(英语)九年级下册英语阅读理解技巧(很有用)及练习题含解析
一、阅读理解
1.阅读理解
Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true.
Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it's hard for you to communicate with your parents, don't worry about it. Here are some advice for you to bridge the generation gap (代沟).
Don't argue (争辩) with your parents. Don't get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won't consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can't express yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don't think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael's mother didn't agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days.
Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect (尊敬) to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.
Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your
own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.
A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth
having a try!

What do you see when you look at abstract (抽象的)art? Can you understand it? Does it look like anything?
Abstract art became popular in the early 20th century. Artists did not want to paint, draw, or
sculpt things exactly like they looked. They didn't want their art to be realistic(现实的). They were more interested in basic shapes and colours.
Picasso is probably the most famous of these artists. He painted and drew in many, many styles. Sometimes he used a lot of blue colours (his "blue period"). Later, he used more red and pink colours (his "rose period"). Many of his other paintings are called "cubist (立体派的)" because they are made of painted squares.
After a long time, Picasso's paintings became more and more abstract. He painted people and
things using strange shapes. His work was so strange that many of his workmates didn't understand it.
Kandinsky, another famous artist, used lines, shapes, and patterns to paint his subjects. His paintings also used strong colours to express feelings. Other artists like the surrealists (超现实主义画家),were interested in subconsciousness (潜意识). Painters like Breton and Magritte used many symbols in their work. The meaning or subject of their work wasn't always clear. Dali, another surrealist artist, painted pictures that looked like dreams.
There are still many abstract artists around the world. That's the way many artists prefer. They want each person to look at art and find their own meaning in it.
(1)Which would be most like abstract art?
A. A painting of a house.
B. A sculpture of a car.
C. A drawing of two people in a coffee house.
D. A red and blue painting, with no clear subject.
(2)What happened to Picasso's work after a long time?
A. It became more abstract.
B. It became less strange.
C. He went from using red colours to using blue colours.
D. He only painted with coloured squares.
(3)How did Kandinsky express feelings?
A. By using strong colours.
B. By painting realistic people.
C. By painting with a lot of symbols.
D. By painting in red and pink colours.
(4)Which of the following is NOT true?
A. Picasso painted in many different styles.
B. Dali was interested in dreams.
C. Abstract artists feel each work of art only has one meaning.
D. Magritte's art was full of symbols.

In the summer between my first year and second year in college, I was invited to be an instructor(辅导员)at a high school camp. On the first day, when we were dancing and playing games, I noticed a boy under the tree who was small and thin. His shyness made him appear weak. I walked towards him, introduced myself and invited him to join in the activities and meet some new people. He quietly replied, "No, I really don't want to do this." I could understand that
he was in a new world but I knew it wouldn't be right to force him either. Actually, the boy didn't
need a close talk but a friend.
At lunch the next day, I was leading camp songs when I saw the boy under the tree sitting alone.
I tried again with the same invitation, but he refused once again. That evening I was told the boy's name was Tommy. Then I asked the campers to pay special attention to the boy and spend time with him when they could.
The days went by and the time came when we had to leave. We held a big, warm party to celebrate the closing of the camp. All the campers shared their wonderful moments. To my surprise, I found the boy from under the tree dancing joyfully with two girls. I couldn't believe it
was the same person.
In October of my second year, I received a phone call from Tommy's mother. She told me that Tommy was hit by a car and died. I offered my deep sadness. The mother said, "Tommy mentioned you so many times. I want you to know that he went back to school and made new friends with confidence. You made a difference to Tommy during his last months."
At that moment, I realized how easy it was to give a bit of yourself every day. You may never know how much each gesture may mean to someone else. I hope that everyone can pay attention to his own "boy under the tree".

When he was small, Hill was a famous bad boy.
At the age of 9, his father married his stepmother. At that time they lived poorly in the countryside while his stepmother was from a wealthy family.
His father introduced Hill to his stepmother as he said, "Dear, I hope you notice in the entire
shire this is the worst boy, who has made me have no other way. Maybe before tomorrow morning he will throw a stone at you, or do a bad thing you will never imagine."
To Hill's surprise, his stepmother went up to him with a smile, held up his head and looked at
him carefully. She then turned around to tell her husband, "You're wrong. He is not the worst boy
in the entire shire, but the cleverest and most creative boy. Only he doesn't find a place to show himself."
His stepmother's words warmed his heart, his eyes full of tears. With this, he started building friendship with his stepmother. And this became the drive of his life, making him create 28 successful golden rules, which helped tens of thousands of ordinary people walk on the road to success.
Before his stepmother came, no one praised him smart, and his father and neighbours considered him as a bad boy. However, his stepmother's words changed his life.
When Hill was 14 years old, his stepmother bought him a used typewriter and said to him, "I believe you will become a writer." Hill accepted his stepmother's gift and expectation, and started writing things to a local newspaper. He understood his stepmother's strong feeling of interest in
his family while he saw with his own eyes she had changed his family. Therefore, he would do as well as she expected him to.
The strength from his stepmother made him a rich man and famous writer in the United States and one of the most important persons in the 20th century.
