Guide for the use of HANS® in international motor sportThe HANS® (Head And Neck Support) head restraintIssue: 01/07/20071. Choosing a HANS®HANS® devices exist not only in different sizes but with different angles between the yoke and collar. The manufacturer or supplier should be consulted on the best model for the motor sport activity and car concerned.2. Safety harness with HANS®2.1 The safety belts must be homologated to the FIA standards and it is strongly recommended to use only 6 point harnesses homologated to FIA standard 8853/98; these must NOT feature energy conversion in the shoulder straps (asm® - Anti submarining) EXCEPT if 4-point, in which case asm®may be of benefit.Harness models are homologated with the standard shoulder strap width of 75mm, as well as a special width of 50mm marked "for HANS® use only": either model may be used.2.2 The length adjustment device of the shoulder belt shall be positioned on the HANS® yoke with the upper edge not more than 70mm from the lower edge of the HANS® yoke as shown in Figure 1 (this does not apply in the case of the double shoulder belt system described in point 2.5).2.3 The shoulder strap anchorage points on the car shall be symmetrical about the centre line of the driver’s seat. When viewed from above, the angle between the belts shall be approximately 20°-25° as shown in Figure 2.Figure 2. Correct position of shoulder strap length adjustment device on HANS® yoke XZY 20 -25Max.70mmThis can be achieved with reference to the values in Tables 1 to 4 which have been calculated based on 75mm wide belts (values for 50mm wide belts are shown in brackets) and four HANS®collar sizes: 120mm, 140mm, 160mm and 180mm. Negative values indicate that the belts are crossed. These values should be closely respected, but a tolerance of +/-20 mm would be acceptable. Belt movement in the anchorages should be taken into account.The values in red (underlined) denote that theoretical separation is less than belt width. In this case it is recommended that the belts are installed side by side to avoid any overlap; hence the actual separation shall be equal to the belt width. Measurement of HANS collar widthDefinitions for the reference values:-dimension Z (mm) = width of the HANS® collar, as shown in Figures 2 and 3-dimension X (mm) = distance from the rear edge of the HANS®-belt-bearing-surface tothe car attachment point (mm) as shown in Figure 2-dimension Y (mm) = separation of the centres of the two shoulder straps at the carattachment points (mm) as shown in Figure 2Z2.4 The rear section of the shoulder strap should slope downwards from the uppermost point ofcontact with the HANS®-belt-bearing-surface to the anchorage point on the car, preferably at about 20° below the horizontal, angles between 0° and 20° being acceptable as shown in Figure 4.In accordance with Article 253-6 of Appendix J to the International Sporting Code it is particularly important to prevent any lateral movement of the belt anchorage points by the application of adequate provisions. Screw inserts in conformity with Article 253-6 of Appendix J are recommended.2.5 Double shoulder belt system: a safety harness system with two straps on each shoulder is homologated by the FIA and may be used. It provides one body-belt that is positioned on the driver's shoulders (beneath the HANS®) and a second HANS®-belt that is positioned on the HANS®yokes (as for standard HANS® use). It is important that the HANS®-belt is at least as tight as the body-belt. A drawing of the double belt system is shown in Figure 5.Figure 4. Side view to show recommended belt anglesFigure 5. Double shoulder belt system20f or r ec l i n ed se a t in g70+1060+1020HANS beltBody beltFor Formula Cars and other cars where the shoulder belt anchorage is less than 200mm behind the rear edge of the HANS®-belt-bearing-surface (ie X < 200 mm), the body-belt anchorage points should be positioned 60mm +/- 15mm below the HANS®-belt anchorage points (see Figure 6).For closed cars and other cars where the shoulder belt anchorage is more than 200mm behind the rear edge of the HANS®-belt-bearing-surface (ie X > 200 mm), the body-belt anchorage points should be the same height as the HANS®-belt anchorage points (see Figure 7).In both cases (X < 200mm and X > 200mm), the HANS®-belts should be installed as detailed in sections 2.3 and 2.4.If the HANS®-belts and body-belts are installed on the same roll cage tube, the HANS®-belts shall respect the dimensions in Tables 1 to 4 and should be attached to the tube inboard of the body-belts, as shown in Figure 7. The body-belts may, exceptionally, be installed with a greater dimension Y if necessary to accommodate this, up to the point of being parallel to each other, but not divergent.Figure 6. Installation of HANS® double belts in cars where (X = > 200mm)60mm +/- 15mmBody-beltHANS-beltWhen using double shoulder belts, there MUST be a minimum distance B between the lower edge of the HANS®-yokes and the merging of the two belts where the HANS®-belt is sewn to the body-belt (see figure 8).ABFigure 8. Minimum distance between HANS® yokes and double-shoulder belt merge point The minimum distance B shall be determined as follows:-the driver shall be seated in the car in the normal driving position, wearing the HANS® and helmet and with the safety harness fastened;-the driver should lean his/her body and head forward as far as possible - in this position the horizontal distance from the front surface of the HANS®-collar to the rearmost point of the helmet shall be measured (distance A);-minimum distance B = 100mm – distance A.3. Preparation of HANS®3.1 The upper surface of the HANS®'a8 shall be covered in a high friction rubber to grip the lower surface of the shoulder straps. If the HANS®'a8 is painted (only in conformity with the manufacturer's instructions) it is essential that the rubber is left completely uncovered to ensure that the friction with the shoulder belts is not compromised. Any painted HANS®'a8 shall respect the flame resistance requirement of FIA Standard 8858-2002. The condition of the rubber surface should be monitored – no breakage, ripping, tears or other damage is acceptable. In case of repair, it shall be done strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.3.2 It is recommended that the surface of the HANS®'a8 in contact with the driver’s body is padded for comfort. Approved foams, gel-pads and air-pads are permitted and it is recommended that the padding is covered in flame retardant material. The maximum thickness is 15mm. When using air-pads it is recommended that a thin gel-pad is added with strong double sided tape to the lower surface of the HANS®'a8 such that in the event of deflation of the air-pad, there will be some residual comfort padding.4. Headrests and cockpit surrounds with HANS®In order to ensure compatibility with the rear headrest, sufficient clearance is necessary between the rear of the HANS® and the seatback bulkhead or top of the seat. The minimum necessary is 25mm. A growth model with shocks to technology is studied. Labor is indivisible, so all variability in hours worked is due to fluctuations in the number employed. We find that, unlike previous equilibrium models of the business cycle, this economy displays large fluctuations in hours worked and relatively small fluctuations in productivity. This finding is independent of individuals’ willingness to substitute leisure across time. This and other findings are the result of studying and comparing summary statistics describing this economy, an economy with divisible labor, and post-war U.S. time series.

IntroductionThe module MOD520C with its integrated and optional peripherals, based on the 32 Bit AMD ÉlanSC520 microcontroller, is designed for medium to high performance applications in telecommunication, data communication and information appliances on the general embedded market. It can easily be designed in customized boards.The AMD ÉlanSC520 microcontroller combines a low voltage 586 CPU running on 133 MHz, including FPU (Floating Point Unit) with a set of integrated peripherals: 32 Bit PCI controller, SDRAM controller for up to 256 MByte, GP (General Purpose) bus with programmable timing and ROM/Flash controller. Enhanced PC compatible peripherals like DMA controller, two UARTs and battery buffered RTC and CMOS, watchdog and software timers make this device a very fast system for both real time and PC/AT compatible applications. Insyde Software’s Mobile BIOS is available which offers serial and parallel remote features (video, keyboard, floppy). Furthermore FS FORTH-SYSTEME has adapted Datalight Sockets (TCP/IP Stack), ROM-DOS and the Flash File System FlashFX to this environment.The MOD520C offers the software engineer the possibility to reduce the time-to-market phase even more. FS FORTH-SYSTEME added several features on-board as SDRAM (up to 64 MByte), PCI Fast Ethernet controller to facilitate networking and remote control. A Strata-FLASH for booting and data is included on board. Two CAN Ports are additionally available for communication. 512 Kbyte SRAM is available for battery buffered data. The enhanced JTAG port for low-cost debugging is supported. This allows instruction tracing during execution. FS FORTH-SYSTEME has adapted Windows CE 3.0 to this platform and offers drivers and support. With Ethernet debugging the software designer has powerful means for fast debugging his applications.Due to the 16 MByte FLASH it is possible to build larger, complete systems on this module like Linux, QNX or VxWorks.4Mod520C_252. CPU AMD ÉlanSC520The CPU AMD ÉlanSC520 is powered with 2.5V (core and analog path) and 3.3V (all other voltages) except VRTC, which is powered with about 3V either from battery or from on-board 3.3V. This voltage is limited to 3.3V, the other 3.3V power planes have a limit of 3.6V.The CPU is clocked with a 32.768 kHz quartz. An internal PLL derives from this frequency the RTC clock and DRAM refresh clock and the clocks for PC/AT compatible PIT (1.1882 MHz) and UARTs (18.432 MHz). All other stages (CPU, PCI, GP bus, GP DMA, ROM, SSI, timers) are fed from the second clock generator driven by a 33.33 MHz clock oscillator. SDRAM is clocked with 66.66 MHz.3.1.2. SDRAM stageThe SDRAM (up to 128 MByte on-board) has its own DRAM bus containing memory addresses MA0..12, memory data MD0..31 and control signals for up to four banks. Due to small load no buffering of clocks and signals is necessary.3.1.3. ROM stageROM or FLASH are driven by the general purpose address bus GPA0..25. It has three programmable chip selects with each up to 64 MByte range. The ROM Data bus is either the 32 bit general purpose bus GPD0..31 or the memory data bus MD0..31. Configuration pins decide, which bus at boot time is used. The bus size is selectable with 8, 16 or 32 bit. The MOD520C has a FLASH IC for up to 16 MByte 16 bit ROM or FLASH selected by BOOTCS# connected to MD0..15. 3.1.4. SRAM stageThe SRAM (512 KByte on-board) is buffered by VBAT. The Memory Location is defined in the System BIOS. ROMCS1# is used to access the SRAM.6Mod520C_23.1.5. 32 I/O PortsThe ÉlanSC520 CPU has 32 I/O ports. They have alternate functions. Most of them are control signals for GP bus (PIO0..26) used as ISA-bus. PIO27 (GPCS0#) is used as a programmable external chip select and PIO28,29 are not connected. PIO30,31 are used to drive a serial parameter EEPROM on-board. 3.1.6. 256 Byte EEPROM for BIOS and Applications on PIO30,31An on-board serial EEPROM with 256 byte and I2C bus is controlled by PIO30 (I2CDAT) and PIO31 (I2CCLK). 128 byte are used for non-volatile BIOS defaults, the remaining range may contain application specific data and parameters. The BIOS contains calls to read and write to this memory (see BIOS documentation).3.1.7. On-board Power SupplyThe 2.5V on-board voltage is generated from +5V.An external battery may be connected to the signal VBATIN. Battery status is controlled by BBATSEN, which sets a power fail bit in a status register for RTC, if BBATSEN is low at power-up.3.1.8. Voltage Supervision, RESET GenerationThree voltages are used on board: +2.5V, +3.3V and +5V. U2 controls +5V and U10 controls +3.3V. LBOUT or PWRGOOD will become low, if these voltages are out of tolerance. An external SRESET# is wired or-ed to U10. It can also be activated from extended JTAG signal SRESET# via X1. The wired OR of 1RESET# and 2RESET# control U10. Its output PWRGOOD is low (not active), if either the signals described above from U10 are low or +5V is out of tolerance. Typical length of PWRGOOD low is longer than 1 sec (minimum 790 msec).3.1.9. Serial PortsThe AMD ÉlanSC520 CPU has two internal asynchronous ports and one synchronous serial port. Both of this ports are available at the System Connectors.7Mod520C_23.1.10. Fast Ethernet Controller StageConnected to the PCI bus device 0 (REQ/GNT0#) of the Élan SC520 CPU, a Fast Ethernet Controller U7 supports 10/100Mbps transfer depending on driver software. X3 is a JST B5B-PH-SM3 5 pin connector. Parameters as physical address and power down modes are stored in a 64X16 bit Serial EEPROM controlled by U7. 2 status LEDs LE1, LE2 show the state of the Ethernet connection. For a more detailed hardware and software description see Intel 82559ER manual.3.1.11. Dual CAN Controller StageThe CAN Controller is selected via ROMCS1# and the Memory location is selectable in the BIOS Setup Screen. The CAN Interrupt provided by 82C900 is inverted by the onboard Lattice CPLD. Since the Interrupt asserted by the 82C900 is only a low active pulse of 0.2µs the CPLD holds the interrupt active until the software accesses the Memory at the location CAN-Base+1xxh. The BIOS routes this interrupt to IRQ11.8Mod520C_2 3.1.12. GP Bus used for ISA BusThe AMD ÉlanSC520 CPU contains an 8/16bit General Purpose Bus (GP bus) with 26 address lines (GPA0..25), 16 data lines (GPD0..15) and different control lines using PIO ports in their alternate GP bus function. Its timing is programmable for speeds up to 33MHz. This bus is to emulate a 16 bit ISA bus (PC/104) running with 8 MHz. ISA bus signal are connected without buffers directly to the lines of the CPU due to the 5V tolerance of the 3.3V signals.8 bit signals SMEMRD# and SMEMWR# (active only at addresses beyond 1 MByte) are not supported (GPMEM_RD# and GPMEM_WR# used).The AMD ÉlanSC520 CPU has only 4 DMA channels on GP bus. DMA channel 2 is used for Super-I/O (U2) on EVAMOD520. Important Signals5.2.13. PCICLKRTN PCICLK PCICLKETHERPCICLK is the clock source for the PCI-Bus. PCICLKETHER is the clock input for the Ethernet Controller. PCICLKRTN is the clock input of the AMD Élan Sc520. This pin is used to synchronize the CPU with the external PCI-Bus. Therefore it is important that all clock traces have the same length to provide each PCI-Target with the clock at the same time. Trace length of each of this clocks is 68mm on the module. If you do not plan to connect an additional PCI-Target on your board you just add a serial resistor 33R between PCICLK and PCICLKRTN and one between PCICLK and PCICLKETHER.5.2.14. ISA-Bus SignalsIf you use the ISA-Bus Signals you have to add some resistors to the following Signals:GPD0 – GPD15 4k7 pull upGPRDY1k pull downIRQ´s10k pull upDRQ´s10k pull down145.2.15. CAN-Interrupt IRQ11IRQ11 is used for the CAN-Controller 82C900 and is not sharable. Since the interrupt provided by 82C900 is a low active pulse with a length of 0.2µs the CPLD inverts this signal and holds it until the software acknowledges the interrupt. To acknowledge this interrupt the software has to access a memory location with the offset 1xxh to the CAN-Base. Life of HANS® (13)ForewordA Frontal Head Restraint (FHR) device restrains the driver’s head relative to his torso during a frontal or angled-frontal impact thereby, reducing the loads to the head and neck.There are different Different types of FHR systems are approved;, one of them being the HANS®. This document aims to give some basic guidelines on the aspects to take into account when selecting and using a HANS® for racing competitions. These guidelines apply to HANS® approved according to FIA Standards 8858-2002 and 8858-2010 that are included in Technical List n°29 available in on the FIA website under the homologations section.1.HANS® selectionWhen choosing a HANS® device there are safety aspects that need to be considered. In addition comfort and weight will also help on in the selection. Drivers must ensure that they use an appropriate HANS® device. Specifically, the HANS® collar angle and HANS® width shall be appropriate for the seated sitting position and the driver’s size.1.1.HANS® anglesHANS® devices exist not only in different sizes, but also with different angles between the yoke (part of the HANS® in contact with the driver’s shoulders and chest) and collar (part of the HANS® located behind the driver’s helmet). Normally HANS® devices exist in a range of angles between 10° and to 40°, and sizes from small to large. The manufacturer or distributor should be consulted on the best model for the motor sport activity and car concerned regarding seating position and body shape. When seated in the racing position with its harnesses tightened, the HANS® collar angle must be between 60° and 90° from the horizontal (see Figure 1 and Figure 2).Figure 1 Collar angleFigure 2 Examples of incorrect and correct HANS® anglesThe HANS® device may lightly contact the helmet, but if the HANS® collar angle is greater higher than 90° from the horizontal (the top of the collar is pointing forward instead of pointing backwards) a more upright device may be required (for example from a 30° HANS® to a 20 HANS®).The HANS® device may lightly contact the seat or headrest but if the HANS® pushes the head forward uncomfortably, the HANS® collar top goes backwards in an angle from the horizontal lower than 60°, a HANS® model with a higher angle may be required (for example from a 20° HANS® to a 30 HANS®).The next drawing Figure 3 shows an indication of model s angles according to sitting position.Figure 3 HANS® models denomination according to sitting position1.2.HANS® wings or tabsSome HANS® models have a small tab at the upper part of the HANS-yoke on the side, in order to reduce the lateral movement of the shoulder belts (see Figure 4). If the driver is facing problems of the shoulder belt tending to come out of the HANS-yoke, these models may reduce this effect (see also Article 4.2.4 4.2.3).Figure 4 HANS® device model with small tabs on the side of the upper surface of the yokes1.3.HANS-yoke s bracketsThe FIA authorises the HANS® device manufacturer s to add brackets to the bottom part of the HANS-yoke (see Figure 5) in order to prevent the shoulder straps from coming out of the HANS-yoke (see also Article 4.2.4 4.2.3). The manufacturer or supplier should be consulted on the models with this option available.Figure 5 HANS® device with additional small brackets at the yokes2.Preparation of a the HANS® deviceThe body of the HANS® Device must never be modified but there are some aspects that can be taken into account to prepare the HANS®.2.1.Friction rubberThe surface of the HANS-yokes in contact with the harness belt must be provided by the manufacturer covered with a high friction rubber to grip the lower surface of the shoulder straps. The friction material should shall not be removed. The condition of the rubber surface should shall be monitored – no breakage, ripping, tears or other damage is acceptable. In case of repair, it must be done only if the manufacturer so recommends,so and strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. In case a rubber replacement is possible, the FIA strongly recommends that for this operation to be carried out by device’s manufacturer.If the HANS® is painted (only in conformity with the manufacturer's instructions) it is essential that the rubber is shall be left completely uncovered to ensure that the friction with the shoulder belts is not compromised. Any painted HANS® must respect the flame resistance requirement of FIA Standards 8858-2002 and 8858-2010.2.2.PaddingPadding is authorised only in the between the device and the driver. It is recommended that the surface of the HANS® in contact with the driver’s body is padded for comfort. Any padding used between the driver and the HANS-yoke must not be more than 15 mm thick when the driver is seated in the car fully equipped with the harness tightened. The padding must be covered by aflameproof material, and the padding must not be wider than 8 mm on each side of the HANS-yoke as shown in Figure 6 (see Article 3.1 of the Chapter III “Drivers’ Equipment” of the Appendix L to the International Sporting Code).Figure 6 Examples of incorrect and correct HANS® padding2.3.FHR tether s lengthIt is not recommended to fit the FHR tether(s) very short and tight.There are HANS® devices with sliding tethers and HANS® devises devices with fixed tethers. In case of fixed tethers, the two tethers should be adjusted to the same length.A nominal length is 150mm. A tolerance of +/- 25mm is acceptable. The nominal length shall be measured as follows following:-the driver shall be seated in the car in the normal driving position, wearing the HANS® and helmet, and with the safety harness fastened;-the driver should lean his/her body and head forward as far as possible - in this position the length must be measured from the leading edge of the HANS collar to the point of connection to the outside of the helmet.The condition of the FHR tether(s), including the FHR end-fitting and clamping brackets, and the screws securing them to the back of the HANS® should shall be closely monitored, and they should shall be replaced if any wear is observed.Please refer to FIA Technical List No. 29 for further details of approved tether end fittings and their marking.3.Helmets to use with a n HANS® deviceAn FIA-approved helmet according to FIA standards 8858-2002, 8858-2010, 8860-2004, 8860-2010, 8860-2018 or 8859-2015 is required. Please refer to FIA Technical Lists 33, 41, 49and 49 69 for a full list of helmets approved for FHR use (including the HANS® use). Helmets with an FIA label 8858-2002 or 8858-2010 are only valid when they also have a Snell sticker. Therefore, only helmets with a Snell valid certification can be acceptable.It is important to take into consideration the following dates:•Helmets approved in accordance with SA2005 certification will not be valid after 31.12.2018 even if they have a FIA 8858-2002 or 8858-2010 label. Technical list 41 details to what Snell standard the homologation was based on.•Helmets approved according to FIA standard 8860-2004 will not be valid after 31.12.2020•Helmets approved according to FIA standards 8858-2002 or 8858-2010 will not be valid after31.12.2023, independently of what Snell Certification they may have.The HANS® device shall always be used together with the helmet and shall be properly fitted (FHR tether end fittings clipped on the helmet and HANS-yoke under the seat belt).Therefore, whenever a helmet is not worn, for example on rally liaison sections, the HANS® shall also be removed also.4.Installation4.1.SeatsWhen using a HANS® with a saloon salon car, a safety seat s homologated according to FIA standard 8855-1999, 8855-2021 or 8862-2009 must be used.In these cases, it is important to make sure that the shoulder straps run freely between the seat shoulder slots. It is therefore recommended to centre the belt traps straps in the slots so such that they do not touch the edges of the slots, as shown in Figure 7.Figure 7 Example of incorrect ly and correct ly positioning of the harness straps in the seat slotsAs commented described in section 1.1, the seat may determine define the HANS® angle to be used.4.2.HarnessThe safety belts to be used must be minimum five-point harnesses homologated to FIA standard 8853/98 or 8853-2016.Drivers must ensure that the harness they remain s properly tightened all the time, and that the HANS® is under the shoulder straps as shown in Figure 8 (see next section 4.2.1 for exception of the double shoulder belt harnesses).Figure 8 Example of incorrect ly and correct ly positioning of the harness straps when using a HANS® Teams shall pay particular attention to the installation of the shoulder straps and the position of the buckle.The buckle position is regulated by Article 253.6.2 of Appendix J to the 2022 2016 FIA International Sporting Code. See below extract of the related regulation:“Article 253.6 Safety Belts(…)The lap straps must fit tightly in the bend between the pelvic crest and the upper thigh. Under no conditions must they be worn over the region of the abdomen.”Some teams tend to fit bungees bungies on the shoulder belts in order to move them to the side of the seat. However, this also moves the shoulder belt sideway s, so such that the belt comes out of the HANS-yoke. Competitors shall Do NOT fit bungies on the shoulder belts.4.2.1.Harness restrictionsHANS® device can be used with harness models that are homologated with the standard shoulder strap width of a minimum of 70mm, as well as with models that are homologated with specific shoulder strap width of a minimum of 44mm, and that are marked "for FHR use only" or "for HANS use only".FIA Homologated double shoulder belt systems are also allowed. These They are safety harness system s with two straps on each shoulder. They provide one body-belt that is positioned on the driver's shoulders (beneath the HANS®) and a second HANS-belt that is positioned on the HANS-yokes (as for standard HANS® use). It is important that the HANS-belt is at least as tight as the body-belt. An example of the double belt system is shown in Figure 9.Figure 9 Double shoulder belt system4.2.2.Position of adjusters for harnesses with 5, 6 or 7 attachment pointsto the vehicleIf the length adjustment device of the shoulder belt is positioned on the HANS-yoke then the upper edge must be not more than 70mm from the lower edge of the HANS-yoke as shown in Figure 10 (this does not apply in the case of the double shoulder belt system described in point 4.2.1).If the length adjustment device of the shoulder belt is positioned between the HANS-yoke and buckle, it must be lower than the HANS-yoke by at least by 25mm.Figure 10 Correct position of shoulder strap length adjustment device on HANS-yoke4.2.3.Position of adjusters for harnesses with 8 or 9 attachment pointsto the vehicleWhen using double shoulder belts, there MUST be a minimum distance (B) between the lower edge of the HANS-yokes and the merging of the two belts where the HANS-belt is sewn to the body-belt (see Figure 11).Figure 11 Minimum distance between HANS-yokes and double-shoulder belt merge pointThe minimum distance (B) shall be determined as follows:-the driver shall be seated in the car in the normal driving position, wearing the HANS® and helmet and with the safety harness fastened;-the driver should lean his/her body and head forward as far as possible - in this position the horizontal distance from the front surface of the HANS-collar to the rearmost point of the helmet shall be measured (distance (A));-minimum distance B = 100mm – distance (A).4.2.4.Shoulder belt angles for harnesses with 5, 6 or 7 attachment pointsto the vehicle – top viewThe shoulder belt anchorage points on the car shall be symmetrical about the centre center line of the driver’s seat. When viewed from above, it is recommended that the angle between the belts be approximately 20°-25°, as shown in Figure 12 and never out of the 10°-25° range. The body-belts may, exceptionally, be installed with a greater dimension Y if necessary to accommodate this, up to the point of being parallel to each other, but not divergent.4.3.Headrests and cockpit surrounds with HANS®In order to ensure compatibility with the rear headrest, sufficient clearance is necessary between the rear of the HANS® and the seatback bulkhead or top of the seat. The HANS® worn by the driver may not be less than 25mm away from any structural part of the car when seated in the normal driving position.4.4.Car evacuation with HANS®It is essential to practice rapid evacuations from the car with full race equipment fitted (including race attire, steering wheel, radio system and drink ing system if applicable). This will help to ensure successful emergency evacuation, in the case of an accident.5.Life of HANS®Always follow the instructions of the manufacturer for the maintenance of the HANS®.After frontal impacts, or frontal impacts with a yaw angle of up to 45°, impacts the tethers should shall be replaced or sooner if wear is observed.After a severe impact that involves loading of the HANS®, it is recommended to inspect the helmet and HANS®. The respective manufacturers may be able to provide an inspection service to determine whether the helmet or HANS® has suffered any damage during less severe impacts.An accident is considered severe if it is a frontal or frontal with an angle impact with the estimated impact speed over 50kph.。
