Ladies and gentlemen,Good morning/afternoon/evening. Today, I am honored to stand before you to talk about the evolution and impact of electronic devices. As we all know, electronic devices have become an integral part of our lives, and their influence can be seen in every aspect of our society. In this speech, I will discuss the history of electronic devices, their development, and the significant impact they have had on our lives.I. The History of Electronic DevicesThe history of electronic devices dates back to ancient times when people used simple tools and gadgets to aid in their daily tasks. However, it was not until the 19th century that the concept ofelectronic devices began to take shape.1. The early days of electronicsIn the early 19th century, scientists and inventors began to experiment with electrical currents and magnetic fields. One of the mostsignificant milestones in this period was the invention of the electric telegraph by Samuel Morse in 1837. This device allowed for the transmission of messages over long distances using a series ofelectrical signals.2. The rise of radio and televisionThe 20th century saw the rapid development of electronic devices, particularly in the fields of radio and television. In 1906, Guglielmo Marconi successfully transmitted the first wireless radio signal across the Atlantic Ocean, paving the way for global communication. The invention of television in the 1920s further revolutionized the way we consume information and entertainment. The first television broadcast took place in 1927, and since then, it has become an indispensable part of our lives.3. The digital revolutionThe 21st century has witnessed an unprecedented surge in the development of electronic devices, driven by the digital revolution. The rise of personal computers, smartphones, and tablets has transformed the way we work, communicate, and entertain ourselves.II. The Development of Electronic DevicesThe development of electronic devices has been characterized by several key trends:1. MiniaturizationOne of the most significant trends in the development of electronic devices has been miniaturization. As technology advances, electronic devices have become smaller, lighter, and more portable. This has made them more accessible to a wider audience and has allowed for new applications in various fields.2. ConnectivityThe proliferation of electronic devices has led to an increase in connectivity. Today, we can easily connect to the internet and communicate with people across the globe using our smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This connectivity has fostered a global community and has enabled the sharing of information and ideas on an unprecedented scale.3. IntelligenceAnother trend in the development of electronic devices is the increasing level of intelligence. Today, we have smart devices that can perform complex tasks and learn from our behavior. This has led to moreefficient and convenient ways of living, as well as new opportunitiesfor innovation and development.III. The Impact of Electronic Devices on Our LivesElectronic devices have had a profound impact on our lives, transforming various aspects of our society:1. CommunicationElectronic devices have revolutionized the way we communicate. We can now send messages, make calls, and video chat with people across the globe in real-time. This has made the world a smaller place and has fostered a sense of global community.2. WorkElectronic devices have transformed the way we work. We can now access information, collaborate with colleagues, and complete tasks from anywhere in the world. This has increased productivity and has allowed for greater flexibility in the workplace.3. EntertainmentElectronic devices have become an essential source of entertainment. We can now stream movies, listen to music, and play games on our smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This has changed the way we consume entertainment and has created new opportunities for content creators.4. EducationElectronic devices have also had a significant impact on education. We can now access a wealth of information and resources online, and educational institutions are increasingly adopting digital technologies to enhance the learning experience. In conclusion, the evolution and impact of electronic devices have been profound. From the early days of the electric telegraph to the modern smartphones and tablets, electronic devices have transformed the way we live, work, and communicate. As we continue to develop new technologies, we must ensure that we harness their potential for the betterment of society while mitigating their negative impacts.Thank you for your attention.。

国际会议最终演讲稿-英语演讲稿good afternoon ladies and gentlemen:my name is shaoshasha,i am a senior in china jiliang university and majoring in business management. i am honored to be here to deliver an introduction of our group case study .this is our team member tanglihua ,sundan and meas we all know. sony and lenovo both enjoy high reputation among the mass. therefore, as a famous brand over asia, sony competes with lenovo in domestic market only by obtaining the knowledge of the comparative disadvantage and corresponding betterment, and this is the primary issue we should to settle. taking the customers demand as an base, we launched a market research and thereby get an understanding that the technical standard is the computers feature. since qfd is of great usefulness in analyzing dates, we apply it in our study in order to figure the approach of sonys improvement. in addition, quality function deployment is to help transform the customer wants into engineering characteristics for a product or service, prioritizing each product or service characteristic while simultaneously setting the development targets for the productor service. then according to the qfd analysis,we could get the new technical standards.based on market research we are able to get the customer satisfaction form. according to the form, we can figure that customers pay attention to laptops processing speed, weight, memory mount and corresponding cognition and perception. technological indicators for processing speed are basic frequency and internal memory, for weight is material, size and thickness; for volume is hard disk. these are the features for these technical indicators, in term to lenovo and sony.then let me to explain qfd of snoy laptop. first we rank the significance degree of customer need thereby to conclude the planning matrix. after customer needs are known, we can get technical requirement quality table relevancy, relationship matrix and correlation matrix(影响程度划分表)after completing the above analysis, the house of quality is our final plan .from the key qualities characters setting, sony takes a leadership in basic frequency, material and hard disk .with drawbacks in size and thickness .while internal memory is neck and neck between us and lenovo. therefore we draw conclusions as follows:1、in terms of basic frequency, lenovo performs better, however, the difficulty for improvement is relatively high. therefore, it is better to develop the attributes later rather than now.2、the amount of memory of sony and lenovo are equal; correspondingly we can take several steps to target a competitive advantage.3、as for material, sony has a patent for using light material and in contrast, lenovo does not. as a result, sony has an advantage. however, there are also some shortcomings, for instance: reliability. therefore .we should learn from the other competitors in order to improve our products.4、 when it comes to the size, sony has some advantages, whereas size is the attribute which is of the lowest technological difficulty. hence in order to beat the competitors in the market, sony should be less than 11 inch.5、 the thickness of sony is among the best in the opening market; however it is difficult for development. consequently ir would better be delayed the technological improvement.6、the most important one is hard disk, there is much potential for improvement ,therefore we want that the hard-disk can turn to 250g.from the improving goals, we can see the improvements we made in parameters of size and hard-disk to get the new technical standardsthis is our qfd analysis. if you have any comments about our case analysis, you are welcome to contact us. thanks for your time.下午好,女士们,先生们:我的名字是shaoshasha,我是中国计量学院高级和企业管理专业。

艾维奇英语演讲稿

艾维奇英语演讲稿Avicii English Speech。

Ladies and gentlemen,。

It is an honor for me to stand here today and address you all in English. As a Swedish DJ and music producer, I have had the privilege of traveling the world and experiencing different cultures and languages. Today, I want to share with you my thoughts on the power of music and the impact it has on our lives.Music is a universal language that transcends all barriers. It has the ability to bring people together, regardless of their background or beliefs. When I am on stage, I see the crowd united in the love of music, dancing and singing along to the same beat. It is a truly magical experience, and it reminds me of the incredible power of music to connect us as human beings. In my own career, I have always strived to create music that is not only catchy and enjoyable, but also meaningful and thought-provoking. I believe that music has the power to inspire and uplift people, to convey emotions and messages that words alone cannot express. Through my music, I hope to touch the hearts of my listeners and bring them joy and comfort in their lives. However, it is important to recognize that the music industry is not without its challenges. The rise of digital streaming and online piracy has significantly impacted the livelihoods of musicians and artists. It is crucial that we work together to support and protect the rights of creators, so that they can continue to produce the music that enriches our lives. Moreover, as a public figure, I have also faced my own personal struggles. The pressures of fame and the demands of the music industry have taken a toll on my mental and physical well-being. It is important for all of us to prioritize our mental health andseek help when needed. I have learned the hard way that success and fame do not guarantee happiness, and it is essential to take care of ourselves and those around us.In conclusion, I believe that music has the power to bring people together, to inspire and uplift, and to convey emotions and messages that transcend language and culture. As creators and consumers of music, we have a responsibility to support and protect the rights of artists, and to prioritize our own well-being. Let us continue to celebrate the beauty and power of music, and use it as a force for good in the world.Thank you.。

世界互联网大会发言稿英文

世界互联网大会发言稿英文

世界互联网大会发言稿英文Ladies and gentlemen,I am honored to be standing before you today at the prestigious World Internet Conference. The theme of this conference, "Digital Empowerment Creates a Better Future", resonates deeply with me as I firmly believe in the power of technology to transform our world for the better. Over the next few minutes, I would like to share my thoughts on the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the realm of the Internet. The Internet has come a long way since its inception. It has become an integral part of our lives, transforming the way we communicate, learn, work, and even entertain ourselves. It has broken down barriers, connecting people from different parts of the world, fostering collaboration and innovation. It has opened up a world of information, allowing us to access knowledge and expand our horizons. In short, the Internet has changed the way we live, for the better. However, along with the benefits, the Internet also brings about challenges that we need to address. One of the major challenges is ensuring the security and privacy of individuals and organizations. As we become more reliant on the Internet for our daily activities, we are increasingly vulnerable to cyber attacks and privacy breaches. It is important that we develop robust and effective mechanisms to protect our data and information. Moreover, as technology advances, we need to ensure that no one is left behind. The digital divide still exists, and it is ourresponsibility to bridge this gap. We need to make technology accessible and affordable for all, especially for those in developing countries and marginalized communities. By doing so, we can empower individuals and enable them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Internet. In addition, with the advent of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data, we are entering a new era of technology. These technologies have the potential to revolutionize industries such as healthcare, transportation, and finance. However, as we move forward, we need to ensure that these technologies are used ethically and responsibly. We need to establish guidelines and regulations to prevent misuse and abuse, and to protect against biases and discrimination.Another challenge that we face is the spread of misinformation and fake news on the Internet. With the rise of social media and online platforms, false information can spread like wildfire, leading to social unrest and mistrust. It is crucial that we promote media literacy and critical thinking skills, and that we develop tools and algorithms to identify and combat fake news.Furthermore, the Internet has the potential to be a powerful tool for promoting inclusivity and diversity. It can give voice to those who are marginalized or oppressed, and it can provide a platform for underrepresented groups to share their stories and perspectives. However, we need to ensure that the Internet remains a safe and inclusive space for all. We need to combat online harassment and hate speech, and we need to promote tolerance and respect.Lastly, as we look to the future, we need to foster international cooperation and collaboration. The Internet knows no borders, and it is crucial that we work together to address global challenges. We need to establish common standards and protocols, and we need to develop mechanisms for sharing knowledge and expertise. By doing so, we can create a truly global and interconnected Internet ecosystem. In conclusion, the Internet has the power to shape our future. It has the potential to empower individuals, drive economic growth, and promote social progress. However, it also poses challenges that we need to address. It is our responsibility to harness the power of the Internet for the greater good. Let us work together to create a future where the Internet is a force for positive change, where everyone has equal access and opportunity, and where the benefits of technology are shared by all. Thank you.。

世界无线电日英语演讲稿:用科技“划破沉寂”,用爱传递希望

世界无线电日英语演讲稿:用科技“划破沉寂”,用爱传递希望Dear audience,Today marks the World Radio Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the power of radio and the benefits it brings to our society. Radio has come a long way from its humble beginnings to become one of the most influential forms of communication worldwide. It has revolutionized the way we connect with each other, share information, and engage in conversations that matter. As we gather here today to celebrate this occasion, letus reflect on the role that radio has played in our society and the power it has to shape our world. Radio has been atthe forefront of many historic events such as wars, disasters, and social movements, providing a platform for people to express their opinions and stories, to learn about the world, and to connect with others. But radio is not just about news and information. It is also about music, culture, and entertainment. It has thepower to bring people together, to inspire and uplift us, andto remind us of our shared humanity. It is this power that we must harness and use for the greater good. With the rapid advancement of technology, we have seen an explosion of new forms of communication, but radio remains an essential tool for reaching out to people, especially inareas where access to technology may be limited. It is a reliable and effective means of providing vital information, whether it be about weather conditions, emergency alerts, or health information.Furthermore, as we face the challenges of our time, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, radio has played a vital role in keeping communities informed and connected. It has provided a platform for experts and authorities to share information and advice, for people to express their concerns and anxieties, and for artists and musicians to provide comfort and hope. But radio is not just about the technology or the content. It is also about the people behind it 鈥?the producers, the presenters, and the listeners. It is about the relationships and interactions that are nurtured through this medium. It is about the love and compassion that are exchanged through the airwaves. So on this World Radio Day, let us remember the power of radio to 鈥渂reak the silence鈥?and to connect us with each other. Let us use this power to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding, and to reach out to those who are marginalized and voiceless. Let us use technology to enhance our communication, but let us not forget the importance of human connections and the love that binds us all together.Thank you.。

Let me offer my sincere thanks andappreciation to the United Arab Emirates for all its efforts in the excellent organization andfacilities for this conference. I would like to express my thanks to the local authorities of Dubaifor their very kind hospitality.Ladies and gentlemen,I think we are all well aware of the importance of this sixth WTDC, and I am encouraged to seesuch a high level of participation. What we decide and define here over the next two weeks will shape not just the future of ICTdevelopment over the next four years, but the future shape of the very world we live in.In today’s fast-moving ICT sector, four years is a very long time. To see how long that really is,let’s look back to 201X, when we last held the WTDC, in Hyderabad, India.Since then the ICT landscape has changed in extraordinary and unexpected ways.We have seen the number of fixed-line subscriptions continue to fall, and there are now around82 million fewer fixed-line subscriptions than there were at the beginning of 201X.This fall in fixed lines has been massively more than compensated for by mobile growth over thesame period – with net additions of almost 2.2 billion mobile cellular subscriptions since thebeginning of 201X.And the great news for this Conference is that almost all of this growth has been in thedeveloping world, which accounted for 90% ofthe net additions – very close to two billion newmobile cellular subscriptions have been added in the past four years. The same pattern is true of the growth in internet users, where817 million of the one billionnew internet users over the past four years have come from the developing world. We have also seen social media continue to skyrocket. When we metin Hyderabad, four yearsago, there were around 30 million users of Twitter, and 400 million users of Facebook. Todayhundreds of millionsof tweets are sent every day, and Facebook has over 1.2 billion users.Does that mean our job is finished?Of course not!And that’s why we’re all here. While over three quarters of people in the developed world nowhave access to the internet, more than two thirds of people in the developing world still do not.In the developed world, fixed and mobile broadband penetrationrates at the beginning of 201Xstood at 27.2% and 74.8% respectively. In the developing world, they stood at 6.1% and19.8%.Distinguished delegates,These are powerful numbers, but they also demonstrate the extraordinary opportunities thatlie ahead.ICTs – and in particular broadband networks – offer perhaps the greatest opportunity wehave ever had to make rapid and profound advances in global social and economicdevelopment. This is of tremendous and timely importance, as we approach the cusp between the MDGsnext year, and the beginning of the post-201X development process. And this of course is why ‘Broadband for Sustainable Development’ has been chosen as thetheme for WTDC this year.Like you, I am convinced that by extending access to broadband, countries will quicklyaccelerate sustainable social and economic progress.。

Speech by UN WomenGoodwill Ambassador Emma Watson at a special event for the HeForShe campaign, United Nations Headquarters, New York, 20SeptemberYour excellences, UN SecretaryGeneral, president of the General Assembly, executive Director of UN Women and distinguished guests it is an honour for me tobe here today.Today we are launching a campaign called “HeForShe.”I am reaching out to you because I need your help. We want to end gender inequality—and todo that we need everyone involved. This is the first campaign of its kind at the UN: we want to try and galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for change. And we don’t just want to talk about it, we want to try and make sure that it is tangible.I was appointed as goodwill ambassador for UN women six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism the more I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with manhating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop. For the record, feminism by definition is: “The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes.”I started questioning genderbased assumptions a long time ago. When I was eight I was confused at being called “bossy,” because I wanted todirect the plays we would put on for our parents—but the boys were not. When at 14 I started being sexualized by certain elements of the media. When at 15 my girlfriends started dropping out of their sports teams because they didn’t want to appear “muscly.”When at 18 my male friends were unable to express their feelings.I decided that I was a feminist and this seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word.Women are choosing not to identify as feminists. Apparently I am among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong, too aggressive, isolating, and antimen, unattractive, even. Why has the word become such an uncomfortable one?I am from Britain andIthink it is right that I am paidthe same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should be able to make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decisions that willaffect my life.I think it is right that socially I am afforded the same respect as men. But sadly I can say that there is no one country in the world where all women can expect to receive these rights. No country in the world can yet say that they have achieved gender equality. These rights I consider to be human rights but I am one of the lucky ones. My life is a sheer privilege because my parents didn’t love me less because I was born a daughter. My school did not limit me because I was a girl. My mentors didn’t assume I would go less far because I might give birth to a child one day. These influencers were the gender equality ambassadors that made who I am today. They may not know it, but they are the inadvertentfeminists who are changing the world today. We need more of those. And if you still hate the word—it is not the word that is important, it’s the idea and the ambition behind it, because not all women have received the same rights that I have. In fact, statistically, very few have been.In 1997, Hilary Clinton made a famous speech in Beijing about women’s rights. Sadly many of the things she wanted to change are still true today. But what stood out for me the most was that less than 30 percent of her audiences were male. How can we affect change in the world when only half of it is invited or feel welcome to participate in the conversation?Men—I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue too.Because to date, I’ve seen my father’s role as a parent being valued less by society despite my needing his presence as a child as much as my mother’s.I’ve seen young men suffering from mental illness unable to ask for help for fear it would make them l ess “of a man” or less of “macho”—in fact in the UK suicide is the biggest killer of men between 2049; eclipsing road accidents, cancer and coronary heart disease. I’ve seen men made fragile and insecure by a distorted sense of what constitutes male succes s. Men don’t have the benefits of equality either. We don’t often talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes but I can see that that they are and that when they are free, things will change for women as a natural consequence. If men don’t have t o be aggressive in order to be accepted, women won’t feel compelled to be submissive. If men don’t have to control, women won’t have to be controlled. Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel freeto be strong… It is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. If we stop defining each other by what we are not and start defining ourselves by who we are—we can all be freer and this is what HeForShe is about. It’s about freed om.I want men to take up this mantle. So their daughters, sisters and mothers can be free from prejudice but also so that their sons have permission to be vulnerable and human too—reclaim those parts of themselves they abandoned and in doing so be a more true and complete version of themselves. You might be thinking who is this Harry Potter girl? And what is she doing speaking at the UN. And it’s a really good question. I have been asking myself the same thing. All I know is that I care about this problem. And I want to make it better. And having seen what I’ve seen—and giventhe chance—I feel it is my responsibilityto say something. Statesman Edmund Burke said: “All that is needed for the forces of evil to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing.”In my nervousness for this speech and in my moments of doubt I’ve told myself firmly—if not me, who, if not now, when. If you have similar doubts when opportunities are presented to you I hope that those words might be helpful. Because the reality is that if we do nothing it will take 75 years, or for me to be nearly a hundred before women can expect to be paid the same as men for the same work. 15.5 million girls will be married in the next 16 years as children. And at current rates it won’t be until 2086 before all rural African girls can have a secondary education. If you believe in equality, you might be one of those inadvertent feminists that I spoke of earlier. And for this I applaud you.We are struggling for a uniting world but thegood news is we have a uniting movement. It is called HeForShe. I am inviting you to step forward, to be seen and to ask yourself if not me, who, if not now, when.Thank you very very much.。

pros and cons of AI演讲If you want to understand and use AI, you need to know the very real pros and cons of artificial intelligence. While AI experts don't agree on many things, they all agree on one thing:AI technology is going to have huge effects on society and business.Google CEO Sundar Pichai says AI is "one of the most important things humanity is working on," and is more profound than our development of electricity or fire.Mark Cuban insists business leaders must understand and embrace AI."If any of you are entrepreneurs or in the business world and if you don't know AI, then you're the equivalent of somebody in 1999 saying, 'Yeah, I'm sure this internet thing will be okay, but I don't give a [expletive].' It's the same thing."And Elon Musk warns "If you're not concerned about AI safety, you should be. Vastly more risk than North Korea."Here at Marketing AI Institute, we've spent years researching and applying artificial intelligence in digital marketing and sales. In that time, we've concluded that AI applications will have an overwhelming positive net impact on the world. But we also have a realistic view of the risks and problems that AI presents. To help you unpack AI, we've compiled the list of the top 20 pros and cons of artificial intelligence that are critically important to understand today.。

smart phone and privacy演讲原文With endless applications,high-speed wireless Internet access, and free messaging services, smart phones have revolutionized the way we communicate. But at whatcost?According to researchers at Tel Aviv University, the smart phone is challenging traditional conceptions ofprivacy, especially in the public sphere.Dr.Tali Hatuka of TAU's Department of Geography and Dr.Eran Toch of TAU's Department of Industrial Engineering have teamed to measure the impact of the smart phone phenomenon on privacy, behavioral codes, and the use of public space.Their early results indicate that although spaces such as city squares, parks,or transportation were once seen as public meeting points, smart phone users are more and more caught up in theirtechnology-based communications devices than their immediate surroundings.Smart phone users are 70 percent more likely than regular cellphone users to believe that their phones afford them a great deal of privacy, says Dr.Toch, who specializes in privacy and information systems. These users are more willing to reveal private issues in public spaces. They are also less concerned about bothering individuals who share those spaces,he says.Dr.Hatuka says that smart phones create the illusion of"private bubbles"around their users in public spaces. She also believes that the design of public spaces may need to change in response to this technology, not unlike the ways in which some public areas have been designated as"smoking"and"non-smoking."Dr.Toch also notes that smartphones and personal computing devices are becoming more"context-aware,"adjusting themselves in terms of brightness and volume to the user's location and activity. To examine how smart phones have impacted human interactions in public and private spaces, the researchers designed an in-depth survey.Nearly 150 participants, half smart phone users and half regular phone users, were questioned about how telephone use applied to their homes, publicspaces, learning spaces, and transportation spaces. While regular phone users continued to adhere to established social protocol in terms of phone use--postponing private conversations for private spaces and considering the appropriateness of cell phone use in public spaces--smart phone users adapted different social behaviors for public spaces. They were 50 percent less likely to be bothered by others using their phones in public spaces, and 20 percent less likelythan regular phone users to believe that their private phone conversations were irritating to those around them, the researchers found.。

Today, we celebrate radio as a force for freedom of expression and pluralism, for all menand women. And especially women–who remain under-represented in news-making, indecision-making, and in media ownership. How can we get the full story with only half of the world’s voices? This is why UNESCO is working to develop radio as an independent and pluralistic mediafor both women and men, and to create a safer environment for all journalists, regardless ofgender.Radio can carry any message to any place at any time – we need to fully harness thispower for the benefit of everyone. In this spirit, UNESCO calls today on all broadcasters–from local community stations tointernational media outlets–to promote genderequality and the empowerment of women andmen both in and through radio. This is UNESCO’s message on World Radio Day.。

国际电联秘书长图埃博士在2019年世界电信大会英语演讲稿It is a great pleasure to be with you here in Dubai today. Let me offer my sincere thanks andappreciation to the United Arab Emirates for all its efforts in the excellent organization andfacilities for this conference.I would like to express my thanks to the local authorities of Dubaifor their very kind hospitality.Ladies and gentlemen,I think we are all well aware of the importance of this sixth WTDC, and I am encouraged to seesuch a high level of participation. What we decide and define here over the next two weeks will shape not just the future of ICTdevelopment over the next four years, but the future shape of the very world we live in.In today’s fast-moving ICT sector, four years is a very long time. To see how long that really is,let’s look back to 2019, when we last held the WTDC, in Hyderabad, India.Since then the ICT landscape has changed in extraordinary and unexpected ways.We have seen the number of fixed-line subscriptions continue to fall, and there are now around82 million fewer fixed-line subscriptions than there were at the beginning of 2019.This fall in fixed lines has been massively more than compensated for by mobile growth over thesame period –with net additions of almost 2.2 billion mobile cellular subscriptions since thebeginning of 2019.And the great news for this Conference is that almost all of this growth has been in thedeveloping world, which accounted for 90% of the net additions –very close to two billion newmobile cellular subscriptions have been added in the past four years. The same pattern is true of the growth in internet users, where 817 million of the one billionnew internet users over the past four years have come from the developing world. We have also seen social media continue to skyrocket. When we met in Hyderabad, four yearsago, there were around 30 million users of Twitter, and 400 million users of Facebook. Todayhundreds of millions of tweets are sent every day, and Facebook has over 1.2 billion users.Does that mean our job is finished?Of course not!And that’s why we’re all here. While over three quarters of people in the developed world now have access to the internet, more than two thirds of people in the developing world still do not.In the developed world, fixed and mobile broadband penetration rates at the beginning of 2019stood at 27.2% and 74.8% respectively. In the developing world, they stood at 6.1% and19.8%.Distinguished delegates,These are powerful numbers, but they also demonstrate the extraordinary opportunities thatlie ahead.ICTs –and in particular broadband networks –offer perhaps the greatest opportunity wehave ever had to make rapid and profound advances in global social and economicdevelopment. This is of tremendous and timely importance, as we approach the cusp between the MDGsnext year, and the beginning of the post-2019 development process. And this of course is why ‘Broadband for Sustainable Development’has been chosen as thetheme for WTDC this year.Like you, I am convinced that by extending access to broadband, countries will quicklyaccelerate sustainable social and economic progress.By delivering efficiencies across so many areas –from education and healthcare totransportation, water and energy –broadband networks can quickly pay for themselves, creating a virtuous circle of investment, productivity and human development. To help world leaders see the ways that broadband can accelerate the achievement of theMDGs, ITU and UNESCO launched the Broadband Commission for Digital Development in 2019,just a few weeks before we last met, in Hyderabad. In this context, and in the context of this Conference, it is especially gratifying to seebroadband access growing so rapidly in the developing world –with penetration in thedeveloping world in terms of mobile broadband growing an incredible 50% between thebeginning of 2019 and the beginning of 2019.Ladies and gentlemen,I am an optimist, and I have tremendous faith that the public and private sectors will worktogether to invest in, and to roll-out, the necessary infrastructure. They did this so well in the creation of mobile cellular networks in the developing world, and Iexpect to see the pattern continued for broadband.I am also convinced that in partnership, they will also help create the necessary services thatpeople need, and that we will quickly see enriched content developed and created that will startoff a virtuous circle in stimulating demand. As this happens, we will rapidly see broadband reach the remotest corners of our planet. We must make sure that we do not just bring broadband to the people, but that we do soresponsibly. That we preserve cyberpeace and deliver cybersecurity in a world that is alwaysconnected, and always online.Distinguished delegates,The output from this Conference will be fed into the ITU StrategicPlan which will be endorsedby the ITU’s Plenipotentiary Conference in Korea in October. And I hope that many of you will be there to help shape our future as an organization –and tomake sure we adopt a sound strategic and financial plan for the next four years. So over the next two weeks, let’s dream big!Let’s think about how technological advances might shape the future;Let’s think about what can be done with massive increases in computational power and ever-cheaper memory;Let’s think about what can we do with the cloud, to make the world a better place; And let’s think about how can we put ever-smarter, ever-more affordable smartphones to useacross the developing world.Let’s be bold!Let’s work together to develop the programmes and projects that will ensure ICTs really dodeliver a better quality of life –for all the world’s people!Thank you.。
