Should We Allow Firecrackers for Chinese New Year?
Chinese New Year is the most important festival in China. It's a time when families get together, eat lots of yummy food, and celebrate with fun traditions. One of those traditions is setting off firecrackers and fireworks! The loud bangs and bright colors in the sky are so exciting. But some people think we shouldn't be allowed to light firecrackers anymore. Let me tell you why I think we should still get to have firecrackers for Chinese New Year.
First of all, firecrackers are a really old tradition that has been part of Chinese New Year celebrations for centuries and centuries. Way back in ancient times, people believed that the loud noises from firecrackers would scare away evil spirits and monsters. They thought it would give them good luck for the new year. Even though we don't really believe in evil spirits these days, it's still a fun tradition that connects us to our culture and history. It just wouldn't feel like true Chinese New Year without firecrackers!
Secondly, setting off firecrackers is so exciting and fun, especially for kids like me. I look forward to it all year long! When I hear the firecrackers going bang! bang! bang! my heart races with joy and anticipation. The colorful fireworks lighting up the night sky are breathtakingly beautiful. For a kid, there's no bigger thrill than being allowed to light a few lucky firecrackers myself (with careful supervision from my parents, of course). It's a special treat we get just once a year to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Some people say firecrackers are too noisy and disruptive. They complain about the sounds scaring dogs and birds. But the firecrackers only last for a few weeks around the New Year period. The rest of the year is peaceful. Couldn't we all just put up with a little noise for the sake of this amazing cultural tradition? My aunt's dog doesn't seem to mind the firecrackers at all. She just curls up and takes a nap through all the commotion.
Other people argue that firecrackers cause air pollution from the smoke and residue. While it's true that firecrackers do create some smoke and ashes, it's nothing compared to the pollution from vehicles and factories happening all year round. The firecrackers are just a tiny part of the problem for a few weeks.
Couldn't we make an exception for this annual celebration that means so much to us?
Another complaint is that firecrackers are dangerous and can cause fires or injuries if not used properly. However, my parents have taught me strict safety rules about only lighting firecrackers in an open area away from buildings, wearing protective gloves, and never playing with firecrackers unsupervised. As long as we are responsible and follow the safety guidelines, the risk is very low. Most families take all the necessary precautions.
At the end of the day, the joyful firecrackers and brilliant fireworks displays are what make Chinese New Year special forme and my family. When I hear those iconic firecracker pops and see the dazzling lights in the sky, I feel such pride and happiness about being Chinese. Those sights and sounds are woven into my most wonderful childhood memories of this holiday.
Chinese New Year just wouldn't be the same without firecrackers as part of the celebration. This ancient tradition connects me to my culture's rich heritage and fills me with gladness, excitement, and auspicious hopes for the coming year.
I really hope we can keep enjoying firecrackers as an important
part of ringing in the Lunar New Year for many more years to come.

Should We Let off Firecrackers for Chinese New Year?
Chinese New Year is the most important festival in China. It's a time when families get together, eat yummy foods, and celebrate with fireworks and firecrackers! But some people think we shouldn't let off firecrackers anymore. I want to share my thoughts on this.
First of all, letting off firecrackers is an ancient tradition that has been part of Chinese New Year celebrations for hundreds of years! A long, long time ago, people in China believed that the loud popping noises from firecrackers would scare away evil spirits and monsters. They thought it would give them good luck for the new year. Even though we don't really believe in evil spirits these days, setting off firecrackers is still fun and exciting. It makes the new year feel extra special!
Another reason why I think firecrackers should be allowed is because they are so pretty to look at! The bright flashes of colored light in the night sky are magical. My favorite ones are the extra loud ones that make my heart jump with the big
"Bang!" I also love the beautiful showers of sparkles raining down afterwards. Wow! It's like the stars are falling from the heavens just for us. Chinese New Year wouldn't be the same without those dazzling firework displays lighting up the darkness.
Some people worry that firecrackers cause too much noise and air pollution though. I can understand their concerns. The loud cracking sounds can be scary for little kids and pets. Plus all that gunpowder smoke isn't very good for the environment. But I think we could find some compromises.
For example, maybe there could be designated times and areas just for setting off firecrackers? That way people who want to enjoy them can, but others don't have to be disturbed. And we could use more environmentally-friendly firecrackers that don't make as much smoke. There are even substitutes made from paper or plant materials instead of gunpowder now. Those would be safer for the air we breathe.
At school, we learned that noise pollution can also harm wildlife like birds and squirrels. That's the last thing I would want!
I really love animals. Perhaps we could only allow quieter fireworks and firecrackers in areas away from forests and parks
where creatures live. That seems like a reasonable solution to me.
Overall, I believe that setting off firecrackers should still be permitted for Chinese New Year as it is such an important cultural tradition. It just needs to be done responsibly. We could limit it to certain times and use safer, less polluting types. As long as we are being considerate of others, there is a way to uphold this custom while addressing peoples' concerns about noise and environmental impacts.
Wouldn't it be sad if future generations of Chinese children never got to experience the childhood delight of watching a vibrant fireworks show during their new year celebrations? Or hear the exciting little pops and crackles of firecrackers in the distance? I know I would be heartbroken to miss out on that. Fireworks are the lasted forever! They fill me with wonder and amazement.
As long as we take precautions like having rules about where and when firecrackers can be used, plus using environmentally-safe versions, I don't see why we can't keep this tradition alive for years to come. It's an important part of my culture and Chinese New Year just wouldn't be the same without it. Let's find a reasonable balance that makes everyone happy!

Should We Have Fireworks for Chinese New Year?
Wow, Chinese New Year is coming up soon! It's one of my favorite holidays because I get to eat lots of yummy food, get lucky money in red envelopes, and spend time with my family. But there's one part of the celebrations that I'm not sure about - the fireworks.
Some people think we should keep having fireworks because it's a tradition and traditions are important. Fireworks have been used to celebrate Chinese New Year for a super long time, maybe even thousands of years! Setting them off is supposed to scare away evil spirits and bring good luck for the new year. My grandparents say they remember doing it when they were kids a long, long time ago. So fireworks help us feel connected to our culture and history.
The fireworks displays are also really pretty to look at! I love watching all the bright colors burst in the sky and make cool shapes. The loud bangs and whistles surprise me a little but in a fun way. My friends and I think lighting fireworks for Chinese New Year is exciting. Our neighborhood even has a big
community show that everyone goes to watch together. It's a special tradition that brings people together to celebrate.
But on the other hand, fireworks can be kind of dangerous. There's a risk of fires starting if they aren't set up properly. And sometimes people get hurt if they don't handle the fireworks carefully. A kid in my class once told me his cousin lost a finger from fireworks! That sounds really scary. Maybe we should find a safer way to celebrate that doesn't risk anybody getting injured.
There are also concerns that fireworks are bad for the environment. They release smoke and gases that pollute the air we breathe. The loud noises can upset pets and wildlife too. My dog gets really scared whenever she hears the booming sounds.
I feel bad that fireworks make her so anxious. Plus, sweeping up all the cardboard and plastic debris after a fireworks show makes a lot of litter and trash.
Some people say we should switch to using drones with lights instead of real fireworks. The drone light shows can still create amazing displays in the sky without any of the fire hazards, noise, or pollution. I've never seen one in person before but they look incredible in videos! The drones can even make animations and words appear. A drone show could be a really high-tech way to celebrate while being safe and eco-friendly.
Personally, I have mixed feelings about whether we should keep doing fireworks or not. Part of me really loves the tradition and how exciting it is to watch. Fireworks are a symbol of the holiday festivities. But I also don't want anyone to get hurt or for the environment to be damaged. Those things are way more important than pyrotechnics. Maybe there could be a compromise solution?
What if we only had a few small fireworks celebrations instead of every neighborhood setting them off? That would reduce the overall amount being used. Or communities could alternate years between real fireworks and drone shows. Or there could be stricter safety rules for who is allowed to light the fireworks, with professionals handling it rather than amateurs. I think finding some middle ground solution is probably wise.
In the end, I really value celebrating my cultural traditions for Chinese New Year. I'm proud of my heritage and want to honor it. But I also care a lot about being responsible and keeping people safe too. I'm not sure there's a perfect answer, but I hope we can at least find a good compromise. As long as I can still spend quality time with my family, eat lots of delicious food, and feel the holiday spirit, I'll be happy! Those are the real reasons to celebrate anyway.

Should We Let Off Firecrackers for Chinese New Year?
Hi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to talk about whether we should be allowed to let off firecrackers and fireworks for Chinese New Year. It's a very hot topic that people have very different views on.
First off, what even are firecrackers? Firecrackers are those little red tubes that you light on fire and they make a really loud "bang!" sound. Fireworks are the bigger ones that shoot up into the sky and explode with bright colors and shapes. People in China have been using firecrackers and fireworks to celebrate the New Year for hundreds of years!
Some people think we should still be allowed to use firecrackers and fireworks for New Year. Their main reasons are:
It's an ancient tradition that's important to our culture. Setting off firecrackers is a way to scare off evil spirits and bring good luck for the new year. Not doing it would be disrespecting our ancestors.
It's really fun! Who doesn't love watching brilliant firework displays light up the night sky? And there's nothing quite like the
excitement of kids running around lighting little firecrackers. It makes the holiday so much more festive and joyful.
Setting off fireworks is a major business that lots of people rely on to make money for the year. Banning them could put many families into poverty.
However, there are also good reasons why we maybe shouldn't use fireworks and firecrackers anymore:
They are extremely dangerous and cause many injuries and home/business fires every year. Just a few days ago, a fireworks stall burnt down and several people were badly hurt. The loud bangs can also disturb veterans with PTSD.
The smoke and debris causes very bad air pollution that makes it hard for some people to breathe properly during the celebrations. This affects children, the elderly, and those with conditions like asthma the most.
The noise from the explosions scares animals terribly. Every New Year's season, many pets get lost and injure themselves from panicking and running away. The sounds also very stressful for wildlife.
Making fireworks uses a lot of resources like paper and gunpowder that could be better used for other things. The
manufacturing process also creates chemical waste products that are bad for the environment.
Those are the main arguments on both sides of this very heated debate. Personally, I can see good points being made by both sides. While I love the excitement and tradition of fireworks, I don't like how they scare my dog Buddy and make the air so smoky that I have asthma attacks.
I think the best solution is to use safer, more environmentally-friendly alternatives to regular fireworks wherever possible. For example, drone light shows are becoming popular where hundreds of rolled drones create bright moving images in the night sky. Laserlight displays and virtual reality exhibitions can allow people to enjoy vibrant displays without any physical fireworks.
For the smaller firecrackers, we could try using poco novelties that create flashes and bangs through chemical reactions rather than explosives. This maintains the cultural experience while being less polluting and dangerous. Industrial areas far from homes could perhaps still allow moderate professional fireworks displays.
However, I definitely think we need much stricter safety rules around fireworks than we currently have. There should be clear
age limits, permits required, and designated zones for usage. Maybe there could be a limit of firecrackers per neighborhood to reduce noise. Fireworks manufacturing should tightly regulate to protect workers and the environment.
Overall, I don't think we can completely eliminate fireworks from Chinese New Year since they're such an important tradition. But we need to modernize the practice with innovative new displays and stricter regulations to address the very real public safety, environmental, and animal welfare issues they raise. That way we can still enjoy the excitement and nostalgic thrills of New Year's fireworks while being smarter and more responsible about how we celebrate.
What do you all think about this topic? I've given my opinion but I'm really curious to hear other viewpoints too! Let me know if you agree or disagree with what I've said. And no matter what, I hope you all have a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year!

Should We Set Off Fireworks for Chinese New Year?
Hi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. Chinese New Year is my absolute favorite holiday! I love the yummy food, the pretty red decorations, getting lucky money
from my family, and most of all...the fireworks! Every year, my parents buy a bunch of fireworks like firecrackers and sparklers and we set them off in the street in front of our apartment building. It's so much fun to watch them explode in bright colors in the sky!
But you know what? Some people think we shouldn't be allowed to set off fireworks for Chinese New Year anymore. They say it's too dangerous and pollutes the air too much. My teacher Mrs. Wang even made our whole class write essays about whether fireworks should be banned during this holiday. I think that's a terrible idea! Setting off fireworks is one of the best Chinese New Year traditions. I'm going to explain why I believe we should keep doing it.
First of all, fireworks are exciting and beautiful! They make the night sky look amazing with all the red, green, blue, and golden sparks. I watch in awe at the different patterns they make when they burst open - smiley faces, palm trees, chrysanthemum flowers. My favorite kind are the ones that whistle and crack really loudly. I can feel them booming in my chest when they go off. Fireworks make me smile from ear to ear! They fill me with a sense of joy and celebration for the new year.
Secondly, setting off fireworks is an important Chinese tradition that we've been doing for thousands of years, all the way back to ancient times. You see, people used to believe that the loud noises from fireworks would scare away evil spirits and bad luck. While we don't really believe that anymore, fireworks still symbolize putting the old year behind you and welcoming a fresh start. They are a sign of new beginnings and good fortune to come. It just wouldn't be true Chinese New Year celebrations without fireworks lighting up the sky!
I know some people say fireworks are dangerous because they can cause fires or injure people if you don't use them properly. But my dad is always very careful and follows all the safety rules. He makes sure to set them off in an open area away from buildings, cars, and groups of people. He doesn't let me or my little brother light them ourselves. He also has a bucket of water ready just in case anything small catches fire. Most people are very responsible when setting off fireworks for this holiday. We have to be cautious, but danger is just part of the fun and excitement!
As for pollution, yes fireworks do release some smoke and chemicals into the air for a little while. But it's just once a year for a single night! I don't think a few hours of fireworks is going to
make that much difference to the environment. There are much bigger causes of air pollution like factories and car exhaust that happen every single day. A short fireworks display is not going to destroy the planet.
The benefits of keeping fireworks as a Chinese New Year activity are much bigger than the drawbacks in my opinion. They spread joy and happiness to everyone watching. They allow us to honor our cultural heritage. As long as safety precautions are taken, the risks can be minimized. Fireworks are the absolute best part of ringing in the Lunar New Year! Banning them would be taking away people's excitement and celebration. It would be like canceling Christmas lights and trees - no fun at all!
So in conclusion, I believe we should absolutely keep setting off fireworks for Chinese New Year, my favorite holiday. The bright colors, the loud booms, the burst of light in the darkness - fireworks fill me with childlike glee and get me super amped for the new year ahead. They are an ancient tradition that we should respect, and they don't cause enough harm to get rid of if proper safety measures are used. Sure, they create some smoke, but the happiness and cultural importance of fireworks is more meaningful than that. Let's keep this beautiful, millennia-old custom alive for many more new years to come! I can't wait to
see the dazzling fireworks display again this year withmy family. Welcome the Year of the Rabbit with a spectacular blast!

Should We Let Off Firecrackers for Chinese New Year? An Essay by Little Xiao Ming
Wow, Chinese New Year is coming soon! It's one of my very favorite times of the year. I get delicious food, pretty new clothes, money in red envelopes from my relatives, and best of all - no school for two whole weeks! Woo-hoo! During the New Year festival, everything is so festive and exciting. The streets are decorated with bright red lanterns and couplets with black inky words written on them. Yummy sweet snacks like sesame seed balls and candied fruit are everywhere you look. And one of the most fun parts is setting off firecrackers and watching them burst into showers of sparks!
I really, really love firecrackers. The loud crackly bangs make me jump with glee. The brilliant flashes of red, gold and green light up the night sky. Puffs of smoke swirl all around. It's like a magic show happening right before my very eyes! I got a little pack of mini firecrackers from Grandpa last year and me and my cousin Xiao Hua had a blast (no pun intended!) setting them off
one by one in the backyard, dancing around and laughing like crazy at the mini explosions. They definitely made the New Year celebration way more fun and memorable.
However, I've heard some adults saying we shouldn't let off firecrackers anymore because they're dangerous and cause pollution. Dangerous? How could those tiny little red cardboard tubes with a bit of gunpowder inside be dangerous?? As long as you're being careful and following the instructions, it's perfectly safe. I mean, kids way younger than me have been setting off firecrackers for the New Year for like, hundreds of years already without anything too bad happening. We just have to be responsible about it.
And what about the pollution problem? Sure, firecrackers do make some smoke, but it's just for a little while during the New Year period. It's not like we're setting them off every single day or anything. The fresh air will blow all that smoke away in no time. Plus, aren't the beautiful colors and sounds worth a little bit of smoke? Firecrackers are an ancient Chinese tradition that makes the Spring Festival ten times more exciting! Imagining the New Year without any firecrackers at all is just..sad. It's like leaving out one of the most important ingredients when cooking your favorite dish.
My dad says the firecrackers are meant to scare away any evil spirits or bad luck lingering around from the old year, so we can start fresh with good fortune in the new year. By setting them off, we're continuing a cultural practice that has been around forever, connecting the present to the past. It represents values like vigor, joy and new beginnings that the New Year is all about. If we stop doing it, doesn't that mean we're disrespecting our ancestors and history?
In my opinion, we absolutely have to keep setting off firecrackers to celebrate the Spring Festival, while still being smart and safe about it of course. Maybe there could be some rules though, like only letting off firecrackers during certain time periods at night so it doesn't bother people too much. Or having specified areas where kids can set them off while supervised by adults. That way, everybody who wants to can still enjoy the fireworks without causing too much disturbance.
Overall, even though firecrackers create some noise and smoke, I think the happiness, excitement and cultural significance they bring to ringing in the Lunar New Year makes it worthwhile to let the tradition continue. As long as we take proper precautions, there's no need to cancel something that brings so many people intense joy and meaning, especially us
kids! Letting off firecrackers is one of the most iconic and fun parts of celebrating the Spring Festival. Please don't take that away from us!。
