Book4 Unit 1 Women of achievement教学设计
一.教材分析
本单元以取得成就的女性为话题,对古今中外六位不同的女性的成就分别进行了介绍。
其目的在于引导学生了解有什么样人格得人才是伟人,并能以这些伟人为榜样,坚定信念,塑造自我,创造未来。
Reading部分介绍了Jane Goodall与其同事们在非洲森林里的一个片段,并由此引出的工作方法及其所取得的成就,话题新颖,在整个单元中占有很重要的地位。
二.学情分析
我所教的班级两个文科班,整体成绩不错,同时,学生们能怀着对高中知识学习的渴望,赢得成功进步的积极性很高,但口语表达和阅读方法的使用并不是很好。
三.教学策略
本节课的教学以建构主义学习理论为指导,以学生为中心,以问题为出发点,使课堂教学过程成为学生自主的进行信息加工,知识意义构建,创新能力发展的过程,教师在教学过程中则适时介入,引导,启发,组织,帮助,促进,设计创造性思维问题。
四.教学目标(Teaching Aims)
1.To learn important patterns in the reading passage.
2.To improve their learning skills and the ability to use the language.
3.To teach them to learn with enthusiasm.
五.教学重点
1.Help the students comprehend the story of Jane Goodall’s protecting the African wildlife.
2.Get the students to learn from Jane Goodall’s story and come to the idea that great
personality is of importance to one’s success.
3.Learn and master some important words,phrases and sentence patterns in this period. 六.教学难点
1.Get the students comprehend the story and understand what Jane Goodall has done to
gain the achievements.
2.Get the students to believe that one’s personality as well as ability is important to one’s
success.
七.教学过程
Step 1 Warming-up and lead-in
(设计意图:通过竞赛,观看图片及小组讨论等形式激发学生学习兴趣,训练学生说的能力,同时引出中心人物Jane Goodall的相关信息,为阅读做好铺垫。
)
Have a competition.Find out the quality that a great woman needs in groups.
Get students to look at the pictures on the screen and answer the questions.
Do you know these women? Who are they?
Are they great or are they important? Why?
Show some pictures of Jane Goodall with chimps in Africa.
Step 2 Reading for information
(设计意图:学生通过略读初步掌握文章后,在进行寻读,捕捉具体信息细节,加深对文章的理解。
寻读是快速阅读的另外一种方式,它要求教师设计好需要查找的信息和具体的事实。
利用小组互问互答的方式培养学生获取信息、发现问题、分析问题、解决问题和与
人合作的能力。
)
Task 1 General idea
Prediction is an important skill in grasping the idea of a text. Consequently, let the students predict the general idea before they read this task.
1.Read the title and enjoy the two pictures of Ms Goodall on Page2 to predict the general
meaning of the text.
2.Then skim Para. 1-Para 3 as fast as possible and summarize the general idea.
Task 2 Main idea of each paragraph
Cooperative learning can raise the students’ interest and create an atmosphere of achievement. Based on this theory ,I divide the whole class into 4 groups to skim the whole text and get the main idea of each paragraph.
Step 3 Consolidation
(设计意图:复述课文是训练学生运用信息的一个重要环节,这样能帮助学生深入理解课文,掌握课文的要点,同时为提高学生英语书写的能力打下基础。
)
活动1:Summary
让学生根据提示,完成对课文的总结。

Jane Goodall is a great woman who works to protect chimps. When she was a little girl, Jane always wanted to study animals in _______ own environment. It was not easy for a woman to study chimps in the forest,________ Jane Goodall never gave up her dream. She _______(allow) to begin her work in Gombe _____ the help of her mother. She spent years in the forest_____(observe) chimps’ daily activities. She discovered that chimps can hunt and eat meat and discovered ____chimps communicate with each other. (1)Discussion in pairs :what characters do you think a great woman usually has?
(2)Introduce to each other the information of a great woman you collected before class.

Step 4 Assignment
(设计意图:引导学生进一步理解Jane Goodall 的工作重要性及其优质的品质,唤起同学们理解动物、尊重动物和保护动物的意识,对学生进行德育渗透。
)

Surf the Internet and find out more information about Jane Goodall.
八.课后反思
1.引导学生关注女性,在各个领域的成就。
这也助于提高学生对妇女的社会角色的认识,
培养学生尤其是女学生的自信心,事业心和社会责任感,建立正确的性别观,社会观。
2.带着问题同同伴交流和讨论,并尽可能多的使用介绍人物品质和个性的形容词,经过
充分的讨论后,邀请学生谈谈他们所敬佩的女性。
在这一环节,由于学生的差异,学生的表述水平是不一的,有的学生只能说出几个形容词和简单的句子。
这时,老师的鼓励与帮助是非常重要的。
