A Person I Respect: My English Teacher
My English teacher, Mrs. Smith, is someone I really admire and respect. She's the best teacher ever! I'll tell you all the reasons why she's so awesome.
First of all, Mrs. Smith makes learning English super fun. She doesn't just make us read boring textbooks and do worksheets all day. Instead, she has us play games, sing songs, act out skits, and do all sorts of fun activities. Like this one time, she had us go on a scavenger hunt around the school to find objects and had to use English words to describe them. It was the best!

You know how some grown-ups are really boring and just talk about rules all the time? Well, my English teacher Mrs. Smith is totally not like that! She is the coolest teacher ever and I look up to her so much.
First of all, Mrs. Smith always has a big smile on her face. Even when we are being a little loud or silly in class, she doesn't get mad. She just laughs along with us! Her smile makes the whole classroom feel happy and relaxed. I never feel scared to speak up or ask questions because I know she will be nice about it.
Another awesome thing about Mrs. Smith is how she makes learning English fun. We don't just do boring worksheets or read from the textbook all period. She comes up with the most creative games and activities to help us practice. Like this one time, we played English Word Family Feud and got to compete in teams to see who knew more vocabulary words. There are many people in the world that I look up to and admire. Some are famous athletes, movie stars, or superheroes. But the person I admire most is my English teacher, Ms. Johnson. She's not a celebrity, but to me, she's a real-life hero!
Ms. Johnson has been my English teacher since the start of 3rd grade. At first, I wasn't too excited about having her as a teacher. English class seemed so boring with all the reading, writing, and learning new vocabulary words. But Ms. Johnson made it fun in a way I never expected.
Instead of just lecturing at us, she always had us play educational games, act out stories, and even put on little plays. She used songs, art, and movement to help us learn grammar rules and practice our English skills. Class never felt like boring schoolwork. It was like a big adventure!
Ms. Johnson also tells the funniest jokes and does wacky voices when she reads aloud to us. She's not afraid to be silly, which makes everyone feel comfortable to be themselves. My English teacher, Mrs. Johnson, is the kind of person I really respect. She is smart, patient, caring, and makes learning fun. I'll tell you all the reasons why I admire her so much.
First of all, Mrs. Johnson is brilliant when it comes to English. She knows everything about grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing. Whenever I have a question, even a super hard one, she always has the answer. It's like she has an encyclopedia about English stuck in her head! She can explain concepts in a way that makes sense to kids like me. People Like This Make Me Respect My English Teacher
My English teacher, Ms. Johnson, is the best! She's so kind, patient, and really good at explaining things. Whenever I'm having trouble understanding something, she takes the time to help me until I get it. Ms. Johnson never makes me feel bad for asking questions, even if they're about stuff we already learned. She says there's no such thing as a stupid question.
But you know what I respect most about Ms. Johnson? It's how she deals with the really annoying kids in our class. I'm
talking about the ones who never listen, goof off all the time, and make it harder for everyone else to learn. Some teachers yell at those kids or send them to the principal's office a lot. Not Ms. Johnson though. She has this special way of handling them that I think is really cool.
Take Michael for example. He's probably the biggest troublemaker in our whole grade. Michael never does his homework, he constantly disrupts the class by blurting things out, and he makes fun of anyone who actually tries at school. You'd think Ms. Johnson would get super mad at him or not want to deal with his nonsense. But she never loses her patience!
Whenever Michael starts goofing around, Ms. Johnson just calmly says his name in this quiet but firm voice. She doesn't yell or get visibly upset. She simply says "Michael" and he usually stops for a minute. If he keeps misbehaving, she might say "Michael, please remember our rules about disrupting the class." In this very even, no-nonsense tone. And you know what's crazy? More often than not, Michael settlesdown after that!
I don't know how Ms. Johnson does it. The other teachers seem to have no effect when they discipline Michael. He just smirks at them and keeps on breaking rules until they snap and send him out of the classroom. But not with Ms. Johnson's
approach. Maybe it's because she says his name in a way that shows she still respects him as a person, just not his bad behavior. Who knows?
Then there's Samantha. She's one of the smarter kids, but she can be a bit of a bully sometimes. Samantha loves to criticize anyone who gets a question wrong or pronounces something incorrectly. You can see kids kind of tense up anytime she raises her hand, afraid she's going to embarrass or make fun of them. Again, not cool behavior at all. But Ms. Johnson skillfully shuts that down every single time.
If Samantha says something mean or mocks a classmate, Ms. Johnson doesn't freak out or draw a ton of attention to it. She just kindly says something like "Samantha, That's unacceptable. We don't criticize people in this class for making mistakes while learning." BAM! Like that, Samantha looks a little ashamed and doesn't push it any further. Somehow, Ms. Johnson makes her feel bad about her bullying without fully calling her out in front of everyone. It's awesome!
I've seen so many teachers try to berate, yell, and use extreme punishments on kids like Michael and Samantha. It never works though. If anything, it makes them act out even more and disrupt class even worse. But not with my English
teacher's approach. She's firm, but so respectful. She finds a way to get through to even the most difficult students without making a huge scene or embarrassing anyone.
I have so much respect for how Ms. Johnson runs her classroom. It's a tough balance - being nice and caring, while also setting clear boundaries and not taking any nonsense. She expects a lot from us, but never makes us feel stupid or gets unreasonably mad if we fall short sometimes. We goof off way less in her class than others because she's fair, but doesn't let us walk all over her either.
Ms. Johnson is less of a strict disciplinarian and more of a guide. She understands that we're still kids learning how to behave and be students. Of course we'll make some mistakes along the way! But she's always there with endless patience and wisdom to steer us in the right direction. I feel like the luckiest kid in school to have an English teacher like Ms. Johnson. We had so much fun the week she taught us about idioms and figurative language by telling jokes and acting out silly skits with lots of word play.
Ms. Johnson also relates the things we're learning to our own lives to make them more meaningful and relevant. Like when we were learning sentence structure, she had us write sentences about our families, friends, pets, hobbies and things we like to do. When we studied poetry, we got to write our own free verse poems expressing our thoughts and feelings. We take virtual field trips by looking at pictures and videos to imagine traveling to places around the world that we read about in our stories and books.
What I respect most about Ms. Johnson though, is the way she treats everyone with kindness, fairness and respect - no
matter what. She doesn't have any favorites and goes out of her way to give every student a chance to participate, share their ideas, and have their voice heard. If someone is being left out or picked on, she's the first one to stand up for them. Ms. Johnson sets a great example of how to be a good friend by including others, resolving conflicts peacefully, and not judging people for being different.
Ms. Johnson doesn't just preach about being a good person either – she lives it through her actions. When we were learning about community service, she had our whole class volunteer at a food bank over the weekend. It was really fun working together to sort and pack up food donations for people in need. Ms. Johnson is also involved in a bunch of other charity work herself, like tutoring refugees, cleaning up parks and beaches, and even building houses. I want to be just like her when I grow up –helping others and making the world a little bit better.
There are so many other reasons I could list for why I respect and admire Ms. Johnson so much.
