This Readme contains important information about AutoCAD ® for Mac® that may not be included in Help.
Installation, Configuration, and Hardware
Before you use AutoCAD, you should be aware of the following installation and
hardware limitations.
Network License Server Setup
When using network licensing, you should be aware of the following:
■The Autodesk Licensing Guide covers how to set up the automatic startup of a network license server, but the steps might vary depending on what
version of OS X is running. Refer to your Mac OS X documentation on how
to configure an automatic startup service to run the network license server
automatically.
■ A client workstation in a pure IPv6 network environment might not be able to successfully obtain a license from a network license server. As a
workaround, use both a client workstation and license server in an IPv4
network environment.
Side-by-side Installs
AutoCAD 2018 for Mac can be installed side by side with previous shipping
versions of AutoCAD.

Installing the Product
Using the default installation settings is the fastest way to install AutoCAD.
A default installation does the following:
■Performs a Standard installation, which installs the most common
application features.
■Installs the product to the default installation path of
/Applications/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2018.
1Start the AutoCAD Installation wizard.
2On the Introduction page, click Continue.
3On the License page, select a language from the Language drop-down list and review the Autodesk software license agreement. Click Continue
and then click Agree.
4On the Installation Type page, click Install.
5If the Password dialog box is displayed, enter your password and click OK.
6On the Summary page, click Close.
You have successfully installed AutoCAD. You are now ready to register and
start using the program.
Launching the product
On Let's Get Started page, choose one of following to specify license
information:
■Sign in with your account username and password if you have a user license.
■Enter a serial number to activate and register the product (For details, please refer to the Activating and Registering the Product section).
■Use a network license if you use network servers to manage licenses.
■Start a trial.
Activating and Registering the Product
1On the Finder menu bar, click Go ➤ Applications.
2In the Applications window, double-click Autodesk ➤ AutoCAD
2018➤AutoCAD 2018.

3In the Autodesk Privacy Statement dialog, select the checkbox and click
I Agree to continue.
4In the AutoCAD for Mac Product License Activation wizard, select
Activate, and then click Next.
5Click Register and Activate.
6Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
Uninstalling the Product
1On the Finder menu bar, click Go ➤ Applications.
2In the Applications window, double-click Autodesk ➤ AutoCAD 2018➤ Remove AutoCAD 2018.
3In the Remove AutoCAD 2018 dialog box, click Continue.
4Uncheck Leave AutoCAD Preferences on My Computer to remove the current saved user settings and click Continue.
5If the Password dialog box is displayed, enter your password and click OK.
6Fill out the Feedback form if desired and the click Close. AutoCAD 2018 for Mac System Requirements Before you install AutoCAD 2018 for Mac, make sure that your computer
meets the minimum hardware and software requirements listed below.

About the Desktop Analytics Program
You are invited to help guide the direction of Autodesk design software.
If you participate in the Desktop Analytics Program (DAP), specific information
about how you use AutoCAD for Mac is forwarded to Autodesk. This
information includes what features you use the most, problems that you
encounter, and other information helpful to the future direction of the
product. (see About Desktop Analytics)
The Desktop Analytics Program (DAP) in AutoCAD starts collecting data when
the program is launched . The data is sent to Autodesk when AutoCAD is
closed.
To turn DAP on or off, click Help➤Desktop Analytics. In the Data
Collection and Use dialog box, check or clear the option to participate.
