election（预选） is the first stage ，usually starts from the beginning of the election year and ends at the mid-year. The form of a primary is universal suffrage （直选）, a state of the two parties (Democratic Party and Republican Party) voters to the polls to vote “pledged delegates” who would attend the National Convention of the Party, and expressed support for a candidate of this Party.
