. The third and last difference between high school and college is their attendance policies. In high school, students must attend class to get assignments and personal help in a certain area. Furthermore, high school students are less responsible; therefore, they need more guidance, which they can receive by going to class. In college, students may skip classes if they choose and refer to the syllabus to acquire missed assignments or test s. It is the student’s responsibility to make work up. In spite of these differences between high school and college, they both serve the same purpose -- to prepare an individual for the real world.。

On the other hand, Mr. Dickens mumbles, running his words together. // ③Mr. Joyce also adds humor to the subject and sometimes makes jokes in class, whereas Mr. Dickens, with an expressionless face, is always serious about each lesson. //④ Mr. Joyce welcomes questions from students who don’t understand the material, He is very enthusiastic about his subject; he tries to make sure that his students understand a concept before he moves on to something new. 2.1 To examine one thing thoroughly and then
start the other.
• Focus: The aspects examined in the two things should be identical and in the same order.
In spite of these differences, the similarities are striding. First, both cities are the political centers of their countries. The president of France lives in the heart of Paris, in the Elysees Palace. Likewise, the president of the United States has its meeting place in Washington, in the Capitol. Second, the two cities look similar. L’Enfant, the French engineer who designed Washington, was greatly influenced by the layout of the capital of France. For this reason, many of the buildings and monuments in Washington are symmetrically located in views of one another, just as they are in Paris. Both cities are also the sites of magnificent monuments, important historical landmarks, fine museums, beautiful parks, and board, treelined avenues. Finally, tourism is as important for Washington as it is for Paris Every year millions of tourists from all parts of the world visit these cities to view their attractions

英语作文中国春节与西方圣诞节的比较与对比
英语作文中国春节与西方圣诞节的比较与对比The Comparison and Contrast Between Chinese Spring Festival and Western ChristmasAs two significant cultural events, the Chinese Spring Festival and Western Christmas share a great deal of similarities but also have their unique characteristics. Both festivals are steeped in tradition and are celebrated with much joy and enthusiasm. The first striking similarity between these two festivals is their focus on family. The Spring Festival in China is a time for families to reunite, regardless of how far they may be from home. Similarly, Christmas in the West is a time for families to gather, exchange gifts, and enjoy a festive meal together. The sense of warmth and belonging that these festivals bring to families is universal. However, the origins and traditions surrounding these festivals differ greatly. The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year, marks the beginning of a new lunar year. It is a time for cleansing and renewal, symbolizing the hope for a prosperous and happy year ahead. The festival is filled with various customs, such as setting off fireworks, giving red envelopes, and eating reunion dinners. On the other hand, Christmas has a religious origin, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a time for Christians to remember the teachings of Jesus and to give thanks for the blessings in their lives. The festival is marked by the exchange of gifts, caroling, and the decoration of homes with Christmas trees and other festive adornments.Another notable difference is the duration of the celebrations. The Spring Festival celebrations in China last for several days, with each day having its own special significance and customs. In contrast, Christmas celebrations in the West are typically concentrated on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, although the festive spirit may continue for a few days afterwards. In conclusion, while the Chinese Spring Festival and Western Christmas share a common focus on family and joy, they differ significantly in their origins, traditions, and duration of celebrations. Both festivals are deeply ingrained in their respective cultures and represent a time of reunion, joy, and hope for a better future.。

对比和衬托手法作文
对比和衬托手法作文英文回答:Comparison and contrast is a common writing technique used to analyze and discuss the similarities and differences between two or more subjects. This technique allows the writer to explore the relationships between the subjects and highlight their unique characteristics. For example, when comparing two different types of music, I can discuss how both jazz and classical music have complex rhythms and melodies, but jazz tends to be more improvisational while classical music is more structured. By using specific examples and details, I can effectively illustrate the similarities and differences between the two genres. On the other hand, the technique of juxtaposition is used to highlight the differences between two subjects by placing them side by side. This allows the reader to seethe contrast more clearly and understand the implicationsof these differences. For instance, if I were to write a piece on the juxtaposition of urban and rural landscapes, I could describe the bustling city streets with their tall skyscrapers and constant noise, and then contrast that with the peaceful countryside, with its open fields and quiet atmosphere. This would allow me to effectively convey the differences between the two environments and the impactthey have on people's lives.Overall, both comparison and contrast and juxtaposition are valuable writing techniques that allow for a deeper exploration of the subjects being discussed.中文回答:对比和衬托是常用的写作手法,用来分析和讨论两个或更多主题之间的相似之处和差异。

The comparison and contrast between two people
Lala and Jane are two of my roommates. After getting along with them for nearly two semesters.I feel I have comprehensive understandings of the two girls.
Lala and Jane are of the similar height, maybeLala is slightly shorter than Jane. Both of them are slim.As for the color of the skin,Jane has wheat color skin, which looks somewhat healthier.Differently,Lala has white and ruddy skin, which makes her lovely. They have similar hairstyles. While Jane’s hair is more bushy.
However, the difference of their appearance is not so obvious, compared with their characteristics.Their character is like the poles of the magnetic field. My first impression of Lala is that she is a gentle shy girl.On the contrary. At first sight, I suppose that Jane is a generous and cheerful girl, maybe this is related to the fact that she is from the
north.Their opposite attitudes towards strangers are convincing reflection. When they went out together,if they need to ask for help.Jane is always the one in the initiative, andLala always keep waiting quietly.Under such circumstance, they are like hens and chicks. The mother hen solve all the difficulties and build safe shelter for the chickens.Suchmotopher may not be so appropriate, but it substantially reflects theirmode of getting along.
In addition,Their preferences are also la is more like a literary young woman. She is considered to be very ingenuity and considerate. She likes painting, reading and listening to gentle music. Her hobbies are static. She is so patient and quiet that she can even spend a whole day immersing in her own world. In contrast to Lala’sbehavior.Jane is totally on the opposite side. She was always full of energy. She likes listening to dynamic music, which makes her feel in high spirits. She
also has great passion in attending physical activities such as volleyball and running.Jane participated in various community activities, she is always planning activities, making PPTs and preparing interviews. So,there is no doubt that she is the most busy guy in our dorm.。
